So I checked in here when I went to eat with some friends the other day and I realized I had checked in multiple times since I left my former three-star review. So let me just say, first off in this day of living in a pandemic.... It was very refreshing to see the covid protocols that this establishment follows. I actually totally felt comfortable eating inside here. And it doesn't hurt that the food is good. Service was friendly and prompt. The Cobb salad is really good and plentiful if you're not into the breakfast scene for lunch. Their turkey sausage is a hand formed and not cookie cutter patties.... I was impressed by that. They're blueberry buck pancakes with the granola mixed in was quite interesting and something I'm going to try even though I'm not a pancake fan. .. for the record the one or two is sufficient, they're actually quite big. I have no problems making modifications to any of the items to fit dietary preferences. read more

If you like frozen, reheated food this is your place! Service was done by a very nice young lady and she was efficient. The food she delivered was awful however. I love roasted potatoes but these were out of a bag frozen specimens that were bland and hard as a rock. The break your teeth kind. The eggs were done to order and so was the biscuit. Not hard to accomplish for a chain restaurant that's been in business for a good amount of time. Bacon, while I ordered it crispy, came out slightly burnt and hard to chew. Why can't restaurants get bacon "right" without having to add any caveats. The breakfast for three of us was $68! A little too pricey for what we were served. I won't be back. read more

Recently went from eating at the Waffle House around the corner to this place. I should have done it a long time ago. They have plenty places to sit while you wait for your table ( WH lets their to-go customers sit at the counter seat). Even thought it a couple bucks more at J Christopher, the quality of the food is well worth. My go-to is the traditional breakfast, the potatoes with onions and peppers are the best. The place is always clean and servers are always nice, which goes a long way to having an enjoyable meal. read more

J Christopher's was recommended to us while visiting family. We were there about 1pm and looking for some yummy food! Upon arrival the place looked not too busy and there was no waiting line! Seated right away and our waitress took our order right away. We ordered breakfast and coffee to drink. We ordered Eggs Benedict (on a toast instead of English muffin) and some scrambled eggs and bacon with English muffin. When our coffee came my husband's cup was dirty (still had lipstick from a previous customer --yuck!!! The coffee pitcher was also dirty! My cup was clean thank goodness or else we would have walked out. Coffee was bitter -possibly low quality grain. Food came fast but we felt the food was not freshly prepared or was just sitting on the hot warmer... waiting to be ordered by someone. Unfortunately our experience was not a great one! HORRIBLE customer service by the owner! We've been waiting over 30 mins for a party of 6 which is understand when they are busy. We noticed after about 30 mins that we were the only ones still waiting and everyone else was just walking in and sitting down. My husband asked if we could have 2 4 seater tables so we could go ahead and sit to order, and the hostess was going to work on putting those together for us. In the meantime, my husband pulled up a chair from the bar to sit with the family as we waited inside. The owner jumped and grabbed another chair and kept eyeballing us like we did something horrible. We sat there for a while as well so my husband went back up to ask if they were able to get those two tables put together and the owner lunged at him and said "absolutely not, and that we had to wait for the only large table in the restaurant whenever they were finished". I figured with such a large party that they must not need our business too bad, and the owner smarted off to us as we walked out the door. Completely appalled by his behavior and his absolutely rudeness! Clearly this business is doing well enough not to need large parties. read more

Raining outside so we found shelter in this cool diner. Our waitress greeted us and promptly put in our order. It had a great family vibe because many people spoke and hugged each other including our waitress. We ordered corn beef hash, coke, hot tea and biscuits with gravy. My family and I sat down to eat. A young lady came by and we ordered our drinks and placed in our toddler's meal. We needed a few more minutes to decide what we wanted. 5-7 mins went by and our waitress was nowhere to be found. We asked the hostess and she said there was an incident in the kitchen. We waited and our toddler's meal came without the drinks we placed. Because this was mid-day and my husband needed to go back to work, when she offered to go get the drinks w/out asking us for the rest of our order I immediately asked to place our orders right there. After a good 10-15 mins, she came back with our orders and mine was wrong. I ordered a side that was not there. I also asked for a biscuit and she gave me an English muffin instead. Both times when I corrected her, there was no apology. Instead she was like, "I can go get that for you if you would like", as if I was ordering it for the first time. It came off super rude and disrespectful. It wasn't until after the manager came out did she apologize. Due to this bad experience, unfortunately we will not be going to this place again. read more

Evidently me and my brothers went to eat breakfast at this establishment and rudely to my surprise this place was full of money grabbers. "If you cannot afford to tip you are not allowed to order" is what I was told after explaining that I am a college student who just wanted to eat breakfast which I could is the only thing I afford. A J. Christopher's location where we formerly lived had been our go-to 'breakfast out' location for a while, though we didn't go frequently. After moving, we had never gotten around to trying out the local branch until recently. We'd dined nearby on weekends occasionally and had always seen this place packed (esp. for Sunday lunch). So we were a bit apprehensive about how early the crowds arrived. We went on a Saturday morning at 7 a.m. when they first open. There were a couple of groups waiting outside but nothing major. We were the 2nd party in the door and the dining area wasn't full when we left. YMMV, but it looks like you can arrive early and avoid the brunch rush. Parking is fine. The shared lot with the rest of this plaza isn't expansive, but you won't have to walk far. The service here really shined. Our server was cheerful and helpful, without it seeming like it was scripted. The rest of the staff that we observed seemed similar. Maybe they're this way all the time, or it was the start of the shift? It was nice. The food is above-average breakfast fare. The coffee is usually good, and I never feel that I'm getting overcharged. Portions are reasonable (we usually have some leftovers). My wife usually gets one of the bacon & egg combos, while I tend to get pancakes (usually blueberry). The other diners here were an interesting cross-section of the community: a table of older guys hanging out, someone working on an apparent business project, a cop eating before starting her shift, etc. This would be a good place to just linger with a larger group for an extended breakfast. read more

Very very frustrated. We called ahead at 6:30 to let them know we had a party of 15 coming. They were rude and said they didn't take reservations anymore. When we sent someone early to get a table they forced us to sit separate and the manager (dark haired man) was so rude and told my family that they couldn't accommodate parties larger of 8. But didn't feel the need to tell us that on the phone or when our party arrived. They made us look stupid in front of the rest of the restaurant and he clearly cared more about rules than serving customers. Love J. Christopher's but VERY disappointed in the management read more

My mom and I went to J. Christopher's for the first time yesterday. The positives: the food is delicious, and the decor (for those who care) is cute and inviting. They are social distancing and making sure the dining experience is safe for their customers, and I really appreciate that. Lastly, those amazing specialty coffees-OMG!!! The signature coffees are what really sets J. Christopher's apart from the other breakfast places. The negatives: The food is way over-priced for what you get. I can get breakfast at Waffle House for cheaper, and it will taste just as good. The service was okay, nothing to right home about. Our waitress did not really check on us, so we would have been SOL if we needed a refill, but luckily we did not. Better services, fairer prices, and maybe a little music (maybe oldies to go with the retro decor) playing in the dining room would really improve the dining experience at J. Don't waste your time. Food is exactly like iHop. Which is fine, I like iHop, but the owner is horrible. They over charged us, but the owner denied it when clearly on the menu the prices were different. I'll deal with mediocre food any day, but when the owner himself is a mean person then there is no point to waste your time. I didn't argue too much because the $8 he over charged us seemed much more important to him. Won't be coming back. read more

Food was not as good as I expected as well, grits were flavorless and watery, biscuit was not light and fluffy, and hard to cut. Service was great, had to wait a while but it was brunch time on a Saturday, food came out pretty quickly, nice energy in the place, hash brown potatoes were a disappointment since I have pretty high standards on that side dish - they were lacking in any brown color that is so delicious, and I think they lacked overall seasoning. Ordered blueberry pancakes, pancakes were fine, although I would have like more blueberries in the pancakes, was unfortunate that they don't serve the breakfast items with real maple syrup. I heard on the way out of the restaurant that you have to ask for the "real syrup". Not sure I understand that approach.
