Also, I asked for my dental records to be transferred to another office and they emailed them without any password protection - a HIPPA violation! TL;DR: Go elsewhere, if possible Went here for a couple years as my first dentist in Boston. Was fine for most of it (routine cleanings, a filling). Front office was kind, my first hygienist was nice. My dentist and hygienist were changed on me without notice, and neither of them introduced themselves to me (I still don't know what the dentist looks like or what his name is). Further, the new hygienist used a tool during a routine cleaning that broke off a piece of my tooth. He asked if "that crack [has] always been there", to which I replied "no." Come to find that I require a crown. In my back and forth with the office over this, I find that the hygienist had written in his notes that I came in with the crack. His notes state that I said "I think one of my teeth broke", which is patently false. When confronted with this, the dentist refused to believe me or cover any part of the now required procedure. More than the confusion over the cause of the crack in my tooth, it really worried me that the dental notes written at this place don't align with reality: that's scary, as they aren't things I review at every routine cleaning. Icing on the cake: I asked for my dental records to move on to a new dentist, and they sent me the dental notes for a different patient, casually violating HIPAA. Go at your own risk. read more

Dentist extracted my molar and damaged the adjacent tooth. I pointed that out on my next visit and all the other dentist did was to file down the damaged tooth. When she was done filing it down it still felt sharp with my tongue. I asked her to continue filing but she said any further filing would expose the nerve. read more

TL;DR: avoid. Very poor experience. From the first weeks of Invisalign I told the dentist that my bite was becoming malaligned...and I was dismissed. The treatment took twice as long as originally quoted (with the original treatment plan aligning only my top teeth and not the bottom teeth?), despite months of repeat visits and troubleshooting, the bite never got back to normal (of course, no compensation for poor care or time spent was offered). In addition to having concerns dismissed, you can look forward to less than half of calls being returned, no means of directly contacting your dentist, uncleaned exam rooms and rude front desk staff. read more

Longwood Dental (LD) is a factory like dental office. They are great for bi-annual cleanings. Unless they cancel your appointment and neglect to reschedule a new one. My advice is if you have an emergency....... DO NOT go there. My experience as a patient of three years and of reasonable satisfaction is that if you don't have an appointment go somewhere else. I recently had terrible tooth pain. LD took me in on a Thursday. Gave me antibiotics. Told me to come back on Monday if not feeling better. I called on Sunday, left a message that I needed to come in on Monday. I called Monday morning in an attempt to get a jump on the day. I was told "I doubt we can get you in today and that someone will call you back." The return call was received on Tuesday at 3:50pm. (Over 32 hours later.). The doctor who called asked me "how are you feeling." I informed him that I left a message on Sunday and that I spoke with a receptionist on Monday morning. His reply was "I'm doing my best." Needless to say........I called another endodontist on Monday morning and by Monday afternoon he performed a desperately necessary root canal. Simply stated........do not go to Longwood Dental in an emergency. Obviously, they are too busy to have your well being as a priority. Also, they love, love to take x-rays!!! read more

I have used Longwood Dental Group for many years and have always been very impressed with the technical capability of the staff and how well they treated patients. On this recent occasion, I had been out of the country for quite a while. While away I broke a crown and my tooth. When I came back, the first thing that I did was to call the Dental Group and try and schedule an urgent visit to deal with my damaged tooth and crown that day. They were extremely accommodating and took me for an afternoon appointment. When I explained that I was leaving again the next morning, the dentist suggested that he was probably able to finish the job on that day, if I was willing to stay for a few hours. Of course, I was willing to stay to get it all finished that day! True to his word, he did finish that day and did a fantastic job with very little pain! I am so relieved to have my mouth in working order now. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate all of the staff's help to get me in and out in such a short time. I am sure that many appointments do not involve the travel complications that I had, and I am very sure that very few dentists would have been as accommodating as the staff in this practice were! I cannot express my extreme disappointment with Longwood Dental. What started as a simple request to remove old orthodontic attachments turned into a nightmare. Dr. Lazowski pressured me into unnecessary Invisalign treatment by telling me my teeth needed work, and the treatment caused unbearable pain and discomfort- migraines, not being able to chew properly, and jaw clicking that I'd never experienced prior. Despite numerous complaints about the worsening condition of my teeth, their solution was to continue with a clearly ineffective treatment plan, even suggesting unnecessary procedures like teeth shaving and jaw surgery. The dentist at Longwood Dental was consistently condescending and belittling, refusing to truly listen to my concerns. After enduring a year of agony and realizing she wasn't going to hear me, I sought a second opinion and discovered the extent of the damage caused by their incompetence- I will have to go through 18 months of corrective treatment. They agreed to give me a partial refund- making sure I understood that it was only partial because of all the work, money and time THEY put into my plan. Zero concern for how much time and money I put in, in addition to the pain. To add insult to injury, the partial refund was handled with extreme inefficiency and caused unnecessary stress and took over six months to settle on. I strongly advise anyone considering dental work to avoid this practice at all costs. Their disregard for patient well-being is appalling. read more

The interaction with billing person is the worst i have had to date. I had to redo a crown, no one gave me the slightest idea that due to special circumstances the operation may not be covered by insurance. I have two dental insurances to make sure out of pocket costs are manageable. I did the paperwork when setting the appointment... the person setting up the appointment not knowing I had 2 insurances told me as part of her routine that on the day I needed to pay $x amount since insurance covers only a certain amount. I reminded her I had 2 insurances. She checked my files and said I didn't need to worry and it will be covered. Sure enough the second insurance didn't pay b/c the crown was a repeat and no one told me it won't be covered. They stuck me with a large bill afterwards and not even acknowledging they had an obligation to warn me about this possibility. I could have very well gone back to the original office that did the crown and getting it done for free. But no, why inform the customer why you can milk them? I have never written a review on Yelp but needed to warn others about this. Although my hygienist and the front desk staff were very friendly, my dentist was terrible. I was told I needed a filling, only the second one I've had in my life. The dentist informed me it may be painful for a few days and potentially sensitive for a month. The tooth was immediately very painful and continued to give me jaw pain that left me waking up every single night because of the pain. Because I didn't think this was normal, I called and they did allow me to return quickly for an appointment. However, the dentist was very dismissive of my issue and told me to just give it time. It had already been a month since the filling. He made adjustments and told me it should improve. I waited another month to see if my mouth would adjust and the pain was still present. Most people I talked with told me they recovered from fillings after a couple of days. After two months I returned again and he again did not listen to my concerns, often interrupting me. He said that I was probably grinding my teeth due to stress ("maybe from Covid") and that was the reason for my jaw pain. I have never had teeth grinding issues and it only occurred after the filling. The dentist was clearly trying to relinquish responsibility and blame it on Covid when my filling occurred in October of 2021 (I was well used to Covid and my stress levels have not changed). It is now February and I still cannot chew on that side of my mouth at all, four months after a simple filling, which is causing other issues like biting my lips and tongue accidentally. Now to add insult to injury they sent me a bill for this filling for $1200, almost twice what they quoted me originally and for which I have already paid a portion up front. I can't believe how much they are charging me after being in pain for months after one filling. It's beyond upsetting and, most importantly, I really felt like the dentist was not listening to my concerns or dental problems he caused. Do not go here even for simple dentistry. read more

I strongly recommend Doctor Perry! Not only is he kind and easy to speak to, he communicates back with information that is easy for the general public to understand (which is super helpful when you don't understand what's going on! I mean, you're paying for it!). However, mostly I recommend Doctor Perry because I had been missing a tooth for a little over a year - after one consolation I was back in and out with (and I'm serious) with an even BETTER smile. When called on the day of appointment early morning to cancel an appointment which was made way before the Covid 19 pandemic started... was threatened that I will be charged 50 $ as cancellation fee inspite of telling them me and my family are still practicing social distancing and don't feel comfortable making non essential dental visits yet. Please avoid going here if you want to be treated like a person. I had an appointment I had to cancel at the last minute in November due to my father-in-law passing away. I was told months later that I owed them a $50 late fee and said it was two hours beforehand due to a work emergency. Don't remember that, do remember missing an entire week of work taking care of my grief-stricken wife and our young son. Months later, I've made four phone calls and received three bills after several people told me that they would get back to me. Now apparently, the owner needs to authorize removing a $50 fee for a cleaning I missed. And someone is calling me back in the next week. Dr. Lazowski is a great dentist. The dental staff is great. I have been coming to Longwood dental for my cleanings twice a year for about 5 years now. Aundrea has always been super sweet, friendly, and most importantly, gentle! Cant say enough good things about her--definitely my favorite hygienist of all time! Until recently, I have not had the need for any dental work, but alas, it was time for a filling. The last experience I had about 10 years ago was pretty miserable--i had a total of 6 or 7 fillings done in one week. Some were new, some were being "refurbished" after jobs poorly done, but suffice it to say, sitting in a chair for hours on end listening to that ever so pleasant sound of the drill is kind of traumatizing. So ever since, me and the dental floss have been pretty tight. Anyway, I had been dreading the 8am appointment for days, but it was actually the BEST experience i have ever had in a dentist's chair. EVER. Dr. Wong deserves a few medals and a cookie. First of all, she really took her time injecting the Novocaine, so i barely even felt the needle. second of all, she spent less time drilling than i spent waiting for the drugs to kick in...i was barely 2 songs in on my ipod, when she told me to rinse and that she was done with "part one" and moving on to "part two." say whaaaa??? literally, i was out of there in under 40 mins. Also, props to her for not pushing white fillings, and actually suggesting the silver since the cavity was in a molar in the back. Everyone from the receptionists, to the dental hygienists, to the dentists are professional, capable, and polite. Dr. Laz works efficiently and with clear skill. Vy, who usually performs my regular cleanings, is very personable and skilled. They all know that dentistry makes a lot of patients uncomfortable, and they are very *very* good at putting you at ease. Appointments always start on time (sometimes even a little early). They seem expensive, but I'm not sure how much densitry usually costs. Regardless, if it's for the well-being of my teeth, I will gladly pay a little extra for a top-quality job. I did like Longwood Dental Group. But my recent experience has left me not trusting them anymore. I was in need of 3 dental implants. The office sent a request to my insurance to get an estimate for the work needed. In the meantime, I scheduled a consultation with the dentist to learn more about the dental implant surgery and if I qualify for the treatment. The dentist's assistant called me to tell me I needed an x-ray of my jaw to make sure I had enough bone to have implants. I did that. The day of the consultation, I met with the dentist where I was told that I had enough bone to have dental implants and was asked which ones I wanted done. I was a little caught off guard since I thought it was a consultation but he wanted perform it right then. I knew I wanted it but I still wanted to know more about the process. I had to slow the dentist to ask questions about what he was going to do and the process. I also asked which teeth were covered under my insurance. He answered the dental implant part but let his assistant answer my questions about the insurance. My insurance covers 50% of qualified dental implants. I made a big deal about finding out which teeth were covered because I was going to space out the implants based the dental coverage and making sure I didn't go over my dental coverage for the year. The assistant looked at my insurance's estimate letter and told me all 3 of them were covered which was awesome so I chose my lower right tooth, #30. After the implant, I went to reception, gave them my insurance estimate letter and told them that I had surgery for #30. Was charged 50% of the cost and paid with my flex savings card. This happened in October 2010. I recently got a bill saying that my insurance declined coverage because I got an implant on a tooth that was not covered. It turns out only #14 was covered but at the office I was told that all 3 are covered by insurance. If I had known that only #14 was covered, I would've had the implant for #14 and not #30. Apparently the assistant is not usually the person to talk about insurance. She's a dental assistant and apparently the front desk was suppose to have gone over the insurance part with me. But that's when the process is completely screwed up. I went for a consultation. I didn't know it was going to turn into a implant surgery that day, so it all happened so fast that the front desk was never involved and the assistant who apparently doesn't know about insurance coverage told me that #30 was covered when it wasn't. How was I supposed to know she had no clue? But I don't have proof for that since that was all verbal and the coverage letter sent from my insurance clearly did says only #14 was covered, I have no recourse to argue. I admit that I should've looked at the coverage letter sent by my insurance to double check. But I did ask if I had coverage and if they didn't know the answer, they should've said so and I would've found out from someone else. But at this point there's no way to argue about something that happened verbally months ago. The office clearly screwed up and here is why. If #30 wasn't covered by insurance, then when I was at the front desk, I would've had to pay 100% of that implant instead of only 50%. And if they had done that, I would've been able to say right away that I was told #30 was covered based on what the assistant told me. It would've been much easier to dispute something that happened 20 minutes ago versus months ago. But the front desk didn't charge me 100%. They charged me 50%. They thought #30 was covered too, not just the assistant. They billed the other 50% to my insurance in which it was rejected. On top of that, at the time I had enough money in my flex saving to cover 100% of the implant surgery in October 2010. I ended up having to use the rest of my flex saving from 2010 on stuff from drugstore.com that I didn't really need. The office clearly messed up. I shouldn't have to pay for the other 50% because I would never have gotten implant on #30 when #14 was covered. I would've gotten #14 first. In addition, I no longer can get covered for #14 because I don't have dental insurance now and when I do, #14 won't be covered anymore because #14 has been extracted and new insurance only cover teeth that's there before coverage. So whereas I could've gotten 50% covered for #14, I can no longer now. Another negative side-effect caused by Longwood Dental Group. The office admits some mistake and is giving me 15% off the bill. But honestly that's not good enough. Longwood Dental Group screwed up. I was told about coverage that was apparently the wrong information. And I end up having to pay for that misinformation. How can I go back to get service and ask questions about coverage and feel like what they are telling me is correct? The next time you go get dental service by them and they tell you the service is covered by your insurance, can you trust them? I know I can't. read more

I had been a patient of Longwood Dental for about 5 years. Unfortunately, the service quality has really gone down over the years. Besides the fact that this place is extremely pricy, and as you can read from the reviews, they are very quick to drill and quick to take your money, you would think they'd try to match the cost with the quality. It's not that the dental staff (hygienists and doctors) doesn't do quality work, it's that the administrative staff is apparently left to run the show and they don't seem to care about their patients or their time. When I first became a patient here I needed a lot of work done (I had neglected my teeth for years), and during my time with Longwood Dental I've had numerous cavity fillings (too many to count), a crown replacement, a tooth extraction, and a replacement put in. The staff is always nice. But there have been snags as well. First, was the misquotation by the administration for how much the crown replacement would be. I don't remember exactly but I was asked to pay $1000 more than I was originally quoted. After I expressed my discontent, Longwood dental owned up to their mistake (the person who originally quoted me got fired some time before) and they reimbursed me the cost. Then, there was the time my front tooth got chipped during a tooth extraction. I brought it up, they apologized, and did nothing. It's a very minor chip but you can see it if you look closely. Then, there was the issue with getting my tooth replaced. Sorry, I'm not a dentist and don't know the dentist lingo, so I'll use common terms. This process took several years because at first, we wanted to make sure my insurance money would reboot at the beginning of the year. I would ask for a quote for how much the implant and not hear back from Longwood dental. The next year this would happen again. Then again for the third year. I was really diligent about it this year and after repeated emails to the administrative staff with specific request to contact me and having to do many follow ups, I finally got a quote. I had a short window to get this job done and Longwood dental simply didn't care. I had to aggressively follow with them after they ignored and straight up lied that they had tried to call me (no missed calls on my phone). So, I missed my window of opportunity (as I was between jobs), and had to schedule the procedure during my new work hours, because I was trying to be helpful during this process. The process of getting the implant took several visits, first because they couldn't take out the screw that was in the place of the implant, and then because the lab made the implant improperly. So I had to go back time after time, often during my regular work hours, and just sit there while they discussed what to do and struggled. Once, they kept me there for 2.5 hours (I was scheduled for 1 hour) and were going to keep me there longer if I didn't ask to leave. I was doing this during work hours so you can imagine I didn't want to raise much of a concern at my work over why I was spending so much time away during the day for a dental problem. When I brought the inconvenience of the repeated visits and long duration of the time, they simply said they wanted to do a good job and that these things have to be perfect and that it if it had to take 10 visits, that's how it would have to be. What a crazy rationale. I can imagine having to come back every week for ten years and them using the same inarguable excuse. When I brought up how unpleasant the whole experience was and how I wanted a reimbursement (at least a partial one if possible) or I would find another dentist, they apologized, and refused to offer me any reimbursement. I've been such a frequent customer of theirs over the years and have had tens of thousands of dollars of work there, and they simply didn't want to salvage my relationship with them. I feel ripped off. They just don't value the customer's time at Longwood Dental so I just can't recommend them. With such a skilled dental staff they could really be an exceptional practice with the right administrative staff, but unfortunately they need a lot of work when it comes to customer service. It all comes down to extracting as much money as they can from their patients. They're quick to take your money, but slow at giving their patients the attention they need. The average costs for Silver filling ranges from $110-$195, so you will be paying anywhere from $68-$110 more per tooth at Longwood For Composite fillings (white ones), which are typically more expensive the costs elsewhere ranged from $165-$295. This is cheaper than Longwood charges for Silver, so naturally I chose another provider to get a more cosmetically pleasing look for less than they charged for silver read more

I've been with this group and initially Dr Gordon for 42 years and continued after his retirement with Dr Boschetti with nothing but the best care including Marina, my hygienist. People who come on Yelp to complain on the price of a top notch dental practice or get bent because they need to take X-rays FOR YOUR OWN BEST HEALTH INTERESTS should check out one of the ripoff chains that try to sell you expensive continued work. read more

What a joke and rip-off. Not sure what all the hype is about. They are not that good, they will drain your insurance max before anything. Who charges $480 for a filling??? 1 stars because they do give good teeth cleanings. Otherwise, steer clear of them for fillings and other dental work. They will take a arm and a leg. I got quoted almost 5k for a rootcanel and was told I absolutely needed one...they refused to give me a filling or work on me. I got several other dentists opinions and they told me a rootcanel is always a option but you want to avoid it if you don't need it. I was advised longwood dental has a reputation for charging a ridiculous amount and selling pacient on things they don't need. My bf was also told he needed 2 crowns at 3k each.... when another dentist told him, that's just the more expensive route, and that longwood was just trying to get max $$$ from him. I had gotten a temporary filling for $150. It fell out in 3 days..... I called a month later as I was out of town, the receptionist told me that should not happen and although it's temporary, it's not that temporary. They would not give me my money back, but was told to come in to do a re-do. Guess what? I came in and they told me re-do's are not free. They still had to charge me $150...... but .. the receptionist told me it would be free......... I argued and argued with the manger. Nothing, until I almost lost it and some how they agreed to redo it. Overall, worst dentist experience everrr!!!!! I felt I was lied to and advised on anyway they could make more money. There is only so much I can do as a single customer, but I hope this review will keep you away and look for another alternatives. read more

Not really the most fun thing to write about but I am a fan of this dental office. They treat me with a lot of respect and are clearly very organized. I get more correspondence from them than I do from all my other doctor's combined. The hygienist was friendly and didn't make me dig my nails into my palm once. The doctor was a sweet woman who talked me through the whole process and asked me often how I was doing. I am comfortable there and I think they really care about doing a thorough job. That is pretty much all I ask for with a dentist so I would definitely recommend them. read more

The services provided were good, and I'd recommend the dentist themselves. HOWEVER, you should be very aware of your insurance coverage before seeing this dentist. I felt pressured into getting services (e.g., full films), and was assured my dental insurance would cover 80% of the bill. Not true. In reality it cost me hundreds of dollars to have services done that could have been done anywhere. They got their money, and I'm sure that's all that matters. read more

Great, modern, professional place! When I first arrived a few minutes before my 3 pm check up last Wednesday, I thought they couldn't find my appointment, but they did. I was handed an iPad to fill out some forms and returned to the waiting area to do so. While filling out the forms electronically, I found the staff to be very warm and welcoming to other patients (many of them elderly). After I returned the iPad, I was greeted by Laurie? She took the time to welcome me and gave me a brief tour of the facility. She also handed me a welcome kit with a bottle of water, reusable bottle, and a welcome letter! Andraya (spelling?) was the dental hygenist who cleaned my teeth. She took the time to talk with me about a lot of things, and I agree that it is funny when people who are working in your mouth talk with you. Do you expect me to respond? Nevertheless, Andraya was super professional and friendly. She has a great personality and answered my questions about Invisalign. She took the time to listen to my concerns about bleeding gums, overal health, and teeth alignment. She made suggestions and suggested putting me on email lists for deals and offers in the future. She was great. She showed me the proper way to floss, and overall, made me feel very comfortable. After my check up, Andraya gave me a toothbrush, floss, and toothpaste. The toothbrush and water bottle both had Longwood Dental Group printed on them - shows they really take pride in the place and are willing to spend money to put their name on things. When I checked in via Yelp, I had a promo offer, which the office accepted. This place is incredibly hi-tech. They are on Twitter, Yelp, Facebook, etc. It's a great place for a checkup, and I like that there are specialists within the same group so you don't have to farm out your records.
