I've had horrible cystic breakouts all over my face for as long as I can remember, and even now in…read moremy early 30s, they still haven't subsided naturally (sidenote: WTF?) I've tried just about everything out there, short of Accutane, because I'm scared of it. I've tried topical and pill antibiotics, every over-the-counter anti-acne system, every system you order over the TV or from a family friend ... nothing made a dramatic impact on my skin. A family friend who saw Steven regularly convinced my mom he was great, so she paid for my first treatment. After the first treatment, I couldn't believe the results -- every spot on my skin that was raised was flat, and my breakouts were reduced by 50% within 3 treatments (I had the first 3 close together because I was getting ready for a big event). Now it's over a year later, and I see Steven for i-derm (aka galvanic) facials every other week because of the amazing results I've gotten. The Face Loft is a gorgeous little space, impeccably decorated, and Steven is one of the warmest, kindest people I've ever spent time with. He is really one of those rare super gifted people who's better at what he does than anyone else; we're lucky he's here in Chicago. Give it a try, you'll see such great results after one treatment that you'll be hooked.

The spa is trendy, inviting and sophisticated. Steven Miller, the owner and operator, comes with knowledge and experience of skin care. He was extremely attentive and professional. I left with smoother and youthful skin than I came and even received a light massage. Hope to get back soon!

I recently signed up for a starter membership after receiving a promotional email and text message…read moreabout the March Madness offer. My facial itself was average -- the esthetician was kind and knowledgable. Unfortunately, the experience at checkout was extremely disappointing. When I asked about the promotion that prompted me to sign up, neither the associate nor the manager were familiar with it. I pulled up the promotional email and explained that it was the reason I joined the membership. The manager initially agreed to honor it, but after calling another manager she came back and said the promotion only applied to memberships purchased in-store. The issue is that this restriction is not stated anywhere in the promotional email or on the website, which I showed them. Despite that, they refused to honor the promotion. What was most frustrating was the complete lack of effort to resolve the situation. I had already scheduled my next three appointments because I was excited to become a member, but when I explained that this experience was making me reconsider my membership, I was simply handed an email address and told to cancel if I wanted to. For a brand-new customer, the lack of understanding about promotions and the dismissive response from management left a really poor first impression and I won't be back.

I previously received an IPL treatment at this office and the treatment itself was fine. During…read morethat visit, I scheduled my next appointment for 4:30 PM on a later date. On the day of my appointment, while driving there, I unfortunately got a flat tire. At 4:02 PM, I called the front desk to notify them of the situation and explained that I would call back later to reschedule because I was dealing with a tow truck and car trouble. Later that evening around 7 PM, I received a text saying that I had missed my appointment. I called again to reiterate that I didn't make it due to the flat tire and that I wanted to reschedule, but I reached voicemail and left a message. The following day, I received a text stating that I would be charged a $50 no-show fee because I did not give 24-hour notice. While I understand the purpose of cancellation policies, they should also allow for reasonable exceptions in situations that are clearly beyond a patient's control. What was most frustrating was that the office claimed there was no record of my 4:02 PM phone call, despite the fact that I provided screenshots of my call logs, photos of the flat tire, and a receipt from the tire repair shop as proof of what happened. None of this seemed to matter. As a physician myself, I understand the importance of respecting a practice's time and policies. However, I would never treat a patient this way in the face of clear, documented extenuating circumstances. This situation felt less like a misunderstanding and more like a rigid policy being enforced without any consideration for the circumstances. Experiences like this make it difficult to support a business that appears unwilling to extend basic understanding to its clients. I hoped that they would choose to make this right, but they chose to lose business instead.

I've had…read moremany massages over the last 15+ years and this was by the far the most uncomfortable massage I've ever had. It was painful, not relaxing, and while the "massage therapist" might be knowledgeable on some things, he's way too aggressive and handsy to the point of damn near assault!
