What to write about Jeannie's... All I can see is WOW! I stopped in after getting my nails done next door at Glam Nails and have been going there ever since! Whether it be a wash and style, or even a grey coverage, blond highlights and a cut... it's beautiful! Right off West St and easy parking, Lisa does my hair beautifully and I leave pleased! There is also another hairstylist in there that I got a wash/style from that was very good! BONUS that I even take my Aunt Kathy weekly for her hair wash and fix up... and every few months when needed for a haircut and highlight! Jeannie puts some nice music on for Aunt Kathy and treats her like a QUEEN! Really good local salon and service with exceptionally NICE people! Go get a wash and blowdry! read more

Enjoyed a nice facial and leg waxing along with my first manzillian. I was made to feel very comfortable. Very nice facility, friendly staff, lots of parking. Highly recommend and hope to travel back to the area soon for another visit ! I had purchased a groupon for a cut and color for 60$ which is a great deal considering "normally" at this place it costs 130$. However this salon is nothing to write home about. While it was clean, quiet for the most part and fairly organized the services were sub par. Jeanie the owner was there and was a bit unprofessional for someone whose job it is to make people happy with their style. She snapped at one of the workers who tried to help her and I didn't like that. Overall my color was good however the stylist only added moose to my hair. Normally in a salon they add moose, heat protector, sealant, shine spray something, anything but not this time. I feel like I could go to a much more elegant place for 130$ services and be pampered a lot better. Moral of the story if I didn't have a groupon I probably wouldn't return. Tiffany is amazing. She really knows how to do hair and is just great. I hope she finds her way out soon. Jeanie was unprofessional on the phone and in person. Seems to have issues communicating. This place is super small- it's really hard to relax. I would not call it a spa unless you're okay with a spa being a tiny room. I also think this place is over reaching. The hair cut costs are super high and it's not in the best area of Annapolis. It's not Forest Drive but it is in a small strip mall where parking can be a pain. For the prices they charge the ambiance/location just doesn't match. Again far reaching. Also the owner is not a hair stylist/hair dresser (at least not to my knowledge). I'm confused as to why she owns a hair salon. The walls / wall decorations are awful. Downright tacky. Rarely do I even notice anything like that but the wall color is harsh. I would pick lavender or pale blue not the nasty blue color. OH and I guess the unprofessional owner read this review and took the time out to look me up and said I was there in 1988 (I was 2 years old then...wrong person SAME name. I used a living social deal for a massage and my massage with Steve was amazing. I work probably 50 hours a week on my feet so it was long overdue, and he gave me just what I needed. First off, let me saying finding an excellent massage therapist that isn't booked up completely is a challenge, and I was delighted that when I called there were openings that day and the next day, even when they're running a living social deal? Crazy. Everyone there was so friendly and professional, and the massage was so great I feel like a brand new person after leaving. You've got to check it out at least, if they're still running the living social it's only $39/hr, you'll love it. $79 for a massage is already a pretty good price, I know I'll be going back. read more

It's hard to own a small business but I think this place does great. They are reasonably priced and clean for the lost part. I own a spa myself so I am a bit judgmental, but found it quaint but cozy. For a small business it runs well and professional. The massage was great and it was quiet and relaxing. The location is on west street so sometimes traffic can be hard. I have been coming to Jeanie's Salon since my freshman year of high school in 2004. I've gotten my hair done for all events, up until my wedding and baby showers. Every single visit I have gone has been amazing. Lisa is by far the best stylist anyone could possibly go to in the area. Finally, made it in, in person to see if Jeanie's would live up to my expectations-which are of course always high. I was on a tight schedule, but took a chance that I could walk in on a late Saturday morning without an appointment, and I'm sure glad I did. The atmosphere was pleasant and welcoming. Cool contemporary jazz was playing, but not too loud; and homemade sweets set out for those with a sweet tooth was a temping touch. I felt like they gave me the VIP treatment, but without breaking the bank. My wait was fairly short, and while I waited Jeanie gave me a shampoo and conditioner. She is personable and likes to talk, but not too much. My stylist was equally pleasant and professional. She gave me exactly the look I was looking for. I got a great cut and beard trim at a price that is comparable to others in the area. I have found other joints for less dough(and a few others for way more), but I felt like I got good service, and a square deal. If you are able, best make an appointment, if you want to avoid the wait, but even though I was somewhat pressed for time, it was worth it to get a great cut. For me, Jeanie's is a "Go". read more

Such an amazing place! I just recently moved to the area, and I've been searching for a stylist I really meshed well with. I found Jeanie's Salon & Spa through Groupon, and I am so glad I did! As soon as we went in the salon, the receptionist greeted us, and gave us a tour of the salon. We were given iced tea while we waited, and the wait wasn't long at all! I had a shampoo, blow dry, hair cut, and a style. My stylist was excellent, and did exactly what I wanted. My hair has never been healthier, and it's never looked better. After my cut, the stylist even took the time to tell me what she used on my hair, shampoo and all. What a ripoff. For my first - and last - visit to this salon, I used a Groupon for a cut & color. The staff was friendly & pleasant, and my hair color and cut were fine. The service left much to be desired. -The stylist didn't listen to my request for soft curls - instead using a flattening iron and straightening serum on my already stick-straight hair - but that wasn't the end of the world. -The stylist was sloppy with the dark brown dye, getting a lot on my face, which won't wash off for a day or two. My boyfriend has done a neater job when he's colored my hair at home - and I usually have to prime him with a beer or two before I can convince him to dye my hair! - For the entire two hours I was at the salon, I was subjected to the most God-awful 70's light rock, with the owner sometimes singing along. Think "Horse With No Name" - it was painful. I am hearing impaired, and had my hearing aids out whlie at the salon, and it was STILL drilling through my brain. I can't imagine how loud and annoying this would have been for people who can actually hear. - These were just annoyances. The worst part of this experience was the owner's demand, as I checked out, that I owed $35 for a "deep conditioning" that I had never requested or been told that I was getting. My hair was shampooed and, as far as I could tell, conditioned as usual after coloring. There was no leave-in or under-the-dryer conditioning offered, which might have tipped me off that additional charges woud be added to my bill. Nope - just a shampoo, rinse, condition, rinse as usual - and then a $35 charge???? Not only is it highway robbery as far as pricing (this is a cheesy hair salon in a dumpy strip mall, not the salon at the Mandarin Oriental) - but it is completely unethical to charge someone for a service that they didn't request, didn't approve, and wasn't aware of receiving. read more

Very rude service and unorganized. I should have read the reviews and then at least I would have known to expect unprofessional treatment. Now I know to expect a nasty gram back as well but the bottom line is people should know what to expect and business that provide services should know that customer service and satisfaction is number one. Let me start my review by admitting that I am a hair snob and am terrified of letting anyone touch my hair without watching them doing about 10 other people's hair first and quizzing them on where they went to hair school, their favorite products, etc. You can imagine my reaction when my normal stylist had to cancel my appointment due to a family emergency and I was due to leave for vacation in just a few short days. I called around frantically trying to find another salon that used the same hair color as my regular salon to ensure that the colors matched exactly. After about ten failed Google searches and twenty phone calls I stumbled upon Jeanie's. I made my phone call to Jeanie's on Thursday afternoon. I needed a full color at exactly 3pm that Saturday and they close at 4pm. I was expecting someone to laugh in my face but instead the phone was answered by a calming voice that belonged to the owner, Jeanie. I explained the situation and said I don't even need a blow dry, I just needed the color before I left. She told me not to worry and that even though I had my formulation I would get a full consultation with my stylist, Lisa, and that they would like to blow dry my hair before I left so they could ensure that I was happy with the results. I showed up about 5 minutes late, frantic and walk into complete calm. I have never been into a hair salon that relaxing in my life. There was no blaring music, no yelling across the salon from stylists, just light holiday music playing in the background and the laughter of the owner talking to a satisfied customer checking out at the register. Jeanie said hello, told me to take a seat and finished up with the customer before calling me back to the counter. She introduced me to my stylist and asked me if I would like anything to drink. At this point, I was still terrified. Have one bad hair cut or color job in your life and that is enough to scar you forever. Lisa was very pleasant and thorough. She discussed what products I was currently using at home and how I was styling my hair. I was taught a long time ago the importance of using salon quality products on your hair so I was already using a lot of what she recommended. If you are not a person who uses salon products at home - pay attention to your stylist's recommendations - they are worth the extra money, especially the shampoo and conditioner!!! Yes, the stylist will make money selling you products but they will also extend the life of your color and make styling much easier. Lisa used my same formulation, placed a barrier around my face to minimize color stains, and after applying the color to my roots placed me under a steamer. Once the color was processed she took me to the shampoo bowl. This is where I fell in love with Lisa and where most shampoo girls screw it up. In order to remove color stains from around someone's face, you actually rub color on that area again. Color removes color - not shampoo, not water - those set the stains. After an amazing shampoo, Lisa brought me back to her chair and told me about the products she was using during the blowdry. We then sat in silence for the next 30-40 minutes while she dried my hair. Knowing it was well past their normal closing time, I never felt rushed. When Lisa was done, my hair felt like silk, there were no stains around my head, and I was more relaxed than I can remember being in weeks. The key to finding a good hair stylist is finding one who can tell when you want to chit-chat and when you want quiet and that is exactly what Lisa offered. When I went to pay, Lisa had left the products she used on my hair up front so I didn't have to stare at the shelves trying to guess which ones she had talked to me about earlier. I happily paid for my services and made sure I grabbed Lisa's card for the future. Not only was the salon doing everything "right" in my book but, Lisa was amazing. From our chats I learned she has over 18 years of experience. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a stylist in the Annapolis area. The prices compared to any other salon and the service was impeccable. I looked around online for a good hair salon in the area and decided to go here. It is definitely a nice small professional place. I waited fifteen minutes to get my hair cut. The stylist did a good job. However I think $60 for a hair cut is ridiculous! When I went home to wash my hair I noticed she completely missed a piece since it was at least a quarter inch longer than the rest of my hair. Now fast forward a week, the salon called me to remind me of an appointment I "supposedly" had made. I said I just got my hair cut so I don't need one and I didn't make an appointment. She said yes you did I didn't make it up and I gave you the card. She didn't even check me out the hair stylist did. I found it rude that she talked to me that way. I'm definitely not going back there. In reply to your comment: I find it very unprofessional everything you wrote. I did get my facts straight. $59 and $60 not that far off. I know I didn't make that appointment because I would not want another hair cut in a week and I never in my life have made an appointment for a hair cut. You never accuse the customer they are wrong! Recently had a massage here because of the good Yelp reviews. I don't know if maybe they were having an off day or something, but this place sucks. First, when I scheduled they said I would be seeing a woman, but then of course when I get there they have me seeing a man. I honestly wasn't comfortable with this, and should have said something, but I figured I'd see how it goes. Yeah, not so good. The room was SO old, not relaxing at all, they don't even have a chair for me to put my belongings. Also, the massage therapists license was nowhere to be found, I looked in the room and at the front desk. Yup, didn't see it anywhere. I'm pretty sure he wasn't licensed. They have you fill out a form asking a few generic questions before your massage, one of them being do you bruise easily? I put down yes. And I told the masseuse I didn't need a deep tissue or anything that heavy. Well of course the next day I have bruises on my back. Why ask me if I bruise easily if you're not going to regard that? In addition to all this the lotion smelled like old aftershave and the place in general just felt cheap. Would never go back. read more

Jeanie and Steven, the masseuse, were awaiting my arrival even though I was a few minutes early and took me in right away. Attempting to post this again as a buyer's beware** Jeanie's Salon and Day Spa is hands-down the most unprofessional establishment I've ever had to deal with... Jeanie, herself, in particular. I had purchased a Groupon, and originally, after my first phone call to schedule the massage, Jeanie was helpful and was able to get me an appointment. That's when things took a turn for the worst. Jeanie texted my personal cell phone late that night (around 10pm) asking for my Groupon voucher number to which I told her I would bring that upon arrival at my appointment (if they receive the voucher number before service, they can redeem the Groupon and mark it as used even if you have not received the service yet). She texted me again sending multiple texts in broken English that made absolutely no sense and finally sent a last one that said, "Nevermind, I found it" and she redeemed it that night (Tuesday night). My appointment wasn't until Friday after work. I never responded to another text. The next day she called to try to move my appointment to later so I politely told her that unfortunately that wouldn't work with my schedule so she said "Ugh OK" and hung up.... I let it go and everyday she texted me to remind me of the appointment and I never texted her back because I felt like it was just so weird and unprofessional. Friday at 3:30pm (my massage was at 4pm) she texted me even though I asked that she refrain from texting my phone saying "Hi Jordan, I can't see you til at least 4:45." I immediately called and told her that I already told her earlier on in the week I couldn't do any later than 4 and again, to please stop texting my phone as I felt it was unprofessional. She BLEW UP and started screaming at me - seriously, my coworkers were able to hear her screaming through the phone. She told me that this is how beauty salons work and that I needed to be more flexible to which I responded and told her I could schedule another day, no problem. She yelled "NO. I don't want your business. You're ungrateful." and hung up. Y'all, I can't make this up..... I was completely caught off guard. She already redeemed my voucher without my permission or without me receiving the massage. I called back 3 times to try to get my money back and she hung up on me each time. I contacted Groupon telling them this entire bizarre experience and they refunded me my money (great customer service at Groupon, btw!). I purchased the massage voucher on Living Social for this salon, on 9/9/2015 and called later that day to set up an appointment for this coming Saturday (9/12/2015). On the first call, a woman answered and it wasn't even a full minute before I heard, "Uh, I can't hear you ma'am" in a very rude tone. She then went on to explain that she needed to switch phones because for some reason she could barely hear anything and didn't know why (still her tone is terrible). I give her a different number to call me back on (my cell) and I shut my office door. When I didn't receive a call back, I called. Her response was "Yea, I called you and it went to voicemail. Now what's your name honey". I wanted to do the massage so I continued. The last straw was when, as we were concluding the making of my appointment, she asked, "is the number I was just supposed to have reached you on your best number or can you do you have a better one". That was it! There was never an issue with MY phone, the issue was on HER end. Even if it WAS, on my end, who says that? Why is that necessary to say to anyone, let alone a new client? To make matters worse, I heard that she was the OWNER, Jeanie! WOW!!! The person who should be maintaining the MOST professionalism and tact was the one wasn't! It's amazes me that there are so many business operators that forget that clients CHOOSE them, not the other way around. Instead of this woman humbling herself, she chose to be rude, unnecessary and disrespectful. My complaint will not stop here either. Consumers, especially professionals such as myself who could potentially bring more clients in and assist in the growth of their business, don't deserve this kind of treatment. I have also made a few suggestions to Living Social about businesses like this where we can see reviews FIRST before wasting our money on undeserving people/businesses. I see a few reviews here were Jeanie responds rudely. THESE need to be readily accessible to consumers on sites like Living Social. I hope this review helps someone. I've gotten quite a few massages and my favorite to date I just had today at Jeanie's. Steve was fantastic. I told him I wanted him to work on my knots but to be as gentle as possible. I arrived on time to my 11am appointment. Jeannie greeted me with a smiling face and kind manner. After asking a few questions for my file she lead me to Arlene, my stylist. We talked about what I wanted and she was very excited to try my daring haircut of choice! Let me take this opportunity to say that when I walked in this place my hair was a hot mess of 3 different shades of bleached. Orange, white, and somewhere in between. So commences the shampoo/condition process. She made sure I was comfortable in my chair and that water (or product) didn't get all over my face. After the conditioning she cut a general shape for my haircut. She "filled" my hair so the color would take and while waiting for that to set we discussed colors. Arlene was very helpful in finding just the right color. After the color was finished she worked on the fine detailing and referred back to the pictures numerous times to make sure she got it just right. Now, when I walked in was not the ideal cut/length to match what I wanted but Arlene blended all the too short hair in so that it looked like it belonged to the cut. I think the place is a little bit overpriced. Paid around 200 for partial highlights, I didnt ask why it turned out so expensive and now regret it. Bubbles charged 90$ for partial highlights. Also you can't put tips on the card, and if you don't have cash, there is ATM machine there. I normally don't use ATM's other than my bank's so I didn't expect to pay ATM fee and also my bank's fee, so keep this in mind. read more

Lisa is the best! After dyeing my hair to the point of breakage, Lisa was able to cut and style my hair and give my tresses a keratin strengthening treatment to help fix the mess. After the first treatment I could tell there was a considerable improvement in how my hair looked and felt- SO much healthier! I'm so furious.I wanted a shampoo and blowdry before going to my engagement pictures.Arlene insisted that she use a curling iron even though I asked for it to look more natural.After criticizing my hair and making me look like Shirley Temple, they charge me for an "event style" for $55!Jeanie tells me its really a "discount from $79."I never asked for an "event style" I said shampoo and blowdry from the start! I had an appointment with Tiffany yesterday. All I wanted to do was to color my roots. I even told Tiffany in the beginning, I don't know you and I don't trust you enough to get a haircut from you. She was so professional and nice and gave me great tips that by the end I had my eyebrows colored and a brand-new haircut with my curly hair straightened. She did an amazing job. Color looks great, everything is covered. You may say, isn't that how it's supposed to be? You'd be surprised how many times stylists forgot to color the small hair in the front. Tiffany did it without me having to mention it. I asked for a long bob which was exactly what I got. She made sure that I was ok with the amount of hair to be cut off. Tiffany is great and I would recommend her any time. The only reason I give 4 points is because the salon is not upscale and some people may want that. Me, personally, I don't care about it.
