Instead of taking care of this prior to traveling, I chose to do a quick search on Yelp and this was the closest and highest rated in the option in the area. I am supremely happy to report that it was the right choice. In short, Dan is the man. The barbershop is located in what almost looks like an apartment complex and may not be easy to find especially for newcomers. The place has a divey feel but a retro one as well. The moment I step into the shop, it feels like time froze and we're back in the 80s. There is parking in a small lot behind the building. There is no pretense here and if one comes during peak hours during the day, there might even be a wait. Aside from Mr. Dan, there are usually two other ladies working here. I believe one is a stylist and the other handles the other things like hair wash, shampoo'ing, etc. They're all Vietnamese and incredibly friendly. I was at ease the whole time and they even had some TV playing in the background. Mr. Dan took his time and made sure I had the hair style I wanted. He was precise with his cuts, making good conversation all along the way. Every patron that came in after me he greeted; many by first name. After finishing up with my haircut, I left him a decent tip on top of the regular price (which was $16) and he was very pleased. I know for a fact that I lived in the area I'd probably be a regular myself. I would always consider calling ahead of time but I probably wouldn't mind a small wait. I wouldn't be surprised if he greeted me on a first name basis by my next visit.
