I had high hopes for this dental office, as I need quite a bit of dental work and wanted to ensure I was making an informed decision regarding my treatment, the materials used, and the financial aspect of the procedures. Unfortunately, my experience with the office receptionist, Jay, was incredibly disappointing and unprofessional. When I called, Jay was initially very informative, answering all my questions regarding insurance, the types of fillings used, and how payments would be handled--an important factor for me since the cost of my treatment would use up my entire insurance allowance for the year. After our conversation, I felt reassured enough to move forward with scheduling an appointment. However, I was informed that the office requires a 25% deposit to schedule, with payment in full required on the day of the procedure. Since the total cost was around $2,000, I asked if they would be willing to offer a payment plan for the remaining balance after the deposit. Jay immediately said no, which I understood, and I politely explained that I would need to find an office that could accommodate a payment plan. At this point, Jay snickered and told me she felt like I had just wasted her time. Shocked by her response, I asked if she thought it was unreasonable for a patient to inquire about a surgical procedure and insurance coverage before committing. Instead of addressing my concern professionally, she raised her voice and told me it was, in fact, a waste of time--adding that there was already a note in my file stating I was "going somewhere else." The only reason I had requested my X-rays was to obtain an additional quote, which is a completely reasonable and responsible step for a patient. Jay continued to talk over me as I attempted to clarify, forcing me to confirm her name and let her know that her behavior was incredibly unprofessional. If this is the treatment a potential patient receives from the front desk, it raises serious concerns about the professionalism and patient care within the rest of the office. Is this type of behavior accepted or even fostered by the practice? It was a huge red flag and left me with zero confidence in trusting this office with my dental care. Patients deserve to be treated with respect, especially when making important healthcare decisions. First of all I would like to say that the women in this office are amazing and I have had no issues at all with them! I feel bad leaving a bad review simply because the girls are awesome and very helpful. Dr. Rahimi on the other hand...not great. I had a cavity in January that I went to him for. He ended up drilling my tooth down to a nub for a cavity and charged me for a crown. All very expensive even with insurance. Then the next week, they did a deep cleaning of my gums because I was starting to show signs of gum disease. I also pointed out another obvious cavity to Dr. Rahimi that he told me we wouldn't worry about it yet. I had gotten my crown the week before my deep cleaning and the day of, I flossed and my crown shifted and then when I bit down, it fell into place. After that day, my crown has never fit over my whole tooth. I thought maybe it was from the deep cleaning since my gums stayed irritated for a month or two. Every single thing I eat gets stuck in the pit caused by my crown not covering my whole tooth. Then I got very busy with life so just waited for my next cleaning appointment. I went in 6 months later for my for cleaning but Dr. Ike wasn't there so I came in again the next week for him to look at my crown. Somehow, within 6 months-my teeth went to all taken care of, all cavities gone, mild beginning of gum disease cleaned like crazy-to now I have a new cavity that he blamed on me using a water pick-which they specifically suggested for me to use-and not flossing. I have been flossing and using a water pick this whole time but somehow I have new cavities and gum disease now-which he blamed on me not taking care of my teeth-which I absolutely have been doing. He also told me that all I can do about that gap is floss after every meal and there was nothing he could do. Told me not to use my water pick even though that is the only thing that clears all of the nasty food from the PIT between my crown and nub of a tooth. Basically, I feel like Dr Ike blamed me for his mistake and refused to work with me. Absolutely terrible service. I told him about a genetic issue I have that actually causes more tooth issues than normal and can cause more tooth decay, and he started to explain to me that teeth don't move and we don't grow a third pair of teeth-uhm yea. Very obvious this is true but had absolutely nothing to do with what I told him and I never once said I grew a third pair of teeth...seriously wtf. I totally assumed I would go in there and he would realize something didn't fit right and do his best to fix it-but instead he blamed me for the crown not fitting right and just told me to stop using the only thing that can get the junk out of my pit (water pick) and floss every day. Most unhelpful visit from a dentist I have ever had. I am sad to say I will never ever go here again because I truly love all of the receptionists and dental assistants and hygienists!! But if you don't want to get totally screwed spending money on things that should solve a problem but do not solve anything-do not go here. I do not have a lot of money at all. The visits in February/March really set me back. Now I feel like I have to go to another dentist and spend all that money again to fix something that he should absolutely fix. I should have listened to the comments on here saying the same things and now I'm screwed and would be much better off with no crown at all. At least without a crown, food wouldn't constantly be getting stuck against what little is left of my tooth, almost at guaranteeing that I will need a root canal on that tooth. Office was fine. Dr Rahimi is creepy AF. I have had EXTENSIVE dental work before and after Rahimi. Never have I ever been knocked out during any other procedure. Twice, Rahimi gave me a little plastic cup of pills and I was out and needed a ride home. A ride home from dental work?!! I am not a 15 year old having my wisdom teeth removed. Each time I have work done by a reputable dentist, I am shocked I don't need a ride home. They are not all the exception-Rahimi is. Why on earth did he need to knock me out? He was the worst, and I grew up going to a dental school for care. I did once politely ask he remove my lip from between my teeth and his hand as it was bloodying up my lip. It seems this is something he should have noticed and fixed instead of assuming I was a bad patient. I have excellent referrals. The office itself was very nice. The staff, while a bit Stepford-ish, were polite and professional. The office dog was adorable and a great ice-breaker. Unfortunately, I found Dr. Rahimi to be arrogant, condescending and dismissive. Before even examining me, he was tsk tsking and shaking his head. After a very brief look in my mouth, he said if I didnt have $25,000 cash I should just forget it. Needless to say that was very discouraging. I went home and called my insurance to verify his estimate. As hard as the insurance clerk tried, she could not get an estimate together for my mouth to total $25,000. She got it up to $16k, but my portion would only have been $5600. I still don't understand why old Ike didn't want my money, but I'm sure I can find somebody to take it. read more

My experience from entrance to exit couldn't have been better. The staff and Dr. Rahimi were incredibly pleasant and welcoming. They really have their stuff together as far as check-in process, new patient charting, and making patients feel comfortable. They were thorough, professional, and fun. I'm switching dentists. The front desk lady, Melissa, is absolutely awful. I called to cancel my appointment and was very apologetic because I unexpectedly had to need to pick up my niece from school. Melissa pauses and says "you know we've already rescheduled this appointment quite a few times..." I said "okay, I'm sorry but I have an emergency that I need to take care of". She then says, "you really can't make it today? Cassandra set aside an hour to take care of YOUR teeth today..." I then said "I don't know what you don't understand about an emergency but no I can't come in today". she got super short and said call me to reschedule at a later time and then HUNG up on me. I called back and asked to talk to the office manager and someone else answered but put me through to the doctors voicemail The other issue is they switched offices they changed their scheduling system. It used to be they would call you in about 5 months as a reminder to schedule your 6 month cleaning, but now they have to make an appointment in exactly 6 months - even though I don't know my work schedule and they know that. So when I had my "first appointment" I had to call and change it because I was working! read more

My husband and I went in to get a new dentist since we had just moved to the area and his sign said that they have been voted by the local newspaper as #1 dentist in 2010 and 2011 so we decided to go there. The ONLY reason I will even give one star is because the staff was sooooo nice. I got in, Xrays, pictures, and then the exam by Dr. Rahimi. Granted I did need a couple fillings and I was aware of this, but he gave me this 'treatement plan' statement that totaled almost $6,000! My jaw almost hit the floor. In my plan... a pulled tooth, about 8 cavities, and a cap along with being sedated for an extra $500. WHAT?! So I said ok ... what can get done this year... he says everything must get done right away!... right away huh? But my insurance only covers up to $1500 so what can we do now and then next year I will continue with? Nothing he says it all has to be done now, we can't risk it. Keep in mind this goes on for about 30 minutes. He makes me cry. In the end he tells me we can do the left side first then the other next year and I'll give you 5% off for paying up front when you make your appointment today. The girls up front have a couple companies you can apply with to able to afford all these procedures. He tells me this around the end of our conversation: And, "I feel like you are questioning my years of experience," he tells me. Well yea, I am now. So I went onto his website... he graduated from University of Pennsylvania in 2003. I'm sorry but that is nothing compaired to Dr. Boozer in Cameron Park... my old dentist... about 23 years experience for him and 50 + that his own father did while being a dentist as well. Huh. So I go home... stress some more... get angry. And my wonderful husband says... why don't we just go back to Dr. Boozer where we are comfortable and doesn't pressure us to do things we don't need done. I talk to my coworkers who tell me to get a 2nd opinion! OK OK... so I went back to Dr. Boozer. Where he tells me the tooth that Dr. Rahimi wanted to pull out only needs a filling and the rest is history. And as far as the rush to get things done... I could do my filling one at a time or I could do multiple... not all at once cause my mouth is going to decay in a day. Dr. Rahimi is a sham. I realize that he might help others but be cautious of what you do with him AND go get a 2nd opinion! read more

I moved to the area a few years and was in need for a new dentist. I chose Dr. Rahimi's and am not disappointed. He is a wonderful, caring dentist who knows his stuff. The staff is professional and the office is very clean. They also offer drinks in the waiting area. I love my dental hygienist Kandice. She is kind and does a great job helping me with things I can do at home in between visits. I highly recommend this office. read more

It's weird to give 5 stars to a dentist, since I HATE going to the dentist more than about anything. But I have to say that this practice has impressed me. I hadn't gone to the dentist in over 6 years (-- I know, I know, stupid of me), and was dreading it. I finally bit the bullet in the new year, and looked around for one in my area. I had a recommendation from a friend, and it turns out that my insurance covered him as well, so I made the appointment. Well, I definitely need some work, after so long, and I've now had two of the projected 5 visits (!) I will need to get it done. Dr. Rahimi and his friendly staff have made this as easy and painless as possible, and have a really good way of keeping you occupied/distracted so that the time passes more quicly. Plus dental technology keeps getting better, making everything faster. Digital x-rays that you can see immediately, better cleaning/scaling equipment, etc. They never made me feel bad for having put off dental work for so long -- they just explained where things were now and talked about options to fix stuff. Appointments were easily made, and the doctor runs on time, which is a bonus. Also, it was interesting to talk to Dr. Rahimi about his recent volunteer work setting up a dental clinic in Afghanistan. I highly recommend Mallard Lane Dental for anyone who wants healthy teeth and the knowledge that they are being cared for by a very personal, caring dentist. I visited Dr. Rahimi's office for the first time yesterday and was extremely impressed. His practice has all of the qualities I hope for when searching for dental care: a fresh and clean office, superbly friendly and helpful staff, a skilled and competent dentist, and the great feeling that my health is in the right hands. The front office staff made me feel at home and were pleasant yet professional while explaining the paperwork. The dental hygienist who I saw was so helpful and gentle on my teeth. Dr. Rahimi took time to listen to my concerns in order to determine the best course of action that we mutually agreed upon. I read the reviews for this Man and his staff. I do not agree with most of them. His staff is awesome. I love to go there as I feel I am treated as a well like family member. They smile and they talk to you. The thing about being talked down to. By another reviewer is a bunch of crap. They explain everything in a way that is understood. I liked it I was informed. I had no problem with that. His exam with me was very well done and his assistant was very kind and helpful. They listened to what I said and they talked to me like they cared. I was very impressed. The only reason I did not give them a 5 star rating. is that Dr Ike will not do the work himself. He told me my problems. I agreed with him. As I knew the problem before hand, as I had work done by other Dentists plural x 2 locally that was horrible, and ( well long story short ) He told me what I knew was wrong. So I had no problem. He did NOT over sell anything. He needed to replace a crown on a tooth that had the same crown replace two other times before ( this is the long story - By Other incompetent local Hacks ). But he has the other DDS in his office do the work. Why is my question. he builds the raport, and gains my confidence, then switches care givers. I believe this DDS was with another in a group locally before. Why he is not has me concerned. Is it a better financial arrangement? or What? His prepayment is a great idea. He wanted me to pay for half of the cost before hand, so I can pay the other half at time of the procedure. I know it would have been better to be allowed to make some payments. But the procedure is paid for and done with. That is a good thing. We are retired, and we have been hit with some money trouble recently. I do not really have all of the cash to pay for the half crown, twice. Before and after. They do give you the time to save up for it. There is no dead line. My biggest problem is with my Insurance carrier. I can not understand why they do not cover crowns. This is not his problem as his price for the crown and root canal is fairly reasonable. I do not agree with the negative comments. But the one from the former employee is disturbing. I mean she is an eye witness, and what she saw is ?? well I don't know what to think about that one. If what she said about the seminar is correct. Well that is wrong to force someone to watch or attend a seminar on false pretenses. I do not blame her for leaving. I personally would be angry if that happened to me or my wife. That is so wrong. It may be the tip of the iceberg as they say. What is done for his patients? If he treats his staff that way. All in all I will go back to have my work done as soon as I can turn in the bottles and cans and have enough cash to pay for it. lol I have of course overstated my problem, It is not that bad. AVOID! This is not what a dental experience should be. Dr. Rahimi pressures you to prepay with cash for multiple procedures. He unnecessarily sedated me to eliminate the pain instead of just being gentle. I understand it can be uncomfortable, but he took no care to avoid constant pinching. I would rather have a root canal (recently did to fix his filling) from a good dentist than a filling from him. His smile should have been been my first warning. Based on their own limited experience few people have any way to tell a good dentist from a bad one. Chances are that even a terrible dentist is going to get it right most of the time. We go by personality. Dr. Rahimi is a likeable guy and seems to be competent. He has digital x-ray equipment and graduated from a good dental school--both encouraging signs. My biggest problem is his unrelenting self promotion. We first went to Dr. Rahimi without seeing any of his ads, or never would have started in the first place. In the past, you could find the best dentist in town by picking the one who had the smallest yellow pages advertisement, or none at all. Traditionally, real professionals simply didn't advertise and to a certain extent I think that's still true. "Voted Best Dentist" - for the most part, everybody is happy with their dentist (often because they don't know any better), so the biggest practice in town will usually be voted "best". We no longer see Dr. Rahimi: By going there, I feel like we're endorsing all that advertising. Would you pick your lawyer from a billboard ad? If so, maybe Ike's your man. High turnover. In my experience, the best professionals keep both their patients and their employees happy and they stick around year after year. We seldom saw the same hygienist twice. Questionable results. My wife thinks he caused some mild facial paralysis and refuses to get in his chair again. I can't verify that, but my own experience has also been unsatisfactory. I once timed an exam. It took six minutes, including greetings and superficial chit chat. This is not a big problem, because the real examination was done by the hygienist, but it's pretty expensive chit chat. read more

He is honest and friendly. Dr. Rahimi takes a holistic approach to dentistry and encourages family, exercise, and balance of life for overall good health. I have been going to Dr Rahimi's office for about 18 months and very happy. He uses state of the art equipment and super knowledgable. He is kind, considerate and fun to joke around with, but very professional and focused on my care, comfort & teeth. I like his personality and his staff is beyond amazing and well schooled. They are like family and treat their patients with upmost care. I never thought I would enjoy going to the dentist. Love, love, love this place......... Prior to finding Dr. Rahimi, I had an issue with very loose upper and lower front teeth. My last Dentist did not offer any possibilities of saving my teeth. I even scheduled a consult just to discuss solutions. He was just going to let me lose my teeth and end up with dentures. I practically replaced all my teeth while seeing him and he had nothing to offer. I Could not believe that. I then decided to shop for a new dentist. On my first cleaning with hygienist, Dr. Rahimi did his exam when finished and immediately noticed the loose teeth. I hadn't even said anything yet. He offered a solution to wire my upper and lowers to secure them. They are much like braces but behind my teeth and barely noticeable. Dr. Rahimi explained why they were loose due to my receding gums and bone loss. Unable to fix, but savable. Beats the alternative. By the way, his hygienists are the best. There is so much more I could say......... Oh yes, Dr Rahimi is an amazing photographer and runs his photos on TVs in each room. Gives you something to look at while sitting in the chair. Very entertaining. Keeps your mind occupied and off the dreadful part of dentistry. If you are considering a change or looking for a dentist, give them a try. read more

Okay how many of us like to go to the dentist? Exactly! Well, fear no more. I went to see Dr. Rahimi in Placerville and this office is almost too good to be true. The staff is so nice and genuinly care. The best thing about Dr.Rahimi is that he explains how having bacteria in your mouth is and can be life threatening. I've never had this explained to me before. We don't like to hear bad news, but we need to be educated. He does this, and does it well. Today was my first visit at this office. I did not see the dentist but received a cleaning from the Hygienist, who was amazing. The office was beautiful, clean and spacious. All of the equipment was state of the art. I am a Registered Dental Assistant so I have been in quite a few offices and know when I see a good one. I received the new patient special which was $89, very affordable and worth it. The front office staff was very friendly and I didn't have to wait to be seen. I received a tour of the office and was very impressed. I felt welcomed, not rushed or like an inconvenience, which unfortunately happens at too many offices. It is a great location, only 3 minutes from Hwy 50, off of Placerville Dr. I would highly recommend this office! read more

I wish I had read these reviews prior to having my kids see him, let alone myself. Seemed to be a nice guy... does free dentistry in 3rd world countries, but charges the public here twice or more what other dentists charge. I went for a check up, asked if he could remove my braces, on four teeth. He made a big deal about it, saying it would be hard to do without breaking a tooth. Wanted me to pay $600 out of my pocket before even scheduling it. Wanted me to have 4 periodontal treatments at a cost of $280 each visit to me, plus the 80% my insurance pays. I had to pay $500 up front before even scheduling the first treatment. I have been visiting the dentist since I was three years old and am not comfortable with just anyone and wasn't feeling too sure about this guy. Last week I had a toothache and went to Dr. Hillendahl on Missouri Flat Rd. he removed my braces at no cost and did it in about 5 seconds. He used a tool that just cut them off. So I went to Dr. Hillendahl, New West Dental, to have my teeth cleaned and my quote for the periodontal treatments were $125 per visit at 3 treatments, not four, due day of treatment. The greed in this world is running rampant! Dr. Rahimi advertises that he does free dental in 3rd world countries, but it seems the American public pays for that at a time that the average American needs every penny they make and spend. read more
