Relaxing? I think not... Let's start at making an appointment... the representative was super polite and patient.... So this has nothing to do with her, so after making my appointment, I was read a long disclaimer about their cancellation policy and was asked to put my credit card on file, just incase I cancel or change my appointment, I'll be charged the total price of the service.. the rep even said, " I know it's a lot right... I decided sure why not, let's do this... within a few minutes I received a phone call that there was a conflict... I called back and was told it was settled, my appointment remains at the same time.. Spa day is finally here... my appointment was set for 2.. I received a phone call at 1:30 that they were pushing my appointment back 2:15... sure no problem... than at 1:45, was called and said come at 2 or 2:15.. I said I'll come at 2:15, sure no problem.. I arrived at 2:10.. I signed in and was greeted by the front desk clerk.. the massage therapist waited for me at the door.. never spoke a word.. Hi? Hello? Nothing.. Inside the spa is nice, however, in the back is super dark and not relaxing at all.. I felt uneasy in the room and the energy was definitely off.. but I told myself, I came for a massage, let's do it.. Not once did the massage therapist, ask me how much pressure I wanted, any areas of concern ... nope.. nada.. The massage was ok... nothing spectacular... nothing to brag about.. The massage I made an appointment for was for a 60min massage... I arrived at 2:10 and left it was 2:58...... I'm confused as to what happened to the last 12 minutes went... I was punctual.. I paid for a 60 minute massage and received 48 minutes... Where do I begin... I requested a Signature facial (the basic one). The esthetician told the front desk that i had gotten a deluxe... that was not cool. During the facial, the only reason the facial lady spoke to me was ONLY to sell their products (which I can imagine they make commission from). -The lady DID NOT put vapor or hot towel on my skin to open my pores, so my pores were probably closed the whole time. -the lady DID NOT extract all of my pimples (i still have filled pores on my nose and the sides) -the lady put ALCOHOL on my skin!! If she knew better, she would know that alcohol irritates sensitive skin.. -she never asked me what type of skin i had (hence the use of alcohol) -the mask after the extraction BURNED LIKE HELL. It was horrible. -once again, she only spoke to me about buying products at the end. She did not care about how my skin felt. Never again will i go back to this place. I scheduled a massage via the telephone with a Solana, who was/is the receptionist. Me being naive pertaining to massages, Solana asked questions that then allowed me to make a decision on which massage would be suitable. She was very polite and, knowledgeable during our call, and also informed me about some of the other services outside of my Swedish massage Jencare has to offer. My massage with Esmine was absolutely amazing. She was very engaging initially making sure I was comfortable and all ready. As she began the massage, she was very considerate & cautious when it came to parts of the body that may be tender. This is a beautiful spa with a great staff. Solana is a pleasure to speak with on the phone when booking or placing an order, she's just lovely. I did the Recharge Package with the aromatherapy massage and the facial and it was an awesome 2 hours. The masseuse was a pro, she knew exactly what she was doing. Some go too hard, some are too light with their touch, but she was like Goldilocks, just right. The facility and ambiance is VERY nice, nicer than I was expecting, and the facial was on another level. Peta-Gaye did my facial and I can tell you she easily knows more about the skin than most dermatologists, without question. She's a true expert at her craft and can tell you about all the little intricacies about your own face that you've probably never known or noticed. This is not your typical facial where someone rubs a few products on your face for 20 minutes, Peta-Gaye spends a solid hour doing an intense treatment with multiple tools and products made in-house (Peta-Gaye is also a chemist), in a finely detailed process developed from science. But, minus the pain of some of your needed extractions, the facial is a very pleasant experience. Highly recommend. I also order products from their website which my family and I love. read more

I was so excited to go to the spa this day but as soon as I stepped through the front doors and said hello, it was downhill from there. Talk about an unenthusiastic greeting! My husband and I walked in and when I was greeted I turned to kiss him goodbye and whispered...uh oh. I was taken to a waiting room after I signed in. The place was lifeless and a bit gloomy, I wanted to hurry up and get out of that room. I was so unimpressed. When I entered the spa room I was devastated to see all the junk piled up in the room around the table where I was to lay. It was as if the room was also being used as a storage facility. And I had to ask for a robe / towel so that I could undress because none was offered to me. The facial was a nightmare. She was rough, tough, very hard on my face. I've had tons of facials and in no way have I ever experienced such discomfort. For those of you who know what the extraction part of a facial feels like you understand there will be some discomfort. Well, what I experienced was just plain ole pain. She used a "vacuum like" kind of device for the extraction which I've had used on me before but still, it never hurt so bad. I just wanted it to end. It wasn't just the extraction part that caused discomfort it was the overall way she handled my face. I found out about them through a circular that offered a coupon which I was happy to find. When I told them about the coupon they said, it was noted on the coupon in fine print that the discount wouldn't begin until tomorrow. Shame on me for missing that. I ended up paying full price for the service...tisk, tisk. I was hoping for the best for them and wished I had a better review to write. I was going to leave a good review until my big toe started to show symptoms of infection after 1 wk of appt. I initially thought my nail was growing inwards. But I should've suspected something by the way the nail tech was digging into my skin. I didn't see any or feel my skin break so I just prayed for the best. Worst wax ever!!! Unsanitary, ill equipped, Most painful, bad customer service. I went here for a wax after recently moving to S FL. This is the MOST UNSANITARY waxing method I've ever experienced. They use some type of roll on tube to apply the wax. This same roll on tube is used on EVERY person! How gross! That was the first strike. Then women I went to, Nicole, I believe her name was. Have you ever had wax applied to your skin that wasn't hot?? The most painful thing ever. Worse than yanking waxing strips from your skin. After I alerted Nicole that this pain was not normal she realized the wax must not be hot and there machine must be broken b/c the wax was not warming up. I ultimately ended the wax session without even allowing her to finish it was that horrible. I then got to the reception who asked how was it and I explained it was horrible and why so. She then turned and prompted me to pay the full price. No consolation for the fact that they're machine wasn't working and I didn't receive a full wax. My first and last time. Jencare Miramar is a great treat after the holidays. I went a couple of days after Christmas 2014. The staff was friendly and the spa itself was a pleasant place and the treatment rooms were tranquil. They were playing smooth R&B in the relaxation room which was calming (but also funky at the same time). I received my first ever Deep Tissue massage. For those who like deep and intense massages that really stretch and probe your muscles then this is the one for you. They have a wide array of skin care products and also do free skin consultations. Sooooo yeah.... I tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt based on the reviews I read on here but unfortunately, I was very disappointed with my gel manicure here. A dear of friend of mine swore up and down that the place was great and being that her and I share the same level of taste, I figured I'd go with her advice rather than 3 strangers on Yelp (no offense). First off, I was late for my 3:30 appt by 10 minutes. I did call them to let them know that I was on the way. Walking into the salon, it's very beautiful. You can tell they put money into the place. The product display area, the wall decor, everything reminded me of a spa so that's a plus. I sign in and was told my person will be with me shortly. I was escorted into the hair and nail area and was told to have a seat. The young lady who would be doing my nails was standing about 6 feet in front of me and told me she'd be with me shortly. She comes over and plops down into the chair, "Hi, I'm Nicole." I felt as though I was bothering her. She asked me what color I'd be using. I asked where were they. She started pulling them out from the corner of the table. I was wondering why they didn't have them on display. She pulled out about 8 colors but they were so much more that I saw. Maybe she didn't want to pull them all out??? Idk... Picked my color and we started with the manicure. She used no water and cut my cuticles dry. This was a little painful and not relaxing in any way. When I asked why she wasn't using water, she said because water expands the cuticles. Wouldn't that make it easier to cut them? During my painful manicure, a discussion about black cake came up (it's a traditional Caribbean cake usually made for weddings). I guess one of the ladies makes them and brought some in. The other spa guest wanted to try it or my nail tech wanted her to try it so that she can form her own opinion about the cake. Either which way, my nail tech excused herself from MY PAYING manicure to get a piece of the cake to give to the other guest. This had me absolutely FLOORED! Who stops a treatment with a paying guest to do something like that??? Then what annoyed me the most was her lack of conversation. She was intent on humming "What A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong over and over and over again! I was so close to telling her to shut it but I didn't wan to further affect my crappy manicure. I won't give any additional details! It was just all around bad service. I was going to provide the feedback to the receptionist during checkout but the nail tech sat there while I was checking out so I felt uncomfortable giving the feedback with her sitting right there. I still tipped her $5 for the service. All in all, this place is too overpriced to be lacking in customer service and people skills! I was a manager at a spa and I could never have had any of my techs behave that way to guests. I love my island people (the place is owned by Jamaicans) but you have step it up a million notches. I was born and raised in the Caribbean so I'm used to lacking customer service but this was unacceptable, especially at the prices they're charging. They're lacking in so many areas but they need to start working on customer service and employee appearance. I wish them all the best but they're never seeing me or my pocketbook again! I pray they take this as constructive criticism and not start cussing me and my "mudda" after they read it! read more

First off, I am shocked at the bad reviews. I normally don't write reviews but, as I am always using the reviews of others to make a decision when spending my money, I figured I would commence giving my 2 cents with one of my favorite places. This place is amazing! I have tried 3 of their locations (Jamaica, NY and Miramar) and the experience has been the same across the board. The girls are always super friendly and the services are always meticulous. Mani/Pedi's are divine. If you want a good lasting Mani/Pedi this is the place to get it. I have also had my hair done (relaxer and wash) and I was very pleased. Like many women, I am very picky and I will be the first to complain that she missed the corner of my nail bed with the polish, or this nail is not square or she didn't rinse my hair well, or she didn't relax my hair straight enough (hate when these things happen). Yes, I am that girl. Jencare really takes pride in caring for the body from head to toe. This is why whenever I am in any of their locations, I fret not because I know I will be fully satisfied with my services. As for products, if you're not in one of the locations just give them a call, tell them what you are looking for and they will recommend a product and ship it to you. This place is horrible!!! I made an appointment for a facial. The facial was $75 so I was excepting a high end salon with great service. I walked in at 12:53. My appointment was at 1. The lady in the front told me to sign in. I waited 15 mins. Then I asked her what is going on? She goes I am so sorry I have been so busy on the phone I am the one who needs to take you to the back. She leaves me in a room where you can't even breath. I don't even think their AC works it was so hot. Finally after another 5 minutes the lady doing my facial hands me a robe from the dollar store...then I asked her for another one....5 minutes later a slightly better robe maybe paid $2.00. First, when I came in the front desk girls were to busy having a personal conversation to acknowledge me. I started to ask questions they seemed like they didn't know much. I should have taken that As a sign to leave but I really needed a facial. The front desk girl took me to the back put on a mask on me and left me in a room with another girl that was waiting on a facial as well which was very uncomfortable. Than 45 minutes later she took me to another room where another girl came in to do the facial she was very rough, she was hurting me badly as she did extractions I had to tell her to stop several times and she replied "hush" that she needed to do what she was doing. Bottom line is this place has very poor customer service. They also sell and use very cheap products that look like they come from the dollar store.
