YES!!! I had a great day thanks to Dr. Hornung at Merrimack Valley Oral Surgeons. My impression of…read moreDr. Hornung, who I met for the first time today, he is one of the uppermost skilled medical professional I have experienced as far as I can remember. He explained to me my options in a very clear precise way without any medical jargon. As result of that, his explanation helped me make the best possible decision about my oral needs and my finance as it relates to the excellent service and care he provided today. The only downside, my procedure started 20 minutes late despite arriving more than 30 minutes early which meant I should have deducted one star from his awesome service. So why did I still rate Dr. Hornung at Merrimack Valley Oral Surgeons with 5 stars? It is because he called me personally over the phone that same evening, a personal call, to see how I was doing. I was like, wow! That has never ever happened to me in my entire life where the doctor calls you back to check on you to see how you are doing. BOOM! 5 stars. The procedure was done before I realized it was ever even started. I was very comfortable during the entire procedure. The meds he prescribed were ready for pick up at my local pharmacy when I arrived home. I took the meds he prescribed as recommended. I feel nearly pain free and relaxed. I strongly recommend Dr. Hornung at Merrimack Valley Oral Surgeons! Like I said earlier, it was great day!

Today I received…read morea phone call telling me that Dr. Jaegak Kim is no longer taking TMJ patients, that my appointment has been cancelled, and that they can't even recommend another doctor to see in his place. All the while, I've been sitting in pain waiting to see this doctor, now I need to begin my search for a TMJ specialist all over again, and continue to be in pain. My appointment was coming up very soon. There is absolutely no reason why the doctor couldn't have agreed to see me since the appointment was already in place. It's clear that Dr. Jaegak Kim has no integrity and no respect for his patients or his practice. If it wasn't for patients such as myself, Dr. Jaegak Kim wouldn't even have a practice. He should be ashamed of himself for treating his patients with such callousness.

His assistants, Kenia, Kiley, desk admin--Cristina, were all extremely helpful and friendly! Needing two teeth extracted, my little boy was quite scared and they all took just just the right steps to make him as relaxed and comfortable as possible. They kept me updated along the way. The office was very soothing and a comfortable environment. This was important to us and really so necessary for us patients and especially for my son. Thank you Dr. Courtney and everyone involved--even those just passing by in the office, who's names I did not catch. All-in-all a great team!!

I'm in my 40s and thought I was going to be in for a terrible time since I waited so long to get my wisdom teeth taken care of. Dr. Feldman and her team are great. Her office is super responsive and I didn't have to wait long for the surgery. Her new space in Arlington is beautiful. The procedure itself was a BREEZE. I opted to be completely sedated, so all I experienced was walking in, having a nice chat with the doctor, passing out, and waking up (happily?) with four fewer teeth. The worst part of the experience was the mouth gauze (ugh, gag), but I was able to ditch that pretty soon after I got home. BUT THE ICING ON THE CAKE: I work in a medical setting, and I know that drug protocols and pain control can make or break the immediate post-op experience for a patient. Homegirl has her drugs dialed in. I was *literally* pain free for the first 48 hours after the procedure. I had to remind myself to take ibuprofen regularly to keep the inflammation down, because I didn't need it for pain right away. YES, OF COURSE, it's not comfortable to have four bleeding holes in your mouth. But it's a heck of a lot more pleasant when the worst part of your recovery is pain free, and you only start to experience the discomfort when you're over the hump. Dr. Feldman takes what should be a terrible and traumatizing experience and turns it into something that's extremely manageable. I hope I never see her again, and I am also recommending her to everyone who has also procrastinated their dental care.

Anything regarding my teeth is my nightmare. I wish that I could be knocked out during a routine…read moredental cleaning. I don't know what it is, but I hate the feeling of metal on my teeth, it's the worst. So, when my dentist recommended that I get my wisdom teeth out, I put it off for a year. Finally, they started to be uncomfortable, so I knew I had to "bite" the bullet. I went to three different oral surgeons for a consultation. Belmont oral surgery was my pick for one reason. I would be put under during the procedure. The other places offered twilight sedation. Based on my friends getting "Twilight", I knew that you would be semi-awake, and that wasn't enough for me. Dreading the procedure for weeks, the day finally came. I went in, they put in the IV, started talking about my job to me, and then.... I woke up in the recovery room. So, I don't remember anything about the procedure. That's great. Next, it's been three days, and I can say, I am not in any pain? My girlfriend got this procedure done at a different facility and she had a swollen mouth and a lot of pain for 3-5 days. I even stocked up on mashed potatoes because I didn't think I'd be able to eat for a week. Well, the day after my procedure, I had bacon and eggs, and worked out at the gym and went to work no problem. My swelling is almost nothing, and I'm not in any pain at all. The office is very straight forward and not exactly a "spa-like" atmosphere as some of the other facilities I went to for a quote. The front desk staff is kinda, "Sit down, fill the form, and wait" and less like the more "high-end" offices I went to that offered me Fruit infused water and snacks and stuff. But that's OK, because this place has much better results and a cheaper price. Overall, I made the best choice coming here. Yes, it doesn't have high-end decor, a staff that will baby you, and all the bells and whistles of a chestnut hill office, but this place gets the job done the best. Like I said, it's day three, and I'm not in any pain. At all.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE please please avoid. The staff and especially Dr. Eckert (I only saw the father…read morenot the son) were extremely unprofessional and made me feel so uncomfortable. I actually cried once I returned home. I came in looking for a consult on a single wisdom tooth that has been bothering me. Dr. Eckert came in and immediately started pushing for me to get all 4 out: that's not what I came in prepared to do, so I was trying to ask questions about why I would need all 4 out when only one was bothering me. One of his quips when I asked why I would need all 4 was "only 10% of people get to keep all 4 of their wisdom teeth"???? okay?? how many people have 1 out, 2 out, etc? I feel that if I'm signing up for a surgery I'm allowed to ask as many questions as I want, but at a certain point Dr. Eckert said "I'm sensing some hesitancy and honestly, I don't know why." Maybe for a dentist the procedure feels mundane, but again, I'm allowed to be hesitant! I'm allowed to ask questions! And I shouldn't be shamed or gaslight into thinking I'm being ridiculous for asking questions! Another thing I kept asking was if I could just do the 1 or maybe the bottoms, as I see no reason to take out the tops (they haven't even started growing in yet). Dr. Eckert just kept saying "I don't know why you would do just 1 right now, because then you'll have to come in 3 more times to get each one out" what a ridiculous comment to even come out of his mouth. Of course I don't want to come in 4 times to take each out 1-by-1. That's not what I'm asking. I'm asking if I can tackle only the ones that look bothersome now, and reassess with the others later in life. They're my teeth, I'm allowed to decide which ones I want taken out!! Listen, I understand what his perspective is. He thinks all 4 will eventually start to bother me. Whether he's right about that is the subject of intense debate. The surgery is very invasive and having all 4 out will make the healing process more difficult, so I was hoping to avoid taking some out if they weren't bothering me right now. If 10 years from now they do start to bother me, great, fine. I'll take them out. There was no room for this perspective in that office, I'll tell you that! Finally, a note on the front desk and assistants, who were no better. There was a debate about whether to do full anesthesia or laughing gas. An assistant told me laughing gas wouldn't be covered by insurance. When I was checking out, I asked if I could please get a quote for both the full anesthesia cost and the laughing gas cost so that I could determine which one works better for my budget. They took SO MUCH offense to this request (even though it's literally my money and I'm allowed to ask how much the procedure will cost), and never gave me the second quote. When they finally got back to me about a cost it was for all 4 teeth (how many times did I tell them I didn't want all 4 out!!) and it was completely unspecified whether they had quoted me for full anesthesia or laughing gas. I definitely did not get 2 quotes. I cannot stress how entirely unprofessional my entire experience was. I sincerely hope dealing with the younger Mr. Eckert is a more pleasant experience. Please avoid this practice at all costs, they did not convey a respect for the patient like I would have expected, they just wanted to get as much money out of me as possible.
