Was it worth the hyped? Was it worth it for the price? Those were the questions that I have coming to Tracy's. After watching many videos about this place, the hype is real. Just like everyone else, we came here after the cruise docked, we were amount the first one to get off the ship and were able to get here right the way without much wait. As we sitting down for our food the line grew much longer. There is also a second location that has less wait. We ordered the Red King Crab that's feeds 6-8 people, if you like crab it will feed like 4 lol, the crab tasted sweet and fresh. Also bisque tasted amazing. But this place is expensive, we paid almost $800 for it. Is it worth it? I will say if you are the first time in Alaska you should try it. Will I do it again? Yes if we have the budget to, but I will ordered the small amount and other things. We have a large group that is why is so much more expensive. I have a great experience at this restaurant, the service from the staff is excellent and they really know what they are doing. If you have the budget to come here, try it, it is once in a lifetime experience. read more

We specifically saved for this meal because of how good it was last time. We spent $380 on food, and in total didn't even get a full pound of crab legs. I understand they are smaller this year and shell weight, etc. but to not even come close to a pound is crazy. We should have at least gotten 2 legs for the that price which would have still only been 12 oz since all were weighed individually and together. If you cared about quality and giving everyone a great experience so much, I would maybe re-evaluate your system to actually giving people a decent amount of food for the amount of money they're spending. Just like you care about quality, etc. the customers do also, and unfortunately this just wasn't it. Had it been your same system last year where it was by pound, this wouldn't be as big of an issue. But every single place we've visited, yours is the only one we've found selling by leg. I get this is your business, it's in a tourism town, but we have to do better here. It disappoints me to be writing this because two years ago we ate at Tracy's and paid $85 per pound for crab legs which were HUGE. We ordered 2 pounds and got 3 big legs and one large claw. When planning our Alaska trip for this year we couldn't wait to come back, only to be hit with a "we changed our menu" and are now being charged $90 PER LEG. Now, $90 per leg wouldn't be bad if they were giving a 1 pound leg, since all the other places around town are charging $100 PER POUND. Tracy's claims they went back to their old pricing at per leg rather than per pound, but I believe they're doing this because the catch was smaller this year and not many so by them charging per leg they can make more money as a business. With all that in mind we went there anyways, and ordered 3 red legs, 1 golden, a bisque and some fried shrimp. The legs were significantly smaller than we had our previous time, which is nothing on Tracy's part or the fisherman, it's just about the crab in season which I get. Curious to see how much we were truly getting for the $90 price point, we decided to bring a food scale and weigh the legs ourself, and to our surprise the leg weighed 6 OUNCES! SIX OUNCES. So tracys is charging over $220 per pound for their crab, when I can go right down the street and pay $100 PER POUND for the same crab caught from the same place. Shame on you Tracy's. This is totally taking advantage of the customers to benefit your pockets. I will say, the bisque and fried shrimp are delicious. And the crab is too, they just need to go back to charging per pound and actually honoring that POUND. read more

Been there yesterday , I am not sure about all the hype . We had red king ,dungeon crabs, crab cakes, bisque and some sort of garlicky sweet bread, Steamed crabs - ok nothing special , Crab cakes- deep fried with average dipping sauce , Bisque- no taste at all . I had better tasing everything elsewhere . Dipping butter did not taste like real butter . Those crab cakes probably come frozen in giant plastic bag with some mediocre sauce. In town on a cruise and after our excursion, we decided to stop at Tracy's King Crab Shack for lunch--and we're glad we did! We ordered (2) Combo #1 ($104/ea), which included one Red King Crab leg, crab bisque, four crab cakes, and a roll with butter. Drinks are extra. Be prepared for a wait! The line was extremely long, stretching all the way toward the visitor center. It took us about 30 minutes to reach the counter and order. There was plenty of staff working, though, and everything moved along pretty smoothly. One fun touch: when you order, they ask for your name and where you're from. When your food is ready, they call out your name and city/state or country while looking for where you're seated. It was pretty cool hearing where everyone was visiting from. The inside has a fun fishing village atmosphere with plenty of seating, although most of the tables are shared. The staff was friendly and did a great job cleaning tables immediately after people finished, keeping things moving. Now for the food, it was amazing! Some of the best crab we've ever eaten. The King Crab was fantastic, the bisque was rich and flavorful with big chunks of crab throughout, and the crab cakes were delicious as well. Just know going in that it's expensive. Two Combo #1s, one soda, and tip came to $230.36. It's definitely a splurge, but when you're visiting Alaska and want some incredible King Crab, this is the place to do it. This is a very popular place so it may take some time to get a table or you can get it to go. It is not far from the docks and it is easy to find. They have communal tables. They offer different types of crab as well as bisque and crab cakes. The line was quite long due to several ships in port but checked out the menu and offering. The M&M tour bus operator let us off a bit early for those of us who wanted to try the famous/popular restaurant called Tracy's King Crab Shack. So we promptly got in line to wait as they were quite busy. Approximately 45 mins later, we were able to put in our food order at the front counter. We should have been given a 2.5% cash discount per their menu but weren't. Then, we had to find our own table to sit at. Even though it was drizzling a bit, we sat at an outside table because all of the interior tables were occupied. Luckily, the rain stopped shortly after we found a clean-ish table next to a heater. Wait staff brought our food to our table after a short wait. We ordered the #1 Combo Golden King Crab (14 oz) (which came with a small crab bisque, 4 mini crab cakes, garlic bread rolls, and butter), 1 lb of Red King Crab, Pulled Pork Sliders, and a glass of Alaskan Brewing Company Summer (Kolsch beer). While both types crab were tasty, I really couldn't decide whether one was better than the other. The crab bisque was rich and flavorful; the rolls were soft and tender and went well with the bisque. The crab cakes were also good - nothing outstanding though. And, the glass of beer was super cold and very refreshing! I'm glad we tried Tracy's King Crab Shack despite it being a tourist spot and expensive. Tons of merchandise for sale were plastered all over their walls. The absolute best crab legs I've ever had and nothing comes close! I got a red king crab leg combo that of course comes with 1 king crab leg, crab bisque, mini crab cakes and rolls. Also added a cluster of snow crab legs that were almost as big as the king crab. I have never really gotten full from seafood until eating here! With the king crab, it was very juicy and the meat was buttery and sweeter almost reminding me of a lobster. The snow crab was sweet as well, definitely easier to crack too but honestly the work is worth it haha. The sides also deserve love, I'm not a huge fan of crab cakes but these were the best I've ever had and definitely set the bar (highly recommend buying a bottle of the crab cake sauce) The bisque was good as well, not as sweet as a lobster bisque but still good especially when dipping the roll in it, lots of crab meat inside. The spacing inside is pretty limited, at least on a busy day. Service was nice, they were friendly and bring your order to the table, food came out fast. As you probably already know this place is definitely expensive but it is 100% worth every penny you spend. read more

Tried the second location about 10 minute walk from main location on the doc. They have a much larger seating area with heaters inside and large tables to sit at than they do at the location on the pier. Which makes the line go faster. The service has always been great. We tried their special fresh caught crab (1/2 a crab) for $99. Also had to get the beer battered shrimp and bisque soup. They let us try the beers they have in tap to decide which we wanted to try! Everyone knows this place! Usually a long line. Be ready to drop a pretty penny on these crab legs. Off the chart expensive for what you get. We tried the chowder which was packed full of meat. Very good. The roll is also tasty. The crab cake was delicious too. Skipped the crabs as we are from MD and are use to flavorful crabs. Find that the legs are much more bland. Plus, the price was a deterrent. Service was good. Very nice. Clean place to eat. Super fun merch. Several locations. Don't just stop in the one that is directly off of the cruise port area. Tracy's Crab Shack in Juneau, Alaska a must-stop for seafood lovers! Awesome place in Juneau! I had to check it out, even though my mom wasn't quite ready for lunch yet. Tracy's is famous for its Alaskan king crab, snow crab, crab cakes, and fresh seafood, making it a popular stop for visitors and cruise travelers. I ordered the already cracked king crab and snow crab ($50) and also tried the crab cakes and fried shrimp. Everything was hot and fresh, and the crab was definitely the highlight! My only small complaints were that the butter and lemon weren't included with my order at first, and the roll was a little stale, but the staff was very nice when I went back to grab them. First of all let me just say WOW. Do not let the prices deter you from visiting this restaurant. Besides the king crab, there are lower cost options that are phenomenal. Our table ordered one pound of the king crab special that also came with a claw. It was AMAZING. They gave you these great crab cutters that they also let you take home with you. Our waitress was on point when she washed them and brought them back to us. SUPERB service. We also ordered crab bisque, crab sliders, and fried shrimp. The bisque was DELICIOUS. It rivaled the lobster bisque I enjoy on the coast of Maine.... Dare I say even better. The shrimp was fried perfectly and the coleslaw on the crab sliders was SO GOOD. The ambiance is cool. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you and announce the state you live in. It was fun hearing from where everyone was visiting from. Overall I thought it was good, but the price is what makes it hard for me to fully love it. The crab legs are huge and definitely easier to get the meat out, which I liked. The crab itself was good, but for me it was just missing a little more flavor to justify that kind of price. The crab bisque was ok and I felt like it needed a little hot sauce. The hype is real! I can definitely see why this place is so popular. The biggest thing that impressed me was how incredibly fast and efficient the service was. Even if the line looks long, don't let that scare you away--you'll get your food surprisingly quickly. One thing to keep in mind: the Golden Crab comes with only one piece of crab, so I always go with the Snow Crab instead. You get about five legs, which makes it a much better value in my opinion. Everything else we tried was delicious, even the pulled pork. I honestly wasn't expecting much from it, but it was incredibly flavorful and ended up being one of my favorite items. They have their system down to a science. Once we ordered we found seats right away. The food came out quickly considering how long it took to place the order. We both had the combination plates. They included crab bisque, crabcakes, a roll and crab legs. I chose the golden king crab, and my husband chose the snow crab. I like the king crab better than the snow crab. Although the serving size was not as large, the crab meat was more firm and flavorful. I grew up eating Dungeness crab in the San Francisco area so I have high expectations. I felt the golden king crab was as tasty. The crab bisque had a nice flavor. It was creamy and had chunks of crab in it. The crab cakes were ok. The sauce that accompanies them helped their flavor. Customer service is wonderful. Yes lines are long but it moves fast. My mom as soon as she knew I was taking her to Alaska would not stop talking about all the king crab is was going to eat. So the crab was quite bland to us both. The butter is a great quality so that helped a lot and I love dipping crab in cocktail sauce. Our two red king crab legs were soft shockingly. Not sure if they had melted before that or what but soft, bendable. Now the golden king crab, was shockingly sweeter and the shell was harder and spiky( be careful). I only wanted to try to snow crab because on a video I watched someone hyped them up. No flavor, hard hard shells. We unfortunately have better snow crab back home at the AYCE. I did witness a GenZ server tell an elderly woman that there was nothing she could do about her Sprite being flat. I told another server that the syrup needs to changed and that solved the issue. The red crab was definitely better in terms of taste. The price is ridiculous as the red crab was $90 for a leg and the golden crab was $65 per leg. Since we were here, we had to eat it though. We also got a cup of the crab bisque. It was good and what made it better was putting more crab into it! The bread was realistically just a Hawaiian roll with a little garlic butter. The king crab was sweet, tender, and incredibly fresh, the best king crab I've ever had. I have been dreaming about coming back to Tracy's for two years since I was last here in July 2024 - one thing that has not changed is how crowded this place gets with all the cruise ship customers. Another (bad) thing I noticed is the 22.35% increase in price for less food. Back in 2024 they charged $85 for a large Red King Crab leg and a claw, 4 crab cakes, a bisque and two garlic rolls. Now in 2026 they charge $104 for one large Red King Crab leg, 4 crab cakes, a bisque and two rolls. They got rid of the second crab leg and the garlic rolls, they just give you regular rolls, yet you pay a lot more. A good business model for them as they make more money and serve less food, but as a customer paying a premium price this is disappointing - at least keep the garlic rolls! Two years ago I had trouble finishing the Red King Crab Combo meal, and today I left feeling like I could eat a little more! I went back and tried the Golden King Crab combo the next day, and I actually enjoyed the taste of the Golden more than the Red. The meat is more sweet and tender, versus the meaty Red. YUMMMMY! Talk about some of the best bites we've ever had. Being big crab lovers, we knew we had to stop by Tracy's for that Alaskan king crab and were glad we did. We were told red king crab season October to April so the legs were flash frozen so we knew we wanted to get some of the fresh Norton sound crab. Although a bit smaller in size the sweetness was absolutely mouthwatering. Will admit these guys are pretty prickly, and will make you work for your bite it's worth every arm wrestle for that meaty morsel. We just had a red king crab leg, big claw and small claw. It was delicious. Cooked perfectly and meaty, the flavor was robust. The drawn butter made it taste even more succulent. We got there at 950am and we were eating by 1005am. The brunch idea allows for easy access and getting a table It's a fun looking place and we enjoyed our meal. The whole experience was overall not worth the price we paid. Long lines of tourists waiting in the rain for one king crab leg and over cooked crab cakes, bisque that was just ok and 2 rolls. Oh and a refillable soda. 104$ plus the noisiest bus person in the world! She moved the metal chairs actually dragged them across the concrete floor the entire time we were eating.
