Hired this local help to to repair non termite dry rot on our home. See attached photos of the work done. JDM said they would charge $45 per hour, i agreed. A few days later JDM showed up and said he would finish the job for $600, I agreed. He wrote $600 on a piece of paper, see photos. A few days later JDM showed up and supposedly finished. See pictures, those are the finished products then he demanded $945 before he would provide me with a invoice which i needed to send to refi bank. On the first day i paid him $110. Total cost to me is $1,055. He refused to do any more. He should refund the money i paid, minus the amount over $600. That would be $455.00 so i can finish this crappy work. In reply to James comment: James at least be honest. Both sides of the garage doors were fine. And all wood was level when you started. Your finished product is what is illustrated in photos. I had a broken fence post for months, and when I finally reached out to contractors on Yelp for estimates, I quickly zeroed in on James from JDM's response, because it was quickly received, personable and quoted a fair hourly rate. After several emails back & forth (in which he patiently answered my many questions), I booked him to do the work. We ended up having to reschedule his arrival time (for which he was sincerely apologetic), and when he showed up he got right to work. I showed him the broke. Fence post and what I thought was the broken off post in the concrete foundation. James immediately pointed out that the post was actually never set into the concrete but rather simply rested on top (and had rotted away at the bottom), something no one else had previously noticed or pointed out. He assured me he had the right metal bracket to screw into the concrete that would hold the new fence post securely, so I left him to his work. James room time to replace the main post and the 2 supporting boards, and then created a custom form for pouring new concrete to secure the post. He let me know he would leave it for 2-3 hours to set dns then would return to remove the concrete form and screw the fence sections into the newly-installed and secured post. Right on time, he returned and completed the job. I'm really impressed with the quality of James' work, his hard work ethic (he never stopped moving!) and his genuine and patient personality. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. I texted him about helping remove my shower arm (simple job right) he broke my pipe (the one inside the shower wall) and he said he was going to get a new one and fix it. He left saying he had fixed, but when I went to check it wasn't fix. Good thing I didn't turn on the shower because can you imagine the damage to my drywall!! I hired him to install two retractable screen doors. He drilled holes in my cement and stucco to anchor these doors. I will post the photos of what he did. Ultimately, the doors didn't fit where I needed them to go and he should've let me know instead of just putting them anyway he could. I had to pay someone else to come remove them and now I have holes in my stucco along with anchors (that didn't even need to go there I found out) that need to be repaired. I wrote and asked for half my money back, which they refunded me. But when I had a professional come out and install the door properly, he agreed I shouldn't have had to pay a dime for this disaster and he should be paying me to have the work fixed. read more

Very reasonable estimates and never over budget unless there was a surprise (dry rot has no shame and creeps deeper unexpectedly). I've relie all gb 5 d on them for close to two years now, and referred my own mom his way. She needed to retrofit halls and bathrooms for my father to help Dad maintain his independence and keep living smmst home instead of sending him to a convalescent home to die like so many families have to do.for upgrading her back deck and installing handrails and upgrading the bathrooms for when my father's illness progressed I've hired them to replace and frame bedroom doors, fence repairs, install cabinetry, even emergency plumbing when both bathrooms blocked up the same morning. The owner and contractor James are hard to come by, he does it all, and his assistants are fast and friendly. No complaints at all, although that one light switch was forever upside down after that incident. It gave that bathroom some much needed atmosphere though. read more

Hired him to install a new shower manifold and fixture. He left without testing for leaks! Who does that?. Massive leaks in Two solder and didn't use teflon tape to install shower spout and it leaked too! And he charged me $50 for "parts" - I had everything except a small section (6") of copper pipe! I had to hire a second (licensed) plumber to rip out and rebuild all the solder joints so the job cost more than double what it should have! Then, he ran to Home Depot and charged me $50 for "parts" which was nothing more than 20" of copper pipe. Would not recommend. read more

Sprung a leak on our main water line, James responded quickly to our Yelp request. Nice guy, came out to fix it the next day. He made a huge mess, and his repair was done very poorly. I hired JDM to install a Bidet in my home. The work was done with no problems. The Installer, James Moore, indicated they do all kinds of home repair services, so I showed him my outdoor shutters that needed sanding, filling, re-sanded and painted. He said to call the office and set up an appointment. I did and he arrived as planned on July 28. He said the job would take 3 to 3.5 hours. He worked 3 hours and all he accomplished was removing four of the eight shutters. He said it was too hot to work on them in my driveway so he took them home. We agreed that one shutter needed to be replaced due to dry rot. I NEVER HEARD FROM HIM, despite repeated phone calls and messages requesting he call, UNTIL AUGUST 2. He said he would be finishing up that day but he did not show up until 3:30 PM. He worked 3 hours and said he was finished. Upon inspection, he had not filled in and sanded smooth the screw holes in the shutters but had merely painted over them. I told him this was unacceptable. He said he didn't have the right materials and would come back August 3. He showed up at 10:45 but said he had to eat his lunch first. Two hours later he said he was finished. Upon inspection his work was still unacceptable. Two shutters were finished "okay" but the remaining were not filled and sanded, just painted over again. I told him I would pay him off just to get rid of him so I could hire someone reliable. I paid him for 6 hours of labor that took him over a week to accomplish. James arrived promptly on time, on a Sunday afternoon. He quickly sized up the problem, a failing overhead fluorescent fixture in my kitchen; I had put new fluorescent tubes in, but it still wouldn't light up. James suggested several ways of dealing with it: 1-Replace the fixture; at 30+ years old, was not unlikely to just be worn out. 2-Replace the "ballast". (He observed, the ballast might cost more than a whole new fixture - good to know!) 3-Check the wall switch (by far, the cheapest, and easiest to fix). He replaced the wall switch - at first, no luck, but then, with some attention to "seating" the new bulbs more securely, SUCCESS. My initial impression of James was good, but NOT any longer. After the need for him to make FIVE trips to my home to complete the plumbing repairs for which he was paid, including a simple repair of a leak under my bathroom sink, the work is STILL not satisfactorily done!!! In fact, the leak is worse than it was to begin with, and also now the sink stopper does not work as he disconnected the hardware. I cannot not use my sink as the stopper is stuck in the closed position. I have been more than patient with James. Today was the final straw; he was to arrive AGAIN at 10:00 am this morning. He did NOT show up nor respond in any way to several texts and a phone voice mail. I have mentioned to him that a refund of the what he charged me for the sink leak repair would be appropriate.
