I did struggle on this visit because I felt that the food festival could have been better. I stress that I love this place and enjoyed the music. I often buy nuts, candy or fudge there. They have a section in back where they sell cool stuff. I especially love going near Christmas. If you haven't been, give it a try. Good for kids too. Don't forget about the pumpkin patch in October

It is located in Valley Center, so be prepared for your trek. I always go with plenty of snacks, food and water. Having celiac means the food tents will not have options for any food restrictions, but maybe if you're lucky you can get a lemonade for $13 or something. Be prepared to shell out exorbitant amounts for any purchases. The pumpkin patch is a great place to get fall pictures, but the prices are wild. The rides are about $5 each for a minute or two. The bounce obstacle course was $5 for three times running through. It was unreasonable. The gift shop sold the cheapest temu crappy toys for $20!! Buy you're own toys at Walmart and bring them with you to keep the kids happy. I can buy junk on my own. The nuts and candy and dried fruits are probably the only thing I am ok with buying. It's about the price of Sprouts or Whole Foods. I'll usually buy my kiddo a treat and steer him away from the insanity of the price tags of the crappy toys and we're good to go. I buy my pumpkins at target though.

They carry such a nice mix of unique specialty items along with everyday groceries, which is something we have always appreciated. That said, prices have become very high compared to nearby options. I recently compared produce prices with Trader Joe's next door, and Trader Joe's was significantly less expensive. More importantly, the last several times I have shopped in Major Market's produce section, I noticed multiple bagged salads, bagged vegetables, and even some refrigerated salad dressings that were well past their expiration dates. We have also purchased their fresh garlic croutons from the front of the store for many, many years. Recently, though, the crouton pieces were cut very long rather than into normal bite-sized pieces. These were not crostinis; they were the actual croutons. The pieces were awkward to eat and, in my opinion, could even be a choking hazard because they are not cut into manageable bite-sized pieces. I'm not sure what is going on, but shoppers should be very careful and check expiration dates closely before purchasing items from the produce/refrigerated section. I also hope the crouton issue is addressed, because Major Market has been a beloved store for our family for many years.

I bought a slice of lemon tart, a Tuxedo cake, a Mocha cake and a Cheesecake. The best one was the cheesecake, then it was a tie between the Mocha and lemon tart. The Tuxedo one was OK. I've gone here multiple times and have ordered the chili oil dumpling, beef and scallion steamed dumpling and the chicken broth dumplings. Full of flavor every time! Service is always quick and workers there are so nice! Love the vibe of the place as well, simple, aesthetically pleasing and spacious. Can't wait to come back again!

After a dumpling spot in Encinitas quit serving some of the items that I enjoyed, we gave it one more shot here because, well you know when you are in the mood for Dumplings.. N more? you are in the mood. The next time was so much better, they must have put handcuffs on whoever controlled the saltshaker before. We have now been here quite a few times and always have a good experience with the food. Is it upscale here? No, is it clean? also probably no lol but the food has been good and consistent. Go to here are always the garlic green beans, and egg with wood ear mushrooms. The wood ear mushrooms are served warm, and I quite like them compared to the normal way I am accustomed to having them, cold and served in a vinegar-based sauce. Normally we will rotate in another item such as the Wontons in red chili oil, which are delicious.
