We were there over the July 4th weekend and surprisingly many restaurants were closed or closing early for the holiday weekend. The food we had was very good. Trying to be fair in this review - service was kind but very slow, food was good but not spectacular. Small hole in the wall type place. If you are in the mood for Mexican food it'll probably hit the spot, but ask about the wait time before you sit down - people who came in after us ended up leaving because it was so long, people before us were overcharged for their food (in addition to waiting). Kitchen was running slow, and that isn't the server's fault but with kids in tow we would have appreciated a warning. By the time we realized it was going to take a long time it was too late to leave. I ordered the chimichanga, kids had corn dogs and carne asada fries, my husband had tacos. Driving through town on a road trip, and we needed to grab dinner before we stopped for the night. Noticed the employee wasn't wearing a mask or gloves, but that didn't deter us. We ordered meals for 5 people. The food was okay. Got jipped a bit in the sense that we only got 2 tiny tortillas for fajitas when we asked for extra, the enchiladas said they came with 3, and we only got 2. (They were NOT flour.) The waitress was quick to smile and greet me, said it was self seating, which was a plus! Bench seats in the booth are wildly uncomfortable. They fry their own chips, amazing. Don't offer a spicier salsa (boo) it's is complementary so still wonderful. I ordered the tacos and enchiladas combination plate. Allow me to start by saying the order was very filling, hard shell tacos were excellent and plenty with steak however, the enchiladas were greatly lacking. This is a really great place! I've never eaten here before but I'm a truck driver and I had a layover. Since the restaurant is right across the street I decided to give it a try. I ordered the meat quesadilla with ground beef, they were out of ground beef, so offered me steak instead, Upgrade? Yeah for sure! Sopes that are puffy! So good you'll cry. The adovada pork is delicious. Everything they fry here is ridiculously good. The taco salad shell, for example, is more than a vessel. It's awesome. The traditional steak taco rocked as well. And the refried beans. I don't think you can go wrong here. The chips backer refills cost $$$, but they cut and fry the chips in house. The sisters who were there were fabulous. Didn't get to meet the namesake of the restaurant -- but learned a little family history about the spot. It's so easy to get into a rut of hitting the same fast food spots on a long trip -- so I try to try the local flavors when possible and I was really impressed with this one. Not much was open in Colorado with the COVID lock down. So, we tried Jenny's because they weren't scared sheeple cowering from a cold. Was so happy we did. Wonderful food, nice people, excellent service. Best enchilada's and fajita's north of Texas. Reasonable prices and fun people. "Shea, (a.k.a "Not Jenny") was excellent. Funny, friendly, wonderful server. If you happen to be going through Colorado, don't waste your time with Denver, they're closed. Little Mexican diner that used to be an ice cream shop. It's very tiny and not the usual bright colors but that's ok, cuz the people and the food are pretty amazing. Now if you're looking for spicy, you might wanna ask them to kick it up, but if you love flavor then you'll love them. My youngest even loved his cheeseburger. He's very picky and he even loved the green chili smothered fries! Salsa was good. My oldest son devoured his burrito and I loved my chicken enchiladas and steak tacos. Jenny's was a decent Mexican Restaurant. A good place to stop over while traveling. I had some Chalupa's and a Chile relleno. The Chalupa's were pretty tasty. They came with a small salad, guacamole and sour cream. In addition there was refried beans and Spanish rice. The beans and rice were outstanding. I just loved the crunch of the Chalupa's. The Chile relleno was smothered with a green sauce and stuffed inside with ground beef. I though the green sauce was rather bland and did not add to the relleno. Everything was fine until it was time to get the bill. The restaurant got busy and the single waitress was taking care of all the new orders. I got a little antsy because I wanted to hit the road. I finally had to get up and go to the counter so I could pay my bill and get going. All in all, it was ok. I do have to say that the staff was very pleasant and did all that they could to make my dining experience pleasant. read more
