They use what is considered the best species of salmon for smoking----King Salmon. In addition, they smoke their salmon with alderwood which many people say is the best smoking wood. The rich, sweet taste of their salmon is incredible and much higher in omega 3s than farm raised salmon. We live in the Chicago area and consider ourselves fortunate to be able to acquire such fantastic food. Their shipping department is very efficient and easy to deal with.

After a single bite, I discarded the entire batch, contacted Alaska Seafood Company and they sent me a second batch which was slightly better than the first; "D" instead of "F" but still unacceptable. Weird color, thin, dry, smelly, bony, no smokiness, no brininess. I ended up junking everything after another single bite. I contacted the company again, this time recommending -- as politely as I could -- that they relearn the smoked salmon process,, but never heard back. (I had a local teacher in mind but they seemed disinterested.) These two batches were the worst smoked salmon -- by far -- that I've ever had.
