I walked straight to the bar and ordered a coffee and coconut stout. It was delicious. I sat back and enjoyed the scene. Bartenders were very friendly. I bought beers to enjoy at home. Cool spot with a nice variety of beers, easy parking, and tons of games to play with friends. The beer tenders provided great, easy going service. Both were very personable and they made sure to communicate last call with ample time for us to get another round. Cyclone offers tasters, flights, half pours and full pours so everyone can get what they want. We really enjoyed the Sunny Day Ray sour. It was well rounded- refreshing, tart and 6% abv! BYOF - bring your own food. The beer selection is really good! Especially seasonal releases. It's a great local spot tucked away in a plaza with plenty of parking. In the summer they will have outdoor events. Stopped in on the way home from anther brewery because they had stouts on the menu. As a personal note: I am a stout girl. Absolutely love them, and for some reason, no one seems to be pouring them lately. It's sad. However, I got wrapped up in a stout cyclone the minute I walked in the door and built myself a tasty little flight comprised of Santa Pants, Deformation Zone (an absolute PERFECT stout), Double Stuffed Dreams, and Back for S'More. Pure heaven. As for the brewery itself, it's spacious, clean, and I'll absolutely be back. The bartender was super chill. The live music was great and the other patrons were fun. First time ever going to a brewery and had such a great experience! The space is on the smaller side but tables are clean spaced out well. Each table has hand sanitizer. Weekdays are typically not super busy. We came around 6pm on a Tuesday and there were plenty of tables open. Friendly environment and staff was super nice! When we asked for recommendations, she graciously went through each of the beers available and described each one in detail. Almost each beer has a taster, a half pour, and a full pour option. As an amateur beer drinker, I loved being able to try several different beers for a very affordable price. There was a good range of choices, from IPA beers to stout and sour. My favorites were the Tranquil Waters and Frost Flowers. But I was surprised at how good the King Tide and Vantablack Morning beers were -- worth the try! I will definitely be returning to try more of their craft beers and enjoy the friendly environment. It's BYOF so I would recommend stopping by one of the nearby pizza places on your way here and picking up a pie! read more

Tucked away towards the rear of one of the ubiquitous warehouse complexes in Somerset.. Jersey Cyclone Brewing offers a variety of tasty beers in their intimate but comfortable tasting room. As with most microbreweries -- the IPAs are the signature brews, but Jersey Cyclone produces several types of tasty and fresh beer on-site and rotates the 10-12 beers on tap in the tasting room. There are several IPAs -- including New England IPAs, American IPAs, Session IPAs (with lower alcohol content) and Imperial IPAs (with heavier alcohol content) -- and other seasonally-inspired beers/seltzers -- such as Kölsch, Barleywine, and Bock -- available in "taster", "half pour", "full pour" servings. Colleagues of mine stopped by after work on a recent Wednesday evening to unwind over a few beers. When we arrived around 6pm, the tasting room was almost empty with only a handful of other patrons and remained that way until we closed our tabs and left just after last call at 745pm. I was hoping to sample the Flood - an Imperial Stout - but it's only available in cans which can't be enjoyed on-site at the brewery according to NJ's liquor laws. Instead, I opted for the Wind Chimez Session IPA because I wanted something on the lighter side; my colleagues tried the brewery's flagship Eye of the Storm Citra American IPA. All of us enjoyed the beers .. giving them a solid 4 out of 5 stars for their smooth, consistent flavors. Prices vary depending upon variety (and the alcohol content). Surprisingly, Jersey Cyclone doesn't offer flights of "taster" samples to sample several at a time. They do offer beer 'to go' with a limited selection of 16oz cans and a larger selection of anything on-tap in 32oz crowlers (a giant 32oz can filled with beer straight from the tap and sealed, preserving the beer's carbonation for about a month) or BYO growlers (a glass container filled with beer straight from the tap and capped off, preserving the beer for a few days). Pro Tip: New Jersey's draconian liquor laws prohibit microbreweries from serving food, so bring your own snacks or order via your favorite delivery app. read more

Jersey Cyclone was the 98th brewery that I had visited in NJ alone. They have entered Middlesex County, which is one of the most populated counties in the state but still does not have many breweries. It is definitely needed there to give a communal space for funky people to hang out. They are located in an industrial park with plenty of parking. The space is on the smallish, but not too small, side. I noticed most of the guests sit right up at the bar, but there are lots of tables, too, for dates and bigger groups. The decor is relatively simple and clean. It still has that "new brewery smell." The beers tend to be rich, bold, and thicker. They had a variety of different styles. Jersey Cyclone did not seem like an IPA-only brewery. I can't say that they are the very finest beers I have tasted in NJ, but the brewery is still new, and the beers were all fresh. The two ladies working there were very friendly and efficient. You could tell they had previous waitressing experience. I met two different patrons at the bar who were both very intelligent and wanted to engage in meaningful conversations. It makes me wonder whether Jersey Cyclone tends to attract the smarter clientele. Maybe it's because it's near Rutgers?? I noticed they also got busier after the Rutgers football game finished. My buddy who joined me lives nearby, so I'll be back. read more

Great brew pub on industrial type street in Somerset. All the beers are great and there is a soda offering. No food is served but there are food trucks occasionally. Simple furnishings with friendly staff. I've gone for the trivia nights that have drawn a fun crowd. I highly recommend. read more

I love seeing a brewing area that is spotless, normally means the brewers care and there is quality beer in my future. After the tour I sat down, and was happily surprised to see a tap list not completely full of IPA's. The beers were all very good, friendly staff, and clean tap room. Walking in, I was kindly greeted by a very friendly staff. Being my first time there, they took the time to give me the tour of the facility. They have a good amount of sitting at the bar and multiple tables with sitting for larger groups. Beer wise, they have more than enough to provide some to your liking and maybe more. Being a fond of pale ale, Pilsner and stout, I was able to try some beers out of my comfort zone and discover new flavors and beer types that I haven't got before. I ended up leaving with two growlers and planning on stopping by soon for some refills. Their social media page which is frequently maintained, will keep you up to date on new releases and future events. Finally, I have a local craft beer brewery to give my patronage to...to root for...to be a part of. For too long there has been a dearth of offerings for craft beer in the Somerset area. I have had to travel great distances, if not out of state, to fill my thirst for high quality craft beer. On Sat, May 4th my dreams came true. Cyclone Brewing had there grand opening with great anticipation and they did not disappoint. As I walked in the door, I was greeted by a friendly staff member (I think Sandra was her name) and immediately felt the craft beer vibe. The room was full of friendly people who share a love for high quality craft beer. The physical space is roomy, warm and inviting with seating for 85. They are currently offering eight different beers; a couple of IPA's, porters, and a Kolsch with more offerings to come. With my first trip I focused on IPA's and was very satisfied. I look forward to trying everything Cyclone has to offer. Fabulous brewery in the industrial part of Somerset, NJ right off 287. The place is brand new and pretty open. Mr. F enjoyed talking to the fellas behind the bar. Beers were very good. The Snowtober (Imperial Coffee Porter With Vanilla on Nitro) was amazing and a favorite among Mr. F's revelers. Mr. F also enjoyed the Storm Cloud, which is their New England style IPA. What a super cool, hidden surprise this place is!! We went for my BIL's birthday. Place was dead, but it was a Sunday. Love that NJ Industrial Parks (warehouses) now have hidden brewery's in them!! Genius! No tall signage and you'll think "where the heck am I going" but look for the little a frame signs out front. This place is only three months old, but super friendly service, clean, and hip. Love the water station, so you can get your own water all night long. GREAT taps and lots of beers to choose from - tho, I prefer more of a high octane selection, there were enough to get me by. We played Jenga at our table, laughed, drank...super fun night. Wish this little brewery lots of success! read more

NOTE - this is a brewery. It's in the name. They do not serve food, but you can bring your own. But bring your own utensils, plates, napkins, etc. This place only serves beer and ales - BUT, they do it VERY, VERY well. Went w/ 2 adult daughters on a Friday night to sample beers and just bs the night away. We brought in sub sandwiches and set up at one of the tables (see website for pics) around 7 PM. As this was our first time here, we each started with a flight of 5 sampler. I don't know where to begin. Started with Life in the Clouds hefeweizen, a great light wheat brew - and ended the flight with Touchdown Munich Dunkel lager, a bit too molasses-ey for my taste, but solid. In between, I had an IPA (name I forget), which was a bit too "hoppy" for my tastes, but even as I write that I see it's kinda' silly - IPAs are hoppy. If that wasn't silly enough, I also sampled a gose (again, name I forgot) that I found a bit too sour. (The daughters thoroughly enjoyed both.) But, far and away the home run for me was the Renewal pilsner made w/ Polish hops. Just a damn good pilsner beer. We went in hoping to sample and compare different types of beers and we came away very happy. If you want to know the difference between a wheat and a pilsner, or an IPA and gose, then this is the place. They didn't have a porter to compare with a stout, but we likely would have done that, too! We ended up leaving at 9PM - when they closed - after a few more Renewal, Life in the Clouds, Passion Fruit gose, and some I don't remember. If you go to a brewing company to really appreciate the brews, then you need to go here. They sell some varieties in cans (but I'm a bottle man) and all in crowlers, but be warned - you'll be coming back to get refills on your favorites.........and you WILL have favorites. First time coming here with my boyfriend. We loved selecting our brews for our flights. There's quite a few drinks for selection and you can take cans of various sizes to go. Staff was friendly, always came to see how we were doing and seated us in a nice corner distanced accordingly from others. Definitely will come back for more S'mores (the drink). read more

A decent watering hole in Somerset NJ. They have a fairly good selection of beer that tastes exactly like its ingredients. Great place to hang out, get a tour, and enjoy the evening. There is no food, so be prepared to eat beforehand. read more
