SLAM HORRIBLE!!!! I came home to GI for a visit and my folks wanted to try something new. I had the taste for Jamaican so we tried this spot. The establishment is a small bldg on Grant Street that needs major overhaul. It needs a good clean up. We thought the place was burning down as there was smoke filling the waiting area while we placed our order. The attendant wasn't friendly and the food was awful. The jerk chicken tasted burned and so did the greens. Mac and cheese was soupy and bland. This is by far some of the worst Caribbean food I've ever had. My dad said the ox tails were decent but he said the place looks unsanitary so he won't be eating there again. Save your money and go somewhere that serves better selections.

Terrible! I ordered 3 dinners. Curry goat, steamed cabbage, rice and peas. Horrible! The goat was little dry cubes of meat with no curry gravy at all. The cabbage and rice were not properly seasoned and seemed old. They did not have half the things on their menu. I will never go there again. read more

I have been eating here for about three years, food was always good . for the last month there has been a guy working there with a very nasty attitude not to mention his hygiene is not that of a person you would want to touch your food he is smart mouth, slow has the personality of a slugg and I personally would not go in when he is there the last time he had four ppl walk out because he never greeted them, or even approached the window to take an order!!! yes he has nasty facial hair and wears glasses he is always on his phone and has no respect for ppl spending there money read more

Wish I could give it a negative star. Called ahead to order and then had to wait because worker can't chew gum and walk at the same time. Jerk turkey burger was HORRIBLE!!!!! Just pre-made patty with jerk sauce on top. Service is beyond poor. Don't waste your time here. read more

Wasn't terrible but it wasn't great, and it's definitely not authentic jerk chicken. I ordered the jerk wings they seemed over cooked on the outside and undercooked inside. The cabbage was really good, actually the best thing on the plate but it still wasn't authentic Jamaican style cabbage. I only gave it 3 stars because I was expecting authentic jerk and Jamaican food. read more

This was my first and last time going here. My co-workers warned me that I would not like what they serve here at this place. Absolutely nasty/disgusting food!!!!!!! The food is not seasoned. The hot sauce taste like spicy water with coloring. My food was very dry and the manager had the nerve to say he just opened. I dont care if you just opened, make sure you are serving food that is edible. The Jerk N Go in Merrillville is absolutely delicious and will definitely go back there. read more

In my quest of visiting all the jerk chicken joints in NWI, I came across this place today! I will say, like many others, this place is a bit overpriced! The quality of food, was questionable. I ordered the jerk wings & although the great spicy flavor that I love in jerk chicken was there, the wings were by far the smallest I have ever seen!! Another downer was the watered down "spicy soy" like sauce that they serve with it! I would come here again, if I am in the area, to try some other items on the menu, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit this place again! read more

Our bill came to $190.63, and we were surprised to see a group gratuity added for only two people. The food was a huge disappointment. The oxtails and rice were cold, the macaroni was completely tasteless, the lamb chops were extremely dry, and the jerk chicken wings tasted old. After waiting nearly two hours, this was unacceptable. When we told the manager about the wings, he insisted on remaking them. When we asked about a refund because of the quality of the food, he told us they do not issue refunds. Instead of showing concern about our experience, he also made jokes about how much food I ordered. I felt judged and uncomfortable, which made an already disappointing experience even worse. Between the nearly two-hour wait, cold food that had to be microwaved, poor food quality, the unexpected group gratuity for just two people, and the way our concerns were handled, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had. After spending almost $200, I expected much better food and customer service. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this restaurant. I just don't understand after having to wait two hours. How are you gonna give me cold food then go microwave it how I know I still had a bite out of the lamb chop.

This is the best meal we've had within a few miles of I-80, and we drove from Pennsylvania to California and back. I ordered oxtails--they were delicious. My side of collard greens was cooked in a nice spicy broth, and the plantains were great too. My husband ordered jerk chicken, which he said was awesome, and sides of mac n cheese and collard greens. I appreciate how convenient it was to stop here on our road trip. Note to those who are traveling: it is indeed a to-go establishment so consider that when you're looking to dine. read more

The. Best. Chicken. I. Have. Had. In. My. Life. Period. I recommend 2 jerk chickens for a hungry family of 4 because they also come with boxes of fries and delicious sauce. Extremely nice staff and great service contrasts with a little bit of a bad neighborhood. It's quick easy and not at all pricy and I recommend it for anyone who likes chicken. read more

This is truly an authentic Jamaican and soul food place! Great customer service to match the great tasting food. Oxtails w/ rice and beans and Mac and cheese is a hit! Definitely will be returning to get some more. read more
