This is my Dilly Girl. She had been exposed to the worst mankind has to offer. She taught me forgiveness, in a manner I can never forget.

Once called Armadillo, because when she was rescued, she looked like an armadillo. Jelly's Place called her Dillin. I called her my Dilly Girl, because she was a silly girl. She was exposed to the worst mankind has to offer. Then she came to Jelly's Place. She spun in circles and chewed on her own skin. Jelly's Place, provided many doctors for her. So, all I had to do is offer her a loving home, patients and respect. Then, she gave me cuddles, like I never have had before. I strongly recommend Jelly's Place. There is no end to the support, you will receive.

Don't let the negative reviews deter you. Jelly's place is an amazing shelter with compassionate and kind people working their hardest to take care of those animals. I had a litter of puppies that were failing to thrive and on deaths door, when I contacted the owner Julie about them she took the puppies and mom home with her without hesitation to tube feed and administer meds and fight for them to survive. She loves every animal in her care and will fight to advocate for them and what they need. Even when two of the puppies passed away, she ensured the others got the best care possible and survived. Jelly's place wants the best for all of their animals and want to find a home where they can thrive. They have many reactive and traumatized dogs from all different situations that they have to be careful about adopting out, it is only sensible they would say no if it isn't a good fit! You cannot just take a dog home without taking into account it's background and if it would be a good fit, and that seems to be the issue with a lot of these reviews. Thank you Jelly's for all that you do!

Julie, YOU took away a chance from Cheeyoo and wasted our valuable time by making us vising the shelter for more than 2 months. 1000s of dogs just like Pepe&Cheeyoo found homes. Please don't bring dogs from other countries if you don't have good understandings and mean to help them to be adopted. Julie is barely available, incompetent, disorganized, disrespectful towards others time. She agreed to let us foster these CHINA DOGS (That's what she called them, even though Cheeyoo is from Korea, lol) but only after we visit them until they develop some trust. We visited more than 2 months, weekly. After Cheeyoo made some progress, we decided to adopt her instead of fostering 2 dogs because we learned that it is so painful to communicate with these folks and don't want to deal with them next few years while we foster 2 dogs. Julie wants these dogs to be outside dogs. We told her that my yard doesn't have fence from the beggining and she was ok with it, but when we tried to adopt Cheeyoo alone, she said she doesn't feel comfortable that we don't have fenced yard. It doesn't matter how much I can walk the dog. No fenced yard = not qualified dog owners. SHE doesn't feel comfortable that they won't have their own fenced yard, and SHE doesn't feel comfortable Cheeyoo and Pepe are seperared even though a staff who actually takes care of dogs said Pepe gets along with other dogs. They are outside all time except when they go to a crate from 3:30pm to next morning. and they get to go out to a bigger play are once a week for 30 mins. Pepe and Cheeyoo are sensitive since they are resuced from meat traders, but they aren't different than other traumatized dogs who are rescued from the same situation. Julie, who has all the power IS the reason why they haven't been adopted. Her best interest is not Cheeyoo and Pepe's wellbeing at home. She wants to keep them. Please don't even bother to adopt Cheeyoo and Pepe. They are HERS.

What I felt was attitude over text

My cousin was sharing all their posts on IG and I saw they had some small dogs they got from a hoarding situation and I had been looking to adopt and give my very small dog a friend and help a dog that needed a home so I filled out an application online. I was approved and a woman called me to set up my appt for the following week and asked me which dog I was going to see. I drive an hour to them for my appt and it was increasingly obvious they didn't know who I was and no appt was even set. Krissy who greeted us was very curt and rude and seemed very irritated that we were there. I let her know we had an 11am and she asked who we were, what dog we were there to see at which time she said the dog we were there to see had an adoption hold then had us follow her outside to where the dogs were kept, changed her mind to bring us back inside to go get someone else to help us, asked us to move against the wall as a reactive dog was going to pass so we did only to then raise her voice to ask us to just sit down instead as the dog passed. Finally Michael came to help us. He was very nice, knew the dogs and said the dog we were there to see had an adoption hold but would probably be the only dog they had that would be a good fit with my small dog we brought. He was nice enough to show us a couple of dogs anyways and he was correct, they weren't a good fit but it was nice to see his interaction with the dogs and you could tell they really loved him. He did also let us meet the dog we went there for. She was a sweetheart and we would've taken her if we could have but we had to wait if her adoption hold fell through. I then asked how you put an adoption hold on a dog and he informed me that you just had to have an appointment to see the dog. At which time it was blatantly obvious the woman that called me never made the appointment as I had an appt to see her at 11. That really upset me. As we were leaving the owner, Julie asked us if we had seen anything we were interested in and we said no, the one we were there for was on adoption hold and the other two we saw weren't a fit for our dog. She was very nice and made some recommendations for a mama dog and one of her small puppies she thought would be a fit and brought us back inside to Krissy to ask Krissy to make an appt for the following week to meet the dogs she recommended. Krissy was nice in front of Julie but as soon as Julie left she was extremely rude again telling us with an attitude that they have 12 approved applications for the puppies and only 5 puppies giving us an attitude. I told her I was just going by Julie's recommendation and she told me she would text me by the end of the day to make an appt to see the puppies. I said we were also interested in meeting the mom as Julie recommended and we weren't adamant about a puppy, mom would be of interest as well but to also let us know if the adoption of the dog we went to see that day fell through. She text a couple hours after that the dog was adopted and to make an appt for the following week and the attitude came through over text as well. She said we could come Friday at 4 but it would be the last appt for the day so I replied that I could do earlier as I was off and didn't need to come so late so I wouldn't be the last appt of the day and got more attitude. I'm hoping this was an off day for her but honestly she shouldn't be customer facing based on my experience that day. It continued to bother me with my interaction with Krissy both in person and over text and the fact the dogs are kept outside in cages in the elements with tarps over them so I decided to cancel and look elsewhere. It would have been 1 star had it not been for Michael and Julie!

About two or three weeks ago, they scheduled me for an initial assessment, where they would assess my dog and figure out the best place to put him. I told them my dog is very vocal but that is normal for his breed (hes a husky). The assessment went great, my dog did very well, and he stayed there for half a day. Additionally, I was told to get him the canine influenza vaccine, which I did. The week after, I scheduled him for doggy daycare to get him used to it. The visit went well. They told me that my dog did great. He was vocal at the beginning, but he settled in. I said great. Nothing else was said to the contrary. The week of my vacation, I check the portal. It said my dog was still on the boarding waitlist. I called to confirm that he would be boarded and checked to see if they saw his updated vaccine record. They placed me on hold for a while until the man who did the initial assessment came on. He informed me, much to my surprise, that since my dog is still anxious (he barks, which is his normal), they would not be able to board him until he has a few more visits. I am very disappointed at Metro Dog. I feel like my time and money were utterly wasted. I followed their protocol and got my dog used to this place, and they declined my boarding request at the last minute. I now have to scramble and see if I can find another boarder for vacation. I am also very disappointed at the lack of communication. If I had not called them to check, I would not have known that he was declined. I received no indication that he would not be able to board by Metro Dog. I wanted to love this place but I am so good on Metro Dog. I hope this review can help others and push this place to be more communicative, honest, and upfront with fellow clients and their fur babies.

My dog isn't crazy about other dogs. Doesn't want to play. Afraid of, and aggressive towards bigger dogs. At 12 pounds ,that's pretty much all dogs. Dom and Huey came over to meet him and assess how he would fit in. They were certain they could easily integrate him into their pack. They definitely made an effort to ensure he felt comfortable with them and with the other dogs. Fast forward a couple of years and my dog is calmer and much more at ease with dogs in general. My dog loves Dom and Huey. He's always so happy to see Dom when she comes to the door to get him. He always comes back from his walk happy and exhausted. The types of walk vary between leashed and off-leash and they have an arrangement so they have a dog park all to themselves a couple of times/week. This makes me really happy because of my dog's history of unpredictability around dogs he doesn't know. Communication with them is professional, easy, quick and clear. Whenever I have a question or need to check their schedule, I hear back from them right away. I board my dog with them when I travel and they keep me posted on how he's doing (including texting me photos). I love that I can check their Facebook page to see what the dogs are up to during the day. And when I expressed some concern about the increase in my dog barking at other dogs on the street, they said they noticed it too and talked to me about how we could address the behavior together. I really couldn't be happier with them, and neither could my dog.

In situations where our travel plans have delayed us in picking her up, they have always been incredibly kind and understanding. We started adding walks to her long stays so she gets some individual outside time in addition to all day inside playtime. I have nothing but good things to report about the Barkmont and they make being a dog owner in the Bay so much easier. I also think they are just really good people, I heard they now partner with local pet rescues to give their foster dogs some socialization and love. Makes us feel good supporting them. Over time, we appreciated how clean the environment was, the spacious accommodations for extended travel, and receiving regular photo updates of our cat while we were away. However, an experience this past holiday season revealed a fundamental issue with holiday staffing and animal care that we simply cannot overlook. After returning home early from vacation, we contacted the owner in the early afternoon to ask about picking up our cat. Following some back-and-forth, she begrudgingly agreed--only to reveal that no one was actually working. She had to call an off-duty employee to see if they could drive over and meet us at the building. This interaction made it alarmingly clear that no staff was scheduled for the second half of the day, and it left us with serious doubts as to whether anyone had been onsite at all that morning. While we understand it was a holiday, clients pay a full daily rate with the expectation of continuous monitoring, timely medication, and basic care. Knowing the building was left unstaffed on a holiday is deeply concerning from a safety and welfare standpoint. As much as we enjoyed the facility's space and cleanliness, we cannot justify paying boarding fees for an unstaffed facility. Because of this, we can no longer recommend them and will not be returning. We strongly advise other pet parents to ask explicit questions about holiday staffing before booking, especially if your cat has any special needs or is in need of daily visits and TLC and as our cat most certainly is while he's being boarded.
