My favorite park in town! Beautiful grounds, beautiful estate. There are a couple different "themed" trails and areas that make this an awesome weekend trek. During the spring and summer you'll see all sorts of events here- birthdays, weddings, summer camp. I especially like the master gardener area. It's a separate fenced off section that you can go in and take a look at different gardening methods. The playground is neat too! read more

Beautiful place to roam! We've driven by the entrance so many times, and I always wondered what was behind the gate. We stopped by Sunday afternoon and parked, fairly empty lot, planning to take the longer unpaved trail and knowing virtually nothing about the estate. When we ended up back at the estate we were very pleasantly surprised. The unpaved trail was just okay, but the grounds surrounding the estate are so lovely. Little paths everywhere, sweet garden areas, a large green yard, and beautiful trees. Looked like there was a lot more to see next visit. Really a fantastic estate. Seems like a fabulous place for an event and definitely an enjoyable spot to wander on a lazy afternoon. read more

I had never visited the Jenkins Estate until this summer, while house sitting for a friend, who lives within walking distance of the Estate. Every day I walked a mile to the Estate and came to know it in detail like a new friend. I can honestly say that place brings peace to my heart in a world gone really crazy these days. I've taken numerous photos in various light settings. One photo was of a rainbow that appeared within (not over) the Tea House building--I have no idea how it happened, because I then took another photo at a different angle and the rainbow was gone . . . "It was a sign," one of the caretakers told me. I guessed it was a sign of hope for our world and that the Estate liked me too. read more

Pretty walking trails. I like that this is close by, and open to the public. They have a TON of Rhododendrons! They need a bigger maintenance staff. I noticed "manicured" beds which needed a lot of attention (weeding, pruning, deadheading). Tons of brush which can be a dangerous fire hazard. Facilities could probably use cleaning or a coat of paint in many places. They have a lot of buildings (rentable). The bright spot for me was the educational garden operated by the Master Gardeners. Lots of fun ideas, and a pretty gazebo. read more

We have been coming here for over 8 years, maybe twice a week for walking/running with my two well behaved dogs. We just love it! There's 2 parking lots, the first entrance on Grabhorn & also further up the 2nd entrance by the kids playground. Jenkins Estate has no maps, but you can just get lost by the many, well groomed trails, it just goes around in a huge circle, that eventually leads back to both of the parking lots. They have a small, medium, med-long & a long loop. Depends on how fast you walk, the long loop usually takes me a little more than an hour. I really didn't want to write this review, because I don't want anyone else to know about it. My pups have been coming here since they were 6 months old, they think it's there backyard! read more

I'm just reviewing my walk (w/our group) for the trails, natures and my experience from the outside, not what happens inside the estate. My husband remembered going here with me, many moons ago, since his best friend got married here, but I do not have a recollection of that event! I thought it was so much fun! I truly enjoyed the hikes, the flowers, the gardens, the building around the estate, a little peek inside the main house and as a visitor for the outdoors, it was closed during our visit here. Like the brochure says, it's 68 acres, and there are a whole lot more we've not covered during our hike! I take photos when I go for hikes, and most of my photos here are plants blooming white flowers this is middle of June. I do recommend it to anyone with families! If you're part of the estate and you're reading this, there are some plants that are wilting and needs lots of TLCs closer to the main building. I even saw a raggedy looking trying to survive Rhododendron, the leaves are ready to go, and it needs something not just water. Yes, May month didn't get a lot of rain this year, but it needs something! Please save it! read more

Came here for a company picnic. The grounds are gorgeous and dog-friendly. Nice grades and well-kept grounds, along with a beautiful sunny day made this an entirely good experience. At their covered area their BBQ grills are large enough to cook for 100 people which is also great. If it wasn't so far from where I live, I'd be sure to go back. read more

Overall, I had a great time. Really. It was our good friends' wedding, I was a bridesmaid, the DJ was awesome, we got to sit at the head table, everything went smoothly enough. So, why the two stars? Well, first off, the estate is an historical property. I get this. That doesn't mean it should be completely impossible to operate a light fixture, find an outlet, or lock a door properly. If you're going to host weddings, make your estate 21st century friendly. Heck, I'd settle for late 20th century friendly. Secondly, pay attention to your client. If she says 120 chairs, don't put out 90 and then make the wedding party have to schlep the extra chairs up the hill because you don't staff anyone more than 15 minutes before the ceremony starts. And lastly, the bartender was a middle-aged lady who thought it was okay to play mother hen to the entire party and pass judgment on people for having a good time. She harassed several guests verbally, disappeared from the bar for long periods of time, and started cutting people off (refusing to serve them) before they had barely gotten tipsy. She seemed to be mistaking the flush and excitement of dancing for full-on drunkenness. She eventually even cut me off, and she said that she could "see it in [my] eyes" that I had had enough. This was just twenty minutes or so before I drove myself and my husband home, utterly sober and tired from nothing but an incredibly long day. While I enjoyed the wedding thoroughly, I can go over the events in my mind and be confident that everything I enjoyed was either due to the presence of our good friends and their families, or the care and services of third-party businesses. Nothing the Jenkins Estate itself provided was very helpful, and some of it was downright insulting. read more

What a beautiful space for an event! There are many "locations" on this historical property to choose from to fit the feel of your event, and the grounds are downright magnificent. Fantastic outdoor gazebo spot for weddings or other smaller gatherings, gorgeous sprawling lawns, and a wonderful old horse barn. The barn has been updated with hardwood floors throughout and in each stall, allowing for tables to be set up inside. Eating dinner in a horse stall (or the other areas of the barn) is freaking cool. Definitely made for a memorable experience! The upstairs of the barn is the perfect size for a dance floor and/or reception space. Beware: Jenkins Estate is situated on a hill. It's quite the uphill hike from the parking areas up to the event spaces - especially when you're wearing a dress and heels, and most especially when you're wearing a dress and heels and it's really hot outside. There are places to be dropped off at the top, so take advantage if you don't want to make the trek. read more

I cannot stop talking about how amazing my experience with Jenkins was! I have very high expectations of customer service and they continued to exceed my expectations! I got married on October 18th,2014 at this breathtakingly gorgeous venue. If you are looking for a wedding venue, seriously stop looking and book your wedding here!!!! Mike is the director and he is so great! He gave me the tour and I just fell in love. He ensured that everything I envisioned about my wedding happened! Rex took over coordinating everything and he is always on top of it and so accommodating! He and mike are SOOO flexible and patient and sweet! They always listened and paid attention and made sure every detail we talked about happened. Their staff took care of literally everything- from the linens, to the setting up and taking down! We had a plated dinner of the flat iron steak and mashed potatoes and peas and it was AMAZING! The steak was seasoned to perfection and cooked perfectly. Every single guest was amazed at their dinner and SO impressed (the creme' brûlée was perfect as well)! We couldn't have had a more gorgeous wedding- from the setting to the dinner, it was all stunning! All in all, our wedding was truly a fairytale. It was classy and elegant. It couldn't have been possible without Mike, Rex, & their amazing team! They truly created the most amazing wedding & we will never forget that. The Jenkins Estate is located just a few miles from Portland, but it feels like you're in the countryside. Lots of property and old-growth trees. At the part of the estate where we were, they've transformed an old horse stable into a restaurant, which was set up as seating areas for our wedding. It was one of the coolest things we've ever seen! On the second story of the barn was a dance floor. I had an appointment here to view the property for my wedding and when I showed up neither of the two girls in the office would show me around or talk to me really. Since I don't have two heads and am not a zombie, I'm not sure what the problem was. It's beautiful, but the employees attitudes stink! We just can't talk highly enough about our experience with Jenkins Estate! When our daughter told us that she wanted to get married within a week due to a unique family situation, we started calling venues. The site coordinator, Ruthie, called us back right away and set up a time for the couple to view the beautiful grounds, charming stable, and historic home. Ruthie spent all week walking us through the process to secure the venue, the catering, and she went above and beyond to help us work within our budget. When our "small family wedding" grew to almost 100 guest in one day, she rearranged things to make it work and was so positive in the midst of our stress. She was so kind and truly caring. I finally saw the property the day before the wedding and was so thrilled that we had such a beautiful venue! The grounds are gorgeous and there are so many wonderful garden areas perfect for photos. The buildings are well kept and very charming. The staff was wonderful and worked so hard to make our guests feel comfortable. I was concerned at first about using their caterer, but Elephant Catering was delicious! We had the Oregon Wine Country Dinner and each dish was so unique and full of interesting combinations of flavors and ingredients. Our guests kept commenting on the beautiful venue and unique and delicious food. A few said that it was the best catering they have ever had. (The marionberry cakes are also great!) Ruthie usually works Mon-Fri but came in on Sat. to introduce us to the staff and make sure that everything was set up the way we wanted. She ended us staying a couple of hours, which was way above and beyond her job as event coordinator. I highly recommend this unique and beautiful venue and this wonderful staff. Beautiful park and the trails are well maintained. A little disappointed that the only restroom we saw was locked. Not sure where another one would be. Also, it would be nice if the trails had a bench from time to time to rest. That's the only fault I have from my recent experience there. I have nothing but good things to say about the Jenkins Estate. It is wonderful! The grounds are absolutely beautiful, and the stables and main house are amazing. My husband and I were lucky enough to get married there, and it was a dream wedding. We were married in the gazebo in a meadow, with our reception in the stables. The food was delicious, and the staff were so helpful. Beyond our wedding, I have attended several events at the Jenkins Estate and been pleased every time. I would highly recommend the Jenkins Estate to anyone who is looking to have a classy event at a local venue that is reasonable and unique. read more
