Chicken was ready!
William B.

This is one of the best BBQ lunch plates I've had in a good while. Upon arrival, the customer service was so friendly and very helpful. We placed our order (chicken and Rib plate) and it was so delicious to where the meat was so tender and juicy. We took a bite of the chicken and you can smell the Mesquite (BBQ) flavor and it melt in your mouth and the ribs were the same as well. Overall, it's worth the drive and we now found a new BBQ spot near Alabama A&M and we will be back.

Brisket plate: Mac n cheese, collard greens, and a roll
Dee R.

My first time here- was recommended by an acquaintance who raved over the place I think it's only been open a couple months I ordered mine to go Good enough for me to recommend you try yourself, but I'm not ranting I wanted 1/2 chicken for $10, but they were sold out, so ended up w brisket for $12 (I'm still hungry) I know a serving is 4oz. But thats not enough for a side if u ask me Brisket was tender enough and tasty. Has a side red/vinegar base sauce that's decent. Plus I think they marinate the brisket in it, so it's seasoned all the way thru and u really don't need the extra sauce. Greens were supposed to be seasoned w turkey, all I tasted was vinegar. Not horrible, but I prob won't order again. Mac n cheese pretty good: Baked, not stove top, and w more than one type cheese Sweet tea -sweet tea, not overly sweet but still good. May/may not order again The menu shows a potato w meat for $6.50. I def will try that next time: cheapest meat potato in Hsv I believe. Saw one customer eating one and seemed decent size 3veggies $8. That too is probably slightly cheaper than other places Looking fwd to trying the half chicken Def recommend you see for yourself. Support a local family I didn't wait more than 10min for my food w 2 people ahead of me

Jell's is hands down the best BBQ in Alabama. No BBQ place can touch this, not even Dreamland!

It was very busy for a Thursday and opens at 4:30 for dinner. It's in the Lincoln Mill and entrance is right next to a coffee place, but right up front & easy to find. We ordered the brisket fritters (4 panko crispy balls of chopped brisket mixed with chihuahua cheese blend, topped with Japanese white sauce) & the crispy Brussel sprouts (tossed in hot honey, yuzu & tamari glaze). There were enough brussel sprouts that they could easily be a side for everyone at our table. Both were cooked perfectly & flavors amazing!! For our entrees, our daughter ordered the tempura crab sandwich, my husband the bulgogi cheesesteak, our granddaughter the chicken fingers & Mac & cheese, myself & son-in-law, the brisket burnt ends and the beef tallow fries & the creamy Ginger Serrano coleslaw. We all enjoyed our meals & will definitely be back!! Wanted to order dessert, but we were all too full!! Highly recommend the brisket burnt ends!! Our server was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu & very attentive. Really enjoyed everything about this place!!

We arrived around 12:16 p.m. on Juneteenth and waited only about five minutes for a table of three. Once seated, Ethan provided exceptional service from start to finish. He was friendly, knowledgeable, offered thoughtful recommendations, and took the time to answer our questions about the menu. We kicked things off with the Texas Twinkies, served with white queso, queso fresco, serrano peppers, and cilantro. They were a flavorful way to begin the meal and set the tone for what was to come. I ordered the Smoked & Grilled Pork Chops with Beef Tallow Fries and Dr. Up Bushes Baked Beans. The pork chops were thick, juicy, and generously portioned. The fries arrived piping hot with an excellent crispy texture, while the baked beans were my favorite side of the meal. The portions were substantial enough that I took one pork chop home for later. My wife chose the Smoked Beef Burnt Ends with signature upgrades of Elote Crème Corn and Sweet Potato Fries. She loved the burnt ends and commented that the only thing that could have made them better was a little more bulgogi glaze. Both upgraded sides were excellent, especially the perfectly cooked sweet potato fries. Bethany went with the Bulgogi Cheesesteak and upgraded to the Truffle Fries, which were loaded with black truffle Parmesan seasoning, truffle aioli, and white queso. The fries were rich and indulgent, and paired well with the generous cheesesteak. Like the rest of us, she ended up taking home leftovers. The portions here are impressive, the menu is refreshingly creative without losing sight of great barbecue fundamentals, and the service elevated the entire experience. If you're visiting, don't skip the Texas Twinkies, and be prepared to leave with a to-go box.

One slice of cake was $7.00 beside the fact it was not cooked all the way. It was the cake slice you get from home. Not a $7.00 dollar slice. And it Was very undesirable for Red Velvet. 3. The chicken was cooked in burned grease and had no flavor. See pictures. 4. The Mac-n-cheese had no flavor nor did it resemble anything from a soul food kitchen. 5. It ended up being closer to 40 minutes before I received my food. The wait itself wasn't unreasonable given the circumstances, but the estimate wasn't very accurate. I ordered the 3-piece catfish plate with 4-cheese macaroni and fried corn, which also came with a roll. The macaroni was the star of the show. It was flavorful and well-seasoned, not just cheesy. The fried corn was also very good. The catfish was piping hot and tasted good, but it appeared to have been cooked in older grease, as evident by its color, taste and overall presentation. Considering the price point, I would have appreciated a more appealing presentation. Overall, the food was good. My plate came to about $28, so I expected a little more attention to detail. That said, I'd be willing to visit again, just in moderation (price). The restaurant also has an indoor bar, which I didn't try during this visit. There were plenty of seating options available, including bar seating, high-top tables, booths, standard tables, and even a couple of loveseats. Parking is available in a shared lot with neighboring businesses.

As far as waiting we waited about 30 plus minutes for our food, so I assume it was made fresh to order. They had the games going and good music playing while you waited for your food. I feel like it's definitely a nice vibe if you wanted to go to a bar for good food and a drink. Despite the price and the experience itself i would return for the food. I definitely recommend the food!

We were greeted promptly but didn't see our server again - I'm sure she thought that we were going to order from the QR code which was a very reasonable assumption, except the QR code didn't work - only part of the menu was available We finally tracked her down and placed our order. While we waited (and waited) for our food, my husband poured his beer from the wall while I waited (and waited) for my soda. I finally went to the bar to get my own drink. Coke Zero is kept in the back so the bartender had to leave the bar and walk to the kitchen to get my drink. Asking for a refill was wasting breath - I asked for one but never received it. We waited (and waited) for our food. A server tried to give us someone else's chicken tenders but gave up after the second try. We were able to track down our server to check on our food. About 5 minutes later, we finally received our apps - mac & cheese bites (husband liked, I didn't) and fried pickles (I kind of liked, husband did not). I usually really like fried pickles but these were undercooked and not hot. Even if I had wanted them redone, our server was once again AWOL. Our sandwiches came right after we received our apps. I failed to read my previous review. I reordered the Turkey Gouda which I didn't like first time around. This time it was toasted perfectly. The problem? It was literally dripping with the cranberry aioli. This spread was only aioli in name. There was absolutely no creaminess, it was just jelly. Way way way too much jelly. I tried to scrape it off but since it was on both sides of the sandwich, removal was nearly impossible. This sandwich is definitely on my "never order again" list. (But then, I don't plan on coming back). I ordered onion rings as a side. I was served a couple of onion rings that were good but the rest of the onion rings were not rings, they were clumps of rings welded together. I did send these back. The replacements were so undercooked that the onions were nearly raw. My husband ordered the Burger. He did enjoy his burger but agreed that the poor service and overall quality that two visits were two too many.
