Boba Tea is one of my favorite drinks so my daughter and I treated ourselves to some Coffee Boba at Jelly Ball. The prices were very reasonable and the drinks were made pretty quickly. The lady making the drinks even asked if we wanted a small slit in the lid to help assist with adding the straw and I thought that was very helpful! I love how bright and decorated their shop is as well! The drinks were wonderful and the coffee was delicious. It wasn't overly sweet and tasted as if it were freshly brewed. The boba/tapioca pearls were also very good. I love the chewy texture and it paired so well with the coffee! To start the service is very bad... no emotion at all. I asked for a cantaloupe smoothie and I understand using real fruit but wow... you can literally smell the rancid in fruit.. they made a rancid cantaloupe smoothie that was absolutely horrible. I have been going to Jelly Ball for over 20 years. I remember when they first opened upstairs in the food court. It was awesome then and even better now because now they are right up front. Thank goodness for YELP because I try to read and ask people what flavors they like and I put that on my list for next time. So I suggest JUMPING in with both feet and get a couple of drinks. You will not be disappointed. Strawberry Daiquiri-This one is listed under specialty drinks. Perfect for summer. Taste exactly like a Strawberry Daiquiri and great to take to the beach. Pearl drinks. I have had Mango, Peach, Papaya, Watermelon and Pineapple. All sweet, cold and tasty. Just remember you can't go wrong with a flavor you love. My next flavor is going to be dragon fruit. Jelly ball has been around lynnhaven Mall since the beginning. They have a nice little spot across from the food court, and hand you a buzzer to tell you your drink is ready. My only problem with Jelly ball is that the smoothies are a little icy. Let me counteract that complaint by saying that the milkshakes, which can be just as juicy as a smoothie will blow you away. The peach and mango milkshakes are our go-to with either mango pops or pineapple jelly. It's a hidden gem and a lovely little drink that will make walking around the little mall much more energizing and your outing more sweet. read more

This little boba kiosk is located at lynnhaven mall which I wish I could make it to more often. They had such a wide variety of not only milk teas but milkshakes and smoothies too. Instead of placing my drink in a new sealed cup with the pearls added, they made a giant hole at the top of my drink, added the pearls and returned it to me unsealed. Jelly Ball is one of the OG boba spots in the area! They've been around since Lynnhaven Mall had an upstairs food court. Now, their location is near T-Mobile, a big kiosk where the carousel used to be. My personal favorites are the Cantaloupe pearl (boba) drink, and sometimes I'll get the smoothie version and add boba too. They have pearl drinks, smoothies, milk shakes, teas, and you can add boba to all drinks if you choose. There's a small extra charge but worth it. They have tons of flavors, definitely too many to list. See pics of menu. My mom LOVES their halo-halo (says it's the best in the area, so many fixins'! Prices are very fair. They also have a location on Virginia Beach Blvd, and a location in the (hopefully) soon-to-be-open SK8 House (family entertainment center,) just down the street from this Lynnhaven mall location. Customer service is always the number one thing I look to in place other than the quality of the product. Every single time my mom and I have gone here and have encountered the woman behind the counter, we have ALWAYS commented on how rude she was. They are really stingy with discounts & their punch cards (you can either have a military discount OR a stamp on you canard ... what?) and she has even charged my mom for extra boba when she didn't ask for it (ALWAYS ask for your receipt !!) Most of their drinks are powdered based or really sweet. But I do like their boba, though, and how I have never gotten it wrong (too hard or too soft). Anyone who has been to Japan and knows what Georgia coffee is, this is the only location that I know of that sells it. Once you get to know the little ole lady that owns the business, there's always smiles and small chit chat during every visit. This has to be the best bubble drink place. Not only is it easy to find its at the mall. I'd like to say that walking here is a breeze it's in the mall where it's cool and shaded and tables where you can enjoy yourself and a drink. I ordered the taro milkshake and it's so bomb the flavor is great or the person who's blending it does an amazing job usually when you get drinks it can be to watery or still have ice chips in it which defeats the purpose of it. The business has stayed rolling out drinks for 14 years, and now they have expanded with a new Jelly Ball shop off Virginia Beach Boulevard! They are slowly growing a chain as boba tea becomes a popular trend, and I'm So Excited to see them grow! They should stay forever!!!! I haven't had jelly ball is OVER 20 years, boba was never my thing until a few years ago. I had a nova craving while shopping at Lynnhaven mall but didn't want to make the trek to boba chef which is my normal go to place. Their stand is cute and clean, they were busy but not too bad. Placing my order was super simple/fast, the associates moved like a well oiled machine, there was no sense of that "we're swamped" panic in the air even though the line was piling up quickly. I was given a pager and waited less than 10 minutes for 2 drinks. I ordered a taro and brown sugar milk tea. I've been wanting to try brown sugar but didn't want to be caught off guard so my partner was prepared to take it if that were the case. Honestly both were great, they were sweeter than boba chef but less sweet than kung fu tea which was just fine. the pearls were fresh and they didn't skimp, the flavor was really good. This place gives me anxiety. I tend to go on weeknights because the mall isn't as busy, but this is shooting myself in the foot because that means the elder gentleman is manning the register. He means well, and he seems like an alright person, but he has misheard my order 3 times now. I have even raised the volume of my voice because maybe he just can't hear? I always get black milk tea with lychee jelly instead of bubbles/tapioca pearls. He made the same mistake twice by using pearls & not even having my lychee jelly in there. His worst mistake was giving me a taro slush with pearls: 1) I am a broken Filipino in the way that I hatee purple yam, 2) I hate blended drinks from smoothies to frappes, & 3) I dislike boba. "Why don't you ask them to remake it?" you might ask. There's a not-so-friendly sign that says they will not remake your drink because you (the customer) ordered it wrong. Much wow. Customer... wrong? I wish this was the policy when I was a Starbucks barista, lmao. So this is the only bubble tea place that makes their iced black milk teas wonderfully... but I rarely get to enjoy the correct order. Being Asian, and growing up in Southern California where good Boba places abound, you really can't expect much when moving to Virginia Beach looking for Boba. That being said, I had no expectations, and only could find a few places to my surprise and relief. Out of all the places I've been to for Boba (Or Bubble Tea whatever people not from SoCal call it), Jelly Ball is the place I return to over and over again. Heck, the Chinese lady behind the counter always cracks the same grin every time she sees me rolling my baby stroller over from the elevator. It's getting a little embarrassing how often I come...but that's beside the point. Jelly Ball gets 4 stars from me because the Boba has been consistently soft, sweet, and chewy (with an occasional encounter of one hard Boba piece...but I don't mind, the drink gives me a little piece of SoCal...ahhhhh). Of course this place doesn't compare to Boba places where I'm from (Jelly Ball would get like 2 stars unfortunately), but still pretty good for VA Beach. The milk tea that I always get has always been consistent. It actually has some trace of TEA flavor...wow. Unlike other places I've been to, which were just sugar milk to me. Definitely not the best boba around. The general consensus seems to be in favor of the smoothies since they are made with real fruit. However, if you just want a regular iced pearl drink the flavor taste artificial because of the powder flavoring they use. This also goes for the Thai tea which was a big let down because it was made with Thai powder and not brewed Thai tea. So overall it is not the best quality flavor if you want just a regular pearl drink. I haven't tried their smoothies yet but that seems to be the way to go if you visit this establishment! read more
