I had made an appointment for Flat Twist braid style. I am an Indian, and based on my hair length and texture I was guided in the right direction to go with corn rows. I asked about appropriation and made sure I was not being culturally insensitive. I shed a tear when I saw the final outcome. I love it!! Massive shout out to Shara who did a phenomenal job. I just can't recommend her and the team enough. Very nice, warm and welcoming ladies who run the establishment with enthusiasm and have fun while doing what they love. Shara and Ayesha are top notch, 100% the best stylists in our area. I have locs, and I go to Shara for my loc maintenance. She takes the ultimate care to protect and nurture your hair while achieving precise and beautiful loc maintenance and styles. My hair has grown tremendously since I began going to Shara and Ayesha. My previous stylist was really nice, but she was rolling/twisting my locs too tightly after each maintenance. I believe that's probably why my hair didn't achieve the growth and health that it should have...because she was placing too much stress on the hair roots. You won't run into that problem with Shara and Ayesha. The salon has a professional and relaxed atmosphere, and everyone there is always in good spirits with great humor. And the background music is always on point. I have to admit that I tend to fall asleep while I am getting my hair done, but that's how chill the vibe is at the salon. I was hesitant to add this review because I wanted to recognize what a great place this was and how skilled Shara and Ayesha are. Most definitely, I highly recommended this salon. However I kinda wanted to keep this gem of a salon to myself because I don't want everyone running there after I post this. I need to be able to book my monthly loc maintenance! Eka does awesome styles and twists. I'm comfortable in seeing her if Ayesha is booked. ----- I've been following Ayesha, the owner, for years from place to place. So happy she has her own salon. There is another woman who works for her, Kris, who also does nails. Ayesha specializes in natural hair - braids, twists, locs, weaves, etc. I know she will not let me leave looking like a hot mess. She also is by far, the best when it comes to hair cuts. She's done everything from a trim to a bob to the Big Chop on me. My sister wanted locs so I scheduled a consultation with Ayesha back in early March. She told us that it would be $85, which was a good price. Our dad passed away March 21, so dealing with that, my sisters 11th birthday was on April 27th so I booked an appointment with Ayesha for April 23 at Noon. She wanted locs for her birthday. The day comes, I took a couple hours off of work and pulled my sister out of school all day. We get to the salon 20mins early and the shop was closed. There was another guy waiting to see Ayesha as well, he told me his appointment was at 11. Ayesha messaged me while in there asking if I can come later at 230 or the next day because she had time...... I told her that I was already here and pulled my sister out of school for this appointment. I asked her if she had a Saturday available. No response. Again, I'm inside the shop with my sister and we was waiting for a response. Enough time passed and I messaged her nevermind we'll find someone else. She responded "okay" right away. Now I was pissed off, I took work off and pulled my sister out of school the whole day, just so she can get locs for her birthday. Like I told Ayesha in text, she was unprofessional as fuck.. As a professional and common courtesy, if you're not going to make it, give a phone call or a text message as soon as you know, not less than 20mins before an appointment! On top of that, there was a guy already waiting there since 11AM, so she knew she wasn't going to make it. No excuse. That was bullshit and I hope this review finds somebody. read more

I've been going to Ayesha at Unique Stylez since its grand opening this time last year. She cares for my mother's, aunt's, niece's, and sister's hair. We all have natural hair which she keeps in beautiful health. She started my locs in Feb. 2014 and I love them. She is able to style them creatively and makes sure they forming correctly. Her prices are very reasonable compared to other stylist that do the same thing. Now they cut men's hair and there are several stylist you can choose from to work with your specific hair type. I've been going to Ayesha for 4 of the 5 years that I have been in the NW. I have fine frizzy hair and it's difficult to manage. It was hard to find a stylist here who knows African American hair. I'm so happy to have found Ayesha because she has managed to keep my hair healthy and stylish. I love the shop and the vibe is always mellow. A very comfortable atmosphere. I came in to get my hair colored purple by Portia Fields. After a bunch of issues she was dealing with, I was able to get an appointment. And the dying process was bad enough on it's own, she pulled my hair instead of asking me to move my head. Even though I was going from red to purple and she knew that ahead of time, she didn't have any bleaching products in the practically empty salon. My husband had to go to the 7-11 just to get me water, as they had nothing for customers. I got to watch the others eat and drink though, as a "regular" came in with food and they sat around eating and drinking in front of us. So, since I was stupid enough to take her word for it, that we didn't need to bleach it. After the incredibly painful rinse, she said that the discount she offered didn't cover styling and I didn't have enough to pay for the extra charges that were coming in suddenly, I left with wet hair. Once I was dry, I looked in the mirror and it was black. Way black. After she promised to fix it, I was unable to get ahold of her. In the meantime my hands, clothes, neck, and couch were constantly purple. It's been over a month now, and I wash my hair every other week. Every time I washed my hair with a color saving shampoo, the dye leeched out in large amounts, like she never rinsed it completely. By my 3rd wash so much color had washed out (this was supposed to be permanent btw) that the bottom of my hair was closer to what I wanted, but the top of my hair was showing red again, as well as a small amount of purple threaded through. My hair has stayed pretty much like that since. A good way to imagine it is I have a damn color mullet. A dirty red on top, and an ever changing purple on the rest, which is mid-back length. I found her on a discount site, which she left after my review, and refused to pay to fix it or fix it herself (as if I would let her touch my hair again) and now refuses to take my calls, even though I've been very nice to her about it all. She's a horrible stylist who cuts corners, doesn't fix her mistakes, and hides behind her voicemail. I do not recommend her, or her salon. If I could give less than one star I would. read more

After a terrible experience I had with trying to start locs with loc extensions (not done by Ayesha) she worked miracles fixing the damage caused by the other stylist.
