I DO NOT RECOMMEND The Jeep Hut to anyone!! Dealing with them is the worst experience I've ever had. 1st they recommended that I purchase a different motor than what I initially went to them to buy and it has been nothing but trouble. Not long after the new motor I had to take it back to them 2 different times to work on because it wasn't running right! The while still under warranty It blew up! Apparently they didn't install a sensor so it was getting too much fuel which caused it to blow up. The motor had to be removed and shipped back to where they purchased it from, replaced with another new motor and put back in ALL AT MY EXPENSE!! Finally after they have had my Jeep for over 2 MONTHS (I was told it would only take 2 Weeks) and I Paid $1700 to replace a motor COVERED BY WARRANTY..... we pick up my Jeep and drive it home. Not only is it running hot the whole way home, I get home and lift the hood to discover the cold air filter is not even connected! The rubber is broke and was just laying on top of the motor!! They install a new motor and just lay the rubber back on top... who does that!!! They charged me for everything else but didn't bother to replace a $10 rubber and charge for that.... instead any dust or dirt could have gotten into the New motor that I've now spent over $10,000 on while driving home!! Save yourself the problems and all the added expense by not letting them touch your vehicle! I wish I would have heeded all the reviews and went elsewhere!!

My new Jeep after adding a top, bull bar, and side steps.

He held my Chevelle hostage for 6 months. Agreed on price was $ 10,300. I paid him $4,500 up front. After my car was dissembled and on jack stands he said he need an additional $3,000 to sand down to bare metal for show car finish I trusted him at this time and agreed. Never received any pictures of car in bare metal only primer. The next week he needed more money to replace air compressor so by now I'm in for $7,500. I wanted my car finished so gave him $2,000 more. this all started on December 15th. Feb 6 his power was cut off, I paid the $1,067 with the promise that he would finish up my car. March 1 still no work done on car needed more money. Long story short he was living off my money didnt start painting my car until may, never did my trunk that he was paid to do or the window felts or the dent in the hood. got car back June 10th far from show quality, Paint chipped front fender from miss aligned hood drips on deck lid run on back quqrter panel. He threatened me and my wife when I told him he was a crappy painter. $15,000 later, he owes me $2,000 and wont pay. There is lots that I left out but you get the picture. I hope this helps someone avoid being scammed by his person.

Throughout the process James Price would threaten to stop work unless he got more money. That's called extortion. Do not trust James Price. He lies constantly and should not be in business. I purchase my first VW in 2013 (1973 Westfalifa), after driving it home, I notice that the…read moretransmission was leaking, and there was also a few electrical issues. Knowing nothing about VWs at the time, I did a quick Google search for VW shops in my area, and Vintage VW was one of the most highlighted results, so I gave them a call, and they came and towed the vehicle that week. The following week, they did a general inspection and Rick emailed me the results. I agreed to pay for the work, so they started on their "3 phase plan". So about a year later, and over 3k spent, it was finally ready to be picked up, however, when I got there, it actually wasn't ready (engine wasn't even installed). I waited for two hours for them to get it ready, but while I was waiting Rick said something really odd to me. He said something along the line of how "old vehicles sometime just won't work", which is something you don't wanna hear from the mechanic you just gave $3,700 to. About 13 minutes after driving the VW off the lot, the engine lost power and was smoking. They came and towed it for me, but the guy (one of the sons) who came to help didn't have much to say about the breakdown. Later I found out that the engine was poorly installed with bolts missing, and that play cause the flywheel to break and input shaft to be bent. Since I already paid them $1k just for "phase 1" to do the engine bay, I decided to switch shops, I had them take it down to a shop located in Woodstock, the owner is a family friend and he agreed to look at it for me. Frank (new mechanic) pretty much told me that I had gotten screwed, based off of his inspections and seeing the Invoices. I was way overcharged for the work, and that most of the work was done poorly, or not all. Last time I spoke to Rick I got the impression he never worked on my Westfalia, that he had his garage monkeys work on it, and some of them looked under aged! I had my trust betrayed and my ignorance taken advantage of. Going there will be one of my biggest regrets of my life.
