THE WORST MOVING EXPERIENCE in my life, in which I have moved multiple times due to the military and work. Let me tell you my day with JD Movers. They showed up at 8:00am as scheduled with the tiniest truck. In my conversation with them before scheduling the service I explained the move we wanted. I described the items we had and I asked him to come and see for himself, he replied, "I charge an hourly flat fee." I said ok, cool. He was not my only quote I got, but he was a little more affordable than the others (I was quoted pretty much the same 6-7 hours in total by multiple companies). When they arrived he claimed that I was not clear when I told him about our move, which I was. He said that I did not ask him to bring the 2 trucks he had. Well Sir, it's not up to me to tell you the amount of space or people you need for the job. Also he scheduled me for 4 people it was only 3. Then I continued with my day and they started packing few things (many of them were already packed) he came with the smallest boxes and also complained about the many things we had. They went to pick up another U-Haul around 12:00pm so we can fit everything. They finished "packing" around 3:00pm They DID NOT COVER OR PROTECT THE BIG FURNITURE ITEMS. It took them more than the usual time to arrive to the destination, they stopped by 7-11. When they arrived and started unloading they broke many things. My walls were all dirty and some of them had dents. My dinner table was scratched due to the lack of protection and my other big items were also very dirty. THEY TOOK 11 HOURS TO COMPLETE THE JOB!! And if 11 hours doesn't sound crazy, THEY DID NOT UNPACK ANYTHING, NOTHING AT ALL. Since we were on the clock and we knew they will take another 5-7 hours to unpack we decided to end the move. Again the worst moving experience ever. We moved from a 3 BR house with only 2 adults living in it. MANY things were already packed and at the end we had to rush putting things in trash bags because it seemed like they were never going to finish. Around 7:30 pm they were getting the last few boxes, and the owner was trying to charge us more than what it was supposed to be. I HAVE NEVER SPENT 11 HOURS WITH "PROFESSIONALS" MOVING THE SAME ITEMS I HAD IN THE PAST. Ridiculous!! If you are reading this and you think, *oh sounds cheap,* DO NOT DO IT! I regret hiring his services, so I could help locals. I will never recommend this company to any one. -Edit from here downwards- It is easier to blame others than take responsibility for your own actions. Sadly he has nothing else to say that "I was untruthful in disclosing my real items and location" every thing else that I wrote was not mentioned on his reply since all of it is true. I am just going to add; 1- I was straight forward with all my information, since the moment I requested a quote I entered my information, the *from* to *where* *number of rooms* *number of boxes* and so forth. The location was very clear, when he gave me the invoice he knew my exact address. 2- We were never asked to buy more boxes. 3- The other companies I quoted came over to my house and knew all the items needed to be packed and transported. I still got maximum 7 hours from all, packing, disassembling, unpacking and assembling. These people did not unpack (yes, it was because they had been doing this job for over 11 hours, we were done at that point) 4- I did not disclose in my previous post the fact that he gave me a "discount" and the reason was that he wanted to charge me an additional hour for the time they spent eating. So if you count that, they took about 12 hours from start to finish. From 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. 5- He states that I fail to do "do my dutie" and not tell him what kind of vehicle he should bring, this just shows the lack of professionalism from his part. I am not going to the doctor and tell him/her what kind a medicine I need it to take, that's why you hire a professional. You do not rely on the customers imput, any one that works in customer service know that. You might take it into account but if you have been in the business long enough you know that, there's a real reason why we hire professional. I attempted to hire JD the Mover and I am glad that he showed his "true colors" prior to the move date. JD's prices were fair and he has great reviews on Thumbtack. However, when I requested an agreement for the work, he replied that I may need to find someone else to do the job and that he's decided that this job now is not a good fit. Sounds like very shady business practices and that he did not want to be held responsible, in the case that the move did not go as planned. His response to my review is not true. I inquired if there was a difference in price from weekdays to weekends. The entire text thread conversation has been uploaded. Who hires a business for a service, pays them hundreds of dollars with no agreement? That's absurd!!! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HIS SERVICES. read more

Very professional and everyone wore masks and move went smoothly. They showed up on time and moved everything efficiently and were careful to move and wrap things that needed to be covered. They offered a good estimate for the move with 3 people and a truck and worked hard to get the job done quickly. UPDATE: Here are the details from my side. Another review from 2/25 echoes my review (e.g., no protection for furniture and slow service). 1. Your following claim is false: "Didn't allow us to shrink wrap furniture." Just think who would pay for the moving service and forgo this option when moving expensive, large items only? Also, we did ask about wrapping and we were told that the items were going to be wrapped at the truck. 2. Confusion? Your invoice for deposit had wrong addresses and fuel fee you never explained before. You ended up sending me a new invoice with the fuel fee removed (I still paid) but put the wrong addresses again. On the moving date, you called me two times when we were already at the place to get my address which I had communicated to you over Yelp already. 3. Your invoice clearly stated 10am as the start time as we agreed to. Prior to issuing the invoice, you asked if you could start at 9am and I told you that because of our condo policy, you could start at 10am only. You came at 9:30am and we still tried to get the rear entrance opened for you, but the concierge at our condo was adamant that it could not start until after 10am. We even had to fight with the management because the new management tried to prohibit any moving that day. 4. I asked your team to wear the shoe cover first because, as you pointed out, there were muds and the weak wood flooring could easily be scratched. I told your team not to bother right away so your team never put it on and I had to mop the first floor. You were never inside during the move except when you came in for payment. You did not see how your team worked and I guess that's why you have incorrect understanding of what happened. 5. I already acknowledged that I was picky about the small scratches I told you about at the time and while I was under the impression that you were downplaying it, if that were not the case, I apologize. In any event, instead of paying you $425, you asked me to pay just $400 given the scratches. I still paid you $500 in total - so I did not ask for money for that small damage. However, there were so many other scratches that your team probably intentionally covered by placing the scratched portions towards the wall so that I could not discover until my friends and I started moving furniture to other places (the $25/hr extra fee that you charged me for nothing). You just confirmed that you did not bubble wrap in your response, which explain the damages I saw on my items. 6. I can count the exact number of items and fight over whether it were 15 or more but let's not go there. I can also take photos of all the scratches, but let's not waste any more time. My review is honest. --- The pricing was reasonable though there were hidden fees (+$25/hr for townhouse and +$50 for truck gas). The problem is that you get what you pay for. First, they are not fast. Spent nearly 3.5 hours to move only furniture (maybe 15 total with only 4 of them being large enough - sofa, bed frame, mattress, small media console) from a condo with a reserved elevator to a townhouse with a rear entrance. After seeing how slow they were at the condo (my friends and I had to move a couple items too), I had to tell them they can leave everything (except for the mattress) at the main floor of the townhome and my friends and I just carried the items to other floors. To be frank, I should not even have paid that $25/hr extra fee but I considered that as a tip. I paid additional tip too. So it turned out to be a $500 move that required me to carry items. If my friends and I did not carry, I think it would have been a 5.5hr move. Second, what's weird is that, they did not even try to pack or cover any furniture at the condo, instead they claimed that they'd secure and protect the items at the truck. So I tried to understand their slowness thinking that maybe they were covering items and securing them very carefully. I was wrong. Maybe they did cover a few items here and there but so many of my items were scratched up. To name a few, a leg of the side console, main door on the media console, the coffee table corners, the mirror frame, the side tables, and a trashcan all have marks and scratches that were not there before - many of them are deep. I initially only saw a couple small marks on the leg of the side console and thought everything was good. I pointed out small scratches to the owner, who downplayed the scratches, and it was not pleasant but whatever, I was picky at that point. But after discovering all these other scratches and marks, I was upset and decided to leave this review. At the end of the day, no item was completely broken or shattered but getting items scratched is not something you want when you move for about 25 miles and you pay professionals to avoid just that. In the future, I will just pay more and get people who will properly wrap items up before moving them. read more

Prompt, courteous, and good value for the money. It's nearly impossible to find movers who are willing to move a ingle piece of furniture for you. Many companies want a three-hour minimum and then charge you additional fees on top of that. JD was friendly and prompt. He never made me feel like mine was a small or unimportant job. These guys were fantastic! I was referred to this company and they did not disappoint. My original movers stood me up twice. I called JD and he set me up for the next day at 7am 7/5/2020. They packed and moved me. I have a great deal of items, clothing, shoes, furniture etc. you name it I had it. It was a long day and he kept his team focused. Sent out a general quote request on Yelp and received many answers. Most of the price ranges were comparable but JD had 3 people vs. 2 and a very competitive rate. Also no nickel and dime fees with a very upfront quote. The movers arrived just on time and worked straight through even when we encouraged them to have a lunch break and were away from the move site. Johnny & Mike moved me out of a townhouse and into an apartment on May 15th, 2020 and it was hands down the best moving experience I've had. JD Movers showed up not only on time but 15 minutes early. We even started the move early. The whole process start to finish was a breeze. When I contacted him for a quote he gave me exact figures, no hidden fees, no per item costs. He gave me all of the pertinent information - such as needing to purchase and cover my own mattress and box spring. He then sent me an invoice to pay the deposit. The final portion was due after the move. It took under two hours to move me out of one place and into the other with about 25 minutes of travel time in between. I wanted to leave an honest review with my experience working with JD the mover. Pros: They were prompt/early. They are very nice guys and they were careful with the furniture as well as prepared to do what it takes for the job. Cons: The pricing is very expensive. They charge hourly and I was quoted 3-4 hours for the job. The work was exactly what was described and despite that, it ended up being Rounded UP to 7 hours. There's only 2 older gentlemen and though I understand, they moved at a relaxing pace and shot the breeze a bit too much. To save n time & money, I helped carry 30% of the load because if not, it would have taken another hour or 2. I had bedroom furniture only. There was 0 negotiation room in the end despite also working and they charged to the max, including a gas fee & the hourly rate does NOT stop when they are traveling. If you use this company, I recommend disasembling your furniture before they arrive, as well as staying on them to consistently work. I also recommend that you aren't moving at too great a distance. In my opinion and from my experience, it should have been a $350 job due to the amount of furniture. It was more than double that. read more
