First time visiting this Mexican restaurant in Parker, and I have to say they have something really special going on. From the moment I walked in until the moment I left, I was consistently greeted, checked on, and even had the manager come over to introduce himself and see how everything was going. That level of hospitality really sets a restaurant apart. The service felt more like being welcomed into a friend's home than dining out, which was such a refreshing experience. The fajitas were very tasty and delicious--no complaints at all there. The toasted michelada was okay; I might suggest a salted or Tajín rim to enhance the flavor a bit more. We believe it used to be a jazz wine bar so you will see lots of that decor still around. But it works. There is a stage there probably for that reason. They should use it and put mariachi or bands there at some times. The service is friendly, fast, and kind. The waiter was awesome. The food portions were great. So I have a confession. I have ended up going here twice on accident. I literally thought it was another restaurant when I drove up and saw it was still Mexican, we went in for dinner. The second time we went, we legitimately thought we were going to a place thats actually down the road. I swear, this is what happens when you move across the country and only go places via Waze or memory. I can tell you what business is at the corner of Orleans and Superior in Chicago but can't tell you the name of the street at the end of our neighborhood. Anyway, having grown up in a family that made tostada's practically once a week and tamales on the regular, I know my Mexican food. Now I will say this place is a little more TexMex than I generally prefer but they do it well. The first time we went I ordered a burrito and it showed up covered in green chili which I definitely was not expecting but it ended up being pretty good. I would just ask for the green chili on the side if you're like me expecting a burrito with a tortilla on the outside to show up. The next time we went we got some fajitas and my husband and I both were very pleased with the flavor and the portion. I was chatting with the server and he's from the same state in Mexico as my family so it was nice to know he's familiar with the style cooking I'm used to. He recommended the fajitas and they didn't disappoint. Give them a try and see why they're always busy. Very yummy lunch. Parking was in a smaller lot and there is an outside patio for warmer days. Walked in and seated immediately. I mentioned how I was so cold from being outside and the host was so kind and seated me away from the door. I didn't even ask for that but he did that and I was cozy. I ordered Horchata and was it was brought to me with fresh and crisp chips and a nice spicy salsa. The lunch menus was not expensive at all. I had the carnitas plate and also ordered was the enchiladas plate. That Lucy plate was HUGE! It was the size of a medium pizza and the food delivered to the table quickly . It was DELICIOUS! It wasn't too busy around 1pm and the check was reasonable too. It was only $39 for 2 meals and 2 drinks. I went to McDonald's and it cost me $36. Well Valentine Dinner was truly special tonight at Las Potrancas. The place was packed the service was over the top. Our waiter Louis provided us with some delicious choices for dinner. We selected Steak and Chicken Fajitas, Margaritas, and for dessert we had Sopaipillas. The dinner was so delicious, the atmosphere is so perfect. Went for Father's Day late lunch, wasn't crowded at all. All wait staff were attentive and friendly, food came out quick and delicious. Will definitely be going back, looks like they do mariachi on Monday nights and they had a stage as well. Las Potrancas was part of the Agave Challenge for Denver in June 2025. They had two drinks that were part of the challenge and I opted for the Mariachi. It had just the right mix of sweet, sour, and spicy. We only had drinks but many people were ordering the fajitas as the smoke wafted around the room. Murals adorn the walls--many of which are famous blues artists such as Billy Holiday and BB King--which are left over from when the location was known as The Blue Note. They were very busy. We used to love going here every Tuesday. They have a happy hour for three dollar a taco and it was really great then all of a sudden last Tuesday we show up and oh no the happy hours only from 3 to 6 PM and they forced put a 20% gratuity on our check the service was terrible. The potatoes that were part of my husband's meal were sour and gone bad. We told him he's like ok then you don't have to eat that part. Gauc- fast, flavorful and plentiful! The queso- a bit of a kick, smooth, and came out with the gauc- both didn't last at our table! Then our server was HOPPIN!! But never left us wanting. He was FABULOUS! I ordered the molcojete (sp?) which I always get at Mexican restaurants and I LOVED that this place offered protein options!!! So great I could pick how many and which ones! We stopped by here for dinner for my husband's birthday at the recommendation of one of his coworkers and I think we found our new favorite local Mexican restaurant. The packed parking lot and tables were a good indication we had chose a good place to eat. The Prickly Pear Margaritas are made with fresh prickly pear and not the premade stuff from the store and let me tell you it makes all the difference. The margaritas are strong but they come in several sizes so you can pick your poison. My quesabirria (birria quesadilla) was really yummy. My husband was raving about his carne asada tacos and my dad really liked the fajitas Acapulco. Everything that arrived at our table was fresh and full of flavor. We then tried the sopapillas and the flan for dessert. The sopapillas were just alright but the flan was delicious (the secret ingredient is a splash of Bailey's). The general manager is very friendly and extremely engaging and I would come back just to chat with him. You can truly tell he loves his job and cares about the customers. He brought my husband a sample of the blood orange margarita to try when he realized it was his birthday (it was strong but had amazing flavor). Beyond the rice and great refried beans, the food really fell short. The red enchiladas sauce was bland, with under seasoned ground beef, whats normally a standard missed expectations. The mole lacked the depth and richness I search for. I hate to say it, but It reminded me of store bought mole. The overall experience was pleasant with friendly staff and service. Oh. My. God. This place was so flippin good and I wish we had come here sooner. The food is great, service is great, and inside has a fun vibe. Everyone loved their meal and my husband and I devoured our plates. The salsa they bring out was awesome and had a nice kick to it. I had the Birria Chimichanga and dear lord that thing was so good. The meat inside has the birria flavor which made it next level and the green chili on it was so good. My husband had the carne asada and it was also very good. The plates are huge, the food is delish, the margs are some of the best in Colorado, and the service is outstanding every single time. If you like a less sweet margarita, order the skinny marg. My sister ordered a watermelon marg last weekend and it was so good. The portions are massive and easily shared. Get the Marleen combo and add a crispy taco for a shared meal with your significant other/friend when you're hungry for everything on the menu but can't decide. A menu secret is the Taquiza. I think the plate is 14 inches in diameter and you get five LARGE street tacos with salsa, fresh chopped cilantro and onion: carnita, chicken, carne asada, chorizo and pastor. Visited Las Potroncas with family after hearing rave reviews from friends. We were not disappointed. The place was very busy and the staff was working hard to keep the cycle of customers moving. The menu is pretty diverse including traditional Mexican to Tex-Mex items as well as Mexican seafood dishes. Various combination plates, appetizers, deserts, and a large bar with multiple Mexican, domestic and craft beers on tap. The size of the food portions was unreal. Much larger than other Mexican restaurants and the prices were fair. The fajitas looked fantastic and were piled high on the skillet plate. The overall food taste was good, not outstanding. Some dishes seemed a bit over spiced - not spicy hot just too much spice overtaking the dish (e.g., the pork tamale tasted like nutmeg or all spice). The facility itself is well decorated and features a "dia de los Muertos" theme. The place had an electric vibe! Having that said it was loud throughout the restaurant and hard to hear our party throughout dinner. One other note is the chips and salsa are specifically noted in the menu as limited to one serving. They charge for extra chips and or/salsa which seems a bit cheap all things considered. We'd come back based on the diverse menu, portion size (value), fun environment, and attentive staff. read more
