Tik is a very friendly and wam person. She will greet you with a huge smile and make you feel like you're old friends within minutes of meeting. She's very talkative so be prepared to be engaged in a conversation. I liked the products Tik used for my deep conditioning, wash, and stylnig - all smelled amazing! But the best part, Tik was able to recreate the picture of the haircut I brought in EXACTLY. Granted, it wasn't a super complex cut, I was still impressed that she gave me exactly what I asked for. Lastly, Tik is great at returning phone calls promptly and makes scheduling easy. I am taking away 1 star because unfortunately Tik's services are too expensive for me to use without a groupon deal. Tik is nothing short of A M A Z I N G. Tik made sure to always be available for me and constantly replied to me in a timely manner when we were setting up an appointment. I have seen her twice now for a keratin treatment and she welcomed me with so much love, warmth, and a nice cup of coffee. We hit it off right away. She is so well-spoken, sociable, and genuinely cares about each and every client she has (which is why I keep coming back!) She's a pure expert. Blonde highlights are hard...they can be too ashy, too streaky, too red...but Tik has yet to disappoint. I'm a fan! I always wait a little while after getting a haircut to write a review b/c sometimes it looks great when first cut but then grows out weirdly or the color starts to get wacky. I've gone to Tik twice now for a haircut and partial highlights. She did a beautiful job with my highlights - they're the perfect balance of noticeable but not too in-your-face. Subtle enough to be classy and elegant. I brought in an ad with a model whose hairstyle I liked, and Tik was able to copy it perfectly but tailor it to my face shape and length. After my first visit to Tik in 2012, my hair and highlights looked great grown out even after five months(!). I expect nothing less this time around too. Tik, you're an amazing hair artist. Just got partial highlights, cut and blow out today and walked out unable to stop smiling! I think she cut a good 8 inches off so I was looking for something pretty drastic, and she gave me EXACTLY what I wanted and even had some really great suggestions along the way. I even had completely virgin hair (I hadn't had it colored in 6 years), not to mention that it's a very dark brown, and she got the highlights the right color. Pros: - Tik is super sweet and listened patiently to what I wanted. She also made sure to respect the fact that I wanted to keep the length of my hair. - She's also very thorough and honest. I originally wanted to touch up my ombre and she told me that I could save money and time if I just get a toner every few months or so. She also took the time to explain several hair products to me. I love a good hair product and will definitely consider trying out some of her suggestions once my current supply runs out. - I also appreciate Tik's fairness. I got a Groupon for a partial highlight, cut, blowout and style. When I realized I wanted something different, Tik was nice enough to work with me and figure out an alternative deal that was fair to both of us. - I also loved my haircut! It really brought out the color in my hair and the layers framed my face nicely. Con: - I wasn't happy with the way my hair was styled. To be fair, it was a miscommunication. I requested a flat iron to curl my hair and she thought I wanted to straighten my hair. She was also honest about not being skilled at using a flat iron to curl hair. However, given that I am a first time customer, it would have been great for her to curl it using a curling iron so that I left the salon 100% happy. I had dinner plans after and wanted my hair to be ready to go but it all fell out 30 minutes later so I had to go home and re-curl my entire head. Bottom line: Tik is an experience hair stylist and did a great job on my haircut. I will definitely be back but hope my blowout/style will be better next time, even if it means spending a little extra time. read more

Tik is a very friendly, warm person and very skilled/experienced at what she does. I got the haircut and color that I wanted exactly...subtle highlights that will stand out more in the sun. On top of that, she's great with Asian hair. I have straight, thick, full hair with very dark melanin that most other stylists aren't good at highlighting/coloring...but Tik did it perfectly for me! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!! I went to Tik about a week ago to get a keratin treatment (purchased the groupon deal) and a hair cut. When I came in, my hair was in AWFUL condition. It had thinned out, due to stress and was finally growing back, but the ends were all straggly and the tops were all frizzy. It had gotten to the point where I hated wearing my hair down, since I felt so self-conscious. I've gotten keratin's in the past, so I know what to look for in terms of quality. Tik is good at what she does, making sure to get every piece of hair. She doesn't rush you through it. She also made sure to tell me how to preserve my keratin, and gave me a list of foods to eat to help improve my hair. After waiting to wash my hair and see how the cut looked when I styled my hair myself, I can confidently give Tik the 5 star rating. I feel like a new woman-- I wear my hair down now! My hair is touchable and has bounce to it. It's still thin (even Tik can't change that!) but I don't feel like I have to hide it! My boyfriend told my I look "gorgeous"-- and that word isn't used lightly by most boys! I will definitely be going back to Tik! read more

I absolutely love Tik! My hair has grown out since I last got my haircut in May (elsewhere) and while I was on vacation visiting my family, somehow my mom talked me into letting her cut my hair. Well, hello, she watches Tabitha's Salon Takeover, after all. Oy vey. While I have to give my mom props for not butchering my hair, it actually looked pretty decent and on par with some haircuts I have gotten in the past, a fancy stylish do it was not. It was basically your bowl cut that made me look a bit frumpy. So, this week, I decided to go in for a fix and wanted to find someone new near my office. As I was cruising through reviews in FiDi area, I saw Tik's special pop up on Groupon and the reviews were awesome. I snagged the special and called her right away. Surprisingly, she was able to squeeze me in on a Friday afternoon. Tik worked her magic on me and snip, snip, snip...cut off even more hair than my mom did and now my hair is super short. But what a difference! The hair is silky smooth after the deep conditioning treatment and the style is sleek, sharp, and sexy. The back is perfectly stacked, the edges are feathered, and my face looks completely different. Complete save from frumpiness. Tik is amazing! She really is one of the sweetest, most caring and talented hairdressers I've ever had! I found her on Groupon and wasn't expecting too much, but I'm so glad that I found her! She listened to my requests for my hair and gave me her genuine opinions of what she recommended for my hair type and length. I came in with very dark brown single processed hair and left with a beautiful golden brown balayage/ombre that I absolutely love! Tik took her time with my hair and didn't rush at all, something that I find a lot of hairdressers do these days. She actually took the time to process my hair twice because the first time the color didn't come out as light as I had originally wanted. It's so nice to have someone who actually cares about your hair! She even offered to have me come in a few weeks later to tone it if necessary. I've been meaning to write this review months ago but am just getting around to doing it now. I got my hair done back in August, it is now February. The BEST part about getting my hair done by Tik is that the color has lasted so long!! The color honestly still looks as good as it did when I first got it done!...which is crazy!! I've been coloring my hair for years, been to multiple hairdressers, even colored my hair myself numerous times, so I know how fast lighter colors normally fade on my naturally black hair, especially the lighter brown/blonde tones. I usually give it 2-3 months before I end up with this horrible brassy/orange color, and I have to rush back to my hairdresser. I'm so glad that I've found a hairdresser in the city that knows how to properly color dark hair. I will definitely go back to Tik for all my hair coloring needs! I don't easily give out 5 stars but I think Tik is worth it. I found her through a coupon deal (I forget which one) last year. Since she was only a few blocks away from work, I gave her a try and I was not disappointed. She is now my go-to-stylist. Here are five reasons why I love Tik. 1. She is very skilled and loves what she does. You can tell from talking to her that hair is her passion. I really appreciate someone who do it for the love of it.. Not only is she great at my cut every time but also the blow dry is awesome. I always feel gorgeous afterward and ready for a night on the town :-) 2. I can count on Tik to tell me her real opinion and what's best for my facial structure and hair. I really like a hair stylist that has an opinion. She listens carefully for what I want and is willing to tell me the truth in a nice way if a haircut I choose is really not going to look good on me. I love that ! 3. I can book by text. I love it that I can text her and book an appointment. She responds quickly and sometime can even fit me in the next day or two if she has room or a cancellation. She sometimes works as early as 8am. I can get a gorgeous cut and show up for work right after beautiful hair 4. She is fast. This is important to me as I don't have tons of time for a haircut. I have tried stylists who were slow and it drive me nuts. I feel like they are slow because they are still learning to cut. Tik is fast but still very meticulous and skilled. I feel like she is just good at what she does and can do it confidently and quickly so I can also save time. 5. She knows Asian hair. Surprisingly not all Asian stylist knows Asian hair. My hair is fine and straight. I am glad to find Tik who knows how to handle it so she can bring volume to it without letting it feel choppy. Tik is super nice and sweet! I made an appointment by texting her at 8am on a Monday, and she was able to fit me in at 1pm on the same day at her SF salon location! How lucky! I got highlight one year ago, and now my hair had two seperate colors and on the top it looked completely dull and lifeless. Tik listened to me carefully and offerred me several different options in terms of coloring the hair. And eventually we went with balayage (which I have never tried before), so that even when my black hair grows out from the roots, the lighter color will still look natural. And now I probably don't need to go back to a salon for a another whole year, yet still look OK! I've been getting my hair cut by Tik for about six months now, and I'm very happy. I chose her randomly after leaving my old stylist (who jacked prices up too high) mostly because she was close to where I worked. She did a great job, and continues to do a great job. $35 for a men's cut is the right price for me. I'm your average guy who doesn't do a lot with his hair, but I've definitely had my share of bad haircuts from people who don't understand how to manage wavier hair. Tik did a great job, and she's a pleasure to spend 45 minutes with in a chair every month or two. Excellent service, very good at what she does, and very appreciative of every customer it seems. Found this place after looking through Yelp reviews and Tik was able to accommodate my walk-in. She's perhaps one of the friendliest and most conversational (in a good way) hairdressers I've encountered. However, I did not expect a trim to cost $80 before tip (with tip totaling just under $100). To add, the total amount of time it took to cut my hair from start to finish was maybe half an hour which makes this seem even more expensive. It's been a few weeks since my trim and there's nothing too special about how it turned out. To be fair, I should've asked how much the trim would cost, but I honestly expected something in a more reasonable price range. read more

What a great experience it has been having Tik be my stylist. It all sort of happened as a total fluke when I had a mishap with another stylist (won't get into it, but needed someone QUICK) and Tik jumped in and made it happen. Came back to her a couple weeks later for color and then the following week for a Keratin treatment. Tik is fun, social, friendly, and an overall GOOD person. I purchased a groupon from Tik several months ago and came in with a picture of a blonde girl with highlights. It was a photo of balayage highlights which my groupon didn't come with, but she gave me a really good deal and accomodated me anyways. It has been months since i came in and my hair is only now finally ready to be done again-- a sign of a truly great job. She was so warm and friendly. Ive never felt so comfortable with a hair stylist before. I was most satisfied with how efficient she was and how when I told her I was growing out my hair, she fully understood and only trimmed a bit (which hardly ever happens). I've always had trouble finding a great hair stylist to cut my long hair. I found Tik on Groupon and I read her Yelp reviews and a lot were saying she's great with long hair and she knows how to deal with Asian hair. So I bought her Groupon and turns out she's the best at cutting Asian hair. I wanted long layers and shapping a V in the back and she gave me exactly what I wanted. She is well worth her price point. Tik is absolutely amazing! I have visited Tik before for a hair cut and I loved what she did then. So I went back in for another hair cut and keratin treatment. My hair is wavy and thick but fine and frizzy. I also had a bad hair cut previously at Edo salon where Jay thinned my already frizzy hair and made a total mess out of it :( so I waited about three months and then went back to Tik and I'm so glad I did! The whole keratin process takes about 3 hours. Tik was up and at the salon at 7 am on a Monday morning so I could still get to work at 10! She did a fantastic job with the keratin treatment and the post treatment cut. She uses Coppola and Rene futures products both of which are my faves! My hair has never been more manageable and looked so good with such little effort! Tik offered me tea and coffee and fruit and cookies for breakfast. I'd like to start off by saying a huge thank you to Tik for the amazing results. I LOVE MY HAIR!! After my visit to EZ Threads to get my eyebrows done, I spontaneously popped into the beautiful Echos Hair Design salon which was right next door in the same building..in hopes of a free consultation with a stylist. Tik was able to consult with me after adding treatment to her client. She was super friendly and conversational. I felt so comfortable and I felt like she really understood what I wanted my whole transformation to look like. I didn't have specific ideas but after a nice chat with Tik and listening to her professional advice, I knew my search for a hair stylist had been found! First of all, my hair has been over processed and damaged for many years. I finally gave up on it and knew I needed an epic transformation.Tik advised keratin hair treatment which I've already been researching about. I wanted to also do something new to add dimension to my hair so we agreed on subtle highlights, kind of like the balayage trend right now. And obviously to fix my grown out choppy layers, we agreed that my hair definitely needed at least a trim on all the layers. Today I finally went into the salon at our appointed date and time; I've never been so happy with the results. I feel fab! The highlighting and toner process was clean and Tik was very precise. She also gave me a nice head/scalp massage during the rinse. We did the keratin hair treatment after. It smelled like coconut and resulted in gorgeous shiny ultra-soft hair! She gave me the perfect trim to my layers. At least three inches came off my dead split ends and my hair feels amazing when I run my fingers through it! For an amazing deal and a great stylist that I will forever return to as long as she stays in San Francisco; you won't regret paying a visit to Tik. I can't say much more than that.
