It was super easy to make an appointment through Yelp. I think Jennie responded back within a couple of minutes. Prices are affordable and they work pretty quick. I got the combo - gel manicure and pedicure and two people were working on me at the same time. Both ladies were chatting amongst themselves and I felt the lady doing my pedicure was rushing through the process. There were still polish on my skin and some of my toenails were slanted and uneven. When I got home I had to fix it cause it was bothering me too much. The lady who did my manicure took her time, but even then my nails weren't even. Now the main reason I came here was because I saw Jennie posted a lot of her work on Yelp and IG with nail designs. I was going on a 2 week trip to Japan so I thought this was the perfect place to go to for cute lasting nails. When I showed them a picture, which was just marble and gems, Jennie said they don't do nail designs. I didn't want to argue with her so I ended up picking a magnetic polish which was $5 extra. It seems like they'll do more for you if get fake nails (which is all of her Yelp and IG posts), but if you want something on your natural nails, they're not as lenient to accommodate you. I randomly found Jennie's nails on Yelp and originally wanted someone who could do gel extensions, but when I called and they said they weren't able to, I asked about thin acrylics & she said they definitely could! I completely forgot about wanting gel extensions after seeing the precision, speed & accuracy Jennie had while doing my nails. I received SO many compliments with this set, even up to literally the last day before removing them (which they also lasted over a month - amazing!!) I obviously had to come back! She takes my inspo pics and makes them a thousand times better!! For my second set (pink/purple/ flowers) Jennie suggested adding glitter to the middle of the flowers for a little sparkle, which I was already completely in love with this set but this little detail made them that much more beautiful! I even showed her a photo but what I ended up with was ALMOND. Some people may not notice the difference but there is a clear distinction - she clipped, filed, drilled etc. it was fast Yes l. Was it thorough... No - I don't even know who did my nails no one ever introduced themselves they just motion for you to wait here go there. - my nail technician seemed friendly and talked the whole time... I don't know to who maybe to the lady next to her, and the lady behind me, the lady across the room but it was definitely not with me. -I just sat there as she wrestled with my "cold fingers" from my "cold hands" she even put out a mini heater and she scoffed at me for moving away from it. When I arrived, I was promptly greeted and given a seat at at table. Tami (Tammy?) ended up doing my manicure. Tami was gentle and meticulous. The entire manicure took about 70 minutes; it ended with a nice hand massage, too. Jennie's has every gel and regular polish you can imagine. She's got DND and OPI gel polishes. I also saw Zola, but I don't know if Zola makes gel, too. This nail spot also does powder dip nails. After seeing the beautiful nails of clients on Yelp, I was hoping to get Jennie. Jennie, however, prefers to do acrylics. I don't get acrylics, but if you do, consider coming to Jennie. Tami also admitted that she prefers to do acrylic nails, too. 3.5 stars Pre-COVID, I frequented this shop due to the convenience of making an appointment online and being open later compared to other salons in the SSF/DC/SB area. Staff is friendly. It's always busy. Communication is easy with Jennie and she's known for her mani work. I only get my nails done for special occasions since I'm not suppose to have polish on working in health care. It isn't worth it for me now that I'm washing my hands twice as much dealing with patients, but I have a couple days off this week celebrating my anniversary with babe so it gives me a reason to get cute. Today I got a regular mani and deluxe pedi. It came out to $70 with tip. 40 for deluxe pedi option 1- your standard pedicure with a 10 minute hot stone massage and 15 for a regular manicure. They definitely weren't the best mani/pedis I had. I had 2 nails already smudged while drying. The pedicure was nothing special either, my feet are still pretty calloused. But all in all, my nails look better today than they have in months. I felt like they rushed through, especially with more people entering the shop. Instead of pexi glass barriers between each customer, they space out 1 chair apart for pedicures, but it is a small shop to begin with. All staff wear masks. There is pexi glass shields on the manicurists table. I'm not sure if they wipe down the seating, but I was a little wary of the pillow I had to rest my hands on cause I'm pretty sure it's not washed between uses so I made sure to sanitize my hands once I left. All in all, if you're a Karen or a hypochondriac, I wouldn't recommend coming here because aesthetically, it doesn't appear the cleanest compared to other shops that are larger or have more glass barriers, not to say its dirty whatsoever. If you want a fair price, quick efficient work, or looking for a stylish manicure, then Jennies is fine. Yeah it's not the best or cleanest, but during a time like this, it's important to support our local small businesses. It has always been evident Jennie cares a lot about her business. I can empathize with the slightly rushed service during a time like this because hell, I get nervous still working on patients during this time. So don't be a difficult client and still tip. I tried Jennie's Nails for the first time last week. I got a gel manicure and a gel pedicure that cost me $120 + tip. The service was pretty good and the employees were kind. I'm not sure why, but there was strange bubbling on a few of my nails by the end of the day. It's been only a week and my nails are already chipped. More than half of my nails are either chipped or have the strange bubbling on them. I don't think that I could even go into this establishment again due to the fact that I've had rashes around my body and have been itchy ever since I got my nails done here. This same thing happened to me years ago when I got acrylic nails. There must be something I'm allergic to in this nail salon. I tried Jennie's Nails because my usual nail place wasn't open. Really wanted to love this place because the pictures look promising I came here with builder gel on some nails and acrylics on others. Jennie peeled them all of with a cuticle cutter and a nail tip. Yes she PEELED it off. Some layers of my nails peeled off the the gel/acrylic. Not an ounce of acetone was used in the removal process. I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to be peeling off nails like that. On the first acrylic nail she took the whole thing off in one go, which was a bit painful and she heard me say ouch. On the second acrylic nail, I said ouch many times as she was removing it so she cut small pieces off one at a time. Can't believe this place peels your gel and acrylics off. First time I've seen a nail salon do that. Avoid this place at all cost if you care about the health of your nail. I also felt a bit deceived because I asked for a pedicure and they asked me to pick between the two deluxe pedicures that were advertised on the wall so I thought those were the only two types of pedicures they offer. I love the place but Jennie has to work on staggering her appointments. If you booked an appointment it does not matter at all because you wait 30-45 mins, sometimes even an hour... I've had to wait every single time and unfortunately I'm kind of fed up trying to be a loyal customer. I rarely get any kind of design on my nails, just one color. This review is long overdue but Jennie is seriously THE BEST! I always contacted Jennie via Yelp and she is always so responsive to my request with my appointments! The reason I came here was due to my friend's recommendation of Jennie's expertise in doing acrylic nails; however, I had no intention of doing that at that time. When I first came, one of the other ladies did my gel manicure and I can tell right away who Jennie was. She is so observant and meticulous in keeping her eyes on all customers that walk in just to make sure they are taken of somehow. Granted I do feel that all her staffs are pretty good and up to par with doing nails so you won't be disappointed. I needed a nail place in order to get my nails done for my wedding on Saturday. I came across Jennie's Nails that was open. I sent her a message on Yelp and got a response right away. I made an appointment and drove all the way from San Jose. When I arrived, she did a temperature check and I signed a COVID-19 wavier. Once I enter the salon, everyone had mask, and everything was divided with plexiglass. I felt very safe. The lady who did my nails was amazing and quick! While she was doing my nails I saw people getting their pedicure done. They are sitting on every other chair to keep the distance. She also advised that if we pay cash, there would be $5 off anything over $70 and since I never been there before, I asked for pricing so that I can make her that I brought enough cash. She responded with Gel full set is $45 (medium length); additional $10 for ombré; regular pedicure $24; gel pedicure is $35. Cool! Will stop by the bank and pull about $280 which should cover the cost. So, we arrived a little before 3 pm and saw about 5 women sitting outside so I walked in and was advised that they were little behind. Ok.... so, we filled out the COVID liability waiver type of acknowledgment form and we sat. We waited for about 15 mins, a spot opened, my oldest daughter goes in, then another 15 mins, my younger daughter goes next and another 15 mins,before I sat for a nails. Mind you, during this wait, other women who also scheduled appts started to arrive and pretty much had to wait as well. All in all, my 3 pm appt was pretty much staggered for about 45 mins. I get it they were busy during this tough time, but I gotta say, things seemed a little rushed. However, the workers were all very nice and sweet However, when it was time to check out, I was surprised at the price, my daughter and I who had a full gel set with ombré and gel pedicure came out to $95 each. Now, based on pricing provided, I expected it to be $90/each and with $5 off, $85. My older daughter who had gel full set and regular pedicure and wax, I figured out to be about $90 came out to $115. I attributed it to the design she wanted on her nails. Yeah, it was pretty pricey for the three of us where we spent almost $335 after tipping all of the nail techs. I will add that it's been a while since I got a full set so maybe I'm just a little confused or maybe those are Peninsula prices. Overall, I will say that we were all happy with our nails. Push comes to shove if our local nail salons are still closed, I would visit again. read more
