    Extra wide, well stocked aisles

Having heard about Aldi for years, but having none available where I live, when I saw the sign I just had to wander in and check it out. I was expecting the store to have the look and feel of a Trader Joe's but it was more like a Bargain Market. The footprint of the store was square with extra wide aisles, well stocked. For each categories, the selection, the choices, was on the small side. An Aldi brand and a national brand; I guess that is their model. Prices are low. Lots of organic veggies and fruits, prepackaged. Same with cheese and meats. Crackers and snacks. Small selection of wine, beer and hard cider. For me the layout was a bit random but I'm sure if I shopped there regularly it would become easier to find things. While I can't leave a Trader Joe's without lots of random purchases because the items are so unique to their brand, and are delicious, I did not find my experience at Aldi's to be the same.

I had never shopped at Aldi, but was curious what all the buzz was about in their new TV ad. It was a very interesting visit. So interesting how the shelves are stacked. Nothing like my other stores. But I was truly amazed at the prices. I'm used to spending $4 or $5 for a can of soup. Here I found them for 39cents and 75 cents per can. For 2023 that is an amazing price. Other items throughout the store were also incredibly cheap. I saw only one employee in the store, and he was the lone checker. Don't bother trying to ask for help locating something. There is no one in the store! They really cut back on staff here. Very interesting.

Stopped by after a hike to get ingredients for dinner. They have fresh produce and alot of unique snacks. It was very peaceful shopping here, I will definitely return.

I was lucky enough that the week I went they had special items for babies, so we stocked up on organic baby clothes, food, diapers, books, all at a fraction of the price it costs elsewhere!

I had read about Temalpakh Farm and we have wanted to visit for a while…read more Today we drive out to the farm, which is just south of Augustine Casino on Van Buren. The physical farm is very beautiful with fruit trees everywhere. The market is clean and bright, full of items I would like to buy and also give as gifts from local farmers. I saw vegetables and handcrafted oils, soaps, native basketry, and the beautiful smoothie bar. I bought the most fragrant kale, plump green onions, russet potatoes, berry with ginger jam and a spicy hot sauce. The farm brings in products from other local businesses. The farm is easy to reach from Indio or Palm Desert. Having organic treasures like this is such a treat. Do check it out.

I know, I know, there's probably no chance that you're out this way, in the middle of the desert,…read moreon a native land site with nothing around. But if you are, Temalpakh Farm has extremely fresh, home grown produce and some other products produced by fellow Native Americans from the Western US. How did I get here? I went to Desert X 2025 (which I adore) and one of the art installations was on this site. Yes, they make you drive to weird and wonderful places for the biennial art scavenger hunt. The farm site has a new parking lot, an elevated outdoor seating area that is great for hosting company events or parties (as long as it is not in the hot summer months) and even a pond with a water fountain that might double as part of their irrigation system. When I was was there in May, some of the seasonal produce included heirloom tomatoes, squash blossoms, butter lettuce and artichokes. What could possibly be the best thing in the farmer's market is their smoothie stand. This being the palm desert, a majority of their freshly made smoothies have dates in them! Palm Tree Brew (coffee cold brew, unsweetened almond milk, banana, dates, mesquite powder, honey, date syrup, salt) - Okay, a coffee date shake is not for everyone, but if that's your thing, they make a great one. It's a perfect balance of everything, you can taste the coffee, the dates, the banana, the honey. All the ingredients were fresh, served smooth blended, nice and cold. A safer bet for most would be to stick with one of the other fruity date shakes here. Palm Tree is general date shake, Berri Crunch has mixed berries and dates, the Hulk has dates, spinach, kale, carrots, avocado, apple juice and pineapple juice, Green Feather has dates, banana, apple, avocado, kale, spinach and Farm's Dragon has dragon fruit, dates, pineapple, banana, chia/flaxseed and shredded coconut. This farm is under the same ownership group as the local Native American casino nearby. If you happen to be near the area, check out this farmer's market!

Well this was my first time here and I was quite impressed. The way they have it played out, from fall to late spring, the market is held outdoors in a parking lot. As it starts to heat up as it does in the desert, the market is then moved inside to another location. I love how that whole concept. Farmers market tends to be outdoors which I love but when it's 115 out, it's better for everyone and all the produce to be indoors. Still have a market but working with the weather. There's plenty of parking right across the street which does have some covered spot as well as the lot that's right behind it. It says no pets but I've seen some walking around. Doesn't bother me as I have a little one. They do have an impressive selection of produces with many vendors. A lot of the same things but you get that pretty much at all farmers market. It's like a maze in a sense but very well organized. Only downfall, I love fresh flowers but there was only one vendor. Good for them as they'll be the main supplier but I do like to have options. Of course loads of fruit and berries which is great. A bakery vendor that has amazing baked good that morning. A bit pricey but really good. Just like pretty much all the market, you'll have your fresh fruit, produce straight from the farm, there's eggs, juices, homemade good, fresh baked items and so on. Going toward the back is where the food vendors are located. Grab some breakfast while you're shopping. They also have some tables set up for you to use. Also live music was happening. It's a pretty great one in my opinion and I'm glad to know about it.

The store is on the northeast corner of Jackson and Avenue 50. {If you don't want to have heart palpitations, come in from Calhoun Street going south and turn right on Avenue 50, and right into the lot on the corner of Jackson because the cars from the two two-lane roads hustling at that Stop Sign are enough to raise your blood pressure a lot.} We saw displays of the most beautiful produce inside the door. Plump oranges, zucchinis, broccoli, cucumbers and many other items show off their freshness and aroma. We found cucumbers, zucchini, carrots and the most fragrant strawberries ever. A bottle of Pico Pica hot sauce rounded out the purchase.
