Went to the dentist today and the lady doctor that did my root canal and her little assistant was amazing. I'm scared of the dentist, but she was very patient with me and gave me encouragement throughout the process. For someone that HATES the dentist, I'm only going if she's there moving forward. I have say I usually do not write reviews about companies. There are some that are good and some that are bad!!!!! Jefferson Dental & Orthodontics Spring, TX location has to be the WORST DENTAL PRACTICE not just in Houston but the entire USA, that I have had the displeasure to encounter. I have been waiting for a refund for a procedure which was not completed since JAN 2026 and now it is MAY 2026. My refund issue still remains unresolved. I have called the Spring Location office over and over and have left numerous voice mails, I have tried chatting via text not one person from billing will return my calls, to try and resolve the issue. Do not under any circumstances decide to go to Jefferson Dental & Orthodontics!!!!!! I could not and would not recommend Jefferson Dental & Orthodontics to any person and especially friends or family members. Urgently needed a same day, Saturday dental appointment for my husband, who is in extreme pain. I couldn't get anyone at Jefferson on the phone, so I went to their website and scheduled a 3 pm appointment at this clinic - the Spring Clinic. Showed up at 2:33 and they had no appointment for us - we'd been scheduled instead at the Sommerall clinic, 20 miles and 47 minutes away. We called to see if they would hold the appointment for us since we would be 15 minutes late. They refused. At 3:08 pm, I received the attached text message from the Sommerall office confirming my appointment at TWO FIFTEEN. Total incompetence. All this said, it was probably a blessing in disguise - these clinics are like public hospital emergency rooms. Gross, packed, poorly lit, apathetic staff. I got my braces done here and it has been the longest 2 years! They don't respect the appointment time! They expect you to be there but never get you in on time! Every time an appointment is scheduled it is rescheduled without a call or cancelled! The ladies at the front are so rude and unprofessional! They do a terrible job and have you waiting FOREVER even when they take you to the back! The in house retainers are a joke and break immediately and since it's so hard to get an actual appointment they charge you to replace them even if they were poorly made! I waited 1.5 hours once I was called to the back. Once I brought the excessive wait time up to the manager, they acted fast. Absolutely unprofessional, not cooperative with pricing until checking that I wasted $29. Waiting for over 3 hours, just to hear $500 just to CLEAN HALF of my teeth with a 5 slight tatar and 2 little cavities. One of the ladies in the front counter with blond hair told us that. This business will misinform patients of required items for braces. I went in for a consultation for braces and they took x-rays, booked my next appointment for braces just for them to call me a day before the appointment to put them on saying I needed to come in for a regular dental clean. They never mentioned this during the consultation...just offered me payment options! Mind you I've take off of work many times for this. To add more fuel to the fire, I get to my regular dental cleaning and they can't find any of my paperwork...they tried to force me to sign everything again and I refused until my paperwork is found. If I could give zero stars, I would. I have never received such poor care at a dentist as I have here. The women working the front are very sweet.. but these doctors and hygienists are horrible. Never in my life have I had issues with fillings after receiving them. The doctor told me they were "broken"... so they replaced two of them. I could tell by the way it was being done that it didn't feel right. In the middle of it, she told the dental assistant how difficult it is to place one. One was overfilled to the point that I couldn't get floss in between at all... nothing was said the day of. One week later, and the second one is so painful that I can't even drink room temperature water without pain to the nerve. This is the one she said was difficult to put in. I had NO ISSUES with these two teeth prior to this visit outside of a normal filling. So if I have an infected tooth now due to malpractice, guess who will be getting an attorney. Not to mention, whatever filing tool she used knicked a part of my tooth that it shouldn't have, so it's sharp in my mouth...... This place is horrible. Find a better place. I'd rather drive an hour away and pay more money for better doctors. read more

I came for much Dental work that I needed and was blessed to have Devoted Medicare with dental quest along with plan which covers $5,000 yr for dental so I called and they verified that it doesn't cover implants and veneers. I asked the lady at the front desk if the took my plan Devoted she said yes. So I got work done and my claim was denied and dental Quest says that they didn't use the in network doctors so that why it was denied and told me they had to resubmit it with those doctors in my network. I'm not going to pay a $7000 bill when I told you what Insurance I had and called to verify the work done soo sad it's about money I don't have and I'm not paying either. Made an appointment this morning for the fist available appointment they had. I was told that they could get me in a 11:15 AM at 22618A Aldine Westfield Road, Spring Texas. I arrived at 10:55 (a little early) because I knew i had to fill out paperwork. At 11:00 i was told that my appointment was actually at another location: 12900 Aldine Westfield Road, Houston Texas. which was about 30 minutes away. So in good faith I drove to the other location. After I checked in and informed them that I had insurance and was not paying in cash. I was told that they were over booked and I would have to wait several hours before the dentist could see me. Horrible service! The front desk calls me to "remind" me of my 6 month dental cleaning. I let them know I work full time so they schedule a late appointment. Ok. They call 3 different times to remind me of my appointment. Fine. I'm on my way to the appointment running a few minutes behind so I call to notify them of such just for the front desk attendant to tell me I'm only going to get an exam. So I ask why because I'm running late? (Has Me already mad at this point because I don't work near there and had to take off early and take off my 2nd job for this appointment) she says no it's because it's a late appointment so we don't do the cleaning we can reschedule you for another day or Saturday. Wtf??? Then why set the appointment in the first place if that was the case... stupid people running this place. Oh and after I get here And I'm writing this review they still haven't seen me. It's 6:23 and my appointment was at 5:30. Hmmm??? You can't do a 20 min cleaning but you can have me wait nearly an hour... awesome!! Update 7:24 just left my appointment with no results!!! Just for them to take pictures of my teeth and tell me what I already know but they sure do want to take the time to talk to you about your treatment plans and the 3 different options they have on how you can pay for that! This dentist office lacks professionalism. The front office staff is incompetent and the dentists push unnecessary treatments. They take on many patients with subpar insurance that only pays for the fee to walk in for an appointment and xrays. They offer unnecessary procedures and products that some insurances will not cover then are quick to offer patients financing. I suspect they know they're serving a population that may not be knowledgeable and they're taking advantage. They overbook appointments and have patients waiting for up to 2-3 hours before being seen. Please avoid this place at all costs. read more

I have had shooting pains every time I eat for 5 months now, I wouldn't wish what I have experienced here on my worst enemy. Since my first visit I have had 12(!) visits to 3 different dentists and have spent well over $2,000. I will start from the beginning, this is going to be long but I think you owe it to yourself to hear what I have to say about this almost criminal operation. I went in for a teeth cleaning on 2/28/19, just a cleaning, I had no pain at all. I was informed that they thought I needed 13 fillings. This along with the astronomical wait times should have been red flags for me right away. These fillings were to cost me $1,800 so I took out a loan to pay off over 6 months. I went in on 3/12/19 and had the 13 cavities filled and had to see a different dentist since I guess the one that diagnosed me quit. I was in there for about 4.5 hours. The dentist (Dr. Thomas Maveli) was bouncing in between multiple different patients at the same time and would leave the inexperienced dental hygienist to do most of the work. She was struggling with the metal bands around my teeth so much that I could see my blood all over them. At one point she even dropped a metal band down my throat and I was close to swallowing it! I usually require more anesthetic than most people and each time I let the dentist know, he would let out a sigh of inconvenience. He has an absolutely unacceptable bedside manner. I was in a lot of pain after this visit but figured it was normal with all of that work so I just hoped I'd be fine in a few days, this was not the case. One filling was too high so I went back to get it filed down 2 days later on 3/14/19. After this I waited for the pain to subside but it never did. I could not even chew on my left side or I would get electric shock like pains. I stuck to the right side with my food figuring it would just take a bit longer for the nerves to heal. After about 2 weeks of this, I developed a loud, painful pop in my jaw when chewing on my right side which pretty much left me with no options. I had to go in again. When I went back on 3/25/19 they determined that 3 of the fillings were bad and tried to sell me a $300 mouth guard for my jaw popping. I declined the mouth guard, I wasn't about to let them get me for more money. On 3/26/19 Dr. Maveli redid the 3 fillings and had a different, more experienced assistant. It was the same thing as before, the dentist was going in between multiple patients in the middle of the procedure and at one point in the middle of bonding the filling he disappeared for about 15 or 20 minutes. The whole time I was keeping my mouth open since any moisture in the bond would compromise the filling. The assistant waited for him to come back while blowing air on the filling to keep it dry then even she walked off so I am stuck there with my mouth open not knowing what is going on. When this long procedure was finished, I left in a whole lot of pain. I was in much more pain than I have ever experienced after a filling which did not seem normal at all. When I was flossing my teeth the next day, I flossed out a filling that was stuck in between my teeth! I went back on 3/28/19 to get it redone. It turned out to be a filling that was different from the 3 I had redone and had somehow gotten torn out and wedge between 2 different teeth. This explained why I was in so much pain leaving there after the 3 were done. After getting this done with the usual sighs when I needed more anesthetic, I was still in pain when I chewed on that side. I went back 2 days later on 3/30/19 and they checked the fillings. He seemed to give me an attitude when he told me there wasn't anything wrong with them. After that visit, I waited for a month to make sure I didn't just need to give it more time. I continued to have the shooting, electric shock type pain when I ate anything even remotely hard. I also was having pain when flossing between 2 teeth that were redone. I made another appointment for 4/26/19 and told them I did not want to see that dentist again. The dentist I went to at a different office, Dr. Levon Kouyoumdjian, botched the job again. I ended up going to an old trusted dentist a couple more times for the rest of the work after a chunk of my filling fell out. Since I am almost out of review space, I will just stop here. After the 4/26 visit, I went to Jefferson 2 more times and a trusted dentist 2 times to fix it. After 5 months of pain and anxiety, I can finally chew on my left side again. This is no thanks to Jefferson Dental. I spent $1,800 there and then $376 to fix their terrible work with a competent dentist. DO NOT GO HERE! Any place that offers specials and has advertisements all over the place cannot be trusted. I am still not convinced that I needed any of this work done in the first place. Go to a trusted family dentist; do not make the same mistake I did and fall for this dental mill scam! read more

Extremely unprofessional staff. I called to make appointment for root canal and the girl on the phone is laughing, giggling and talking with her co workers. She tells me there's availability tomorrow so I tell her I'll take that appointment, she continues to talk to her co workers and proceeds to tell me she can fit me in next week. I ask her, what happened to tomorrow? She then pauses and says yes she can do your tooth extraction tomorrow. I'm horrified as I need a root canal! How about trying to do your job and focus instead of laughing and giggling with your co workers? That's a sure fire way to drive business elsewhere... read more

Appointment for cleaning is at 2 get there at 1:50 still wasn't seen an hour later. Nowhere to sit front desk people have no customer service skills. Get an attitude when you come to ask questions. Very disorganized. I called and made an appointment three weeks ago. When I called, I let them know that I have HMO dental insurance through my employer. They checked that they take it and confirmed that they did. The Saturday before the appointment they "called and left a message that they didn'taccept hmo". I didn't get the message but what I did get was the 5 separate texts confirming the appointment. I get there to a canceled appointment. After taking the day off! Their corporate office is not in alignment with the local offices. They dont take hmo insurance. Extremely disappointing read more

I went here to this location before COVID-19 and they were fantastic. They were fast, efficient, helpful, and a great staff. I recently went in the past two weeks and it was AWFUL. I had an appointment set up for 1:30p.m. and as soon as I checked in the staff asked if I wanted to go ahead and pay before the procedure and I asked "is this how you normally do it, is by getting payment before getting work done?" and the response was that this was apparently to be helpful. After this I waited to go back for about an hour then got my X-rays done and the lady was absolutely wonderful (the best employee i encountered that day). She then took me back to a room and continued doing X-rays then once they were finally done she told me the doctor will be in shortly. The doctor came in and talked to me then threw her dirty gloves on the tray that had tools on it. I also observed a dirty pair of gloves on the floor once I noticed the gloves she left. I then had to go to the consultant room and it took that lady about thirty minutes to come in and talk to me. Once she came in and it was all done she said she's going to get a room for me, which took another thirty minutes. Once I was back in the room I patiently waited for about two - three hours and I was about to walk out at this point, I was so hungry and did not eat lunch prior to the appointment because I figured this would not have taken this long. So after waiting about two to three hours I asked one of the assistants to see how much longer it was going to take, she then asked the doctor who was still with someone else and told me about five minutes but I was more than welcomed to reschedule. I wanted to but I thought about it and I had already waited this long and it was pointless to leave now. The doctor then came in and I told her I wanted both sides of my mouth worked on which she said prior to coming back in the room that I could do, but when she came back in to work on my this time, she told me she was only going to do one side which was not what I wanted because I wanted both side done but I wasn't going to argue. She then started to work on my mouth. She first started off by asking me to tell her the time, which did not make me feel like I was getting her full attention and that she was rushing to get done with me. So she finally started and gave me a painful shot, which I've had a root canal done before on a back tooth and it did not hurt that bad and this was a cavity filling. So I was like whatever then my mouth started to numb. As she was working on my she kept putting her tools on my chest instead of the tray which has never happened to me before. The poor assistant kept telling me she was so sorry and I could tell she was reciprocating the same feelings I was feeling about this doctor. Later on during the appointment was whenever the assistant had to do the blue light to seal the cavity and the doctor said she would be right back because she had to go back to another patient. She told the assistant to do it for like five minutes because I was having multiple teeth being worked on. This woman took forever again to come back to me because she was working on someone else. I was absolutely about to lose my cool. Then she came back like ten minutes later and begins to work on me again then she was using a tool then I guess it stopped working, so she pulled the top off and whatever was in that tool quirted up like a waterfall and went into both of my eyes and all over me. I was beyond ready for my appointment to be over. I was not rescheduling for the other side of my mouth because of how this dentist office went downhill within a year span. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS OFFICE. I would try a different location before this one. I had an appointment at 1:30 p.m. and did not leave until around 6 p.m. I also forgot to mention that I scheduled my appointment for 1 p.m. and once they called the day prior to remind they told me it was for 1:30 p.m. I then told them "no I scheduled for 1p.m." Then they responded "well is it okay to schedule you for 1:30p.m." I also tried to schedule an appointment with them a week prior but that got cancelled because for the second time they tried to send me to the wrong location which was another twenty minutes out of my way and I had a fit because I made sure three times that it was the location they treated me before and they ensured it was. Obviously that got screwed up so I then had to reschedule for the next week which was the day that my longer review was about. read more

I had a appointment for 11am I Arrived 10 minutes prior to appointment time completing paperwork with insurance verification after sitting for an hour with no acknowledgment that I was here I had to ask when will I be seen . After a hour of me sitting watching everyone walk around go to lunch come back . One of my kids was called back at 1236 to begin with services As I walked back to ask what's the process and how long will it take the assistant told me that it takes up to an hour or two per patient waiting before they even be seen . I have three kids for appointments so i'm not understanding I have to wait at least four hours before things are complete or for them to start.Then she explains Saturday is a busy day because everyone wants to come so if that's the case and your staff should be prepared for the service so wait time is not so long . My appointment was at 10:30 didn't get called till 11 then x ray went well and fast but when taken to the exam room I waited in there about 2 hours before dentist came and exam and told me what needed done but didn't do anything not even a general cleaning. I have been going to Jefferson Dental for about six months. I went to Dr. Thomas Maveli for a dental check up. I had a bridge that was old and I needed it fixed. He recommend dental implants to replace the bridge. I was against the idea at first. Because I know that dental implants are expensive. The other option given to me was a removable dental partial. I did not like that option. I proceeded on with the dental implants only for three teeth. They offered me with a payment plan that was reasonable. After six months of going to them for treatments regarding the implants. I am very pleased with my results. My teeth look great. They really do care and they do not over charge you for dental procedures like other dentists that I have been to. read more
