Fresh produce, always. I get all my produce from this place. The employees are in a good mood.

I've never had a bad experience at La Fiesta Fruits. The service is always great. The portions…read moreare hearty, and the prices are reasonable. The tortas are delicious. The chicken soup is probably the best I've had anywhere, and I go out of my way to get it when I'm sick. They also have a wide variety of freshly squeezed juices and fresh fruit bowls. They offer a pretty big range of menu options from healthy to greasy, and I can't imagine that anyone could ever leave dissatisfied. It's hard to believe La Fiesta Fruits isn't more popular around lunchtime. It's conveniently located in the West End. It's hard to see, but it's in the same building as Chipotle. If you go through the entrance, Chipotle is on the right, and La Fiesta Fruits is on the left. For some reason, the Chipotle is always packed, but there's never a line at La Fiesta, so I guess that's a bonus. This was one of my lunch staples when I worked downtown. It's definitely worth a try if you work in the area, and you'll kick yourself for not trying it sooner.

He made my meal in front of me, and this home cooked style was a good change of pace from Chipotle. I've his quesadillas and tortas, both lightly cooked, but with plenty of favor. The beans and rice were fresh and a great value add-on to the main dish. The price is really good considering the location. His card has his phone number, so you can call ahead and order. I would definitely add this one to the lunch rotation.

My sister came to visit from out of state. I was raving about the Dallas Farmer's Market. How…read moregreat it was, how you could find the best fruits and vegetables from friendly vendors. Thing is, I hadn't been down here for a couple years. Boy was I wrong. There is no more Dallas Farmer's Market. It's gone, given way to high end residential apartments and artisan craft things paired with wine shops that my daughter calls "Parlors of tipsy housewives." Fortunately for me, I happened to catch a glimpse of the Sweet Harvest Shed out of the corner of my eye as I was leaving with great disappointment from the "Farmer's Market." I found the Sweet Harvest Shed. Thank God! We got everything I came for! The fruits, veggies, coffee, nuts, jams, salsas. Everything that used to be in that other place! Skip the farmer's market. Go here instead.

what we thought were 2 yellow watermelons for $18 EACH…read more When we got home (35 min. drive) one of them was red center but we paid of course for yellow center, my mother doesn't drive so we went back a day later with a third of watermelon because family members ate a portion. Mind you, you don't know what color it is until you cut into it which they wanted the whole watermelon returned which we returned a 1/3 at which they stated: then stated they should give us a 1/3 yellow watermelon back. Fine then they should pay for my gas for1 hr. Round trip and MY TIME AND THE DISTRESS to correct WHAT THEY WRONGFULLY SCREWED UP which till this day they never apologized for. I'm truly thinking at this point that they did it on purpose knowing we probably didn't live there and it's just assume we would not bring it back. They were extremely cold, Unapologetic, And hateful 1) We don't do exchanges or refunds or returns straight up, letting us know they were not going to do anything. At this point, we are irate seeing they absolutely DID NOT CARE why we were upset by their mistake. They treated my niece who is a lawyer like trash thinking she was about to steal watermelon from them before we bought. So the treatment was worse when asking them to correct their mistake. There was no apology! It was "Give them people the watermelon and get them out of my shop" Just short of the "n" word and don't come back which we will gladly OBLIGE!!! Racism at its finest. It is not hidden in any manor. They smile when you buy which is why the black guy is there so they don't have to deal with you or they assume you are there to steal. Oh, the claimed my niece Who they thought was a thief, two days before. Went back to speak to them the day before we returned to exchange the watermelon, and claimed that she was rude to them. She's the most tactful unrude person there is. She's a lawyer, and she knows how to speak with you without raising a Voice and without being rude. That is not her demeanor. Why people go out there way to treat those who are not their kind rudely is beyond comprehension. They went out of their way to berate, belittle, and talk down to us like he is God (owner). It was traumatizing. Oh, the Lady, we spoke to would say she was very respectful. She started out with a harsh, We don't do refunds, We're not exchanging. We don't do that, But I'll call my boss. At that point. My mother was irate and cursed at her, as I got rude once we Realized they weren't gonna do anything at that point things got real. As a retailer, they should understand that when you're coming in with a complaint, that's not the first thing you say to them: We're not doing anything. It was bad Customer service all the way around, but I have a feeling had we been Latino we would have been received differently. Hopefully your treatment will be met with kindness if there is in issue. They are great at taking your money happily. Anyway, Isn't taking back food, a code violation of some sort?

I need to talk about Central Market on Lovers Lane and I need to talk about BP and I need to talk…read moreabout the produce section and I only have so many words so let's move. The produce section first because if I do not address it immediately I will think about it the whole time. Walking into the Central Market produce section is the closest a grocery store has ever come to making me feel like a child at Disney World. Not Disney World adjacent. Not Disney World inspired. Full Disney World. There are colors happening in that produce section that I did not know vegetables were capable of. Heirloom tomatoes in seventeen shades. Peppers that look like they were designed by an artist who was told to make a pepper but make it fashion. Mushrooms with names I cannot pronounce displayed like they are artifacts from a civilization that understood fungi better than we do. I have walked in there for one specific item and come out forty minutes later with things I have never cooked before and a quiet optimism about my future in the kitchen that has not always proven accurate but always feels real in the moment. I went once just for garlic. One head of garlic. I left with dragon fruit, three kinds of fresh pasta, a bunch of herbs that required me to look up two of them when I got home, and a wheel of cheese that I told myself was practical. It was not practical. I regret nothing. Now BP. BP runs the prepared foods counter at Central Market Lovers Lane and is the reason I sometimes drive there when I am not even hungry. BP was a high school math teacher in California for years. Years. Shaping young minds, writing equations on whiteboards, presumably grading papers on weekends with the quiet resignation of someone who has chosen a noble and exhausting profession. And then at some point BP looked at California, looked at Dallas, made a decision, and moved. He did most of the moving himself. I want you to think about that. This man, who spent years teaching mathematics, looked at a truck full of his belongings and said I will handle this personally. The kind of move that requires a certain stubbornness and also a pretty solid understanding of spatial reasoning which, given the math background, he had covered. BP is now behind the prepared foods counter at Central Market and is genuinely one of the warmest humans I have encountered on either side of a deli case. He talks to you like he has time, which in a prepared foods counter context is unusual and should be protected at all costs. He knows what is good that day. He will tell you. You should listen. Excellent store. Exceptional produce section. BP is the best part of the prepared foods counter and possibly of Lovers Lane entirely.
