Walked into Urban lodge and there are kids running everywhere - people in running gear stretching for or from a run. I LOVED IT Keep in mind I have not even sat down. I go to get a drink and I LOVE that they have a UCONN pour (delicious beer BTW) but I am an IPA girl super hazy hoppy lover and they did not disappoint- no clue what it was called you will have to find out for yourself Okay so I settle in meet up with my people and we order food (BTW happy hour 4 - 6 daily I think) I had three hungry students with me so they ordered so much I believe there were burgers, chicken sandwiches, pasta, I had a grilled cheese it was amazing! I Came her spur of the moment. I wanted to get a drink and some food with my dog. This brewery is dog friendly! Well behaved pups only. They offer game day specials when the UConn huskies are playing. I got a smash burger for $7.00! I wanted bacon on it so it was 2$ more. So a total of $9.00 the burger was delicious but did not come with fries for that price. I also enjoyed a 1741 hard cider. Service was fast and friendly. Gets pretty busy on the weekend. I visited using the CT Beer Trail passport 2-for-1 and enjoyed the Fireside Vanilla Porter which was on draft and then the Pop's stout from a can. Irish nachos were the special for the day which are crispy potatoes with cheese, bacon and jalapeños with salsa and sour cream. Delish! It was nice to visit a brewery on a Monday and to have a nice snack as well. Staff here are really friendly and efficient. Cool decor including the wall paintings and merch. read more

Having never been to Urban Lodge before, I was a bit thrown off by the parking situation. I ended up on Main Street and walked, only to later discover there's a parking lot just down the hill (though I'm still not sure how to actually get to it). My friend and I met up for Happy Hour and grabbed seats indoors, placing our orders through our phones. Her drink showed up almost instantly, while mine took its sweet time. At least our meals arrived together. I went with the Coventry Chicken Bowl, which was pretty tasty overall, though for the price, I expected a bit more. The avocado was past its prime, but I didn't make a fuss. After eating, we moved outside to chat for a while. It's nice that they have plenty of seating and different options, and I got a chuckle from the bathroom decor. I wouldn't rule Urban Lodge out entirely, but this first visit didn't completely win me over. read more

This is a review more for the venue than the food, only because I forgot to take pics of the food..lol The venue is great! Very cute inside & cozy. One side is an open brewery feel, while the other side which is much quieter & has a coffee house vibe. The quiet side is mostly only open for special occasions, so it's always an option to get away from the brewery noise. I really like this place. There is outdoor seating as well & plenty of games if you are up for it. We were a party of 7 & no one had anything negative to say about the food. Is that to say it was a 10 out of 10, no, but it's a good place to spend some time & the food is better than most. I ate the peper crusted burger & opted for onion rings. They were pretty greasy, so I shared. We had 2 Sheppard pies, a Philly cheesecake, a grain bowl, grilled cheese & the blackened chicken. All were reported as good. The grain bowl had nice flavor & I didn't want to stop eating it.We brought our own cake & the staff was extremely accomodating, getting us paper plates, plasticware & a lighter. They were also looking up the prices of clothes that were being clearanced. We ordered over the phone & ordered beer at the bar & when it was time to pack up leftovers, they have a whole self service station next to the bar. I look forward to coming back & doing a proper review on the brewery & will also do one on the Urban lodge kitchen. OMG! I just learned they are bringing the food from the lodge kitchen next door over into the brewery! I don't know how that will work in the winter, but apparently they have been doing it since 2019. Our family attended our daughter's rehearsal dinner here last week and we were very pleased with the experience. They chose a buffet of tacos, quesadillas and a variety of sides. The inside of this restaurant is very Manchester-centered. I like that. There are many pictures on one wall from over the years the Manchester Road race winners. Each has a small bio in the frame, very interesting. There is a restaurant & a bar part. They are separated by a hallway where the bathrooms are located. There are also bathrooms in the restaurant area. You can easily see into the brew house area by way of windows & door in the hallway. If you are using your TOAST rewards, they are not familiar with how to retrieve your points, but they know how to add your points. That was OK for me.. ON TO THE FOOD! My husband got a dark Irish ale. He said it was very good. He got a 9 oz pour. I got a Sprit & water. ( sorry guys, I'm dry) So our food came after quite a few minutes my husband got the grilled cheese without tomato & a half-&-half, which is half fries & half green rings. My husband really liked the grilled cheese & he said that the caramelized onions really made it! I got the veggie burger through the weeds, which is arugula & a nice fine sliced iceberg & 2 sliced pieces of tomato & I got the regular sauce that comes with it, which is a blend of ketchup, bbq, & mayo.& also some of their house Ranch, which I really enjoyed.! I was very happy with my meal & so was my husband, we just said we would come back again. It was very easy to talk in this place. It wasn't very loud. The music is at a level where you can talk & still hear yourself. It's really good. DRESS CODE: It's very laid-back in here as far as dress code is concerned I didn't see anybody terribly dressed up & I didn't see anybody who was walking in their pajamas or anything. I love this place. The people are so nice, and I didn't feel hesitant to talk to some of the other patrons. The first time I went here, I got a virgin drink because I wanted to be responsible. I didn't get any food, but I will definitely order something next time and I will for sure be making new friends here. I love the UConn Huskies and this place is where I could meet other husky fans. You know what I love about this place? Unlike many of the local breweries, Urban Lodge has comfy chairs and I can hear myself think -- even on a Saturday afternoon. The nearby car chargers are a plus. This is their original location in downtown Manchester. They've been here a while, and for good reason. They make a variety of beers, including the mandatory IPA and NEIPA, but also plenty of stouts and sours for those who enjoy them. I haven't tried the food, but the happy hour menu has some amazing deals if you can get off of work early. Come in and relax. Sink into the chair. Slowly drink a good beer while your car charges. They really nailed the lodge vibe without resorting to animal heads and bearskin rugs. read more

I haven't been to a great amount of breweries but I've been to enough to say this place is great. We won a gift certificate to urban lodge and went for lunch on a UConn game day. We had a UConn special, a smash burger. It was so good. That along with a UConn. Territory beer and lunch was complete. The service was fast and friendly. Prices, especially the game day specials, were equal to or less than prices I have experienced lately. The crowd was mostly younger people having a great time but even though I'm a boomer I did not feel out of place. I had a great time. The place is warm and inviting. Will definitely return. We were visiting Manchester and were delighted to find Urban Lodge. It's dog-friendly indoors and out and it was perfect for my pup. Everyone who works there is so friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the brewed ice tea with alcohol, the berry sour, and the food. We had the happy hour burgers and truffle fries and they were delicious! We then ordered a flatbread, deviled eggs, and the beer cheese mac and cheese. Everything was yummy and we had plenty of extra food to bring back to our hotel. We actually returned the next day because we wanted more of the delicious iced tea/beer. Again, super friendly and accommodating staff! The setting outside is spacious and nice. Update. I gave it 50 days to brew some new beer and it was a fail. Stopped in again and it was the same taplist and some not even available on tap, but only in a can. Why would i pay $9 for a can and drink it in house when i can buy it for $3.75 a can and drink it wherever. Unfortunately it seems like they just mass brew and can everything and check out till its time to brew more of the same stuff. I've visited Urban Lodge in Manchester just to pick up some beers to go but this time I had lunch with friends. I've already been to the Hartford location and this one is way bigger than I thought. If you've only been through the street entrance, there's a way bigger area in the back. The Urban Lodge Kitchen is in it's own building, close enough for people to hustle your food into the dining area. Speaking of the food, damn the food is really good. I've already tried the double smashburger but this time I was wooed by the pastrami melt (sans caramelized onions) and it was so delicious. Sourdough, two cheeses, 1,000 island dressing, mmmmmm. We shared beer nachos which were also full of flavor (chili, cheesy sauce, guac, etc.). My friend raved over the brisket quesadilla and my wife loved her burger. The IPAs are my jam and I really enjoyed the Maui and the Double Black Diamond. One of my friends is kind of a Budweiser guy and he had a tough time finding something on tap that he liked. His loss because the beers were great. I will be back, for sure. read more

This is a warehouse that's been converted into an artwork ... it's such a fun, lively brewery tucked away around Main Street. It's my personal escape to find tranquility with good friends and good beer. As soon as you pull up you will notice the graffiti spattered murals on the side wall, patio backyard with fire pits, stone walls & string lights. Their beer is described as "very crushable, drinkable beers" Beer: constantly rotating on tap, I love their flight of light beers... esp the morning mist. Other craft cocktails, cider, red wine and some non-alcoholic drinks too. Snacks: pretzels from Hartford baking co., Popcorn, ice cream sandwiches ... and you are welcome to bring your own food as well. You can book the space for private events, like last week when I visited a portion of it was shut off for a private event. They have live music, trivia, paint nights... This was a really fun spot. Family & dog friendly, quite loud, and really good beer and food. I wish there was a bit more seating as it was near impossible to find a spot to sit around 5:00 on a Saturday. But, I'd imagine the outdoor seating alleviates this issue, so when it's warmer, I'll be stopping by again. I love their branding and mission and appreciate their quality beer. Urban Lodge really upped their IPA game since pre-COVID! Went twice recently, and am ready to go back when the opportunity presents itself. They fixed up the rear indoor area (which was previously what I would have called an uninspiring overflow area) to the point where it now outshines the front area in at least some ways. The vibe up front is a little more warm and welcoming, like a small, well-equipped ski lodge, but the back seemed to be where all the action was. The outdoor space was great as well, and the lighting and murals give the place such a great feel. As I often do, I'm going to comment on parking, despite most people not really caring to the degree I do, but I'll keep it brief...there's a TON of parking, and it's easily accessible and navigable. TIPS - - There's another brewery in pseudo-walking distance (about 3/4 of a mile away on Forest Street) if you wanted to check out Urban Lodge and make your trip to the area a two-for-one. Stopping in for the first time to grab a flight with a couple of friends I appreciate how it was a hidden gem away from the busy main road. Carving out a small section for both indoor and outdoor seating, I waited in the bar area while my friends arrived. I saw cute seating areas where it had the decor and layout of a coffee shop but with people enjoying brews and giant pretzels. The bar area seems to be more intimate or having a quicker drink than the other area and outside that seem to favor a larger crowd. We eventually migrated to the other room where party size tables were filled with patrons and some furry friends. I do appreciate the artwork on the walls with a presentation of Manchester decorating the walls with landmarks like the library and the neighborhood brewery Labyrinth. We all enjoyed a flight for $11 with each of us grabbing a snack due to the current situation; grabbing popcorn, rosemary chips and a giant pretzel with beer cheese and mustard dip. The tastes seem clean and flavorful but can't offer more as we were wrapped up in conversation catching up in over a year. Urban Lodge is really nice brewery in Manchester. Only on my most recent visit last week, I just discovered they have a whole back section I never knew of before. The front area is where they host events, like trivia or paint night. The back is where you can play games with your group of friends. They have mini golf here, and darts. There is plenty of comfy couches and bar seating options. There's also fire pits and a nice space for outdoor fun. I had a delicious raspberry sour called Stop n Go. The vibe inside is very cozy and home feeling. Parts of it look and feel like I'm in someone's living room. I for sure recommend checking out this fun spot! read more

A gem right off of main street, Manchester offering a wide selection of locally made craft beer. Unlike many other breweries I have been to, this has a very relaxed and more family oriented vibe to it, making it a great place for parents to bring their young ones along with them. I enjoy this type of atmosphere compared to the bar, usually consisting of people who truly appreciate the product being served to them instead of just drinking to get drunk. There is no in house entrees (they do sell pretzels) but you can have pizza from filomenas delivered right to your table & lucky taco is right up the street. Theres a cozy outdoor set up around an electric fireplace with chairs and tables underneath a large trellis frame. A must see for the local/visiting beer lover. I got a flight and I strongly reccomend the watermelon sour. read more

Urban Lodge is eccentric. The interior is a jumble of lakeside living, an industrial man cave, and a golf course. While the atmosphere inside is questionable, the back patio and accompanying live music offer a casual vibe and multiple seating options to fit your party. Additionally, you can rent out Urban Lodge's front room for your own private event. We tried two of Urban's dark beers: a vanilla porter and a milk stout. While both drinks offered the strong finish we were looking for, the vanilla porter was oddly carbonated and the milk stout was underwhelming. Neither offered a particularly unique or memorable flavor. There is ample parking behind Urban Lodge, and the outdoor area accommodates families and children. One of Urban's most appealing characteristics is it's proximity and walkability to Manchester. Overall, Urban Lodge has quick service, easy parking, average brews, good prices, and nice outdoor space. read more

This place is off the main drag in Manchester. If you haven't been there before, follow your GPS or you might go back and forth like I did! There was a private event going on in the front, so we traversed to the back entrance. Several small celebrations going on, lots of people... and oh my, it was LOUD!! That's the only thing I can say against it though. They had friendly staff, a large selection of brews all made in the premises, as well as wines and snacks, including huge pretzels with mustard and cheese sauces. This place is family and pet friendly, with several well-behaved children and dogs present. Urban Lodge Brewing Company is a craft brewery that opened in Manchester, Connecticut in August 2019. It was founded by brothers-in-law Michael Gerrity and Ryan Fagan. After they married two sisters, the two soon became good friends and started homebrewing together as a hobby. Eventually they decided to become business partners and open their own brewery. Gerrity and Fagan had ties to Manchester so the location they chose was a vacant property near Main Street. The name they chose for the brewery was a nod to their home life; the two married sisters with the last name 'Lodge' -- and a 'lodge' is also a warm place that they like to go to. Gerrity still works at his day job, while Fagan works full time at the brewery as the head brewer. I visited Urban Lodge Brewing for the first time this past Friday while I was cycling the network of bike trails in the Greater Hartford area. I visited a few breweries that day and Urban Lodge was my third and final stop of the day. There was quite a crowd when I arrived, especially on their beautiful outdoor patio area where a live musician was performing. I walked into the taproom which was also quite nice. There was even a nice private event room which had its own bar and had a cool "lodge" motif. After looking over the draught menu, I ordered a sampler flight which consisted of "Stowe Away" (New England IPA), "Loft Cause Maui" (New England IPA), "Giant Sequoia" (Double IPA), and "Double Black Diamond" (Double New England IPA). I enjoyed the flight so much that I ordered a second one which consisted of "Open Trail" (New England Pale Ale), "Open Trail w/ Cascade & Mosaic", "Fireside" (Vanilla Porter), and "Pop's Stout" (Milk Stout). Overall, my favorite offering was "Double Black Diamond". Urban Lodge makes a nice addition to Manchester's growing brewery scene. read more

What a great re purposing of a building!! Additionally, the ladies room...... ( I am a believer that the restroom should be just as nice and clean as the restaurant or business. ) Well, this is one of the nicest bathrooms I have been in locally. Bravo!!! This place is great! Came on a Friday night around 6 and it was super busy but amazingly didn't feel crowded at all because of how much space there is. There's an outdoor patio with fire pits, a game/pool room where they have live music and they have their tap room. Each space has its own feel but all very homey and welcoming. They have a decent spread of beer, but they also offer cider and wine. I got the wine and my bf got the milk stout. The wine was pretty good! My bf said the milk stout was just standard. The night we came they had live music in the game room. The room is nicely set up with a foosball table, Cornhole and giant Jenga just to mention a few things. They have different places to sit and also stand. The music was a good as well. I would definitely come back here especially with a larger group and hang out for a couple hours.
