I will never return to Jerk & Go in Merrillville on US 30. My party of two waited almost two hours before our food was finally served. When it arrived, every single dish was cold. The manager had to take the food to the back and microwave it before bringing it back to us. We ordered two oxtail dinners ($35 each), jerk lamb chops ($36), chicken Alfredo pasta ($28.50), jerk chicken wings ($12.50), a Calypso drink ($3), and a Corona ($5). Our bill came to $190.63, and we were surprised to see a group gratuity added for only two people. The food was a huge disappointment. The oxtails and rice were cold, the macaroni was completely tasteless, the lamb chops were extremely dry, and the jerk chicken wings tasted old. After waiting nearly two hours, this was unacceptable. When we told the manager about the wings, he insisted on remaking them. When we asked about a refund because of the quality of the food, he told us they do not issue refunds. Instead of showing concern about our experience, he also made jokes about how much food I ordered. I felt judged and uncomfortable, which made an already disappointing experience even worse. Between the nearly two-hour wait, cold food that had to be microwaved, poor food quality, the unexpected group gratuity for just two people, and the way our concerns were handled, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had. After spending almost $200, I expected much better food and customer service. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this restaurant. I just don't understand after having to wait two hours. How are you gonna give me cold food then go microwave it how I know I still had a bite out of the lamb chop. read more

They charged $12 for (4) party jerk wings-real little. I thought they would have at least been the regular size. I had the oxtails, they were ok, could have been more tender and the rice was a lil mushy. My mom had the curry chicken, she said it was good. I'll try it once more for another go round. read more

After sitting & waiting on my food for an hour they gave me the wrong food then took it back after I ate out of it... What make it bad is I told all of them plus the manager I ate out of that food... The one girl who took it said so what she didn't care so i just though she was going to trash it... The customer sitting next to me made eye contact after we saw her place it on the counter with two other plates that just came out the kitchen. I then went to the manger (Taylor) and said hey i ate out of that plate. so five minutes later i saw her take that food to a customer table that was waiting on there food. I then told them too cash me out and i went to that customer and told them i ate out of the plate they just received... That nite i make a Facebook post to try to get in touch with the owner. His daughter which is the manager i told that i ate out of the plate got on my post say that i was lying nd they showed the customer the food i ate out of.. Food decent. Hit or miss since they stingy with their scoops when you purchase sides. They never pack them weak trays. Everyime you go in to order there's always a f'ing DJ playing extremely loud music that its hard for both you and the person taking your order to hear each other. Just stop it with the DJ. People don't like that. Stop trying make it ghetto and you'll get a ton more business. read more

This place needs to be owned by Keyshauna. She's a damn beast. She came in to get her check and ended up stating to help. It took them an hour and a half to make my order. They said they were short staffed but the owners were sitting there eating and watching their staff struggle. The food is great! The Place is really a nice size and Great for Parties. I've been craving some Loaded Jerk Chicken Fries for at least a month or two and today was the day. I called my order in and was told by the young lady who took the order that they will No Longer take phone in orders. I ordered the Loaded Fries and they were So Delicious; just as I remembered from 2 years ago. Robin was the Manager of staff and she is a Gem. I recently visited Jerk and Go in Merrillville, Indiana, and was disappointed to observe that the staff were working in suboptimal conditions. Notably, the heating system was malfunctioning, with portable heaters placed throughout the establishment, leaving employees visibly uncomfortable. After ordering, I retreated to my vehicle. This incident marks the second time I've witnessed such conditions at this location, and I strongly believe that immediate attention is necessary to rectify this situation, as it's unfair to subject workers to such an environment. First time trying, got the chicken stew plate I would say it was basic, not really tasty. Almost like canned. And bone in meat. If you're from the south and have tried other Jamaican and Caribbean places. I would say it's not close. But if you've never tried, it will be ok. read more

I am intentional about supporting black owned businesses. Unfortunately, it's becoming more and more difficult to keep dumping money at Jerk N Go. Each visit since opening, have had a wait time of well over an hour. They have positions posted seeking to hire just about everything position available. So, I can support the wait time. But, my last visit is really making me rethink spending my money here until they re-evaluate their execution of how they do business. In general, the food is pretty good, but my last order of $32 was an epic fail after waiting 1 hr & 20 minutes. My whole white chicken was cooked to perfection, but missing the skin. My large rice and peas was cold as if it had been sitting for hours. When I pay $8 for rice and peas and wait over an hour, I don't expect to warm them in the microwave after getting home. The small Mac and cheese looked delicious, but I couldn't eat it because there was a strong odor coming from the container. It almost smelled spoiled. And on top of that, my hot sauce or bread were not in the bag. That's what I get for not checking. In the end, I'll give it another try in the next 6 months or so, giving them an opportunity to pull things together. read more

She definitely sold me on the fried jerk wings, when I say great , good, fresh, and super filling. I don't ever want the regular jerk wings anymore. The food is great. We had the catfish and ox tail. The rice was stunning. The cabbage lacked flavor, along with the green beans (like the big Costco can was just opened and pour out). The bartender/server was perfect, she had to duck her head to avoid the row of TVs. Not sure if it's a bar that has food, or a restaurant that has a bar. Since moving from a big city out West with a good culinary scene, this was the best food I've had in the past year.

Ordered Curry goat and received Goat with brown gravy. Received an attitude at the front counter. Will not return.

Good food, but expensive! The prices are expensive. Staff has been nice lately. I like the Homewood location better than Olympia fields. I really don't mind paying the price for good food, but the prices are ridiculous. It's a treat to go here every once in awhile and I love their wings. read more
