Unfortunately, the service really fell short. It took way too long just to be acknowledged. The hostess was friendly, but the big man behind the counter, looked right past me twice and took another customer's order before mine. Thankfully, a younger gentleman stepped in and took my order, which I appreciated. As for the food, the cheesesteak was very disappointing. It lacked seasoning completely, and the only thing that somewhat saved it was the extra ketchup I added. I couldn't even finish it there, I ended up taking it home and fixing it myself just to make it edible. Being a Philly native, I had higher expectations. The hoagies are actually good, but the cheesesteaks just don't live up to what you'd expect. Overall, not the worst experience, but definitely not one I'd rush back for.

When I asked him if there's a way to check if there's egg in the ice cream, he said no. I said well IS there egg in the ice cream? (Which isn't all that common, but ice cream with cookies or ones made from custard sometimes have egg, but the vast majority of Ice Cream does not. Just for reference. We just wanted to be safe..) He shut us down. Wasn't willing to check. We ended up walking away with a crying 10-year-old. It's not easy having an allergy when you're a kid. There was absolutely no line behind us. He made zero effort to help us. I just wish people would be a lil nicer and help out a little more. Turns out, we went to Wahlburgers to get shakes to go, and they were so sweet and accommodating. The Den is an American casual restaurant at the north end of the island. I have had breakfast, lunch and dinner here several times and never a bad meal. TBH the breakfasts are EPIC! My all time #1 favorite breakfast is corned beef has with poached eggs, sliced (Jersey) tomatoes and rye toast. The Den does it flawlessly. My wife also enjoys their pancakes. You need to google the menu to see why you really ought to go. It is bright, clean and attractively decorated. The staff are uniformly polite and pleasant. Seriously, go for the breakfasts. You can go every day for weeks and have something different - and delicious.

The decor is definitely giving pirate, and of course I left with a mug! The servers were all extremely attentive, frequently checking in and refilling coffees. Walked right up and we're curious about their bowls made of frozen greens - graviota? - so they have us a sample. It was actually really good! We were there for açaí and yogurt though so stayed with that. One order was their nutty bowl with blueberries rather than strawberries. My dining partner sampled a few yogurt flavors and came away with vanilla, something tart, and raspberry. She tossed some mango and mochi balls on top and called it delicious. The açaí bowl had an entire banana on it and tons of blueberries. We enjoyed our treats there, ate it all. We'll stop in again!
