I can't believe it's been 4 years of seeing Charesse; time flies when you're having fun. I couldn't imagine trusting anyone else with my hair. She's been amazing with anything and everything I've asked her for. She even gives good hair tips and tutorials so follow her on insta! I have a wedding coming up and wouldn't want to leave my hair in anyone else's hands. My hair has also experienced the most growth ever under her care! If you know me, you know that I HATE getting my hair cut. I have trust issues, and have never ever had anyone who could cut and color hair perfectly. I have had crooked hair growing up...and eventually, as I got older, I just cut my own hair (even though it was crooked too haha). Charesse is like the dream hair stylist that finishes your sentences. She reads your mind. She knows what looks good on you and how it's done and how she will do it. Let me say, my hair was looking a little faded before my last appt and it had been a few months since I had my hair done...and I was still getting compliments! I'm talking my hair had split ends and my blonde was getting brassy...but guess what? People was loving my hair STILL! they said they loved my balayage...that is how you know you have a dope stylist! I had virgin hair and was picky with who I wanted to dye my hair first. One of my best friends recommended coming to Charesse! I wasn't in a hurry to dye my hair so I made the appointment for May back in September. I'm really glad I went to Charesse! She is very knowledgable and for a noob like me, she was very patient with explaining the dyeing process and the care that I'd have to do afterwards. This is a loooong over due review! I've gotten my haircut from Charesse twice already. Once two years ago and again just last month. The two times I have came in to get a cut I've left out smiling! My first visit from the last years, was great!I had long length hair at that time and I needed some layers. I was very hesitant but I had full faith in her to give me what I wanted. She did exactly that! Medium length hair with long layers. I loved it. Recently the last month I came in to get another cut from her. This is a review long overdue! I stumbled upon Charesse through her IG and managed to book an appointment with her as a first time client. I've gotten a haircut and one balayage session done by her last year. If you know me, throughout my life I've ALWAYS had virgin black dry frizzy hair. The year before I met Charesse, I decided to dye my hair for the first time on a whim.... womp womp womp... in the PHILIPPINES. Boy... was that a mistake. It was basically like letting my 12 year old nephew dye my hair with dollar store box dye in the dark! Until I met this remarkable woman! I'm not the kind of girl who usually pampers or spoils herself but I really wanted a change. I found Charesse's page and was excited to see great reviews but was still a bit skeptical. I was brought here by fellow yelper Kim P. My bestie and her bestie are friends, so I guess we are bestie-in-laws. If you've read some of my other reviews for salons, I get really nervous when it comes to my hair. I have curly hair (think Simba of Lion King), so it's not always the easiest for everyone to work with. As I get older, I realize that a good hairstylist, is simply a good hairstylist. Charesse falls into this category. You know my litmus test: the shampoo bowl. If I wasn't happily married, I would have this woman's baby. She scrubbed and massaged my hair so good that I had to catch my mouth from falling open. She deep conditioned, flat-ironed and layered my hair, and her prices are super reasonable! She took the time to go over some hair products with me. The benefit here is two fold. First, she doesn't sell product for profit (at least not yet and although she should), so she shared her hair knowledge just because she loves to see beautiful hair. Second, my hair feels silky, but not heavy--not an easy feat for my hair. I usually don't flat iron because it doesn't last long for me, but the lion is still tamed straight. Not a bump in sight. I think one thing everyone who goes to get their hair done can agree on is: We appreciate it when you do more than listen, but understand exactly what we want and need. Charesse has fulfilled this expectation of mine every time. Just like most women, I believe there is no one else in the world with hair like mine and I'm extremely nervous when it comes to letting people do anything to my hair, whether it be coloring or cutting. I gave Charesse a chance after seeing multiple clients of hers who were all of different ethnic backgrounds. This assured me that she wasn't only used to doing stick straight hair and had a good amount of experience with different hair types. I went to Charesse a couple years back and had her fix my at-home dye job. She literally did everything I wanted and then some. I didn't plan on getting my hair cut being that I was scared to let anyone cut my hair other than my mom, but I allowed her to do so and she did a wonderful job. When I told her "just a trim" she knew a trim didn't mean 6 inches like some others tend to think it means. Because of this, I returned to her again when I decided to go blonde. Charesse does exactly what she says she'll do; she'll take care of you. She's constantly having promotions and deals go on for her new and returning clients. PROS: Best haircut I've ever had. Charesse is an expert on thick, Asian hair. Extremely knowledgable, very honest and upfront about what looks good and works for your type of hair. CONS: I'll never be able to get my hair cut by anyone else and will have to live near Charesse for the rest of my life, so I hope she wants to move to Hawai'i in a few years... I found Charesse by chance on Yelp and decided hmmm, maybe I need a haircut. I hadn't had one in months and it was long, heavy, lost all layers and just plain drab. I have thick Asian hair and it's really hard to find anyone that can deal with this. I looked through her Instagram photos and found a cut I thought would work with my hair - mid length, blunt, with lots of long layers. However, I was torn between shortening my layers and still being able to put my hair up in a ponytail. Historically it was always one or the other. Well, Charesse cleaned up my layers, cut about 4 inches off and thinned it out with a razor and I was still able to put my hair up. It was my dream come true. The cut was so flattering I would check myself out in every mirror or window I passed all day long. Still do and my cut was back in November of 2014. I also got my hair colored by Charesse a few weeks after my cut. Initially I had wanted to lighten my hair significantly (I have naturally jet black hair so it would be some work getting it as light as I wanted it) , but Charesse had suggested something more subtle due to me not styling my hair and doing the more I-just-got-back-from-the-beach-messy look, saying it wouldn't really work as well. At first I was kind of like, uhhh, well I still want it really light, but okay? When she was done it was really subtle and I wasn't sure if it was what I wanted, but as I would look through her work again on Instagram I agreed it definitely would look odd on my hair if I didn't style it everyday and am now really happy with my more subtle coloring. So in the end, Charesse really knows best and knows what the hell she's talking about :) I seriously cannot wait until my next color/cut in a couple of months. I kind of want to get my hair cut/colored all the time to see what she can create. She is a genius with thick, Asian hair and overall very experienced. Seriously, worth every penny. I walked into the salon with hair that I thought I was happy with ("thought" being the key word)- no big complaints just a trim and to lighten up my color. After combing through Yelp looking for great stylists close to home, I stumbled across Charesse's reviews - and her Instagram account. I was wowed by her evident expertise, especially the balayage. I scheduled an appointment alllll the way in February, but Charesse put me on her waitlist after a consultation and I got in two weeks after that! Yay! I'm a natural brunette, but I'd been keeping up with monthly double process appointments since April to maintain platinum blonde hair. I'd had a little more depth added at a different salon, but I decided that it would be nice to have something lower maintenance while keeping the overall blonde impression. I asked Charesse for a natural looking root halo and a partial balayage, a dusting for split ends and long layers to add a little more volume. Apart from her color magic, Charesse stands out for three reasons: 1) She is SO FAST. I booked an appointment for two hours and I was out in 1.5. I'm used to appointments taking 2 - 5 hours. 2) As another reviewer has mentioned, her shampoo technique is divine. 3) I have never had softer hair than when I walked out of that salon. It smelled good and it stayed soft for days, holding up through dry shampoo and various stylings. Has it really been 7 years girl?! Once you go to this girl, you can't ever go to anyone else. Believe that! When I was 18 years old, the inverted bob that was made famous by Rihanna from the Umbrella music video was THE hair cut to have. I went to someone else at the time to get that - an old family friend aka my mom's hairstylist to get it done. Meh. Didn't really care much about hair because I knew it would grow back. It was cute, I guess. Grown out? NOT so cute. I looked like one of those weird anime characters who had the longest bangs but the shortest length. A reversed mullet if you will. I'm probably exaggerating but whatever. Didn't like it. But I knew I needed to get it fixed and for a decent price. I don't know many working college students who can afford hair from Gene Juarez w/o a hook up or a parent that buys them everything. But I knew I had a friend who was going to beauty school and figured I'd give it a shot. I went to Chareese maybe a year or two ago for a color correct. I had gotten my hair balayage'd/ombre'd for the first time at the hair salon that usually cuts my hair. That stylist unfortunately, did not know how to handle asian hair since it's so dark, I had color on only the top part of my hair and the underneath was all black...it was a disaster. I eagerly made an appointment with Chareese and thank god!!! She was able to fix it and make it look so much better!! Ever since that, I seriously can't even imagine going to anyone else to get my hair colored, I trust her completely with any and all suggestions that she has. Not only is Charesse so kind and funny but she also knows her stuff. I've gone to her for a couple of glosses and now 2 colors. I was lucky enough to get a Saturday color appointment...which let me tell you, is like gold or better. I think I have found my hair GURU! I'm not one to keep my hair maintained every couple of months, the last time I got a hair cut was 7 months ago, but it is always nice to leave feeling in love with your hair ...and that's just what happened. I found her on Instagram and it was like finding a hidden gem. When I get my hair done, I always look forward to getting my hair shampooed. I can always tell if someone is going to do my hair perfect or terrible by the way they shampoo, lets just say Charesse was sent from the SHAMPOO GODS!! The best shampoo I have had ever in life, she even massaged my freaking head, I was literally blown away. You definitely can tell she is passionate about her work, just by the way she gave me information on my hair type, texture, and what products to use for it. I went in with a cut I had in mind and she actually listened and made suggestions on how we could make the cut more suitable for my hair ...she even demonstrated how I should curl my hair to achieve the look I want. Back in June I was in desparate need of a 'new do' and I stumbled upon Charesse here on yelp, and then I stalked her IG. She did such amazing work! When I found out that she was booked up for 4 months, I was so bummed. I made an appt with someone at her salon for a cut (by Yale - she's awesome!), and then I got a chance to meet Charesse...I let her know that I needed color/balayage. And guess what?!...there was a opening in a month, so I booked it! When appt time came for Charesse, it was fabulous! She's so talented and knowledgeable...she listened to what I wanted, and also made some suggestions as well. My hair turned out so good! The color was perfect, and exactly how I wanted it! Since that first appt, I seen her another time for a gloss/toner.
