So is the pressure of fast appointment turnover. While I did experience waiting times I never felt that I got less than the doctors full attention and the staff were as considerate as the pace of the office allowed. In July of 2015 I lost the ability to walk or stand after experiencing relapsing and returning back pains for almost two years. I had xrays and it was discovered I had advanced cancer which had collapsed a large vertebrae and compromised a majority of others as well as invading my ribs and pelvic bone. In the hospital the neurosurgeon on call 'assigned' to me was horribly negative and unhelpful, to the point of telling me he saw nothing he could do. He would check in every couple of days, say he was still thinking about it but had no progress. Dr. Stern was recommended by several of the nursing staff and when consulted for a second opinion he wasted no time in reviewing tests already done and ordering more comprehensive imagining, Within 24 hours he had a treatment plan and had my surgery scheduled immediately. He promised - nothing - but thanks to him and an incredible therapy team today I am able to walk. I still have the cancer to fight and have an amazing oncologist for that but every followup I had with Dr. Stern was thorough and he was very concerned with my therapy progress. Even though I only saw him for stitch removal and a couple of monthly followups he consulted weekly with the physical therapists and reviewed my charts regularly. As to scaring, considering they opened up my back from nearly my tailbone to the middle of my shoulderblades I'm happy with the scar.

My first appointment was seriously like 1 hour long and that was all time spent talking with the doctor. OMG - when was the last time a doctor spent more than say 5-10 minutes in the same room as you? For me....never. Anyways, without going into the details of all of my crazy medical history (small tidbit: I grew up in a Federally declared toxic dump heap next to a lead smelting plant, battery factories, and lead and mercury tainted soil/drinking water -yippeee!!) I will say that the doctors at this office have shown a lot of compassion and done a great job of addressing my health issues. This is the type of medical treatment that I've been looking for my whole life. I highly recommend this place to anyone else that is tired of traditional, assembly line patient care and is seeking a more personal, holistic approach to healing.

And last minute cancellations and no one is covering them. The ADA parking is out of code with the federal and state mandates. So if that is something you need, plan for extra time to find a reasonable parking spot, bring a driver or use a ride share. Parking is atrocious for anyone needing ADA parking. This used to be the premiere health care, or at least second. And they are consistently slipping from that. The level of customer service at the front desk, the amount of time the doctors actually spend with you, makes me wonder if they have switched to a for profit healthcare system. Not horrible. I got a CT scan here and Dr. MacEwan explained the scan to me which was cool to see. My left maxillary sinus was fully opaque and needed surgery. I had never had surgery before, and was really worried and had tons of questions. Dr. MacEwan not only did amazing with the surgery (my recovery was way faster than I expected, I felt pretty much normal after 5 days), but was also very patient with all my questions and concerns! I'm also not a huge fan of having to rely on daily meds like nasal sprays, and she was understanding and willing to work with this.
