Solid smoked fish and pleasant local atmosphere. Salt cod is delicious and impeccable. The salmons were more mixed--I generally found them to be on the dry side, with better flavor for sockeye than king. If I went again I'd probably try the fins for a bit of extra oil. read more

In the 7+ years of being my go-to place for fish and sausage I have never been greeted by their younger staff, but this last time not only did the one person just stand there but another eventually stood next to them and declared that I had 30 seconds to finish a transaction. Teaching young adults about customer service with a "sorry, but we're closing for the day" makes such a difference.... except for me. I won't be back. read more

There are some things that are a decent price I would still go to the grocery store first unless you want something smoked. We booked a fishing charter with The Local Guy Charter when we were done and back to shore with our fish. Captain Adam let us know they use Jerry's to process and ship the fish and they had only positive things to say. The charter company took care of getting the fish to Jerry's/ A week later; we had a beautifully package box of completely frozen fish fillets. The fillets are sealed in 1-2lb packets and look wonderful. We are so impressed with the quickness and quality of our fish. Our only suggestion would be labeling what kind of fish our fillets are. read more

I really love this place! This gem is located in the back corner of a fairly non descript building somewhere between the airport and downtown juneau. It is truly a temple to freshly caught seafood from the surrounding waters. I believe they will also help butcher all manner of hunted meats as well. I usually buy some smoked black cod which i dare say unheard of or at least very hard to find in the lower 48. The stuff is perfect. Schmear it on some crackers or eat it straight up, it is always amazing. Also go for the smoked salmon dip! Rich and creamy! Jerry's Meats and Seafood is the BEST around! Period. I ordered a box of the freshest Sockeye Salmon to be Overnighted to my parents on Cape Cod (who own a fishing boat on the Cape). It was delivered today in perfect condition, and believe me they are "fish snobs". They are always impressed with the fish sent from Jerry's and FedEx overnight from Alaska isn't cheap. This has nothing to do with Jerry's pricing - this is FEDEX Alaska pricing. Shipping in Alaska is pricy. Jerry's products are fresh, fair priced, and this is the BEST place to buy quality products. Do not go!!! Horrible customer service. We shipped crab legs last week home and the shipping was included in the price. It arrived right when it said it would. So before we make the journey home, we wanted to send more. Right from the start the gentleman, pretty sure the owner who refused to admit he was the owner, that was at the counter on 8/12 around 11 am, was absolutely rude and didn't want to mail anything for us. He said it isn't worth mailing and that he doesn't appreciate having to load all these orders on planes etc. We said we really want them mailed as we had a lot of other things to get home. He said because I was an athlete I could figure it out. He was absolutely rude and a horrendous human being about it all. He finally said alright and was going to charge us $112 to ship it!!!! $112 more than the $120 for the actual items. He continued to argue with us that is the cost when we literally just did it last week for free. So go here at your own risk and hopefully you have a much better experience than we did. Dumpy hard to find, have been there three times, first time 5-stars, bought crab and salmon spread, it is excellent, worth the trip alone, second trip - 2 stars, wife dropped off 5 COHO to filet, package, freeze, I went in to pickup, the young girl at counter asked for a receipt, rolled her eyes when I did not have one, looked came back with someone else, he asked if I had a receipt, I called wife, she said they never gave her one, I was told it was unfortunate I did not have a receipt, and too bad my wife was not there so they could talk to someone who knew what was going on, he went back again came out with 4 (not 5 that we dropped off COHO), at that time to cut loss, I paid and left, nice work in filet and packaging third trip 4-stars but worried, dropped off 3 COHO to be smoked, I asked for a receipt they said they do not give receipts for drop off's, (actually not sure other than drop off how you would leave something here?), I told my story of being scolded, and he said again, no receipts for drop off, so will see how it goes when I go back to pickup, Picked up smoked fish, it was wonderful, what a great job, nice smoke, great package, back to 4 stars, Heads up, they charge you based on weight of fish dropped off, so you should cut the heads off and gut, save you $3/pound for smoking... read more

We stopped in at Western Auto Marine to buy our fishing licenses and some tackle, and were enticed by the delicious, smokey aroma coming from around the corner. What a find! Jerry's has a plethora, as the name might suggest, of smoked meats and wild caught Alaskan seafood. The smoked salmon and black cod (butterfish) were amazing, and the bacon was the thickest, smokiest, most succulent slab of pork I have ever encountered. read more

My girlfriend's only request from Alaska (she grew up there) was some reindeer sausage. I got the recommendation for Jerry's from a local in Ketchikan. Also, the cab driver in Juneau knew it and picked up a corned beef brisket for herself. Jerry's is in a pretty basic warehouse storefront outside the downtown of Juneau, but if you are taking a cab from the cruise ship docks, it makes a good stop on the way to the Alaskan Brewing Company (also a nice off-the-totally-beaten-path that cruise ships offer). I came for sausage and Jerry's did not disappoint. In addition to the Alaskan Sausage Company's Reindeer Sausage (reindeer being the third ingredient after beef and pork), they had the Hunter Sticks from the same company. These are a cross between a salame and a Slim Jim, though with better quality ingredients than the later. My girl said they brought her right back in time to her youth. I picked out both of these and had them shipped home. Jerry makes his own sausage and that was really good. No reindeer, but I got Polish sausage, Louisiana Hot Links and Pepperoni. None of it was hot enough for my taste, but I guess that's what hot mustard is for. Also, the sausages are on the lean side, which makes careful cooking important or they will dry out. These are not on the online catalog, but if you call they will ship anything they sell. We were headed back to the ship so we asked about some other things and tried the crab dip, the smoked salmon dip and the smoked salmon (they only sell wild Alaskan salmon). All of these were very fresh, and very tasty and we were glad we picked some up to take back with us. They ship all of this back to the lower 48 and I am already planning an order for X-mas (if I can wait that long). When we arrived the place was pretty empty, and I was a little concerned at that, but as we were talking the line formed about 5 deep. One fellow had come in to discuss having two salmon he had caught smoked, as Jerry's will handle both fish and game. One of the best finds on my trip and the best stop I made in Juneau! Afternote: I've been cooking with my leftover Jerry's sausage and that's where it really shines. The low fat is perfect in, say, the tortilla soup I made today adding a hot link to it. read more

We rolled in here late one cold night and stocked up on some delicious smoked salmon (jerky and spread - which was particularly good), pork cutlets, and buffalo sticks for our trip back to Seattle. Shortly after placing the order online, someone called to confirm the order and let me know it would be shipped overnight via Fedex. I was very impressed with their customer service and attention to detail. My father is still raving about the reindeer sausage and how fresh the seafood was. He said the sausage was spiced well and was perfect on the grill. He grilled it with peppers and onions and placed it all in a hoagie roll. I dropped off 33 pounds of venison and pork In January, the venison having been a lucky New Year's Eve harvest. I still believe the drop off process could use improvement as a handwritten ticket placed in a tub of meat to track who belongs to what is archaic, however the end product of summer sausage and pepperoni turned out excellent! The pepperoni especially is quite delicious and the reason I will come back to Jerry's for future sausage makings.
