Jersey boys always, and so mean always does a great job cutting my son's hair. There is not very much to say. The shop is clean and everyone who I see that works there are nice and receptive. The price is not bad either. I remember getting two shape-up's a week for $10. Times have changed. Also this is Montclair, and again the price is not bad. My partner wanted to get his hair cut, so we walked in and the guys said they could fit him in for a walk-in. His hair was cut and out of the chair in about 30 mins. It was ok. Not great. They then asked if I wanted to get my hair cut. I removed my hat showing a mostly bald head (I get it razor shaved about twice a month). I said I was ok. But they pressed... so, I said sure, I could get a fresh shave up if they had the time. The barber felt hurried and the cut wasn't great. I had a few nicks and some patchy places where the hair wasn't shaved. Around the ears I could understand maybe.... But on the back of my head? I went home with a stinging scalp and had to use my electric razor to touch up the spots he missed. Not really worth the money for something I could do better at home with less irritation. I was coming from out of town visiting family and needed a clean tight cut. I knew it was a Saturday and it might not be possible to walk in and get seen but I had to try. I went to Virile Barber, booked. I went to V.Sosa Grooming Bar, booked. Then I decided to take a chance on Jersey Boys... Chris greeted me warmly and after asking if he could fit me in he said: "Hang your coat up and I'll take you right here." After a brief consultation Chris assured me I was in good hands. He was very cool, personable and as he worked his blades we chatted about different subjects. In no time I had one of the best haircuts I've had in a long time. Was in need of a cut, as my regular barber was closed. I happened to pass this shop while out in Montclair. Firstly, it is very aesthetically attractive. Very old school-themed and comfortable. Local art was hung on the walls. Mike gave me an excellent haircut. He is certainly an artist as far as the barbering game goes. He was also friendly and attentive as to what I was looking for. It was apparent that he wanted me to leave happy. The fade, lines, etc. we're all nice and tight when he was finished. Michael is the guy who took care of my husband, and both my boys. THE first time my youngest son liked his haircut. Usually he's indifferent because "people don't listen to kids". Great barber shop. My 5 year old needed a haircut and my husband needed a beard trim and I couldn't deal with the craziness of classic man. Probably one of the better haircuts I have ever received! James was able to fit me in during my break. It's located right off of Bloomfield Avenue so parking is not really an issue. I walked into the shop and James saw me immediately. He even offered me an espresso which was kind. You don't see that kind of service in shops anymore. I explained to James what I was going for, sometimes I'm not sure what to say or ask for so it was great James was able to understand what I wanted. I got a skin fade and it's smooth as can be! James really made me comfortable in the chair and took great care. I definitely will be stopping by again! Good luck! There needs to be more shops like this! read more
