This review is only for their barbecue, which they have on select days. Mostly near holidays on Friday and Saturday. The barbecue items were excellent we had beef, ribs, pork, ribs, barbecue chicken, legs, and thighs, and barbecued sausage. They did not have any other parts of the chicken except for legs and thighs, which we do prefer white meat, but it was very good. I also got some mac & cheese, which my husband liked but I was not a fan. Also, beef ribs are extremely hard to find and they only have them if they get a shipment prior to bbq days so you need to call first. It was absolutely packed at 11:30 on a Saturday. I do not advise you go near lunchtime unless you're ready for a crowd . Previously I had purchased some knockwurst that was on special . We are only used to the Jewish version at Sherman's deli and these were just terrible. I give them one star. I also purchased some veal shanks which no body has and they were pretty good , no complaints. So bottom line is you have to try different things to see what's best for you. But I think it's the best bbq in Coachella valley! read more

This is my second time getting a flower arrangement creation from Miguel at Jensen's. His arrangements are unique and beautiful. He is creative and flexible and the customer service is top notch. You wouldn't think it but some of the best flower arrangements in the desert can be purchased at Jensen's. read more

May 2026: I went to Jensen's, in the middle of a move, and for convenience, I bought a LEAN CUISINE Ravioli out of their freezer department. I took it home and microwaved it. It tasted awful. I checked the "BEST BEFORE" date and it said SEPTEMBER 2024. I am shocked, disappointed, and astounded that this high end market would have such an expired item for sale. I spoke to the manager. He refunded my $4.79. BIG DEAL!!! Beware of their old expired inventory!!!! read more

We're from chicago and we eat a lot of steak but the sirloin steak we got from behind the meat counter and grilled for 9 minutes was off the hook awesome. Tasty, tender, flavorful I wish I had more time and people to feed here, and the tri-tip looked awesome. This steak was better than any high end restaurant at 1/5 the price. Stay home and throw one on the grill !!!! No need to pay ridiculous prices at Gelsons. read more

It's definitely one of my favorite grocery stores. They carry a lot of items, not carried by other stores. For example, they carry some items from Sees Candies. And they carry certain frozen desserts and ice creams not found elsewhere. I especially like their bakery and their deli. I am in there several times a week just to buy the seafood salad from the deli. It is truly delightful. And their blue cheese potato salad is awesome. The bakery has wonderful rum cake. Lots of cookies and breakfast rolls, too. Occasionally, they do a barbecue out front. It's such a great store. read more

Nicer grocery store in the Palm Desert area. It IS expensive, as others have noted. It happened to be the closest store to the rental home where we stayed the week of Thanksgiving. I think my poor husband almost had a stroke over some of the prices. The first morning we were at the rental, Dear Hubby and I went shopping early to get a lot of the basics needed to make breakfasts and have other staples for the days we were in the area. With 9 people to feed, it wasn't a small shopping venture. At 7:00 in the morning, we pretty much had the store to ourselves. The upbeat music had me about ready to break into a swing dance as I made my way around the unfamiliar layout. A couple times I needed to ask for directions to various items, and encountered very friendly staff members to help with that. If I lived in the area, I'd probably be searching for more reasonable options, but it was nice to be in clean, well-stocked surroundings. read more

This review is for the bakery, as after many recommendations I decided to order a BDAY Carrot cake for a friend. I had never really frequented this particular location, as I used to live near the one that was sold in RM. When I entered I was floored at how large this store actually is, basically a full blown store with all the necessities. The bakery had quite a bit of temptations as I ordered the cake, so I dabbled with a small XMAS cookie and a piece of Baklava. DELISH!! Anyhoo, I picked up the cake on Sunday and we cut that sucker open after we had some pizza & salad. Let me tell you, the cake was excellent. Yes, it had the cream cheese frosting but it wasn't overbearing and it wasn't slapped on with a trowel. It was present but it was not consuming at all. Same goes for the innards of the carrot cake. All the ingredients were there but the sugar meter wasn't BLARING with 1/2 or even 1/4 of my piece still sitting on the plate. It was very nice to enjoy a FRESH carrot cake that didn't seem dry or over packed with too much sugary sweetness, although you know it was hiding. Yes, there are other spots I could have gotten a really good cake for cheaper, but I was happy, exposing myself to this bakery and store. I will not hesitate to visit in the future even if I have Bristol Farms at a stone's throw from our casa. read more

Jensen's is an interesting store. They have a very good Bircher shop, along with service counter deli. The selection is good, not great on the grocery side. I visited each aisle and didn't really see anything that you couldn't find much cheaper at Ralph's, Walmart, Stater Brothers or Vons. If I want to spend more, and price is not an issue, I would rather shop at Gelson's or Bristol Farms for a better selection of different, or unusual items that you cannot find at the other chains. Jensen's is local, and family owned which is nice. I wonder how they compete with the larger chains along with Gelson's and Bristol Farms though. read more

Today is my 61st birthday- February 3. Valentines month. I went to Jensen's to buy myself a small cake. There was only one person in the bakery- an older woman. I pointed to the cake I wanted and asked her if she could write my name on it. She said No. She then asked if I'd like to pay for it there. I said Yes- thank you. She then asked cash or credit card. I handed her my card and she pushed the cake towards me and said "it probably looks cuter without a name anyway". So much for customer service. I came home, put some little balloons on it and enjoyed the rest of my day, but I will be shopping at the Palm Springs store from now on. read more

It's like the best of the old neighborhood markets that virtually don't exist anymore; that is, this store offers outstanding personal attention and service in every department (particularly in my case -- the produce department). Groceries and bottled water that are top quality and hard to find are carried here. I've found that the greens in "clamshell" containers last longer than from anywhere else. Jensen's is not the cheapest store in town. I would say it's at the high end on price. There are mainly elderly folks in Mercedes who shop here. However, the store is worth the extra money if you want high-quality meats, seafood, produce, wine, and bakery. I buy those types of items here and pick up the rest of my stuff (ketchup, cereal, coffee, yogurts...) at less expensive places nearby. Customer service is also very good. They are never overly busy (high prices) so lines are short and there's always parking. Again, not the place to do your big shopping, but it's perfect for meats, produce, wine, etc. read more

@ Jensen's Palm Desert. I usually get food from the deli to just warm up. Thursday before last I bought turkey meatloaf - warmed it up. It was awful- it didn't look like real food or meat. Disgusting i could barely eat three bites. Always put Jensen 's a cut above a lot of other stores. like the food in the deli, although terribly overpriced, but I still felt you get what you paid for but this is just totally unacceptable.I also was very ill the next day for three days after eating that turkey. An overall fine grocery market. The fish is from Santa Monica Seafood Co. The staff is always helpful, from butcher to bakery and in between. I've ordered custom birthday cakes and they were delicious, creative and reasonably priced. In the fish department, if they don't have what you are looking for, they offer to bring it in. The produce is always very fresh. You'll find those hard to find ingredients, like fresh horse radish! I know I'm always getting top quality food and service! read more

Jensen's Grocery has always been one of our favorites but each time we drop in to shop we are even more pleasantly surprised by the excellent service and the attention to detail that everyone in the store delivers. This time we dropped by the meat counter where not only did we receive some great steak recommendations but we also had a very attentive butcher clean and devein some jumbo shrimp. Good place to come during your lunch break. Besides the deli, the make tacos, breakfast sandwiches, burritos, etc. The breakfast sandwich was okay, a bit too eggy for me (scrambled eggs were a bit over cooked). But everything is always fresh. They have fresh sushi and a nice little salad bar. The bakery section is good too! They have a small selection of macarons, and other pastries. We were in the Palm Desert area, staying at our timeshare, and I decided not to cook one evening. I was hunting down ready made food that I could either eat immediately or just warm up for dinner. This desert gem more than helped me out. We had cold poached salmon, stuffed artichokes, Cole slaw and chicken teriyaki on skewers. (I know... strange combination... but it worked!). Of course, poached salmon is never complete without a creamy dill sauce. So, I asked one of the store associates for help in finding some. After a few minutes of diligently searching and giving me several options to choose from, they helped me locate a sauce that didn't break the budget. They were so helpful and friendly! Dinner was delicious! I love this store. It reminds me of a Whole Foods or Trader Joe's type of atmosphere but on a smaller scale. The only downside was the price. Dinner was about as expensive as eating out in a restaurant...minus the tip. But the quality of the food and selection was excellent. I'm now a huge fan of this store. I'll be back again, before the week is out! read more

Went in today to get some salads from the deli and some muffins at the bakery. The deli did not look like it used to years ago. The salads looked old and the bowls were almost empty. The inside of the deli case looked messy with pieces of loose food from the salads all around. The bakery had no muffins and the package of danishes that I picked up said sell before February 20 and today was the 21st. Very disappointing and I will not be back. read more

The place is incredible, the selection is incomparable and the people who prepare the food wear their masks off their face in a way that while they're preparing the food they're actually breathing all over everything you order. Surely there's a way to supply Jensen's employees with masks that fit in a way that respects both their customers and their employees.
