I know this review is basically 1.5 years later but I wanted to use the bathrooms and see how it held up before writing this review and it just became overdue. Anyways, I would not recommend Robert and his team for any similar jobs. I'm honestly shocked by the positive reviews and felt I needed to post mine because I found Robert through yelp and feel mislead. There are a lot of things that have issues now. The grout lines in the shower are flaking off in layers because it was not done properly the first time. The niche that was built has a lip that holds water and won't drain. The vanity is leveled but the gap between the wooden cabinet and the slab counter top is not. One of the doors of the vanity was installed poorly and is now loose. The laminate flooring tiles are separated in one of the bathrooms. There is so much flex when you walk on it even since the day it was installed. I regret not insisting on leveling the floor before install but Robert told us his expert opinion was that it wasn't necessary. We asked Robert to do measurements on the day we signed the contract so we can order enough materials including extra for the floor and shower. We ordered exactly as he told us but when install came, we needed to go out and buy more bc of mistakes or miscalculation. This lead to needing to buy completely different flooring for the other bathroom bc the store didn't have enough of the original one we picked out. The shower had rust coming out and his plumber was sent out to fix it (the plumber wasn't present during the initial install, FYI). There was so much extra material with the exhaust fan duct he installed and there was papers left inside that blocked the vent opening. The towel rod is not leveled. We had to reinstall one of the toilets ourselves within a year bc of a leak cause by the rubber ring. Everyone on the team was very nice and polite, however, with the exception of the plumber, I would not consider their craftsmanship and skill level to be the level of someone who works in construction as their main profession. There is a lot more I could say but I'll end it here. If all my issues were cosmetic, I'd give them 3 stars. But considering the fact that a lot of these issues had to be fixed by us or can't be fixed now but only the next time we do another renovation (flooring, shower tiles and niche, uneven patching and texture on walls/ceiling), 2 stars seems fair. I would not recommend King Legacy Construction to anyone looking for a renovation/remodel.

And instead of trying to get me to do the most expensive thing possible, Jerry figured out how to take out half the wall and build a new half, with a seamless connection. It looks absolutely great! Jerry is very skilled, with a finesse you don't often find, very knowledgeable, and also patient and helpful. He came out a couple times, to make sure he had done a very thorough inspection and would give me a correct estimate. He also built two support pillars with ring blocks, to support another retaining wall in my backyard. And when they ran into a snag - unexpected cement underneath - no one complained, Jerry didn't change the price, they just did a beautiful job. And they are friendly and nice on top of it! Always showing up when they say they're going to, very polite, very personable, always taking the time to show you little things, and all at a very reasonable price. Tom is the owner of Shenon Construction, and as first time homeowners with a master bedroom addition being our first construction project, we approached Tom both cautiously and slowly. We first talked 8 years ago and Tom was so incredibly patient, answering all our questions and going round after round with meetings. He led us through HVAC and window considerations before we even committed to the project. He subsequently drafted a thoughtful and detailed plan, connecting us with his designer to get things started. Enter COVID and our infamously slow city planning department. It took almost five years just to get our permit approval. Tom kept advising us throughout and his recommended designer diligently re-submitted plan after plan. Tom never showed an ounce of impatience and after five years, a project needs to be re-bid. Impressively, Tom encouraged us to price compare contractors once again. We knew Tom so well at this point and he still carefully re-walked us through every step of the process and cost. Once again, no one came close to Tom and Shenon in their ability to earn our trust. When we finally kicked things off at the end of July, we were introduced to our project manager, Adam. Hands down the most detail-oriented, organized, and responsible person we've ever met, Adam was at our house almost every day. Memorably, he echoed Tom in saying every tiny detail or concern goes through them. From then on, we saw every worker arrive on time doing incredible work. We discussed endlessly the closet sizes, number of light fixtures, which windows pass code, who does lead remediation, replacing the basement access, where to fit a sun tunnel, what height to make our deck, yes or no to gutters, color choice after color choice, and on and on. Adam smiled throughout, had answers to every question, and always replied with a 'just let me know'! Everything was built to meet Tom and Adam's high standards. We received to-do lists weekly, a spread out payment schedule, and met with scores of expert sub-contractors. Tom and Adam did all this while juggling around our living in the home, limiting dust and noise, and being ever mindful of our cat. Adam went above-and-beyond here, as well, responding to our group text chats anytime day or night and was excellent handling our day-to-day needs while sending the big project questions to Tom. We ultimately became friendly with these guys and can't imagine any homeowner not feeling the same. It was amazing to see our room go from foundation to framing to finishing--everything happened so quickly! In fact, the whole project took about five months, wrapping up with the final inspection an entire month ahead of schedule. We now have a wood-floor master bedroom with a large picture window, an subway-tiled master bathroom with wet room shower/bath combo, a much needed walk-in-closet, and a lovely wood deck patio with a pergola. We absolutely love our new space, and we couldn't be more thankful to Shenon. We've heard from friends and neighbors about construction nightmares, littered with no shows, hard to reach GCs, shoddy workmanship, and unfulfilled follow-ups. Shenon construction is the complete opposite. Tom keeps every promise and provides options for aesthetics and saving money, but never compromises on quality. Adam's care and hard work makes the project smooth and keeps the excitement of building fun and alive. They're just awesome, and we can't recommend them enough.
