    Birch Beer and Iced Tea

Everything was delicious. Food was fresh and dressings/dips were so flavorful! Definitely recommend trying the Birch Beer if you've never had it before.

We have been meaning to try this place out for a while, so glad we did! The restaurant was spotless and we sat in a comfy booth. You can get a burger, hot dog, wings or fries. We got a standard hotdog (mustard, ketchup, raw onions and relish on the side), and standard burger (American cheese, mustard and ketchup), and curry fries with chicken. The fries were a unique treat, enough curry sauce to cover the fries and chicken without drowning them and making the fries soggy. Good flavor that packed a punch with bring overpowering. Bottled sodas were good, and they also had iced teas and waters available. Prices were reasonable and the staff was warm and friendly. You rider at the counter and can get food to go or delivered to your table. Give them a try!!!!

This was my third time to this location. The first time was on their soft opening - it didn't go well. The second time was a couple weeks later - it wasn't much better. However, third time is a charm. It seems that after some finagling with staffing and cook times - they have figured it out!! Granted this was during a weekday and one one other customer in the store - so not much rush or pressure. We order two burgers (Swissshroom & Bacon Cheeseburger) and one specialty fry (BBQ Fry). We ordered extra garlic aoli on the side and no mayo on the Cheeseburger. The staff was friendly and they executed our order perfectly!! The burgers were cooked perfectly, still juicy and seasoned. The fries were very well done hand cut one cook fries. The bbq pork on the fries was delicious and not over saturated with sauce. They even put the cold coleslaw on the side. I was happy surprised by my visit today and glad this this small recently opened franchise has hit their stride. Will return and hope they continue with the friendly staff and quality products!

I was going to the UPS store and decided to check this place out, seeing there was a free fry event. I bought a Bacon and Cheese Burger and a drink. Alongside these two, I got the free fry, which was the BBQ Fries. In a nutshell, Fries with Pork, BBQ sauce, and Coleslaw. The burger was solid. The fries, while not my favorite because I'm not a big BBQ guy, were cooked well and flavorful with the additions. Overall, a pretty solid meal. I would be interested in coming back and trying the other dirty fries.

Yay! New place to try in my area! Had to make the trek to try the new place. Not as good as I would've hoped, sadly. The entire team was new and it showed. There was very little communication between front of house and back, which is bad because they are five feet away from each other. There was 2 instances of messed up food while we were there and it took the kitchen 10 minutes to respond because everyone was hyper focused on their specific task. Which is bad since none of them had the task to be a manager. Food was like five guys but lacking. Smashed burger with no seasoning, some fixings but sparse. Buns were potato rolls, soggy due to the burgers being placed on right of the griddle then immediately sealed in tin foil. Quality Control was non existant. Fried mushrooms were frozen and soaked in oil. Fries were cooked to crispy but not seasoned. This would be fine if they had a good amount of parmesean but they got more parsley than anything. The truffle oil also had no truffle flavor and just made the fries greasier. There's a lot of stumbling blocks with this location as of current. I would hope with time and experience this location will improve, for now though this place is a gamble.

Technically this is a chain so the 4-star rule is in effect but while the reviews are all over the map they do a good job here. The few times I've been here it seems like the bulk of their orders are take out but they have some booths if you want to dine-in. Kind of a small space next to the Vernon Wing Stop but they make good use of it. Kind of a casual no-frills place with enough employees to handle the volume they do. It's mostly known for the different 'dirty fries' they offer but there are burgers, dogs and milkshakes on the menu. Since I haven't tried anything beyond the fries I may update this review if I do. For anyone that's read my reviews I'm not really a 'fries' person but the combinations they offer are unique, creative and there are plenty of them(17 including the 'naked'/plain ones). Service was quick and friendly and each time they had me out the door pretty quickly. The 'fusion' fries were an interesting try with shredded chicken, crushed peanuts and cilantro with a sauce made from hoisin, sriracha and their house-made garlic aioli. The next time I went I tried the steak and cheese fries which had plenty of toppings with the steak, cheese, onions and peppers you'd expect. The reason I'm not giving them 4 1/2 stars (or even 5) is because I think they could cook the fries a bit better. They come out a little too soft and lack the crispiness that would put them over the top with the other ingredients. Adding to that (or at least not helping) is the take-out containers they serve them in. It's kind of like a Chinese take-out quart container but it lacks the 'unfold into a plate' feature that those do, it makes it a little difficult to get a good balance of fries:toppings. It's also got a waxy coating that doesn't help the already not-as-crispy-as-they-could-be fries. So overall very good, will definitely try again and maybe see if there's a difference eating in or asking for the fries 'crispy' or well-done. Added bonus, every 'Fry Day' you get a free order of fries with purchase of an entree (and yes, most of the dirty fries count as an entree). Four stars!

Tried Jefferson Fry for the first time today. I was out running errands around Manchester & Vernon and decided to stop in. Clean fast food place. Placed my order to eat there & sat down. They brought it to me when ready - nice. I had the pesto fries. Pesto, chopped fresh tomato & a little Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. Pretty good and a decent serving. I brought half home for later. good. Next time I think I will try the chicken sandwich which sounded good.

The funkiness of the dry age flavor came through. The burger was moist and hit the spot. 5/5 Onion Rings - 4 jumbo fried rings of oniony goodness. 5/5 Service: super friendly and nice.

She noted to us that she was new and training, but you would have never known as she was extremely attentive, thorough, helpful, and knowledgeable about the menu and offerings. Our food arrived quickly, and each meal was cooked exactly as ordered. We had two Return of the Mac burgers - which were thoroughly enjoyed, a French Onion Soup that was delicious, a French Dip that was tremendous, a wonderful Southwest Salad, and I had the Teriyaki Bowl that was also outstanding. The price for our dinner for 6 was more than reasonable, and we received a great deal of value for the cost. Our waitress was also extremely helpful in helping us bag up our leftovers as most of our eyes were bigger than our stomachs, having filled up on popcorn at the movies. :) In all, a great experience....Service, value, food all combined to provide a great end to our family night. We will definitely return.

Server was friendly and very casual. I asked for her recommendation and was told their grilled chicken sandwich was pretty good. Strange given they use to be really proud in their bbq, but trusted the server and got the west coast chicken sandwich and swapped the bun for a lettuce wrap. Also got the tumbleweeds with a side of spicy aoli to dip in. The food came out after a little bit of a wait, but not too long. Took pics and dug in. The tumbleweeds were cooked well but really lacked in any flavor beyond crispy breading. It really needed a dipping sauce to give it any real flavor. The spicy aoli had a little zip to it and helped though. The chicken was seasoned well but overcooked. The Swiss cheese didn't really add much so I scraped it off. Bacon wasn't crispy, was welded to the Swiss cheese so I just scraped it off with the cheese. The heirloom tomatoes and pickled red onions were very good. Lightly salted and sweet tomatoes and briny sweet onions really complimented the chicken and were welcome additions. Avocado was okay, fresh and presented well. The food wasn't bad, but it did have some stumbles. It's a great venue space, one of the few country bars in the state and is decked out well to be the primo spot for county. It's not a great restaurant, but it's serviceable food and a nice staff. If it can really sell the events and nail those, then the food can be simpler and still do well. For now though, it's okay.

A stop on the way back to UCONN when I was a student there. The "go to" place after our kids' school events. Shortly after we moved to Manchester, over 38 years ago, the restaurant was closed for renovations. We were looking forward to seeing the revamped restaurant. Well, we were even more surprised when we stepped in the door - nothing had changed! Cleaner, perhaps new Naugahyde on the seats, but that mural on the wall was the same - those elves were timeless. When you sit down, you get a small paper cup of water. The menus are on the the wall - soups, sandwiches & ice cream. I'd always heard they had a patent on the way their cheeseburgers were made - a burger topped with crispy cheese. A must have. Prior to Covid, the condiments tray had ketchup, mustard & chopped onions. Now, there are packets of the condiments. No onions though. We shared an order of fries - crispy & good. I was too full to have ice cream after our meal, so we brought a half gallon (yes - a real half gallon) of our favorite flavor home - chocolate almond joy. Yum! Note - you need cash. No cards. Since it's a popular choice, expect crowds til late afternoon for lunch. I didn't notice their breakfast menu among those posted on the walls, but apparently it is served til 11am. As for lunch, the cole slaw is surprisingly superior to most if not all other diners/cafes. Though prices have increased with inflation, still a great value and more competitive than many other comparable places in the state. Furthermore, the consistent taste and nostalgic ambiance are all still intact. Main offerings are between-bread - i.e., sandwiches, so limited options if you have dietary restrictions like having to eat gluten-free (soups contain gluten; I didn't ask if any of the platters could be made GF though), but their iconic fried cheese is still available as an a la carte side. Ice cream flavors include seasonal highlights like pumpkin chocolate chip, and their shakes are generous and delicious. I recommend asking what additional flavors they have available that are not listed on the wall menu. If there are kids in your party, be sure to look out for the table placard with the Children's Menu; the kids in our group enjoyed the chicken platter which included fries, a drink, and 2 substantial breaded chicken fillets.

Tried again, great service but okay food…read more Decided to try them again. They had a brunch menu so I was intrigued to try some French toast. Was very quiet when I went there. Was seated at the bar, where the bartender was prepping for the days service. Asked for his recommendation and he said the burger was really good. Asked for a brunch menu and was told the brunch menu was their lunch menu. Later in the meal, the waitress informed the bartender that the brunch menu was delayed again because the person who developed it was out. So I was too early to get actual brunch. I got an orange juice and a burger with sautéed onions, mushrooms, and pepper jack cheese. Food came out in a reasonable timeframe. Took pics and dug in. As a burger, it was okay but wasn't executed correctly. The burger was a chunky grind of beef chuck, which was unseasoned. The bun was toasted but was just starting to go stale. So the edges were spongy and a tougher chew. The fries were lackluster. Standard bagged fries, limp and not very crispy. Their orange juice is also weirdly out of a can. The price of the burger with add ons and an orange juice was 24 dollars . I'm fine with this price so long as the quality can justify it. But it's missing the execution to justify the price. Everything needs to be dressed or seasoned even if it's just lightly. A tiny bit of salt to a tomato can make the difference between a watery slippery mess to a fruity, savory compliment to the meaty burger. I would also be remiss to ask if they could vary the grind of their meat to a mix of chuck, short rib, and brisket? Or add flavorings to their meat mix to help get more than just straight up ground beef. The bartender was very good about checking in and helping where he could. He saved the experience, but there was little he could do to fix the meal. It's probably a great place to drink, and if you're drunk you won't care about the food as much. So I'll say it's a great bar but not so great food. Go to drink, not to eat

So we came back. Here's why! Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right in downtown Manchester, CT is this gem. It's near the "beginning" if you're coming from the highway. There's no private parking, but there's plenty of free parking on the street and huge parking lots around the back. That's one reason I love Manchester. If we're coming out here to spend money, don't charge us to park our car so that we CAN go spend money! Lol. Inside is like a bit of a tavern and nothing out of the ordinary. It's a little on the small side so just make sure you get here! Service: Alexis behind the bar took care of us both times and she was awesome. She no longer works there and has moved on to owning her own business so we wish her the best! Food: Wings, wings, wings. Every flavor. You need to have them all. Jerk, Parmesan Garlic, Buffalo Rub, Candied Bacon Rub and Everything But The... I'm so serious when I say this. These are probably the best wings in Manchester. Aside from the flavors themselves, the CHICKEN ITSELF has a smokey flavor that also delivers a crispy skin and juicy inside. My goodness they were so incredible, but my favorite was Everything But The... it's basically Everything Bagel seasoning, but you can't go wrong with any of the flavors. Value: Get here for happy hour! 3:00pm to 5:00pm Monday through Friday. I actually hate those happy hour hours, 'cause like... don't most people get off at like 5:00pm?! Lol. Regardless, 8 BIG JUICY wings will run you $12.00 and that's actually a VERY good deal for what you get. In conclusion, I loved it here and will come back over and over. Not only is this place awesome, but there is a mission statement created by MACC Charities when they launched their social enterprise, Bistro on Main, their predecessor. They set out to support, train, and provide opportunities for individuals with barriers to stable employment. By offering a jobs training program that would help them develop employable skills. What does this mean to them? While they are not the same organization, they have set out to continue the mission of doing good within the community while also offering an enjoyable dining experience. The goal is to continue to collaborate with those organizations who provide support for individuals in our community with the most need, such as MACC Community Kitchen or similar educational programs. Both on a permanent basis through specific menu items or on a rolling basis. So, ask us what organization we are supporting during your visit!
