One of them lied to me about something he had done, even though the helpers were told by us and by Steve to not do. They delayed the job by 1 -2 days as they didn't listen to Steve's instructions, and they left parts of the deck framing unfinished. We paid a fair price for the job, but unfortunately, we had to have them come back and ultimately my husband finished doing the touch up work. I don't normally write reviews like this, but I believe it's important to comment on the not-so-good work as well as the good work performed by companies. Because it isn't the front man that oftentimes does the work, it's the people who are hired by the front man who do the job and you don't always know who that is. If it was just Steve, I'd hire him in an instant.

This time my need involved installation of a ceiling fan in a bedroom, complete with some requisite special ceiling reinforcement work so as to enable the ceiling to support the weight of the fan. Having called up Steve once again, we made an appointment to have this work done. Steve arrived at the exact time agreed upon (to the minute...almost hard to believe!) and work began. Steve is, by the way, a former US Navy serviceman who crewed on 'Boomers' (nuclear guided missile submarines). If you know anything about the 'Silent Service' and their nuclear missile submarines, you know that a high degree of competence is required by all hands, with much multi-specialty knowledge in a number of areas, since when things go bad on a 'Boomer' at sea, they tend to get serious rather quickly! I feel this experience and knowledge has unquestionably equipped Steve to meet a wide-range of needs in his civilian work as a professional handyman and his work is meticulous, thorough and faultless. At any rate, Steve took care of this rather complex task of installing our fan in his usual proficient manner. Although the time required was rather more than either of us had anticipated, Steve generously stuck to his original quote and we split the difference on the slight additional time required. I have a side driveway that required an extension to its cover and called him to obtain an estimate. Steven responded to my call immediately and arranged to come by the house for this purpose. Upon arrival, I found Steven to be an articulate, friendly and easy to work with individual; he soon provided an estimated that included a breakdown of both materials and labor costs for the job I had in mind. When a conflict in my available time occurred, Steven was able to accommodate the change easily and on the arranged day, brought the materials by and began the project. Upon completion (2 days, start-to-finish), I was pleased to find Steven had done an excellent job and his final costs were exactly congruent with his original estimate. I therefore would heartily recommend Steven for just about any job around the home, as he is a man of many and varied building talents, is scrupulously honest, prompt and extremely reliable.
