She is very talented with what she does and very very attentive to make sure to get you what you want. We always have fun conversations as well. I'm Asian and our hair isn't the easiest to work with. I usually get my hair done when I visit Korea (but then COVID happened) or choose to find a Korean salon here, but I wasn't able to find one in Seattle nearby that lived up to my expectations. I also don't change my hair much - last time I got it chemically treated was almost 3 years ago, which I think makes chemical treatments tricky. Bleaching prior to coloring took a VERY LONG time but Tomoko was very patient with me and made sure we achieved the color I wanted. And despite bleaching for quite a while, I don't feel like my hair was damaged much (if at all). Oh, and oh my god, the head massage while washing my hair was A M A Z I N G. I think it was the best head massage I've ever gotten and I sort of wished I could stay there forever. The salon isn't big, but very well prepped for the pandemic (they check for your temperature prior to entering the salon, ask to wash your hands, everyone wears a mask and currently they don't use a blowdryer to dry your hair to minimize risks - they used a bonnet hood attachment for me) and I felt safe during both my appointments. As for pricing, it definitely isn't cheap but I think the salon lives up to the price and everything is transparent and as listed on their website.

I spent over $600 at this salon and left with a haircut and color that were both significantly worse than when I arrived. I was initially recommended to Meg by the salon staff, so I trusted that she was an appropriate stylist for what I was asking for. Unfortunately, she ran out of time during my appointment and rushed through the service. My color was left uneven, and her attempt to correct it with a toner was also rushed. When I got home, my hair was visibly uneven in tone and color. The haircut was shocking. One side was approximately four inches longer than the other, and large sections had been chopped into blunt, uneven pieces despite my explicitly asking for that not to be done. It was so poorly cut that I could not wear my hair down. The appointment itself was also unnecessarily uncomfortable. At one point, two people were drying my hair simultaneously, pulling and tugging in opposite directions. It was painful and felt incredibly rushed and chaotic. Even the products I purchased were incorrect. I was given two conditioners instead of a shampoo and conditioner and had to return to exchange them. I immediately contacted the salon about the haircut and color. I was given another appointment with Meg to address the problems, but the correction made things worse: my hair was darkened several shades beyond what I had requested, while the haircut remained visibly uneven. At that point, I contacted the salon multiple times asking for help resolving the situation. I received no response. I eventually called and was told that my concerns would be discussed and that someone would contact me the following day. That was three days ago. Still nothing. This is what I find most unacceptable. Mistakes happen. What matters is how a business handles them. I was willing to give this salon a second chance, willing to have them correct the work, and willing to communicate directly to resolve the situation. Instead, after spending more than $600, I was essentially ignored. The combination of poor workmanship and a complete lack of follow-through from the salon is unacceptable at this price point. I would strongly recommend taking your business elsewhere if you are looking for a salon that stands behind its work and responds when a customer has a legitimate problem.

I was surprised that the haircut itself only took about 10 minutes, and I am not sure if the length was checked. Once I washed my hair (a couple of days later) and it was straight again, I noticed that the left side was shorter than the right and reached out to the stylist. The stylist said she would just round out the right side to match the left. I mentioned that I wanted to grow out the left side a bit before having corrections made because I didn't want any more length taken off. She said that that would count as a whole new haircut.
