I have been exploring dental offices in the area since 2024 and have been disappointed by most of them(check my dental review history). Beacon Family Dental is the only one so far that truly cares about their patients, whereas many other offices only focus on making more profit. Everything here is extremely transparent and professional, from the front desk to the dentist and hygienist. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a dentist to give them a try. First of all, I wasn't sure whether my insurance would cover the dental expenses, the front desk staff carefully reviewed my insurance and explained the coverage breakdown step by step. I've visited four dental offices in the past year, and no one else has ever done this, all of the other front desk I spoke to brushed off these questions and only tried to persuade me into buying more of their services. Second, my hygienist, Samantha, genuinely cares about her patients. She did my cleaning in a super gentle way, and she kept asking me to let her know immediately if I felt any discomfort during the process. Last but not least, Dr. Liu examined my teeth, noticed some bleeding, and suggested a partial deep cleaning only if necessary. This was by far the fairest advice I've received. At other offices, the first recommendation was always a full deep cleaning. Overall, my experience at Beacon Family Dental has been outstanding! Their transparency, professionalism, and genuine concern for patient comfort truly set them apart from other dental offices I've visited. Be careful of billing fraud! I visited Beacon Family Dental a month ago for re-cement of my implant. Because they were not sure whether insurance would cover re-cement, they charged me $236 onsite for the full price of re-cement and promised would refund me if the insurance does cover it. A week later I received statement from my insurance showing they did cover most of the re-cement. I waited for another month for the refund but didn't receive any, so I reached out to the dental office. I am attaching their response below. The last message sounded very unprofessional and rude to me. To justify no-refund, they then resubmitted an additional claim for implant maintenance and charged $315. However, they never mentioned this service to me before, not to mention "told you insurance won't cover it". They charged me upfront $236 which was the exact full amount they submitted for re-cement but nothing else. I never requested for or was aware of the "implant maintenance service". It sounded like a makeup thing they came up later to deny the refund. Very disappointed at the staff's dishonesty. read more

My first time visiting any dentist in Massachusetts and I am glad I came here! They saw me at before my appointment time as I got there a few minutes early. They accepted registration paperwork via email so I recommend doing this to speed up your waiting time. I was seen by staff immediately maybe waited like 10 minutes or less for Dr.Wang surprisingly quickly! She was gentle, informative, and consistently making sure I was okay and not feeling pain or sensitivity with my routine cleaning. They had soothing classical music which helped calm my nerves. I usually bleed and am sensitive so I get like numbing liquid or something on my gums - or so I thought. Turns out it may have just been the previous dentist office being too rough because none of that was necessary for this cleaning! I was out in less than an hour which was awesome and not to mention they are open Saturdays so I was able to fit my follow up appointments around my work schedule. Dr. Liu is so caring and professional. I suffered toothache last few days, she kindly arranged me an appointment very soon. I remembered the awful experience to do wisdom teeth extraction last time in other dental, it almost take me weeks to recover and with pain. I would NOT recommend this dentist. I was told I had 4 cavities and got 2 filled with Beacon Family Dental. I then moved, found a new dentist, and was told I have ZERO cavities. Beacon Family Dental made me feel incredibly bad about my teeth, telling me I would need braces again, jaw surgery, prescribed me a prescription toothpaste and overall did NOT make me feel confident or encouraged about my teeth. Lucy is great and very responsive. My crown cracked and I tried to contact multiple dentists around the area. Lucy was the first to respond and fit me into busy schedule the next day. She did an emergency temporary repair until she could fit me in for a permanent replacement. I got my permanent crown today and very satisfied with the outcome. This is my very first Yelp review and I downloaded this App just to share my wonderful experience at the Beacon Family Dental and say thank you to Dr. Liu, Dr. Wang, and their team. This is definitely an incredibly amazing place. I was having a cavity issue on Thursday in California during an academic conference (quite urgent as part of my tooth fell off during lunch, unexpectedly). I literally called Dr. Liu's team from the conference hall, and it was so kind and considerate of them to arrange an appointment at the very early morning of Saturday. I went to the clinic at around 7.45 am, Saturday, and everything was ready and prepared for me. Note that the waiting time is seriously zero (just a quick confirmation of my personal information)! It was Dr. Wang who took care of my X-ray inspection and tooth filling. The whole procedure was less than 40 min and they were so professional and communicative that there was no pain, stress, or fear at all! I am personally a physical metallurgist and if I were to use more descriptive languages, the way Dr. Wang operated the dental tools were like the "greatest-of-all time" blacksmithing expert making a sword, which is almost like a type of art you can appreciate. In the meantime, she was so considerate and kept on informing me, for instance, "next, I will do xxx, and there might be a pain in your xxx position, please raise your hand if you feel uncomfortable". I trust these kinds of communication and considerate thoughts greatly alleviate the psychological stress when a patient sit on the dental chair. For less than 40 min, my problem was solved, and the filled tooth looks so great that I cannot even recognize by bare eyes. I could not be more grateful about this, and wanted to thank Dr. Liu and Dr. Wang for the lightening reaction to my urgent issue. Totally agree that they're judgemental , unprofessional and descriminatory, it needs peer-reviewed before continuing service. I had to leave without a cleaning after one hour of waiting there because the temp they hired was unable to do a simple cleaning. She was not even able to set up a X-ray for half an hour. I give Dr. Liu and her staffs the best rating. I have been seeing Dr. Liu since early 2019. Since then I have visited her office dozen times including two cleanings. I had multiple issues accumulated over the past years. I had a half broken tooth next to existing crown bridge which was very hard to extract without affecting the neighbor crown bridge. Dr. Liu used a special tool to accomplish the work in less than a few minutes. The more work Dr. Liu did for me, the more I can experience the superior work Dr. Liu distinguish from most other dentists. Her work is in precision. Dr. Liu's office staff Miss Ma is also the best receptionist I have ever met. She manages the patients so well. First as a patient, I do get multiple reminds for my appointments, which might be a bit annoying sometimes, but this helps to eliminate patient's late to office. I never remember a single time Dr. Liu is late to see me. She is always on time and on target. Another thing I like to mention is that their billing management. It seems to me Miss Ma also helps billing. They never had any errors in my 8 pages of billing records. They design the treatment plan according to my two dental insurances. The Beacon Family Dental team were attentive, super responsive (email, phone, text reminders), and awesome at what they do. I was suffering many different issues with my teeth. I hadn't had satisfied experience with dentists until I met Dr. Liu. Dr. Liu was asking questions, doing the exams, treating every issues in person with me. She measured the periodontal depth of every tooth before making decision if I need a deep cleaning. According to the data that she got from the measure, Dr. Liu did a general tooth cleaning for me. There was no any uncomfortable feelings at all. I had a broken tooth that need to do a tooth implant. The broken tooth had a very deep root without a head. Two days ago, Dr. Liu did a tooth (the root) extraction for me. I thought it may need to do surgery to open the gingiva for the tooth extraction. I was very nervous. However, it turned out that I even didn't notice that she already extracted the root until she showed me the root. Dr. Liu is very patient, very professional with very amazing skillset. I also noticed that her devices are much more advanced than all of my previous dentist. Dr. Lucy is the best dentist I have ever met last 10 years. She really cares for the patients and loves what she is doing. My family visited her office first time in Brookline about 3 weeks ago. She let her assistant check our insurance before hand, so we do not need worry about insurance when we were in her office. We waited for about 5 minutes. My two young boys played in the waiting room. She checked and cleaned our teeth very carefully. My older son (6 yr old)was not afraid of being examined by Dr.Lucy seeing how kind she is. I had an amazing experience! They have a new patient special (cleaning, check-up, X-rays) for only $56. They did not try to get me to pay any more, which I've had other dentists do in the past. If you don't have insurance, the prices are VERY reasonable!!!! My wife found Dr. Liu from another website's recommendation, we called on a Sunday night around 7pm to leave a message, to our amazement Dr. Liu called us back within 20 minutes and listened to my dental issue and booked an appointment for me. During my visit I was running late due to traffic, but Dr. Liu waited after-hours for me and determined I needed a tooth extraction, she explained the procedure in detail and went over what my Insurance would cover so there would be no surprises. On the day of the procedure, everything went smoothly, her entire staff was very friendly and ready for my appointment. It should have been a difficult extraction but Dr. Liu was able to remove the tooth 100% without other damage under 20 minutes. The overall procedure was very professional, quick and smooth. I was anticipating a lot of pain but to my surprise, the pain was minimal and recovery time was faster than anticipated. Dr. Liu even followed up on a Sunday to ask if I was recovering well. I went along with my daughter for her cleaning. My daughter is an adult but going to the dentist is not her favorite place. You can say I was there for moral support. The office is very nice, the staff were very polite and efficient. After she did the proper paper work she was promptly seen by Doctor Lucy. The best part of this visit was when my daughter was done I asked her how did it go? To which she replied that was a great Doctor, who did not hurt me and try to sell me other services. Had a very nice experience here in June of 2018. I was interested in Invisalign and was able to get in quickly for an initial consultation. I was greeted warmly. Dr Liu's examination was quick but thorough. She was very honest about what Invisalign could and couldn't help with, to the extent that she convinced me I probably didn't need it. Though I had my own insurance issues right at the beginning thanks to a new plan, Doctor Liu was quick to offer a solution so I could still be seen on time. As a brand new patient who has had some less than ideal experiences with dentists before, I was nervous going in especially since my last dentist had pushed wisdom teeth surgery even though only the top 2 had barely come in and were not causing any pain. Not only did Dr. Liu and her staff xray my entire mouth in 10min, but did not even try to suggest surgery after checking in to see if they were giving me any problems. I don't know how this dentist has so many positive reviews. The filling Dr. Liu did on my front tooth was the worst I've ever had done. They were judgy and rude. (I'm the first to admit my teeth aren't perfect and are prone to cavities. Don't make me feel worse about it - I'll just come to the dentist less because you make me feel miserable!) Anyway, It took THREE HOURS to complete a SINGLE FILLING. I was late to work because it took so unexpectedly long. I just got back from my new dentist was shocked when she looked at the filling from here (on my front tooth, mind you) was very old based on how roughly it was done (it was done a year ago). Dr. Liu used a color several shades darker than my other teeth and I dislike my smile now. The tooth is shorter than the others, misshaped and really sharp. This place also provided me with prescription mouth wash and said to use it regularly. I was told by many since then that you are not to use that unless you have had a recent surgery, and if then only for 2 weeks as it can stain teeth further and cause problems like buildup of tartar. Ugh. The work I had done here was very expensive (with insurance!) and very disappointing. Go somewhere else! read more

I've had a great experience at this dentist. First, the put significant effort into checking that you are coming and reminding you of appointments. I know some people would find this annoying, but I love it cause I have a busy schedule and this makes it easy. Second, everyone there is kind and informative. As a person with a science background, I generally have a lot of questions to what they are doing, the cost, etc. And they are always open to explaining and laying things out clearly. Lastly, Dr. Liu is helpful, informative, and efficient with her work. I would highly suggest this practice for anyone moving to the brookline area. I had the best experience with Dr. Liu and her staff! I was having some tooth and gum pain and another dentist recommended that I have a root canal done, which would have cost me close to $4k because I do not have dental insurance. I went to Beacon Family Dental because they offer a 20% discount for full-time students and I figured I could save a little money on the root canal. However, after a thorough examination, Dr. Liu concluded a root canal may not be needed and performed a different procedure that seems to have addressed the issue. I'm no longer in pain and I'm incredibly grateful that I got a second opinion from Dr. Liu. I was in and out of the office in under 45 min but I felt like they took their time during the exam and come up with a treatment plan. Also, given that we are in COVID times, I also want to note that the office was super clean, everyone was wearing adequate PPE, and the check-in process was seamless. Fantastic. I may well be at 10 check-ins before Fall of this year (I'm learning to floss more frequently in the hardest way possible), and I don't think I could do it in a better office. The staff is attentive, communicative, and compassionate. It's a clean air environment (which I really didn't know I'd appreciate as much as I do until I experienced it here), and very easy to reach, steps from Washington Square. Dr. Liu and her staff is amazing. My whole family has been going to her since she opened-- now my 2 elderly parents, me, my 2 and 4 year old are all patients. Unlike our dentists before who hardly spend time w/patients, she spends much of any visit (she's even cleaned my kids' teeth herself!) and is very thorough, expert and great w/kids. I strongly recommend Lucy as a nice and professional dentist. My husband just moved to Boston two weeks ago and got a serious toothache on Sunday night. And I could not find any dentist at that time. After google, I found Lucy website, as well as Wechat number. I sent Lucy a short message through Wechat. Surprisingly, Lucy replied me in a short time. She kindly asked about the situation, and said that she could not arrange an appointment for us earlier than Tuesday noon. She suggested some pain killer drug that we can get easily. She also gave a lot of nice suggestions. On Monday, my husband situation got even worse. And we happened to know that there is another place for urgent dental service. So we decided to go to the urgent clinic. Just before I was about to send Lucy a short message to inform and apologize for our cancellation of the appointment, she sent me a short message to check the situation of my husband.
