Rated within its niche, our meal deserves every one of its five stars for the authenticity, quality, flavor and quantity. Even its location just off the city center--within a Mexican grocery store-- added to the experience. One server/cashier and one cook handled the small dinner crowd very well. We had heard raves about their salsa so we expected a bowl of salsa with our chips. Instead we got squeeze bottles, one orange, one green. The green salsa had some kick, and the orange had wonderful layers of flavor. Although we did not need it, we noticed a bar for extra toppings. In 2025, most of the entrees seem to be in the $14 to $16 range. Again, the quantity of food was way more than we could eat in one meal. I originally told my companion we were not leaving until I ate every delicious bite of my nachos. That proved impossible. Since we were traveling we could not take any leftovers home, so I mourned the deliciousness I left behind. read more

Absolutely delicious. I had the beef plate, and though I was warned it would be spicy I found it to be mild (though very flavorful!) No one thing stood out above the rest; everything was consistently high quality. Would stop here again eagerly! read more

Simply the best Mexican food ever! They use real ingredients and when you walk into the grocery store even.. You leave with a beautiful smell that follows you to your car! One thing tho.. They should be more clear of prices and clear in English on the menu. if you want authentic Mexican food. You have to go here! read more

Super good! The owner is super nice and love chatting with him. The only down side we were charged for waters and that I super surprised. Now partly I think that was because there was a language barrier, and that is completely understandable. My boyfriend and I were staying in a neighboring town on vacation and looking for some dinner. I yelped some restaurants, saw this place, and we decided to give it a try. SO GLAD WE DID!!! It was really easy to miss, a very small place that is also part of a mexican grocery store, but the food was incredible. They even had fresh baked bread and homemade jam to sample. And at the end of our meal they brought us out a complimentary fruit plate full of fresh pineapple, blueberries and apples. The place was cozy and friendly and the chef even came out to chat with us. We got 3 beef tacos -- which were amazing - and the "Veggie Lover" which we devoured so quickly I dont even know what was on it. I highly recommend this place if you're in the area. Had a bean and chorizo burrito from Ahi Chihuahua today. I can honestly say I've never had one exactly like this one before! And I mean that in a GOOD way. This is not your standard Americanized Tex Mex burrito. It was made on a 12 inch flour tortilla with creamy, savory refried beans and chorizo that was crumbly, a little crispy, and well-spiced. They take the whole thing and sort of pan fry it so the outside of the burrito is crisp and brown, too! I loved the slightly spicy green salsa that came as a condiment. The place was clean and lady who helped us was very friendly and efficient. I loved my burrito and enjoyed browsing through the Mexican groceries while we waited. They carry lots of things you can't find around these parts if you like to cook-- crema, chiles, spices, Mexican cheeses, beans, dried hominy corn, good tortillas, masa flour, etc. If you haven't checked out Ahi Chihuahua yet, you are really missing out on something authentic and delicious!!! I didn't even mention that the prices are also pretty darned low. What more could you ask? read more

I work right across the street from this place. So, when I was on days I would eat here frequently. I absolutely love their food. You get big portions for your money and the food tastes great. I usually either get the steak burrito or steak tacos. For around $10 you can either get one burrito (which is very large) that comes with a side of rice and refried beans or you can get 3 tacos with the same sides. They also come with 2 different salsas to our over the to or dip in to. In my book, this is a solid 4 stars. read more

After driving by the place for several years, today we stopped and ate lunch. My, oh my, it was like going to someone's house for Mexican food. Our waitress/owner was friendly and efficient. The restaurant shares it's space with a market full of Mexican and American items. The experience was surprisingly delicious. My burrito was made with beans and chorizo. The owners' daughter prepared the food using the recipes of her grandmother. The green and red sauce served with our chips was full of flavor. Green is hot and red is mild. Loved the green! As a courtesy to first time customers, our waitress treated us to sides of refrieds and rice. Both were delicious and authentic. Next time, we will check out the tacos, which are the daily special. read more

WOW! Totally unexpected dining experience! The food was amazing... we were passing through between Toledo and Chicago and I searched for Mexican food in Angola, IN... I'm so happy that Ahi Chihuahua came up... I ordered Chicken Mole and it was the BEST I've ever had, my husband could not finish his beef tacos and my daughter, who ordered chipolte tacos was the winner of the clean plate club! I hope I have the opportunity to come back soon - I may just need to jump on the Harley this summer and drive through just for the food!!! read more

Amazing food and friendly people. Grew up working on an apple orchard in west Indiana and worked many years with 3 families from Mexico. The food here took me back to those home cooked meals I shared with them after a long day of work. The food at Ahi Chihuahua is the real deal. Fresh, flavorful and huge portions. A+. It's a true "mom and pop" place and the service was courteous and unobtrusive. The grocery is wonderful as well and gave the opportunity to pick up some Mexican delicacies for my weekend at the lake. Most authentic Mexican food around. Everything I have had from there is absolutely delicious. The kitchen is part of a Mexican convenient store and there are a few tables to sit and eat that I have never sent it however I have gotten food from there to go multiple times and it has been awesome. The owner and main cook are absolutely amazing and are great local people to support! read more

I happened upon this place for lunch while working in the area and had THE BEST Mexican food ever! I ate chicken chipotle tacos with rice & beans - OUTSTANDING flavor!! Perfect lunch portions. I cannot wait to go back for the brisket tacos! Smokes 'em Sat and serving 'em on Monday...get the brisket while you can because they sell out quick!! Do yourself a favor and stop in and enjoy GREAT FOOD served in a pleasant family owned place! Only problem is I wish I lived closer so I could eat here more often. read more

Seriously, this place is a gem! Everything is authentic and made from scratch! The salsa is addictive, and their corn tortillas are the bomb. The only way to improve the food would be to get a beer permit and pair the awesome food with a cold Mexican beer. read more

We love Ahi Chihuahua! Karen and Joe are sweet and generous and their food is fantastic. It doesn't look like much, but the food belies the setting. The building is mainly a bodega, but there is a seating area surrounded by Karen's lovely paintings. They happily accommodate our children and their prices are extremely reasonable. The only complaint we've ever had was that my husband found a small chicken bone in his taco, but as someone who regularly picks chicken carcasses (and who found a small chicken bone in my own homemade soup today!), I don't judge that small infraction too harshly. I've been here a few times now because I keep hoping they were just having a bad day and the food wasn't as good as it usually is. The thing is, this is not authentic Mexican food ie. authentic tacos are not topped off with lettuce, tomato, and shredded cheese. The three of us (me, my wife, daughter) stopped by on long trip east on the Interstate this summer, drawn by the glowing reviews on Yelp. The restaurant is really a local bodega with a few tables, run by a very friendly and welcoming Mexican-American couple. The usual Mexican fare, enchiladas, tacos, burritos and so on, but the food is very well prepared, home cooked and tasty, much better than what you would get in a commercial Mexican restaurant in the US. Large servings, very inexpensive, tasty food, a lot of calories but what the heck. We had a great lunch and a fine time talking with the owners, and a great time afterwards looking around the store. This place is a real *find* for travelers who are willing to drive a few miles from the interstate to the center of town. read more

What a find! This rather traditional Mexican bodega, restaurant is a hidden treasure. Today I ventured into town to try Ahi Chihuahua. The kitchen is run by a lovely señorita. My odd request that they prepare my chicken enchilada dinner to be cooked at home, was well received and directions were followed to the letter. I finished half of my dinner, which was perfectly savory with a touch of heat. The rice and beans were yummy, just right. The dinner was huge, and inexpensive. The food was not ok it wasn' t authentic Mexican food. The beans tasted burned and not good. This is actually a store not a restaurant. not many sitting. I came in one day to buy something and they were serving people. These people went to cook in the back. I waited along time at the register no one came. so i left store. Bad service. I bought tortillas one time and they came out to be moldy and gross. I bought other items there when i noticed the were expired, also the mark up for items are ridiculous.......there were aldi items double the price. Never went back again. read more
