I went to grab 2 packages of ice cream sandwich's there was a pretty long line so I went around the side to another cash resister where a customer was checking out a cake I tried to pay the employee said I had to wait in long line to just pay for the prepared package !!!! Decided to finally give Jennifer's a try last night and I have a new ice cream place staple! Walked in around 8:15 PM. The place was busy. Waited in line maybe 5 min and ended up getting a small cone of cheesecake ice cream. They had several different interesting flavors, soft serve flavors, sundaes, and cakes. My fav is the cherry vanilla with hot fudge. Yum! I'm newly celiac () and like to let folks know. Got a ice cream for my monthly bday party at work and everyone loved it. Service was efficient and friendly. They wrote happy birthday and can personalize it how you want. Small ice cream spot with 3 or so tables inside. The place is kind of run down/old, but it is kept very clean. Their ice cream is made in-house, but their mix is supplied by a company named Panza. They have a decent selection of flavors, but they were missing my go-to (chocolate chip) so I went with the chocolate-chip cookie dough instead. The ice cream was pretty solid and there were plenty of chocolate chips and cookie dough pieces, however the chocolate chips were tiny and weren't my favorite great. A local ice cream shop with a decent choice of flavors but nothing really mind blowing. We stopped by after dinner for some ice cream and was surprised to find a pretty long line. The ice cream was ok and the soft serve didn't melt the minute I stepped outside in August heat so that's a good sign. The thing that bothered me was none of the servers was wearing masks and they're talking to customers over the ice cream bins. I wish they had better Covid protocols for safety. read more

Great little ice cream shop in the heart of East Haven.  The first thing you'll notice when you walk in are all the cakes, pre-packaged ice cream, and ice cream sandwiches that they have packed in their freezers ready for anyone who is looking to grab-and-go.  There was a great selection of ice cream flavors available and they all looked nice and fresh, no freezer burn or ice-shavings covering the top layer.  They also seem to be well-staffed with a lot of workers on hand ready to take on the orders of customers.  For two medium cups (2 scoops in each) of ice cream with two toppings on each, we were out the door for less than $8.  Can't beat it!   If the weather is agreeable, ask for lids for your cups and take the three minute drive over to the Pardee Seawall (Townsend Avenue in New Haven) and grab a bench overlooking Morris Cover.  You won't regret it! read more

Recently checked out Jennifer's for an evening treat on a recent heat wave evening. The place wasn't packed when we got there, which was good we didn't have to wait long. I got a small scoop of cookies and cream ice cream with mini m&ms on top and my boyfriend opted for a chocolate shake. We also got two flying saucers to take home (hello nostalgia reminds me of when I was kid eating these). Ice cream was good, but nothing noteworthy. Just standard ice ice cream IMO. My boyfriend wasn't a huge fan of his shake. It was too sweet and too thick to drink, but to each their own. The staff was friendly but place very run down looking. I stopped here a Sunday morning a few weeks ago. The quality of the ice cream here is pretty authentically homemade and fresh. The pumpkin and apple pie flavors were amazing (seasonal). I inquired if there are other seasonal flavors in other seasons (I was maybe thinking like a candy cane mint one for the holidays, etc.) and was told that they have one or two in the Spring/Summer months. Although it's a bit on the small side inside, it's well worth the trip here. They have tons of ice cream sandwiches, pies, ice cream cakes and containers of pre-packed ice cream to purchase too. I left with a custom container of the pumpkin, apple pie and cheesecake flavors, packed before my eyes in a large container for only $9. My boyfriend's beautiful aunt, who is the kindest person and would do anything for anyone, has been handicapped since birth. For the second time she has been denied ice cream at Jennifer's Ice Cream in East Haven. She rides her scooter all the way there but it can't fit through the door. She's calls and asks if they can bring it outside to her (a ten foot walk from counter to sidewalk) and the man says no. It makes no sense and she deserves better. Don't go to this place.
