Jefferson Mall - Shopping Centers Near Me - Louisville, Kentucky

The Jefferson Mall has improved since I first reviewed six month ago. They have better stores, cleaner, and low traffic. I rarely come here but maybe make more trips to it. Dilliards and Jc penny are some of the anchor stores. I saw a new barber shop and candy shop as some of the new tenants. Both of them were appealing and tempting to try. They also have a new video game shop , Round 1, that I reviewed a few months ago as well. It has a bowling ally in it as well. The LensCrafters staff was friendly and easy to work with. The eye doctor did a thorough job checking my eyes and my vision improved. The only issue was the apprentice sales person who didn't give 50% off that my wife got on my frames and didn't add the extras that I asked for several times. I got to call them tomorrow to get that fixed. The mall has improved and that a positive. If it been awhile since you dropped by, give it a another shot. read more

Jefferson mall is a traditional indoor mall located in Lousiville Kentucky in the okolona neighborhood of the city just off busy outer loop road. I would be dishonest if I said I didn't have great memories at this mall. Growing up near and around This area this once prominent mall had lots of great stores and places to see. Over the years it is just became really ran down. Majority of the top retail stores have bailed only to be replaced by low end places or temporary pop ups. The place isn't very updated or well kept. It very much a mall that has been hanging on by a thread probably for the last 15 years now. Whether that's due to high rent (rumors I've heard) or disinterest in the community (this particular area has dwindled during same time frame) I'm not sure. But they can't seem to attract big business or keep established ones anymore. The bright sides of this mall that remain is they have nice sized food court for eating and relaxing. Highlighted by local legend max orient known for great Chinese food and the locally famous workers with the call of "sample sample". They also for whatever reason every year during the Christmas season have the best Santa clause and setup for visiting him. Overall it makes me sad to see how far this mall has fallen and how empty This once thriving mall is. Hopefully the mall can get competitive again and return to its glory days. read more

the mall is ver run down everytime it rains you see buckets of water everywhere from leaks. they dont turn on the air or heat the monitor each stores cash intake monthly. security is a joke the only one who takes the job seriously is the guy with the dog. seems like alot of filler shops with no high end merch. at least 8 empty stores. PR is a joke there the social media aspect is a joke they dont do PR to get people in the mall, seems like they rent to anyone cause they know they will still get paid. stores are charged 15k or more for rent each month with a 3% extra of sale taxed on every store maybe more. The GM is never there , the asst GM is never there. any positives lots of parking 3 good places to eat. and BJs gas is right there. would i recommend working here NO fast shopping cause its empty yes. most to come to this mall consider it the DIRT MALL read more

I hate to say this mall just goes downhill about every year it seems. It wasn't very busy yesterday which was a good thing for me at the time. I did of course get bothered by kiosk people, which is the MAIN reason I hate going here or any other mall for that matter. I understand they must make a living but being persistent is annoying. It does look like some more stores closed. I saw that Spencer's was closed but not permanently, I saw someone come out and go back in. There was no sign posted as to why there were closed or anything, just a closed gate. I also noticed sales persons at these stores are more persistent than ever before it could be pandemic related or maybe a strategy to catch shoplifters which seems common everywhere nowadays. I'm asked constantly if I need help with anything, I understand why they do it but, it's just annoying. I won't be surprised if this place closes in the future. I hate to leave a bad review but this experience must be shared. I understand everyone is just now getting past the pandemic but, this mall doesn't seem to make an effort to make themselves more appealing. I really want to see this place thriving again but I don't see that happening. I just go here for big sales and that's about it. read more

Man oh man the Jefferson Mall gone way downhill over the years. 20 years ago we used to go here all the time when I was in high school get Max orient walk around by things that he's had a really good atmosphere to be honest going to spencers guess hitting all that up was fun. Now the mall is just kind of dreaded look in still has some of the cool stores but a lot of them are gone and it's just not a very good mall anymore it's kind of dangerous spot for some reason there's a lot of crimes and things that are happening shootings different things at the mall and outside I don't know what's going on with it but I try not to go here very often at all. I always just hit up Max orient which at the 5out of 5 all day. Besides that I have no business going into this mall read more

I must love this mall, went 3 times within 2 days...pros off the beaten path so not much foot traffic or shoppers etcthe morning crowd of Mall walkers...is that a club you join? Cons: they are off the path so you have to navigate thru the traffic, not near the interstates. Sears, Dillards and JCPenney's are the anchor stores. Very nice Starbucks. Food Court is nice with great food choices. I like Ross and Old Navy. read more

The Jefferson Mall was a place a grew up with, so maybe I am biased, but I can also say that out of my 24 years of living, this place has not changed much. To make a long story short, it's a mall that does not offer much. I will say when I grew up in Shepherdsville this place was more of a big deal, since it had more to offer than my small town. Now living next to the Oxmoor and St. Matthew's malls, I never step foot in Jmall unless I absolutely have to. It's a bit run down, with a lot of empty store spaces from recent store closings. There isn't much that is worth coming here for, although I will say the new Round1 arcade is nice. The type of crowd this mall attracts is probably what keeps me out the most, and much can't be done about that. There have been multiple instances where I have witnessed theft or have heard employees talking about it, and have seen a fight from time to time break out here. Not to mention cars getting broken into and kidnapping attempts. Hence, it's not the safest place. If it's your only option, it'll do. If not, do not waste your time here. read more

I just don't care for this mall at all. They do have a nice selection of stores but you can go to St. Matthews or Oxmoor and get the same stores, but nicer. The mall is easy to navigate because it's a straight line. There is always a lot of parking available but there is never really a place to park where you think your car is safe. I have heard of numerous people getting their cars broken into and people arguing so you never know what you're going to get yourself into. Even though I don't like J Mall, I can see why people shop here since Outer Loop is a closer drive for some people than Shelbyville Road. read more

Jefferson Mall is a childhood staple for me as I spent most of my weekends here. When I came back home to visit I brought my little sister here. This has become a makeshift mall. If you're looking for a place to "hangout" then this place is fine. However, if you're looking for places to really shop this isn't the spot for you. The better Mall is St. Matthews. I wish more of the larger stores would return here but I'm not sure if that's going to happen. read more

Came here while visiting the Louisville area for work. It's definitely a really gorgeous mall, I really wanted to check out this mall. The mall is definitely easy to navigate, there's not many anchor stores active here anymore from looking at the facade scars. Interior on the mall is the highlight their center point reminds me of being inside a casino. I can see the mall is trying every effort to keep businesses in so it doesn't face a death that every mall is truly going through. It's got mostly a variety of clothing stores and random small shops. Definitely give this mall a chance, it's not the greatest mall but It'll accommodate most of what your looking for. I realized too that there's a bunch of boarded up entrances too and sketchyness outside of the mall. Please take care of it! It's an eye sore read more

What mall isn't struggling these days? Jefferson Mall seems to be yet another one on its last legs. Dead empty on a Friday afternoon. It's unusual to see a Ross in a mall, but this one has one. If it's going to survive, it probably needs a redevelopment... make it indoor/outdoor with lots of patios and chill spaces for people to linger and spend their money. read more

A dying mall that by my vague memory is going much the way Bashford Manor did. Many of the stores are closed and the crowd is very spotty at best. They have started renting space to Ford for them to store vehicles on the parking lot because nobody else is using the spots. read more

During my last visit, my experience was anything but good. My experience while in the mall was decent, but once I was exiting to my car- that was an entirely different story. My husband, two small children and I were leaving and walking to our car. We immediately hear men yelling at each other, cursing and making threats. They were about to fight in the parking lot, and mall security was slow to intervene. My 6 year old was scared, and we had to walk past this mess. In my opinion, this is not a family friendly mall. read more

I'm not a big browser and when I shop I am on a mission to find specific items. We stopped by the Jefferson Mall recently to make a quick stop into Bath & Body Works. The Jefferson Mall has lots of parking. It is not in my usual path but I have been here before. The Dillard's in this mall is the best one in Louisville. The staff is much nicer and friendlier than other Dillard's in this town. It was not loud or crowded. read more

Not somewhere I go unless I have too. This place Has declined so much over the years. I do not feel safe here and hate to leave my car in the parking lot to even shop inside. There are still several great shops inside that can't help the outside environment, but safety first for me. They have a great American cookie and pretzel stand. read more

Many malls get a bad wrap but I've always liked this mall. Never had any problems or issues and everything is here that you would ever want. From a nice food court to a candle shop to shoes to soap and to big anchor stores, this mall is a one stop shop! Parking lot is big and it's nice and cool inside, even on a 90 deg. day. read more

My 1st and only pair of black moccasins, MY VERY 1St BLACK LEATHER JACKET my 1st stuff that said IOU, I could keep going on about 1st. This mall is considerably smaller and slightly less nice than the other Louisville Malls (Oxmoor and St.Matthews) but don't let that turn you away. This mall still has plenty to offer and really isn't as sketchy as some people make it out to be, that being said, fair warning, parking has been difficult most of my visits mainly because of Round1! read more

I stopped in here on a late Friday afternoon. J had hoped to check out quickly that is never the case at this location. I did ash them to hold my items until the next day. They did which I was pleased. My mom and were there shopping for an hour and half picking through the same racks and the semi annual sale items. The help we received from Sophie was fabulous!!! She was a 5. Waiting in for 10 minutes is super frustrating. I do not have this problem with other VS stores but this one always seems to only have one cashier. I love saving money and the benefits of being an Angel card holder but the wait here is more like a 1 star. read more

Good: Typical, but decent mix of stores. I've been to other malls that maybe had too many of one type of store. Though clothing and shoes seem to dominate here, I still feel it is a good mix. As of this writing, the mall is up to date as far as decor and remodeling goes... looks good. Though small, the food court offers enough choices that should please anyone. More good: Though fun, the tacky, horribly arranged bungee trampoline has been removed and replaced with a low-profile play area for kids (similar to those that have been popping up at malls all over the country). It looks great and fits with the mall. The kids seem to love it and there is plenty of comfy seating for mom or dad. UPDATE: The ugly bungee thing, the "beast", is back! See my pics. It's in front of Sears now. I like this thing, but it belongs in a carnival, not here. They even raised the tacky bar with bright, blue rope light. Nice. Bad: The Old Navy store is only accessible from the outside of the mall. While I do like and use this entrance, I'm not sure why an interior entrance was not incorporated into the design. It's annoying, on a cold or rainy day, to have to run through the elements to get to the store. Very bad (in regard to parking, so not a terribly big deal): There is an area around JCPenney that was resurfaced several years ago. It was never re-striped causing a crazy parking snafu just outside the JCP side entrance (see my pics). WTH, J-mall? Overall, it is a great mall and it is the anchor of Louisville's shopping district along the Outer Loop corridor. read more

I live really close to J-mall but I stopped going a while ago and would go towards the east end malls. After many years I went back this past weekend with my boyfriend to kill some times and I was VERY surprised at how nice it was. The stores were all very clean, I could actually walk into JC Penny and see what was available to buy because things were put up unlike the St. Matthews location. I really like what they had done bringing in new stores such as the arcade! They still have empty stores they could fill but I am really happy that they are trying to bring the mall back up and I am excited to see what else they bring! My only complaint is that the larger stores such as JC Penny and Dillard's have less stock available but that has more to do with the square footage of the building than anything else! I will be returning! read more

I am not a fan of this mall. I've been here 1000x, and the worst part is getting here. Traffic is always a cluster. Outer Loop is awful. The best way to get here is the back way - from Fern Valley or from Smyrna Road. Avoid Preston and Outer Loop where possible. The stores in the mall aren't too bad. Many just don't appeal to me, but I acknowledge that they have some decent ones. Aeropostale, Macy's, Old Navy, GNC, Chick-fil-A... Actually, for Southenders, this is the closest Chick-fil-A around. As well, the GNC is the only one I know of that carries ACG3 (pre-workout supplement). But for shopping, I'd rather go to the Summit or any of the other malls. One of the benefits to this place is the people watching. Just take my word for it. read more

So many great memories here, I've been coming to this mall almost all my life. Since I can remember, it's changed a lot over the years but at the heart of it it's stayed the same. The mall stays clean, maintained, and the restrooms do too. The vendors, and merchants that make this place home are all great. I have no real problems with this mall, but I rarely go anymore because I moved north. I did work at this mall for over two years though so I still like to visit every few years for reminiscing purposes. It's changed a lot since then and a lot of the stores are different. My favorite addition is Ross. I miss that popcorn store. I used to go on my breaks and walk down there and buy some nacho flavored popcorn and just sit on a bench and watch people. That was before cell phones, thank goodness, or else I would've been playing apps on my phone the whole time and then I'd barely remember the mall at all. I love the laid back atmosphere of this Mall. All of the stores you expect are here (Dillard's, Spencers, F.Y.E., Victoria's Secret, Hot Topic, Aeropostale, Bath and Body Works etc). It is always less crowded than the other two malls in the city which makes it less stressful and more enjoyable. My advice; go on a week day during the day for the most peaceful all inclusive shopping experience in the city. read more

When compared to St. Matthews mall or Oxmoor, Jefferson mall adds up to be the same. It has a nice play area in the center of the mall along with a Starbucks for those caffeine fiends. The food court is a nice bonus, pretty good Chinese food followed by subway, chick FIL a and a few other places. I think St. Matthews and Oxmoor is cleaner and more modern, but Jefferson does hold its own. It lacks a Macy's but the Ross store is connected to the mall and that's a bonus! read more

To be fair, Jefferson Mall is not as bad as locals will make it seem. There are some decent stores there with nice staff. However, I would be lying if I gave this mall anything over 2 stars. If you are a young woman and scroll through this mall after 7pm on a weekend alone, you will constantly get hit on by little teenage boys (or creepy old men). So be prepared to ignore a lot of hormone enraged adolescents. I am not exaggerating. The good: There are a lot of nice little shops and restaurants surrounding this mall as well and you can find some pretty sweet deals in the shops at the mall. The target behind the mall is one of my favorite targets because they always have good deals there! The Bad: Lots of loud teenagers, little kids running around stores (*cough* JCPenny *cough* with no parent in visible sight and as i said before.... lots of little boys asking if you have a boyfriend. read more

The circle the kiosks and wait for people the pounce and use high pressure sales tactics to push their over priced goods. They follow you and keep pushing for you to but. Jmall aka Jefferson mall is a great place well can be it's kinda on the short end of the stick when it comes to st Mathews mall but overall is a nice place with some selection some ! In particular because of an associate named Lindsey. She is one of the most pleasant sales persons I've every met. Very knowledgeable about the candles. Since I'm not originally from Louisville, I always wondered why everyone I talked to didn't like Jefferson Mall. Literally, everyone said that it sucked big time. It's a little smaller than Mall St. Matthews & Oxmoor, but I don't think it's any worse. It has the typical mall stores, typical mall food court (with the sample, sample lady!), and typical mall screaming children being unattended by their lazy parents. The worst part about Jefferson Mall? Fighting the traffic on Outer Loop to get to it. read more
