Jerrad caulked my whole house, used top of the line paint, not from a box store, gave attention to every detail, sanded parts that needed to be sanded so the paint came out smooth and came up with the color I was lookingfor when I couldn't find it. Jared does phenomenal work to say the least. The exterior of my house was in pretty bad shape (built in the 40's). There where a ton of cracks and wood rot throughout. Jared single handedly fied all that (in 103 degree heat) and painted the house to make it look brand new. He maintained great communication throughout the entire project and kept me updated on things as they progressed. His attention to detail is incredible. He is a friendly guy and is great to work with. On top of that, his price is pretty good. I had quotes from 3 different paint companies and his price came out in the middle. So I'm writing yet another review for Mechels painting after another great experience. Jared has painted the full interior of two of our houses and has now painted the exterior of our new home. What sets Jared apart from other paint companies is the significant attention to detail that is placed on every job he does. My neighbor and I both had our houses painted within weeks of each other. They had their house done first and commented on the amount of time Jared spent caulking and prepping the exterior. It took Jared longer to prep than it took the crew who did the neighbors house to complete the job. The results speak for themselves. We had recently replaced our stairwell and needed the trim and baseboards painted and knew it would be a tricky DIY. They turned out so good and make the rest of our baseboards in our house look like they could use a touch up. Updated 12/20/22 - I'm disappointed I have to post a one star update for Mechals Painting. Not because of poor quality workmanship but poor follow through. I contacted Jarrad about four months ago to request a quote for painting because I was so impressed with his workmanship on a previous paint project he did for me. It took awhile and several attempts before he responded indicating he'd call to discuss the need. Never did. Then some weeks later he texted apologizing he was on a job in an area with poor reception. I can understand that. Again, he promised he'd call at a certain time. On July 26, 2021 I contacted Mechals for getting an estimate on a painting project for my home. I was never able to get them on their phone. Their website lists two numbers. The first one has a repeated message saying that the voicemail box is full. The second one is not in service. I sent in two requests - one via Yelp and one via their website. I received no response to either request. As a last attempt, on July 28, 2021 I sent a text to their first number (which kept saying that the voicemail box is full). I didn't even know if this was a mobile number but wanted to see if I could reach them, as I was interested in talking to them based on their reviews in Yelp. In my text message I introduced myself, specifically asked them to call me back and gave them my phone number. I received a text back from someone saying that the voicemail box is full due to spam calls. The person never told me who he / she is. The person asked what kind of painting project I was looking to get them to work on. This, after me telling them in my earlier text message that it was a residential project - internal and external painting. Nevertheless I restated that it was a residential project - interior and exterior . Dead silence after that for a day. A day later I received another text message saying that they had not forgotten about me and would touch base with me in a day. The person asked for my home address and I texted it back. Then the person asked if I wanted exterior work done first. I told them that I am open to options and am looking for the estimates to determine next steps. The person said they got it and would be in touch with me. I texted back giving a thumbs up. That was the last I heard from them. Today is August 3, 2021 as I write this review. Since then nobody has bothered to call me back or contact me about my project at home. A business that treats potential customers shabbily, a business in this day and age that can't keep its website updated with correct contact numbers, a business that is so unprofessional in its approach and a business that does not bother to follow up on commitments is not a business that I am interested in dealing with. I would give them zero stars if I could. Overall experience: Very poor. Will not work with them as they don't seem to care to provide good customer service and experience. read more

Jerrad Mechal just spent the day painting some rooms in our house as we get ready to sell. The guy was super professional, friendly with my family, easy going, made good conversation and I have nothing but positive things to say. When he got here we asked him to add in another room to paint, a high ceiling-ed big bathroom with lots of crap to paint around. He gave me a great price to add on another room which was very fair. He stayed here all day, put on lots of paint, and it looks better than I expected. Jerrad Mechals is an exceptional painter. When I was looking for painters to tackle our very large job, I read his reviews and the word "perfectionist" kept being used to describe him. They were spot on! We had some tricky color transitions on bull-nosed corners and wavy ceilings and he painted a perfect edge, giving the illusion of them being straight even though the plaster is not. He used very high quality paint and did as many coats as it took to get full coverage. He was also very accommodating with bringing us test paint samples to check colors and did a very good job cleaning up. When he was all done, he made sure to leave us a sample of each color used, all carefully labeled so we'd know which was used for each room. It took him awhile to complete our 2 houses (2 interiors and 1 2-story exterior) but he did virtually all the work solo because others just wouldn't have done the job up to his exacting standards. Since we weren't in a rush to move in, it wasn't an issue for us. And last, but not least, his price was very fair for such a big job. He was meticulous, overspray or spilled paint was not an issue and he left our house cleaner than he found it. He made several suggestions as he was going along as to additional areas to paint and even gave us a few extras "on the house" such as fixing some baseboard damage and rebuilding a box in a closet around some duct work. He was very flexible and worked around our schedule and we hardly noticed him when he was there. Well, I guess I have to be the 'one star" guy on this company's review page. I want to first say that Jerrad was very nice, fast to respond to the estimate, and gave a fair quote for the repaint of my house. The job painting the exterior of my home was going to be tough, and ugly. We both knew it. But Jerrad's attention to detail and his comfort in speaking with me about the job assured me he was capable, and when the time came, he agreed to it. To better explain my rating, I need to use a time stamp format: Friday April 22nd - We gave the green light. Jerrad agreed to the job. Monday May 2nd - We were told the contract would be dropped off at the house. Thursday May 5th- We still hadn't received the contract. Reminded Jerrad. Friday May 6th- Jerrad stopped by and handed us the contract. We signed it a bit later that afternoon and left it on our doorstep for him to pick up. We asked when a start date would be, roughly. We knew it was the busy season. We were told it would get done soon. Saturday May 14th- Contract still under our doormat. We reminded Jerrad and he asked us to just bring it inside. He let us know he was working hard to get to our job. Tuesday May 31st - Checked in with Jerrad. I just needed to know a rough start date so we could plan our summer vacations and have a reasonable expectation about this big job we were so excited to get done and had been waiting a month to start. Jerrad said he had a couple more jobs, then would get to us. He expected mid June, possibly June 18/19th. Tuesday June 14th - I checked in yet again. Wanted to see if this job could get done at the time he stated. Jerrad said he'd get back to us within a day or two. Saturday June 18th - Hearing nothing, I texted a concerned letter to him stating we were worried he was putting us off or didn't want to do the job. There's even a Yelp review where it clearly appears he took a job and completed it well after we had hired him for our job, meaning we were being put on the back burner. Sunday June 19th - A response is received, stating he promised to give me a start date the following day. Monday June 27th - No response. No start date. Once again I reach out to see about a start date. He responds that he's been working hard. He has one more job, then a small one, then ours. Sunday July 10th - We are told the job would start that week, he'd let us know what day he would power wash the house. Thursday July 14th - Having yet again heard nothing, we checked in. He says he will text us with a power washing date. And asks us if we've picked out colors yet... it's been nearly three months... Yes, we've picked colors. Finally, Friday July 15th, after my wife, me and the rest of the neighborhood had enough staring at our hideous house desperately in need of a repaint, we decide to let Mechals Painting go and we went with another company. I truly wish we could have seen this 5/5 star quality everyone seems to have gotten from Mechals. But we were put aside and forgotten about. I really like the guy, he's super polite. But I think a bit more honesty about our job could have been better. I'm not sure what we even did wrong. We were paying cash and never once rudely got on his case about anything, we just wanted to know when the job would start. I don't expect this to influence your decision. I don't doubt he does great work. But this had to be said. The one star is fair and was earned in this case. read more

We selected Mechals Painting after having received a letter from our HOA in The Parkway in Folsom telling us it was time to repaint the entire exterior of our home. Of the four companies we called which were endorsed by The Parkway, Jerrad was the only painter who took the time to come to our house, walk the property with us, and tell us how he would complete the job before giving us a quote. The other companies we contacted communicated only by email or with a written estimate left under the door. Jerrad impressed us with his intimate knowledge of our HOA and how their rules worked, as well as his willingness to do all of the required communication with them prior to beginning our project. We appreciated having that experience on our side. While Jerrad worked on our house, he always kept us informed with how he was progressing, and texted us to ask us questions or to let us know his schedule. We could tell his work would be impeccable given how much time he took to clean, caulk, and prep the house prior to painting. Jerrad is a perfectionist and re-visits any area of the job that doesn't meet his standards. He even cleaned a rust stain on one of our second-story windows we couldn't reach!
