To begin with, my hair wash felt extremely rushed. She was done washing my hair in barely two minutes. I could see another stylist washing another client's hair nearby and taking the time to do it properly, but nothing of that sort happened with me. Their haircut service description clearly states, "Every haircut includes a consultation, blow dry and scalp massage." There was definitely no scalp massage for me, not even for a minute. Secondly, I found Jane's tone and body language quite snappy and rude. During the consultation, I initially told her I wanted the first layer of my face-framing cut to come down to my chin. Within the first five minutes of her starting my haircut, I mentioned can i actually have it little more shorter than chin. She told me yes that she could always go shorter later and that she was only doing a brief cut initially. When she started drying my hair, I reminded her again that I wanted it shorter, and she said she would do more cutting after drying. However, when she eventually said she was done, I pointed out that she still hadn't cut it shorter. She then snapped at me and said that I had told her I didn't want it short. At that point, I genuinely wondered if she had been even paying attention to any of the conversations we had after she started my haircut. I had also told her that it was my birthday and that I was getting my hair done for my birthday celebration that evening. I specifically asked if she could add curls at the back while styling it so that my hair would at least stay styled through the evening. Unfortunately, the styling was very poor. The curls didn't even last until I got home and were completely gone within an hour. I also realized afterward that my scalp was still oily, which made me feel that my hair hadn't been washed properly in the first place. By then, it was too late for me to wash and restyle my hair before my birthday party that night, which was extremely disappointing. I regret going there for my birthday. Another irritating part of the experience was her long nails repeatedly scratching my neck and face while she worked on my hair. She did apologised once but it still continued happening throughout the service. Overall, I was really disappointed, especially since I had specifically mentioned that this appointment was for my birthday. I definitely won't be returning to Jane, and based on my experience, I would not recommend her for hair styling services.

That put me in the hands of master colorist Jessica, who is excellently knowledgeable, honest about level-setting expectations, and has an admirable focus on hair health (given that I was requesting almost white-blonde hair from a previously dyed base color). She accomplished remarkable results in one sitting, with some clever improvisation, though I needed a second appointment to reach full platinum (due to the condition of my hair). Notably, because this is an Aveda salon, my hair texture remained super soft despite the intense bleaching. They really care for your hair and give you guidelines to maintain it. My second appointment was with Brad, who is a recent hire, gifted colorist, and very pleasant company. He took me to full platinum and gave me advice for keeping my hair color icy. I was more than pleased with the results. I'd like to add a special shoutout to Acacia, who manages appointments and makes you feel very much at home. The vibe in the salon is relaxing and spa-like -- which is a mercy during lengthy color appointments. Cannot recommend this place enough, especially if you are committed to natural, vegan hair care.
