The crew was in too much of a rush and threw things into boxes some of which were incorrectly marked Necklaces that were hanging in the closet were thrown into the bottom of a wardrobe and mixed with a lot of newspaper so the wardrobe was returned with necklaces hidden at bottom and they didnt even call back when I called to inquire Many small things were nicked or had broken parts because of the rushed packing I would not recommend read more

Notice the photo on their website promoting 2 men + 1 truck for $145 per hour for local moves? I spoke to them today and needed help with a very small local move and wanted to hire 2 men for it. The lady said they send 3 guys and that costs $195 per hour. I said, on your website you promote 2 men @ $145 and I'd like to hire just the 2. She said we never send 2 guys, only 3. I said, right on your website it shows 2 men. She said we always send 3 because the next job requires more men and further, "I'm not in charge of the website". I'd prefer to choose a company that offers upfront pricing and when you show them on their own website said pricing they honor it. Not pass the buck by saying "I'm not responsible". You can read your own website, right? Can't wait to see Lynn J's response as to why their own website shows pricing but when you call you're told, we won't honor the price we advertise. We hired them to pack and move (less than 0.5 miles away). They came early. That was good. They worked pretty much nonstop except for a small lunch break. The issue that I had with them was the insane amount of packing materials they used (and charged us for). Our plastic bowls, pillows and paper plates were well protected from breakage by being wrapped in large paper. Also, there were lots of bunched up wrapping sheets at the top and bottom of all the boxes. It maximized the cost and the environmental impact. Now we almost have to hire movers to dump all the boxes and wrapping sheets. I have moved 13 times in the past 10years and this is the first time I have encountered so much wasteful packing. Since this company refuses to acknowledge our BBB report, they leave us no choice than to leave a review here. We paid them $10K to be moved. THAT IS *TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS* for 2 trucks to be moved 4 hours away. The delivery was soon after we moved in, and we had no reason to suspect anything. It wasn't until recently while finally finishing the unpacking of our garage that we are finding many items missing. At the time of packing the trucks, there were multiple cars with various workers on scene, being rushed in a crazy manner around to load the trucks, and it was impossible to keep an eye on everything. Maybe the trucks were gone through before our things were delivered, I don't know, but we are finding tools, a couple of large children's toys, among other things just gone. Kitchen items, etc. Our garage is completely unpacked now, and some things that I've had for decades are GONE. It really pisses me off that for a company to be locally known in a community that I lived in for over 20 years could result in this. I would also like to add that our chest freezer has dings and dents ALL OVER IT from being handled roughly. If you want to use this company take a picture of everything you own beforehand, and watch some of the workers they hire, because it was clear that at least one of them was taking drugs the whole time he was in our home, because he literally asked me to use my bathroom every 5 minutes. I cannot put into words how disappointing my parents experience was with this company. Unprofessional, overpriced and not customer friendly at all. They moved my parents from Ling Island to New Jersey this past week, they pushed my parents around we're rude as they loaded my parents belonging. My mother retired from Rhode Island to Long Island many years ago. Then she moved to Assisted Living and then to a nursing facility, and recently she passed. None of her family lives on Long Island and so for all these life changing transitions we have had to work remotely with and depend on Jernick Moving. They have been dependable, efficient, flexible, helpful, careful, reasonably priced and completely trustworthy for the 18 years we have used them. And now they are moving our mother's things to Rhode Island, Connecticut, Manhattan and even Florida. If we can figure out another way to do business with them in the future, we will! read more

Find another company. I have now used these movers twice now and both times I had issues. The first time was for a move less than 5 miles down the road. I was quoted a price then when the movers arrived, the truck was too small and required two trips. Normally that wouldn't be an issue but they said there wouldn't be a change in price and when it was all done, I was indeed charged substantially more for the second trip. Then the second time I used them was to move a few pieces of furniture about 300 miles. I had a desk of drawers which was totally redone 4 years ago in the move. When it arrived to my sisters house, the piece was absolutely broken. The back of it was 3/4 off, the drawers were broken and several pieces of support on the inside were broken off. It appeared to have at the least been severely dropped. I did not get any payment for the broken piece. Do not use this company. read more

Hired Jernick to move furniture (mostly antiques and paintings and china: precious items that have been in my family for generations), plus numerous boxes of fragile LP records and vintage and very delicate hi fi equipment into a storage unit. The inside of the unit looks as if they backed the van and simply dumped and piled everything in there, boxes and furniture piled and stacked haphazardly, like the game of jengo. I can see numerous boxes have been crushed, an antique side table leg snapped off. I don't dare attempt investigating for fear of causing further damage. I have no idea what recourse I have but to write this review. There is an INVALUABLE Chinese vase in there, a gift to my great grandfather--a NYC physician--from a patient and close friend who was a collector of Asian porcelain. I worry that has been smashed. I see that others have had similiar experiences. Sadly, this moving company has a virtual monopoly on Long Island's North Fork (and Shelter Island) so folks out this way have little choice but to rely on their services. read more

Moved a few days ago from Coram to Mattituck and it couldn't have gone more smoothly. A big concern was trying to choose the right moving company because you hear of so many people having bad experiences by selecting the wrong one. Well, I would start by saying that if you're considering a move, local or long distance, and you're concerned with the professionalism, integrity and efficiency of the company you select, then Jernick Movers would be the choice you want to make. My initial dealings with them were very pleasant on the phone and by email as they proceeded to provide me with an estimate the job. One of their workers even showed up at the house and gave the house and furniture a look. On the morning of the job they showed up on time in a spotless truck and a crew of four young men. The lead guy introduced himself and his crew to us and they couldn't have been more professional both in demeanor and appearance. They proceeded to load up all of our belongings in a well paced methodical manner and it appeared as if they were actually having a great time working. They did their job seamlessly and in such a way that it made it much more pleasant for us. They delivered our furniture and belongings to the new house and that part went equally as well. Their attention to detail was duly noted as was the oversight of the team leader on the move. In the end there was not even a scratch on any of our furniture and the price we paid was just as they had said it would be. I can't recommend them highly enough. This moving company I would not recommend to anyone that lives on Long island, from experience that my family and I have had is the worst, we used this moving company to store and then move our things out of state and as we are unpacking we are finding many thing that weren't broken now broken and damage, so we call the company to tell them and they told they can give us 16 cents to the pound cause that is all the insurance covers, so 1200 pounds of damage products comes out to a mere 192 dollars that wouldn't cover any of the products broken, if I could do zero stars I would, shame on you jernicks read more

Jernick's Moving & Storage company is a professional & cost-effective moving company that goes above & beyond what you would normally expect from a moving business. Our family has recently & successfully used this company for a long distance move. They were prompt when coming to give us the initial quote, which turned out to be a very fair price for the move. Moving day the workers showed up on time and ready to work. They never complained about the steep stairs they had to navigate from the second floor of the upstairs apartment. They carefully wrapped every piece of furniture, being careful to keep all of the hardware with the corresponding items. You would think they were moving there own personal items they were so careful! The men asked questions when appropriate regarding our preferences and were pleasant during the entire moving process. Upon the agreed upon arrival 2 days later several states away, Jernick's arrived within the time window they had originally given us. Again, having to go up 3 flights of outdoor stairs in 85 degree weather, the movers happily placed every piece of furniture where we want them in the new apartment. Not even a small scratch on anything! The senior Mr. Jernick even stayed late to put together a difficult IKEA bed with no fuss or complaint whatsoever...caring beyond compare :) We highly recommend Jernick Moving & Storage for anyone who wants a no-hassle move! read more

This company is good at what they do. They move quickly and efficiently. I did not have any issues at all and the reason I used them is I saw them move a friends farm house with many valuable items in the middle of a terrible snow storm and they were great. I then used them myself when I moved items from NYC into their storage facility and 6 months later had them moved to my home in East Marion. I plan to use them again soon. Moved from Long Island, NY to Nashville, TN. On Long Island Jernick movers/van showed up on time (were supposed to be there between 8:00-9:00, they arrived at 7:58) and were quick and courteous. They said it would be delivered on Sunday at 9am, and again, they were there right on time. The Jernick driver and the local Arpin moving men were efficient and courteous. The final price was about $30 less than the estimate. I would highly recommend, especially for long distance moves. read more

So when asked by friends how my most recent multi-tiered series of moves turned out with Jernick Moving and Storage, they were all ears as I regaled them with how well it went. I've used Jernick Moving Company for long term storage and for several moves in my lifetime - from Rhode Island to Long Island, to NYC, to Florida. There were easy moves and complicated ones. Each time the Jernick team took great care of packing and moving art, antiques, a baby grand piano, china and lamps. Without me asking, they knew what needed special care in wrapping. After having furniture in storage for 5 years I expected something to be damaged. There was none. Each piece came out looking exactly as it had when they had initially packed it up. Jernick Moving is a family owned and operated business. Perhaps therein lies their secret of success. They give full attention to detail and are excellent at communicating what to expect. Unlike other companies, Jernick keeps you posted while in transit and arrives when they say they will. The bonus is how friendly everyone is. From the moment of walking into their office and being greeted by Isabella at their front desk to sitting with Rich Jernick to figure out the logistics of what to do and how to do it, there is a sigh of relief and confidence that they are pros. Used them twice, once for local and once for long distance. The local move was about 15 miles and went well, but they showed up late for pick up. Moving men complained furniture and boxes were heavy, probably trying to get a larger "gratuity". Yes, contents can be heavy! That's why it's called labor. The second move was long distance and there were a number of issues. First, I was given an estimate based on distance and estimated weight and when the shipment arrived I was charged an additional $600. and the owner, an old man, Mr Jernick, said my shipment was overweight. I asked for documentation which he couldn't provide because my contents were on a truck with other people's contents. So I asked if my contents were weighed independently at the origin of shipping and he said no, there weren't any weighing stations at that point. So how do I know if my goods actually weighed more? Not a really good business practice. Second issue was delivery, it was scheduled for morning between 9-12... I live in a Condo and had to reserve and pay, for elevator usage. When delivery hadn't arrived by 12pm I called and Mr Jerncik said, "I'll be there when I get there". Not exactly the answer I would have expected. I had to pay the building for additional elevator usage when the delivery arrived. All in all not a great experience. They are a small town moving company not really experienced in long distance, and their communication and customer service during the transport wasn't very effective. read more

What a pleasure to work with this company! Jernick is a family run operation, and it shows. Everyone I dealt with was friendly, courteous, professional, and honest. This was our first time needing a moving company, so we didn't know what to expect. We were moving a whole houseful of stuff we'd accumulated over 25 years, going from Long Island to New Jersey. Other companies seemed either not hungry or too slick. Our representative from Jernick estimated our load was lighter than the other two companies figured, and therefore came in at a lower price. It turned out that the other guys' weight estimates were correct, but Jernick's final price was still considerably lower! Whenever I contacted them with a question they got right back to me. On the day of the move they showed up early. They wrapped and loaded everything with care and were done far sooner than I expected. On the day we planned to move into our new house it was the same. They even loaded a very heavy piece of furniture that had been left by the previous owners onto our grandson's truck. Everything was in good condition, too. These guys know what they're doing and they do it well. I recommend this company wholeheartedly. read more
