This classic hometown diner delivers that cozy, down-home vibe with friendly service, a clean and welcoming interior, and a menu packed with hearty American comfort classics--all-day breakfast included. I went straight for the Country Sausage Omelette, a generous creation made with three fresh farm eggs, stuffed with savory country sausage, hash browns, and smothered in rich sausage gravy. It was everything I crave in a breakfast plate--scrambled eggs, breakfast meat, potatoes, and that creamy gravy--all conveniently wrapped up in one neat, delicious package. The flavors were spot-on: hearty, comforting, and perfectly seasoned with a generous sprinkle of black pepper on top. For an extra touch of sweetness, I paired it with raisin toast slathered in their homemade strawberry jam--tangy, bright, and just the right contrast to the savory omelette. No breakfast feels complete without my go-to drink: a tall glass of chocolate milk. This one stood out--it had that rich, old-school taste of real chocolate syrup mixed into fresh milk, far more flavorful than the standard pre-made versions you often get. Pure indulgence in a glass. The service was warm and attentive, even during what seemed like a busy post-church rush. The place is spotless, with plenty of seating in a somewhat bustling layout (think classic diner charm with 4-top tables). One note: larger groups might need to split across tables with an aisle in between, as seating isn't always easy to configure for big parties. Payment happens right at the table, which keeps things straightforward. One small observation about the menu--while there are plenty of creative omelette options and specials (like ham and eggs or corned beef hash), classic combinations like eggs with bacon or sausage links alongside potatoes don't appear as standalone items the way they do at some places. That said, the Country Sausage Omelette more than made up for it by hitting all those familiar notes in one satisfying dish. Overall, the Halfway Diner is a solid, feel-good spot for a reliable, no-fuss breakfast. Nothing halfway about the portions or the quality--definitely worth the drive if you're in the Rockford-Greenville area looking for authentic diner fare. I'll be back!

It was bottomless coffee's and our cups were never empty. The food was such a good price for the portions, and so tasty. Everything we had I would recommend. We got the chorizo - 10/10. He surprised me by bringing me there for my birthday, hoping it would be a great experience. There were definitely some positives to the evening. Our server was genuinely kind and attentive, and the cocktails were enjoyable. The presentation of the food was also nice. To drink, I got the pornstar martini which came with a side car prosecco and he had the espresso martini. My partner had noted in the reservation that it was my birthday and it wasn't acknowledged during our visit which disappointed him but we understand that these things can sometimes be missed. The food, unfortunately, was mixed and didn't quite meet expectations for the price point. We started with the breaded mozzarella, which looked beautiful and had a nice cheese pull, but the flavor was very mild and needed salt which was an easy enough fix but still a bit disappointing. My partner enjoyed his chicken piccata. I ordered the steak frites, and while I don't mind a little pink, the steak was very uneven in thickness, which led to inconsistent cooking. One portion was noticeably very rare while another was cooked to the well-done level I requested. The steak was also quite tough, which made the dish difficult to enjoy overall. While I truly appreciated the service and drinks, the food quality was inconsistent, and after giving it a sincere second chance, I don't feel inclined to return.

The place is cute and colorful, the kind that feels like a hug on a sunny but still very cold Michigan day. Bright, inviting, and clearly a local favorite. Service was friendly, even though they seemed a bit shorthanded. You could tell they were hustling, doing their best to keep everything moving without losing their smiles. I ordered the goat cheese croissant, and honestly... no regrets. It was warm, gooey, perfectly cheesy, with just enough crunch to remind you it is still a croissant and not a life-changing event. (Okay, maybe a small life-changing event.) Paired it with a classic spicy Bloody Mary, because balance. The rest of the table went for waffles and a classic BLT, and there were zero complaints. Just quiet, happy eating, which is usually the best review. Overall, it's a solid spot for breakfast or brunch. Fresh, flavorful, and comforting without trying too hard. The kind of place you'd come back to without needing to debate it.

Lofted above is a great looking outdoors complete with heat lamps and a mini A framed covered area that can be rented for parties. We were greeted warmly by friendly staff and given a kids menu, draft and spirits menu, regular menu and restaurant week menu. Menus galore! We went with the 3 course meal (many items can be ordered on the regular menu) for $25. I ordered the tomato paprika soup and my husband got the split pea soup. Of the two, the split pea soup was the clear winner. Two kinds of pork (cubed and shredded), well balanced seasoning and texture married well to enhance a soup I've loved since childhood. I could've easily eaten a bowl for my meal. The accompanying homemade Dutch Rye Bread, though I'm sure it's authentic, I didn't care for. It was dense, soft and had an off putting flavor. The second course we had was equally delicious. My hubby had the beef and pork sausage overtop a bed of mashed potatoes with kale, onions and bacon. I loved the addition of kale and the sausage was tasty. Everything was well seasoned. My beef slow cooked with apples and beer was delicious. I wish it had been served with more beef. It would have been nice to have some bigger chunks of meat to dive into. The mashed potatoes they came with were good, but the potatoes with kale were the star between the two dishes. The kid's meals were also good. The hamburger had a nice smokey flavor with a tasty side of fries. My daughter didn't care for her Mac 'n cheese, but that's because it was too refined for her palette. The Gouda cheese was complimented by the egg noodles. The third course was dessert. I tried the restaurant Flip custard: Dutch custard, fruit compote, and topped with a dollop of Greek Yogurt. It came with a cute spoon that gave the perfect portions and the flavors all complemented each other well. I would order this again and again. It was a great balance of tangy, fruity and sweet. My husband had the stroopwafle icecream. It was also good, and came with a cute mini stroopwafle. I washed all this down with their Bier Distillery Lager and tried a flavored banket spirit. This restaurant originally was just a beer and specialty liquor spot. I love that they now serve food, because that was the highlight of our evening. I wish this establishment was closer to our home, but perhaps will come back when the weather is nicer to enjoy the outdoor patio. Definitely come and check out this The Bier Distillery for yummy Dutch inspired food and drink! Worth the drive.
