We found this restaurant through yelp and we decided to try some local restaurants. My boyfriend and I came here yesterday for Tacos and quesadillas. We were from Columbus visiting Cincinnati for the holiday weekend. It was very semi busy and surprisingly we were able to find a seat inside. The server greeted us so quickly and was so friendly. I was very surprised with how fast our food and drinks came out. It was honestly quite impressive. The food was very flavorful, and delicious. We usually have gone to Condados, and this was even way better. The quesadilla was so cheesy and yummy. The taco was very filling. When my boyfriend and I come back to Cincinnati we definitely will come back to this restaurant because we just had an overall great experience. Absolutely horrendous and disgraceful! The security did not even let us in around 10 pm because he claimed my mom (who's Diabetic) had a bottle of water and that there were no "outside" drinks allowed, to which I thought was referring mainly to alcohol. Honestly, if you want business, you CANNOT have ABSURD rules like this. Jefferson Social is currently running a great special for a taco takeout deal! For $10, you get a margarita and two supreme beef tacos. My roommate and I decided to preorder this deal for cinco de Mayo with a few other tacos. Overall the food tasted great, but there were a few things that could use improvement. Even though we "preordered" our meal wasn't ready and when we got home we realized half our order was missing from the to go box. Jefferson social did compensate us and gave us some extra margaritas for free, but it was still aggravating that we had to make a second trip. Then we had to reheat the tacos from the first trip. The staff was super apologetic about the situation, and I get they were slammed for cinco de Mayo and it's not a normal process for them to do to go orders. Long story short, if you decide to preorder, just check what's in your bag before you leave! I definitely would order the taco supreme again, it had a lot of flavor and I thought the hard shell taco was delicious. Stopped in for a few drinks the night before a football game and enjoyed the place. There were a lot of people there, but it didn't feel overly crowded or crazy, and didn't have to wait too long to order either. Respectable selection of draft beers available, I was a big fan of the Lime Garage Beer, best lime beer I've ever had. Also had a nice bourbon selection, as we had some Weller 12 year as a nightcap. Jefferson social has a great vibe. Located at The Banks, it isn't the ultra-trendy, stuffy spot you'd expect. It has a cool dive bar mixed with cantina feel. I've been here a few times now and have always enjoyed myself. My last visit was the first time we ordered any food and I was really impressed. My friend and I decided to split two tacos and an order of their street corn. I was obsessed with this corn. It was amazing! It is covered in chili lime mayo, cilantro and cheese. Holy crap was this delicious. We also tried the blackened shrimp taco, which be warned actually packs some pretty decent heat and the taconey taco. This is one of those things you just HAVE to try once. It's like a taco and a cheese coney morphed into one super weird, but super good snack. Stopped here with a big group and they were very accommodating to us. My burger and side salad were very good. It look a long time (maybe 30 minutes) to get our bill after we requested it, and when we went to check on it, our waitress was doing tequila shots. So overall, hard to recommend. read more

I came. I saw. I drank some beers. We literally walked into this place as we were inching closer to a concert at the arena a block or so away. I was beyond excited to be seeing Radiohead later that evening and I think even if this place was terrible (which it was not), I would have enjoyed it. I did appreciate the local/regional offerings that they had on tap, and the friendly bartenders who did not kill my vibe. I believe this is basically a Cincinnati Reds bar...and that is alright by me. It also appears that you can bring your dog and hang on the patio with her/him while you enjoy yourself amongst friends. Ordered the chips and queso. It was good and hot. Nice portion. I ordered the chicken taco platter with rice. The chicken was bland and rice was under cooked and lacked favor. Added sauce to the meal but it didn't really help. This was my first visit. Not some place I will probably come to often especially with the variety of places in the area. We enjoyed all of our food and we were glad that we were able to have our pups with us on the patio and that you had water bowls for all furry friends. And they really enjoyed their burger patty - thank you for making our special request of a burger only no bun or sides. We got the chips & salsa which were really good and fresh to start as were were walking with our pups. Our waitress was absent for 90% of our experience and when she was engaging our group, we got the feeling that she was uninterested in providing even subpar service quality. Granted it was on a Sunday evening, but regardless that is unacceptable. However, the tacos and appetizers helped us to look beyond the service pitfalls. Typically, I have only gone to Jefferson Social while spending a Friday or Saturday night down at The Banks. This past week I went to the bar for a PRSA event before going to the Reds game. With my amazing luck it happened to be Taco Tuesday! The group was situated in a back corner with booths and a few tables. Lucky for me, we had our own taco and nacho bar. Everything was extremely fresh and there were so many options to choose from. I made myself a plate (or two) of nachos with sour cream and salsa and a chicken taco with pico de Gallo, sour cream, and some lettuce. The food was absolutely delicious and I definitely want to go back for another Taco Tuesday (all tacos are $2-4). To top off my meal I ordered the house strawberry lemonade (with a splash of vodka of course). It was Taco Tuesday so me and a couple coworkers stopped in for lunch. I ordered two fish tacos and a chicken taco. The fish was breaded but I wasn't a fan of how the batter was seasoned. It wasn't bad but something about the mix seemed not to match to me. The chicken taco was good and seasoned really well. The portions were fitting for the discounted price. I can't see myself coming back on a day that is not Tuesday and paying $3-$4 for their tacos. We also ordered the Saratoga chips that were very well seasoned and so crispy! Met a couple clients here based on their recommendation. We asked for some chips and salsa (there is a charge) which tasted like pre-packaged chips and salsa. I ordered the barbacoa tacos which came with two tacos toped with some shredded short rib, pico, cilantro and cotija. The tacos were a bit soggy however the meat was cooked nicely and was very tender. The side of beans were lacking in flavor and really needed more salt and spices, plus they were also a bit watery. Great downtown destination for tacos, drinks, and conversation. While on the more expensive side for tacos (~4.50 per taco), my Korean taco and Blackened Shrimp taco were incredible. I'll definitely order two Koreans next time though because the blackened shrimp was VERY spicy. I don't think I'd ever be interested in making it a platter (which adds beans and rice for +$3). Put that money towards the chips and salsa. Very flavorful salsa and plenty of chips. Be careful though and look at your chip before you bit into it... some are literally layered in salt probably from not being mixed well. Anyways, good and attentive service until it was time to pay the bill. Then she just disappeared... which was frustrating because we were there to eat before an FCC game. My wife and I stopped in on a Wed prior to a Reds game. We arrived and sat down 1:15 minutes prior to game time. Place was full but there was no wait to sit. Would give this place 0 stars if I could. Tried to go here on a Sunday night with my REAL out of state ID. The bouncer refused to let me in because there was "no state seal." There is very clearly a seal as this is a real Id. If you're from out of state definitely don't go here since the bouncers clearly have no knowledge of what any out of state ids look like!!! So basically I had seen this place plenty of times but I thought it was going to be nasty bar food. But I finally went in last wknd and what do you knowwwww.... it's good bar food! Like no seriously I ordered the nachos (all veggie the second time and with chicken the first time), a taconey, wings, and a strawberry lemonade drink with libations in it that is soooo good. First things first... the nachos are SMACKIN!!! I do how you get flavor on a veggie nacho but man oh man. My friend had wings and even she ate my veggie nachos with a grin. She said the wings were good. We washed it down with the strawberry lemonade drinks and had two each and we were feeling the tipsy spirit take over. We ate on the patio on a nice sunny day. I've been to Jefferson Social a couple of times just for drinks and appetizers. All three times that I have checked in, the service has been excellent! I drink mostly craft beers on tap, which they had a great selection. The only appetizers I've tried are the soft pretzel sticks and Chorizo Corn Dog Pops (a must try)- it's a Mexican chorizo served with garlic ketchup and chili spiced yellow mustard! Yum!!! The next time I return, I really want to try their specialty tacos!! Besides beers, they do have wines and classic cocktails. This is my go to bar always before Red's or Bengal's game. They have the type of huge windows which can be raised up on a garage door type system which was very nice on a pleasant day like today with a gentle breeze wafting through. And to put themselves out there for their Classic Cocktails - they only offered 6! Neither of us could finish our side of Saratoga Chips as they were the saltiest chips ever!! We ended up here because every other spot around here was too busy an hour before the Red's game. At Jefferson Social we found a table top. The atmosphere and alcohol is fair and the service is good, but when I get two tacos that are cold something is wrong. It took 20 minutes for my and my friends tacos to arrive. His were hot, mine tasted like they'd been sitting out for 30 minutes. It took me 10 minutes to flag someone down to try and get them replaced and the guy who was bringing the food to tables seemed like he could care less. Our server came over 10 minutes after that (20 minutes after the food had arrived) and asked if she could do something. They had already charged my credit card and didn't know how to apply a refund (seriously?). They offered to remake it but the game was about to start so we left and ate the money. I'm guessing this isn't the norm here. The tacos that come out hot looked very good actually, we just got the short end of the stick on this night. Hopefully, your food will be brought to your table when it's ready, not 20 minutes after. If it does, you'll enjoy it. Don't plan on a night out here, however. Came for dinner and we stopped at a few places before going there. A hostess at another restaurant told us to go there because they had Taco Tuesday!! We went in and it's a small bar/restaurant that was busy and full. Luckily, we got a table since we wanted to eat and when you walk in it's seat yourself. The place is really loud but it's to be expected since it's ore of a bar scene. The waitress came, was a little rude but maybe it was just frustration since she could not hear anything we were saying. Just saying she could have used a little tact to not come off as rude. She was also not too helpful when it came to drinks since she was only 19...not sure how that works. So we had to just order something and hope it was good. We order an Apple beer and that was good, but we ordered a blueberry flavored beer that was garbage. It tasted awful. Then to top it off we didn't drink it but she still charged us even though we told her it tasted bad. I mean if you're gonna have a teenager working there maybe she should have offered a taste before since we bought a beer that we didn't drink since she was no help what so ever. We ordered tacos and they were pretty good. Not bad. They had flavor, but again the waitress was not a lot of help with that either. The chorizo cheese dip was awesome, the best thing. The service was so bad here that I never even got to try the food! It was loud inside, so we found open tables on the patio right away. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. Several servers walked right by us, never making eye contact or acknowledging anyone, let alone asking for a drink order or offering a menu. It was so bad, I even live tweeted. The food was amazing. I was hesitant about the Social Supreme Tacos because they have hard shells but they were delicious. The taco beef was well-seasoned, the cheddar was very fresh, and the onions gave a little kick. The Social Burger was also really good. The bun was soft but not fragile. The hamburger beef was good quality. Even the Chips & Guacamole were really good. The food was delivered about 30 minutes after we ordered. It was worth the wait but could've been faster. What can I say...great food, great beer, and an amazing team! The food choices are definitely different than anywhere else. I first had the mozzarella sticks, these were definitely not what I was thinking. These were wrapped with wonton wrappers and they were amazing. Just gave a mozzarella stick a whole new flavor!! Next I had the famous Taconey. Now this used to be a secret item when they first opened. It was a specialty that was only available when they had the ingredients and when the one person who knew how to make it was there. So glad it made the menu because it's true Cincinnati. A short rib taco with a hot dog and a piece of coney flavor makes this one of my favorite tacos ever. I make sure I make everyone who's new to Jefferson Social try one. If you haven't, do it!
