Horrible customer service.. I called the Edison location about 4 weeks ago. I made an appointment for August 29th for couple's massage. I received a call next day from them saying they have moved my appointment to later time. I was fine with that. Few days later, I got a call again my appointment is moved to earlier time. I was fine. Few days later I received again another call from them saying my appointment is moved back to original time. I was fine with that. Three days ago, I got another call from them, the gentleman said, he made a mistake, the spa is closed on the August 29th. My friend and I used a Groupon for Jennifer Day Spa for a massage and facial. Although the staff was friendly and did great massages and facials, they tried to sell extra products and services every step of the way during our treatment. The "pushy salesman approach" is not what you want to deal with during a 30-minute relaxing massage and an hour long facial. They even went so far as adding extra services to the final bill until we told them bluntly "NO WE DO NOT WANT EXTRA SERVICES". It was the worst massage I've ever gotten, she definitely did not know what she was doing and when I told her she was hurting me she continued on and said "no pain, no gain" and laughed. I purchased an online deal for this place for a massage and facial for two people - so a friend and I scheduled a spa day together. I carelessly didn't read the reviews before purchase and when I did I just hoped that maybe our experience wouldn't be as bad as the others. We arrived promptly for our 4:00 appointment and only had to wait about 5 minutes in the uncomfortable waiting area. We were pleasantly surprised to find out we would be having our massage and facial together in the same room. We were told to undress and lay face down and cover ourselves with a white bath towel that was provided. The room was small and equipped with a surveillance system where we could see the happenings around the rest of the salon - not so relaxing to have that in your room. They began with the massage. The women were very nice and wanted to make sure that we were comfortable but it was clear that they really didn't have any proper training. The massage wasn't smooth and didn't have a rhythm to it like most do. I didn't feel like any tension was relieved at all. At one point I actually felt the woman get on the table and straddle me and it took everything inside of me not to start laughing. When I was asked to turn over, there was no privacy where she would hold the towel and let me turn which I didn't care for. The massages continued for a while longer until the girls excused themselves to wash their hands before starting the facial. When they returned, the facial was basically another massage. They used a nice smelling cleanser at first but I believe they removed it with wet tissues. Nothing about this felt luxurious. Nothing about that was relaxing either because the whole time they were either trying to sell me or my friend on additional services like ear candling (?), photo rejuvenation, or eyebrow tattooing! By the end of the services it had probably reached about 90 degrees in that room and though we mentioned it several times, nothing was done about the temperature. I could go on for days about this (not a spa) experience. It was without contest the worst massage and facial I've ever had. Shame on me for not reading the reviews. This is also truly a lesson in you get what you pay for. We left with a lot of laughs and a good story to tell but went promptly home to shower off the mystery oils and lotions they used. read more

STAY AWAY!!! Yes, they give good massages, but it's very difficult to relax with their paper-thin walls and constant up-selling. Also, they are incredibly RUDE! The manager is bossy, and tries to use the "language barrier" as a reason for being trite and disrespectful. I do have WAY more to say about them, but I have an investigation pending with the state department of consumer affairs, so I can't say too much more. Just know that the "manager" said she was doing a demo on my eyebrows. She, instead, shaved them off in a scheme to try to force me to get their permanent eyebrows treatment (for $400) - which I had previously refused. My siblings and I purchased the groupon deal for our mom which included the facial and body massage. I decided to get a separate one for myself and scheduled my appointment a week before my mom. I had this woman named Jesse she seemed nice at first not pushy... During my massage it started hurting when she was reaching my lower back but I assumed that was because I am really tense and I haven't had a massage in years. It was a bit uncomfortable when she straddled me from behind to massage my back then she started pulling my underwear down even more...it just felt really weird and made me feel like I should have probably gotten up and left...I wasn't sure what to do so I just saw it through and thought about something else. During the facial she talked about my skin and how i could really benefit from the skin scrubber which removes the dead skin. I'm going to be honest I fell for it and I paid an extra $40 for this. As she was finishing up my facial she was telling me about the tip I should leave and most people leave which is $10 per hour or $30 Today my mother goes in for her facial and body massage, we arrived early as per the instructions from the phone call the night before. They did not call my mom into a room until 3 minutes before her appointment. She said her massage and facial went well until the end when she went to tip the lady named Wee $10 and the woman opened the bill on the counter and told her the tip is $10 per hour and they had serviced her for 2 hours. My mother then told her that was all she had and it was a gift from her kids. The man came in and asked my mother if she can give $5 more. My mother felt like they were very pushy and a tip amount should be decided by the consumer depending on the service and experience. My review is for their Bernardsville location. This location is located in a strip mall between a supermarket and other stores. Not very appealing from the outside but the inside was clean with modern decor. I purchased a deal on DealChicken.com for a 60 min aromatherapy massage and 45 min facial for two for a ridiculously good deal. I went in with the expectation of getting up sold but not to the extreme that we did. We arrived about 10 min. before our massage and were never asked to fill out any paperwork like most spas. Although nobody was in the place we weren't taken to our room until after our appointment time. Our couples massage started about 15 min late and we didn't realize it at the time but we were jipped that time. While you're laying their almost naked the up selling begins. You paid for an aromatherapy massage but need a deep tissue, that will be an extra $20 each. Overall the massages were good but the girls talked to us and each other the ENTIRE time!!! At one point my masseuse jumped on my back to massage me. Never have I had that happen. Next were our facials. They were done in the same room. The girls left for about 10 min. to get whatever they needed. This was probably one of the messiest facials I've ever had. I had lotion rubbed across my eyes, mouth, and even behind my ears??? Also when she sprayed toner she sprayed it directly on my face. And of course during the facial some more up selling. The mask isn't included, $10 extra, you can really use this treatment $xx extra. When it was all over my back felt great but I had this feeling of WTH just happened rather than being completely relaxed. When you go to leave you need to pay the tax if you bought a deal and whatever extras you get suckered into. At this point they try to sell you lotions and more sessions. Needless to say when I called to make sure my reservation is confirmed, they couldn't find it. They told me they will call me back but never did that day. So, I called Bernardsville location and spoke to Benny their and told him what had happened and was hoping he could squeeze me in 12/30/12. After I booked my reservation at Bernardsville, Green Brook did call me back and said are you coming for your appt. and I told them I called you yesterday and you couldn't find my reservation. I told them I was never going to your location again and they didn't care or apologized to me. I had my massage & facial with this girl name Zen at Bernardsville and she was amazing. Everyone who has a Groupon for both facial & massage should definitely go to Bernardsville location. The reason being it is a new facility then the other places and the girls there are so nice compare to Green Brook. My girl Zen was not pushy at all. I wish I could give this place 0 stars. I went to Jennifer Day Spa located in Bernardsville for a Signature Facial that I bought with a Groupon. The front desk attendant welcomed me and directed me to the a room. After changing and laying down, I noticed that the front desk lady would be my cosmetologist. She started with the facial and also complaining about how bad was my skin. It was so insulting, since I do take care of my skin daily and periodically in other spas. For each complaint about my skin (dryness, saggy, blackheads and "mini" pimples?), there was another service to fix it. She was very pushy. While she was cleaning my eyebrow, she offered waxing my lip which I accepted. I told her that it was itchy, but she continued to add more wax and saying that my hair was too thin. After waxing she put some sort of ointment and continued with a final facial mask. She then started a weird shoulder massage and kept saying I was tense. It was so painful that I still sore until today (4 days after). It wasn't relaxing at all. When I left the room I went to the front desk to make the payments and once I looked on the mirror I was horrified and wanted to cry. I had a huge red spot under my nose and my right eyebrow was bleeding. I wasn't sure if it was burn or scrapes. I told her that it was hurting and she said I had sensitive skin and it would go away. I didn't want to pay tip but I did so. Once I paid, she started offering me packages and packages of services, and every time I said no she came up with a different plan, price or offer. I went back next day to show to the manager my burned skin between my nose and lips and I also asked for my receipt that they didn't give me the day before. They were talking between them in another language and she said it wasn't a problem and that she would give me back the 10 dollars. I was like, seriously? This same lady, which I assume was either owner or manager, said sorry couple of times and handed me a 10 dollar bill and little box in Chinese language and she said it was an ointment that I should use to peel my burned skin off. The oil (or whatever it was) package was visible violated and I am sure used in other occasions.I didn't accept and that told her I was going to check my skin with a doctor because I was scared of getting a permanent scar. She kept saying that it was nothing and that it would go away in 7 days, just like the cosmetologist said the day before. I asked for my receipt (which came without the business information or anything else but the description and prices) and when I was leaving the salon she gave me a paper handwritten with an offer for free service of Photo Rejuvenation Therapy IPL which according to the her would minimize my scar. I watered my eyes and left. I was horrified how careless and unprofessional they were. We get there the day of and they thought it was all for 1 person, who would do all that in one day?! So we had to reschedule. We go today and I spent like 15 min explaining the simple concept that they had giftcards for the massages and I was just going to pay the facial, no giftcard no groupon no member number. The girl kept on getting confused somehow. We finally go in and as soon as my facial started my girl tried to get me to buy a microdermabrasion bc my skin was oily this n that. I said no a couple times n she dropped it but still said I should keep up with the facials every month. So were all done and as soon we get out and they start talking to us about the package deals and things. It was actually a good deal for 10 facials so I decided to go for it, I can also pay it a little at a time. The woman who did my massage gave me deep tissue but she put too much pressure where I was tender and not enough where it was needed. I guided her but took away from the relaxation aspect. I've gotten a lot of massages and overall it was decent. Nothing to rave about, nothing to cry about. The facial was actually a great deal at the Groupon rate. Like other Yelpers, I was pushed to upgrade my facial. I was also pushed to purchase a package at the end. Overall, the Groupon is an awesome deal IF you aren't bothered by sales tactics. This location is def not a spa experience. My best friend saw the deal on groupon and when she called to see if they had openings they told her not to purchase the groupon deal but to come in and they will charge her the same price. Well when we got there we were told to go into a small room where we had to undress and lie down under a white towel. All seemed ok until they kept pushing for us to upgrade our massage package from Swedish to deep tissue for a charge. While receiving the massage I was in pain after telling her to not be so rough. At one point in the massage the lady straddled me and proceeded to massage me with her fists which felt like a rolling pin. She proceeded to massage my legs and again straddle me and even step on my back and legs with her feet. I asked for a Swedish massage!!!! When did that involve karaoke chopping and feet pounding. Once the ladies left my friend and I cracked up laughing because we had no idea what we got ourselves into. Our facial was more like a cold jelly massage where they tried to get us to do microdermabrasion, eyebrow tattooing and mole removals just to name a few. They definitely uses wet tissues and God knows what on or face. All in all I left with oily skin, bruises on my back, my friend had a burn mark from the heating mist machine and back pain. Founding a very good deal on Living Social for about ~$50 person including tip, three friends and I came here for a Swedish massage and their signature facial. I must say that their massage was very relaxing, but I prefer deep tissue because DT definitely releases all my muscle tensions and stress. The massager treated us with great care and paid close attention to every spot on my body and face. The lady was gentle yet efficient with removing my black heads on my face. Because she noticed that my blackheads were rather stubborn, she applied more steam instead of putting more physical force on my skin, which can be pretty painful! After my first session, I was very satisfied that I ended up buying a 5 times pass for $250! My overall experiences with my facials were excellent, but I had better massages! Also, they can be kind of expensive as they said that if they applied more pressure to make the Swedish to deep tissue, it would be $20 more. read more

I go to the Green Brooke location and get the 90 minute massages regularly. It comes to a great deal that can't be beat with a membership. The massages are amazing and have really helped with my chronic muscle tightness. I have now stopped going to the chiropractor. Got the permanent eyebrow makeup done as well and it has made a world of a difference. I get compliments daily and for once I have eyebrows. They are natural looking and I don't ever have to put on eyebrow makeup. Definitely recommend this place. read more

The products they use smell horrible and I think they are from the dollar store. She kept rubbing over my eyes what felt like oil. It wasn't even worth the Groupon price, never mind the actual price! This review is for the Bernardsville location --- I bought the Groupon for the spa package for 2 people for my boyfriend's birthday present. After purchasing the Groupon, I was slightly disappointed to read all the negative reviews and was upset that I may have ruined a gift for him. We went into the salon with very low expectations because of the reviews, but let me tell you that the 2 ladies we had far exceeded our expectations. We arrived 15 minutes late due to traffic but they had no problem with that. They asked if we would like to be together or seperate in a room and accommodated our request to be together. The services started and they timed everything to be right on point with each other. They did not talk much during the service which made it much more relaxing and surprisingly the massage and facial were much better than other places I have gone to for the price I paid. When it came time to leave, they did try to get us to purchase another package for the same price as the Groupon but I politely declined and that was it. I was surprised they didnt push further, as I had read they tried very hard to do so. Overall, I ended up being extremely happy with the services we received and would recommend anyone to go there. So anyone reading this, consider all reviews at face value but don't listen to some of the negative ones as this place is truly a great place to relax. read more

RE: Green Brook location In my opinion and experience, go somewhere else for your eyebrows. I'm really annoyed with Jennifer Day Spa. I've spent over $1,000 on my eyebrows with them in 3 years, which ROBBERY. Promising me they last 6 months to a YEAR...I shouldn't have spent that kind of money and still not satisfied with the results, with faded patches. My eyebrow history with Jennifer: * 5/19/15: Creative 3D Eyebrow done by Jennifer $680 * 6/23/15: FREE touch-up done * 8/24/16: Jen said must do 'paid' touch-up this time ~ $185 but will do for $150 * 3/28/17: Jen did FREE full-brow touch-up ~ said I will have to pay "next time" * 12/8/17: Jen did Microblading $180 ~ do touchup in 1 YEAR * 1/15/18: went in for a touchup due to color missing on left interior eyebrow. Jen retouched both brows (not as much on the right one) in full for free * noticed color fade on interior right brow by February/March 2018 * 5/8/18: spoke to Jen in person and I'm SOL. She said I paid for a new set in December and she already gave me "one free touchup" 3 weeks later. This is true but that's because my left brow was fading already. She said this/today makes a third time and I'll have to pay $80 for numbing cream and a new needle, that I already had a free touchup. I know Jennifer's a business owner and can't just sit there and do work for free. Doing the initial work with one touchup *sounds* reasonable. However, there are always exceptions and it appears that I am an exception. Don't tell me one YEAR for a touchup and I end up having these faded, undefined interior brows like this. With me being a potential exception, I think she should do the right thing and do another complimentary touchup. Since we're around the 5 month mark, say "next time I have to charge you." I not only go to them for brows but for quite a while, I've been doing 10-pack facial packages with them. I was very nice and never got loud because that's just not my way. But I did tell her I was going to go somewhere else. Her last words to me were "I'm sorry." Really?? So you're willing to lose me as a longtime customer for years, for both facials & eyebrows and chance me telling anyone and everyone I know, not to go to you and give you a bad review?? Wow. Clearly, her work does NOT last a full year as promised, when making her initial pitch to me. If her work lasts up to a year, why have I spent over $1,000 on this and have to keep paying for her work that is fading and not holding up. Don't make promises that you can't deliver . Incident 3- when I called to make another appointment but didn't have my member Id, the front desk personnel refused to locate my file and asked me to come into the spa to make an appointment. When asked to escalate to manager she said he was again unavailable Additional comments: customers are harassed to tip and guilt-tripped to pay under the premise that tips are the only way for the masseuses to make money. What I received was the furthest from a hot stone massage. It was more like a beat down and it hurt so bad. I was then rushed out of the room I was in because they needed it for someone else. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Daisy and the rest of the staff are always kind and welcoming. I got a 60 min massage with GM Collin's collagen treatment (this stuff is the truth). This place is the biggest rip off. When i walked in to get eyelash extensions the woman immediately said "oh honey your skin is bad you need a facial really bad" very rude. I bought a groupon for mink eyelashes when i got there she told me if i wanted mink I would have to pay 50 dollars more and i could only get the cheap plastic extensions. When paying she charged me a 10 dollar tax fee on top of the groupon and then rudely asked me to tip her. I tipped what I thought was appropriate and she again rudely said that's it!? and made me give her more money. The extensions weren't even done well. I suggest nobody come here. read more

Went to Jennifer Day Spa GB for the first time. I love getting facials and usually go to a spa in Watchung, however I had a Groupon gifted to me for Jennifer. It was for 1hr signature facial. The facial itself was ok. Usually I'm relaxed and the ambience is quiet, peaceful and enjoyable. This facial was painful to the point I said "ow you're hurting me as she pressed her fingers into my face. Coupled with this she went on to up-sell my visit and talked the entire time. First it was I can take all moles off your body. There were 5 total and it would cost $400. When I said no thank you I have insurance and can pay a $30 copay. Then it was microdermabrasion is recommended for your skin type because it's dry. I didn't respond. Then she started to massage my shoulders in which she pressed so hard I told her to stop. She then said it hurts because your shoulders are tight. You should get a massage. Again I didn't respond. Next up she asked again about microdermabrasion. So I said no thanks I don't have time. From there it went to an at home face mask that I would benefit from. I finally asked what time it was and discovered I had 15 mins to in which she put a thick mask on and left the room for 5 mins. This was the only enjoyable moment. She came back in and said the face mask will help me with black heads. I have zero! Then she said ok you're done. I got dressed went out to the desk where she proceeded to show me 2 boxes of facial masks which one was on sale today for $39 and the other $49. Needless to say I thanked her and said no. Gave a tip and paid for the Groupon tax. I enjoy facials because not only does you skin glow afterwards but it's totally relaxing-- this one was not! I will not be back. 2 days after my facial and after the woman constantly wiping my eyes I wake up with what looks like a Whitehead on my lower inner eyelid. Can't be proven says Jennifer Day Spa but I'm damn sure positive it's the result of their inadequate facial. Think hard and read ALL reviews before going here. read more
